Writ didn't mind the hot weather, his god's realm consisted of nothing but desert. Still, he needed to spur the conversation on somehow. Writ got up, he was not a basking person.
"I guess we could wade, don't think either of us got the right clothes for the job."
In general, he was not a lie-around-doing-nothing-all-day kind of guy. He took off his poncho, taking off his shoes and lifting up his pantlegs. He could keep himself from smelling too much of the water and wade around. Anything to avoid just sitting around talking and being depressed.
His ankles felt a lot cooler. Writ looked down at his dewclaws through the murky water. Four toes wiggled in the sandy shore.

"No, we don't really." She said with a laugh and started toward the water, taking off the shoes she had managed to get out of a dumpster - her old ones didn't fit her and shoes were expensive. Not a luxury that she could afford at the moment. Without hesitation, Zyanya slipped into the water and then, with a smirk, splashed at Writ.
"Ha! Got you!" she cried joyously before diving off, cackling to herself as the water filled up her lungs - this time expecting it. She did not come up.

"Oh yeah?" Writ yelled back, spinning around with both his hands pushing the water below him, ready to give her a countersplash. His splash met nothing but the air. Writ frowned, he dunked his head in the water and tried to find the girl underneath. He heard her dive, but she'd needed to go up to the surface to breath, didn't she?
He flicked his head back, his long hair clumped by the water. Writ felt the wet strands against his neck.
"Where'd you go?"

Zyanya was a good five feet away, watching him with open eyes - the film over them making it easier to see under water and preventing it from hurting. A smirk was on her lips, head tilted as she watched him. But she wasn't ready or willing to come up yet. She wanted to see his reaction to her not coming up for air. Of course she knew she'd get paid back in some way, but it was all in good fun! Really!

And Writ just got his jeans washed. He thrashed around the water, trying to find his friend without any avail. Alright, stay calm. He thought to himself, she's probably just playing with you. If she was, she was really good at making him worry. After another frantic search for her, he took a deep breath, and dove right in. It was hard to find anything in the murky water, but blurred shapes of minnows and bubbles. He might be able to see in the dark, but in the water he was just as blind as any other human out there.
Writ went up to the surface and gasped for breath, he was all ready to search again.

Zyanya then decided not to be such a brat and popped out, spraying a fountain of water out of her mouth as she did so - ugh that was nasty. Still, she didn't get it all out at the right time and the burning in her chest caused her to cough and sputter a little bit before turning a cheeky grin onto the puppy at the surface.
"Told you, I got you." She said, eyes dancing in amusement and mischief. Ha. Tricked the trickster, didn't she?
The film over her eyes made things mildly blurry, however, and she had to concentrate to let it slide up over them - kind of weird to watch. Thankfully, she'd never seen it.

Writ smile, a facade really. Like he knew what was going on all along. On the inside he was sighing in relief. He watched the film over her eyes retract, and raised an eyebrow, that was interesting.... As soon as that little show was over, he gave her a big wave of water in the face.
"I got you too!"

A squawk was Writ's reward for the water wave to the face, "Hey, now!" she laughed, using her small hands to send a smaller wave toward her friend. Hers was not nearly as impressive, but she did it several times - determined to not let him get the last say in this unspoken little 'contest'.
"Take that, puppy boy!"

And the splash fight commenced. At first, Writ was bringing back his arms and skimming the water to make big waves at Zy, but when his arms grew tired, it quickly devolved into just mindless splashing, with Writ's arms thrashing up and down like a one-man slap fight.
Eventually, Writ got tired and started to swim closer to shore. He was out of breath from so much laughing.

Zyanya couldn't stop laughing either and took off after Writ, flopping herself down on the shore as she fought to catch her own breath. The thin shirt she wore stuck to her body - though she was thankful for the layered skirt. However, she was COLD now as air hit her soaked figure.
"I haven't had so much fun in a long time," She admitted, still laughing - though it was dying down and she was finally able to get air into her lungs.

Writ gave Zyanya a long look before plopping himself down on the warm sand. What else could he do, she was wet, and Coyote had taught him to at least take the oppurtunity to glance in her direction. He made an effort not to stare. It was already awkward to begin with.
"Yeah, same here. Sometimes, there's just some kinds of fun that blowing things up just can't make."

She didn't even notice the look. "I don't think I could see fun in blowing things up," She said, turning onto her side to look at Writ, head propped up by her arm, elbow digging into the ground. "Drowning things? Maybe." She paused. "Things, not people." Obviously, she was all water, baby.
No normal person could stay under water that long and survive it.

"You should come along when we do it again!" Writ said, "Imagine the fireworks you see every Fourth of July, but louder, bigger and just plain more cool looking. It's like blowing up mailboxes!" He forgot to mention the danger, the Blacksuits, and the general trouble one would get into if she did join him, but hey, nothing made a good date than a night of fireworks, illegal or otherwise. The "illegal" part was just a part of the thrill. The trouble? Well, Writ was always up for a bit of trouble.

"Maybe," She answered in a non-committing tone. Explosions weren't really her thing. They were loud and they hurt her ears. She usually stayed inside during the fireworks to tend to the children anyway. "I'm usually holed away in a library. But I'm not adverse to spending more time with you. I think you're the single player in the game that's actually spoken to me more than five minutes. And been helpful."
There was a smile that touched her lips, then. Writ was the first player she'd met, actually. "...Even if you did make me dine and dash, you b*****d." Her tongue poked out.

"Aww, alright." Writ said, with a little whine. He never saw the appeal of libraries, or reading for that matter. In elementary school he thought books beyond comics were a bore, and growing up hasn't exactly changed his opinion of the activity. There wasn't nearly enough action in novels that he couldn't do himself.
He cracked a smile at the idea of more time together. "Well, explosions or not, I wouldn't mind either."
"Oh, you know how it is, what else can you do if you don't have any money? Didn't expect to pay for you kids, that's for sure." Writ shrugged, it wasn't any big deal to him.
