"Of course, a birthday party!" Ellandra said, smiling brightly at the shyest of the three children. And so it was - a surprise birthday for the talking owl, who was called Tully - Ellandra couldn't help the little grin that had escaped her when she'd named the owl earlier. With time, the story had ended with a great amount of cake and ice cream and presents all around.

Faolan gave a look over his shoulder at Ellandra using his middle name and stuck his tongue out at the woman before turning his attention back to the cooking.
Kelly moved closer. "That was a great story, Auntie Elle. Tell another one."
"Please," the twins begged.

"Alright, then - how about another story about Tully the owl, hm?" Ellandra said, smiling happily at the children, idly wondering where tht odd fragrance was coming from.

Faolan grumbled softly, but good-naturedly at his wife's usage of his name again.
"Tully!" Sara squealed happily, starting to be more active as she relaxed around the woman. The other two children agreed loudly to more stories about the owl.

Ellandra continued telling stories about Tully the owl (and dragons, and fairy princesses) until her throat started to get sore. She still couldn't figure out that odd feeling, or the fragrance, though perhaps if she'd thought about it a little more she might have. Instead, however, she was simply looking forward to the food finishing so that she could rest her voice for a little while.

"It smells like roses in here," Annie said, sniffing at the air. The other two children followed suit, commenting about the fragrance of other flowers.
Even Faolan was starting to notice the scent of wildflowers over the sausage patties he was frying up.

Ellandra blinked. "It does," she commented, rubbing at her throat (which was feeling a bit raw). "I wonder why. . ."

"Did Rhian use some incense earlier?" Faolan asked, looking back at Elle. "Could explain it." He noticed her rubbing her throat. "You alreet, love?"

"No, Rhian never touched any incense - why would she? You know she's got that lavender incense in her hair whenever she wants," Ellandra said, still trying to figure out the strange but pleasant scent. "And I'm alright, my throat's just a little tired, that's all."

"I can make you some lemon tea if'n you'd like, wife," Faolan said, moving the food from the frying pan to a couple of plates. He brought it to the small table and set it down in the middle of the dishes and silverware he'd set out earlier. "Come eat, weans. Let Elle rest a spell."

Ellandra shook her head. "Thank you, Faolan, but I'll be all right," she said, smiling, and reached up to twined her fingers in her hair - only t pause once they touched it. "W-what?" she half-questioned, half-wondered out loud, as her fingers met. . . petals? . . . instead of just her curls.

Faolan wasn't paying attention to his wife while trying to herd and wrangle three small children to the table and get them started on their dinner. Her soft question, though, reached his ears and he looked up . . . and blinked. "Elle?"

Ellandra blinked, fingers starting to softly stroke the flowers - though her shock overtook her happiness and after a moment, they vanished, causing her to blink again. "I - um. . ." she started to say, then looked over at her husband. "Yes, Faolan?"

Ellandra blushed and looked down. "Um. . . yes, actually." There was no point in trying to conceal it, after all - if it had happened once, it was likely to happen again. Though going through the entire story of how she'd found out what her mother - and what she herself, apparently - was would take far longer than she cared to relate.
