I'll reword how to do this:
-In your th123 folder, there is a file named "configex123."
-Open that, and about four lines down you'll see "[th105path]."
-Beneath that it will say "path=" and the location of your program files folder.
-Replace the portion after "path=" with the address of your th105 folder.
-Save and close the file.
-Enjoy pitting two earth benders against each other and bringing the sun right to Remilia's face.
As long as you don't move SWR, you shouldn't have to touch the file again.

Thats exactly what i did.
I made the "path=" to where the folder where the SWR game was. Then i saved and closed, I even opened it back up to double check. I double checked everything and then opened up touhou 12.3 and I went to "Vs. Player" and I saw the same amount of characters as before.
And I did change the path from program files to the SWR game. I swear. Thats WHY I asked if I was supposed to connect to the game data or not.
One last question, in the path= , can I have spaces in there? Maybe that was the problem.

The path is supposed to be something like: C:/Users/whateveryournameis/Documents/th105 No spaces, and you have to connect to the folder the game is in, not the game itself.

Sorry I didn't reply, I had some RL problems. Anyways, if someone could give me instructions on how to get the SWR character patch working, I'd appreciate it. I can't get it working. >_<

There is no patch for the characters. There's a download of a score.dat file with all the characters unlocked on the main page of the SWR wiki, if that's what you're looking for.

Bakurali [Arukai] Big white blocks? That's.....different. Did you try it more than once, and after closing and restarting the game? Yes. I forgot to mention that the backgrounds look odd, too. Here's a screenie of me (Suika) vs. Cirno with a SWR background. Cirno was actually beating me because I wasn't doing anything. http://i614.photobucket.com/albums/tt225/underwaterstar/Screen.pngOh, if it matters, I haven't unlocked all the characters on SWR. The screenie in the background was especially...odd. It was the red room, but got a lot more distorted than the other backgrounds. Ah, my friend had this problem. Apparently, you've either linked Touhou 12.3 to Touhou 10.5 incorrectly, or you linked correctly, but your Scarlet Weather Rhapsody is missing stuff. I'd say double and triple check your SWR is where you told 12.3 it is, and if that's correct, redownload SWR from a different source. By the way, Hai guys, I've never posted in this guild, but I have been getting really into Touhou lately, and randomly did a Gaia search for Touhou guilds. ANYWAYS~ I'll probably join soon.

Okay, I tried this, and it didn't work. If it matters, I have Vista (it works because I turn off almost all the settings), and have the Japanese language pack set up on my computer. Maybe I should try putting the Y symbol instead of the forward-slash?

Ah, the th105 folder directory needs to be done with backslashes, as such:.
EDIT: It's deleting my backslashes when I submit my post for some reason.

I have both forward- and backslashes, and it works just fine, so I don't think that's it.
I recommend unlocking all the characters as soon as possible so we can rule that out if it still doesn't work.

Well, I'm pretty sure it doesn't matter if you're unlocked them in SWR. Cause I hadn't, and my UNL still had them available and working.
Check your SWR folder, and tell me how big it is.
