I did something unexpected today; completely and totally unexpected. Normally, I had stood by my being alone with my husband; with nothing to care about except his feelings and my research? until now. You see, I had adopted a child... A little healthy baby girl by the name of Layne; she has such beautiful eyes... I can never get over looking into them the first time. They reminded me of my own, and it was almost frightening at first. Then, I just simply got used to looking into her deep aqua-marine eyes. She was precious, this young baby girl. On another note, I had realized that I had not spoken to my husband about having a baby. And when I brought the child home, I dreaded hearing what he had to say. Except, this is for sure, my husband is as unpredictable as the weather. He loved Layne and was happy to have her. It was a relief to see his expression and his remark to her beauty. In fact, we had been talking about having a baby of our own... we had a crib and everything; so, Layne was set! She sleeps with us though, in the same room. I don't mind, nor does Sage. We like her close... it makes us feel like we're protecting her somehow.

She is sleeping right now as I write this. So calm, so peaceful. I will write more on this event later... It is a memorable date. Yes, it is.

And yet another irrational thing. My husband and I decided that we wished to take Layne to Florida, Disney World. I'm not so sure what spurred us into this idea, but we are going to do it. Our plan leaves the 30th of this month! We'll be gone till December 7th... I hope Layne is all right with planes. At least she'll have mommy and daddy holding onto her the entire time.

And my! She is quite the talker! She loves screatching "Ma" and "Da" as much as possible. She spoke "Ma" first... So far, she has a wide variety of two and three letter words. She also isn't too shy around other people, that is, unless they hold her. She is fine "talking" to them but not being held by them.

She adores Sage; another thing that I am mighty thankful for. She likes to sleep in his arms or next to him. It's quite entertaining, actually... and very adorable.

She does not seem to like the color red... I don't know why. Whenever she sees it, she breaks out into sobs and cries... so we avoid this color as much as possible.

Today was Thanksgiving. It was a quiet one, no TV or relatives. Just Sage, Layne, and myself. It was just us, the small turkey, and Layne's babyfood--that of which she loves to avoid eating. We have to bend over backwards to just try to get her to eat! It seems that the only reason she refuses to eat is just to laugh at our attempts to get her to eat. Either way, it's tricky.

Sage and I had a deep conversation tonight at dinner as well. He was worried about Layne growing up... It was a topic I knew he was concerned about and would eventually bring up. Sage and I are of a different ancient race... it is hard to explain, but our ancient ancient ancestors were originally created as weapons of war. We had been modified and altered as the centuries had gone on. What Sage and I are now, is the pretty much the evolved product. We live to be in the 4-digits or more and we do not age beyond our last growth spurt. We look young until we die... ... This concerned Sage for the fact that he didn't want to see Layne grow old and die... it would hurt, children should never die before their parents. However, I told him to just hush and enjoy the day...

We will simply have to take life as it is handed to us and explain to Layne when the time comes why her mommy and daddy don't seem to be getting older... Until then, Carpe Diem.

Oh! On another note, I didn't burn the turkey this year! It was a record.

Tomorrow we leave for Orlando, Florida! I still have some packing to do, but Layne is all ready. She doesn't know really what to think with all the excitment and is crying a lot more. She may be worried... but about what, I don't know. She'll be with us the entire time, so she won't have to worry.

We bought park hopper tickets for the Disney parks, and then a park ticket for Seaworld. We aren't planning to do any major rides (obviously) but we haven't been there before and Layne may like it.

I believe I may end up taking a neice and nephew of mine... And that reminds me, I need to call them to ask if they were comming! Talk about last minute plans!

We have arrived at our Hotel in Orlando. We're staying at the Disney's Swan Hotel... it is very lovely, may I say! Since we arrived late, we ordered roomservice and called it a night!

Anyway, I hear Layne crying again... I need to make sure she didn't soil herself and that Sage is actually sleeping (he gets jetlagged to easily). I'll update on our trip later when I get the chance.

Layne adores the princesses! She has a major attachment to Cinderella; although, I wonder if it's because she wears blue... Hm.

Our neice and nephew did manage to come along! I forgot to add that. My neice is 7 years old, her name is Natasha; and my nephew is 10 years old, his name is Jake. They are both estatic to be here with us... So, the room isn't at all quiet like we guessed it would be!

Well, I have to head off again or else Sage and the kids with leave without me. Later!

Sure was a fun vacation! The children loved it and Layne was entranced the entire time. With the christmas lights and bright colors, she was thrilled. Jake managed to meet a girl who gave him her address. They'll be penpals, is what Jake said. Cute kids... Natasha is still talking a million miles and hour over what she saw, and Layne just loves to hear people speak while she claps her hands and squeals.

However, we just got back and the kids are out like a light. Sage had to carry the two older kids while I handled Layne. Neither of them woke up with our moving... So, we put them to bed in the guest bedrooms (with Layne in her crib in our room) and unpacked quietly. I'm just updating this before I go to bed (which I desire to do badly). So, goodnight for now!

Well, Christmas morning was fantastic! Sage and I got Layne some regular baby toys and some "magical" toys. I never knew going to Baby's R' Us would be so overwhelming! There was so much there, it was amazing. It was a good thing Sage and I shopped early though, I'm sure it was a zoo during the month of December.

Some of Layne's toys were water related items that she can play with and entertain herself with; along with some toys that have to do with the element of light... she is extremely entertained. And is also making a hell of a lot of noise.

One of her specific toys is a rod; it has the topping of a blue orb/precious stone that glows if she shakes it. Depending on her grip, water droplets will appear and do tricks/designs in the air before evaporating... it is very entertaining for her and will hopefully teach her how to use and control water magic...

Sage and I are planning to relax with Layne today; take is slow and steady and allow Layne to experiment with all of her toys.

For those who are reading, I hope you also had a wonderful Christmas!

Oh my! I completely utterly underestimated Layne's growing teeth! She has such a strong bite, I would know! I was tickling her earlier and playfully batting at her nose with my index finger when she decided to catch me off gaurd and bite! Luckily, there was no blood drawn, just some nice deep teeth marks! At least this is a good sign of strong healthy teeth... She honestly meant no harm, she just giggled until she heard her mother say, "OW!" Then she whined... However, all is good now.

And it is getting harder and harder to keep her away from her sweeter snack foods... Sage says she'll be the type of child to sneak into the cookie jar when we're not looking. I'm hoping he's wrong.

Rune Traverse
*dingdong*

On answering the door, you find a pair of small, strange little creatures, no bigger than the palm of your hand and shaped like walking flowerbulbs. Hopping up and down, they squeak in a rather adorable fashion, their large, liquid eyes bright with glee. They're lugging a prettily folded note in pale lilac paper between them - apparently, they rang the doorbell by throwing pebbles at it.

Unfolding the note, you realize it's an announcement of some sort, written in elegant print with some kind of purple, shimmering ink. It also rhymes:

Spring Event

Attention!!

Attention one, attention all!
We love you so much, so come have a ball!
We'll play games, we'll paint faces, do all sorts of stunts!
We'll even have a special treasure hunt!

No fee is required,
Just yourselves for some fun,
Bring food if you like,
For our lunch in the sun!

Fireworks come later,
And the lake with surprises,
Swimming and fishing!
Who knows, maybe prizes!

So come to the place,
Marked here on this map,
We'll all be here waiting,
Come on, it's a snap!

Beneath the poem are what seems to be a set of directions, along with a date - Saturday - and a time of 11am-noon with question marks around it. *note* Follow the link below to the Tenjutsu Center, and the link for the event thread will be posted tomorrow, about 11am to noon Gaia time.

Ah, the joy of children... I left the journal out for a few hours and sure enough... my clever and always-searching Layne found it with markers. So... I have lost all entries since February 18th! Oh well, I can't be mad at her--she's just expressing her creative side.

So... to catch up on everything. Layne is growing fast and so is her speech. She has loves having "intelligent conversations" with Sage, it pleases her to no end--and it's quite adorable to watch, I must admit. I just can't wait for her to grow up... and learn more skills. She hasn't had her quest yet...
