With a somewhat embarrassed chuckle, Avantea stepped out of hiding, towards Haveni. "I should've known better. I can't fool your senses with my skills", she laughed. "This part of the forest.." she started then, looking around them, "..it looks ill. I have no idea what could cause this kind of damage", she said.
She turned to look at Haveni. "We're quite far from the others. You think you're close to finding something?" She held a half-hearted grin on her face as she asked that question. "Since you know what I'm here for."
The silence around them was almost piercing. They couldn't have gone that far from the others, and still there were no sounds. There wasn't even any wind noticeable in that part of the forest. It was rather unnatural.

Girisha looked around as well, worried about the feeling he was getting. As they went further in he stopped and looked at one of the graying plants and lightly stroked it. In turn the plant broke from where had touched it. Girisha stood up and looked around. "Bad place. Bad for everyone."
He looked at Kliment to see what he was looking at and too noticed the glimmer once more. "We go?" he looked worried at the area but he still wanted to find the PoH.

Oh. So it’s not a monster…
Aeos blinked, confusion flickering on the Constellation’s face before it gave way to curiosity. He let out a soft purr, one that sounded as questioning as Harou’s face at that moment. As another sound found its way into his ears, Aeos turned around to look, but suddenly shuddered. There was now the feeling of being watched, by eyes that were unwelcoming. “Murrr…” He cast his gaze skyward, features uncertain, and then continued what he was doing. His icy gaze fell on Rylia the next moment.
A Twilif...
He arched a brow curiously, automatically sweeping away the distant emotions of fear and doubt. It was probably for the better that they formed a group, rather than venturing in alone. But, then again, his conscience wouldn’t fair very well if he left these two young Moonfolk off on their own.
The Constellation let out a soft welcoming purr, finally gesturing Harou and Rylia to come closer. He swept his arm towards the village and beyond in another gesture, this one meant for exploring.

No sound. No wind. No... nothing, except for the noise he and Girisha made. He could see the unease in the other's eyes, and had watched as the plant he'd touched had crumbled. "Yes," he muttered, "Bad for everyone."
Why was it dying? Would this spread through the rest of the forest, or was it contained within this area? He felt this would be more difficult than it appeared; that woman had probably hidden the gem in the confines of the deadest part of the forest and, possibly, the most dangerous. Gripping Girisha's shoulder once, he nodded at him. "Yes, let's go. We've come too far to go back now."

"Well, I tried to divert their attention so I could get that shiny thing...but I got lost in the process. Eheh...." As they continued walking, she realized there were no birds singing in the trees, and the sunlight seemed to strain itself just to barely get through the canopy.
"I really don't understand what happened here. Maybe the ground was poisoned."
Haveni stopped, perking as if listening to something. "Did you hear...a voice just now? Did somebody follow us?"

Rylia continued to walk around the village, every few minutes calling out a "hello", trying to attract anyone that was nearby. It was a relief to know someone else was here, but at the same town, she knew they were probably looking for the piece of heart also. But that didn't matter, no matter how interesting and drawn to the item she felt, it was more important that she and the others could get back safely in the end. Could the storytellers reason for sending this item out here have a deeper meaning? She wasn't sure.
Even so, she continued calling out, looking for the beautifully crafted item she sought for at the same time. She really didn't like the feeling she was getting as she walked alone. As if someone was there, but not. The ghosts maybe? Dead souls. She wasn't sure, but it made her heart beat as wandered. "Hello?" she called out again as she stopped, her ears catching a soft sound. She looked in the direction she heard it from to see a constellation and then a phyri not to far away from him.
She swallowed hard as she walked over towards the constellation drawn by the sound he made for some reason. Once she was a few feet away, she looked at the constellation and then at the phyri. She wanted to speak, but couldn't find the right words to say. "R-Rylia...." she muttered, that being the only thing she could find to say at the moment.

Girisha nodded and followed his comrad, keeping his eyes on the gray forest and anything that might come to them. He was worried about this part of the forest and what it would be like for them on the rest of their journey.
He walked closer to Kliment like he did before, still going after the glimmer. As they walked a little farther he thought he heard a whisper of a voice not too far from them.

The air left his chest, relief washing over the phyri's face. So, he hadn't intended to hurt them; at least, that was what Harou felt, although he had yet to have a true reason for trusting the other. Thus far, it seemed that this one would trust him, so he would do the same.
Stepping carefully toward Aeos, Harou looked over his shoulder to see the approaching twilif. Another one? It certainly felt less scary with more around, he noted with ever-increasing relief. Still, he couldn't shake the feeling that someone's eyes other than their own were watching him. It sent a cold shiver down his spine, and he tried to shake it off. To no avail.
"I do not know what to do," he said airily, his voice light and sing-songy. It was almost difficult to hear, being very soft and a bit awkward, although the eerie silence in the village helped. Crossing his arms over his chest, Harou glanced around again, wishing the paranoia would leave his neck. Why he felt it there, he could only wonder. The fins running the length of his back felt like they wanted to stand on end, more so than they already were. Strange.
Casting a curious look to Rylia, he was unsure as to how introductions went, and only continued to look at her, then Aeos, who seemed to be the leader sort. Well, that was certainly alright by him. Best have someone who knew what they were doing around, after all.

Avantea stopped as well with Haveni's last words, listening intently but her ears picked up no sounds whatsoever aside from the small rustling they caused with their movement.
"No, I don't hear anything, Haveni", she said, shaking her head. "Maybe you're imagining things? It's easy for your mind to play tricks on you in a place like this", she said with a chuckle, trying to lighten the mood. She'd never been much of a joker though.. she was much too serious by nature. Laughing didn't change that fact.
She looked around again, still trying if she could hear anything since Haveni seemed certain she had. And still, there was nothing to be heard.

Kliment stopped, looked at Girisha. He heard it, too; a voice, softly speaking somewhere in the silence. He knew he didn't need to tell the other to be as silent as possible, and began to creep along the forest, pressing his back against a tree. He did not allow himself to use it fully for support, because the idea of a tree falling over certainly didn't bring to mind stealth. Looking over at Girisha, he drew him closer to whisper under his breath.
"On three," he quietly commanded, searching his face for any signs of hesitation. "Alright? We'll ambush whoever it is."

Girisha nodded again. he waited and tried to see around the tree at who they might be ambushing. He couldnt completely see, but he trusted his friend. He waited patiently until they striked.

Haveni quirked a brow, confused, at Avantea. "But it was clear as day."
She drew rigid as she heard it again. Small, female voice. 'I'm here...I'm here.' It repeated itself several times.
She whirled around. To her, the voice seemed next to her. "You honestly..don't hear it?"
Her heart was pounding, strangely. Cold shivers trickled up and down her skin. Her wrists and throat felt like something clenched tightly upon them, and she knelt towards the ground, clutching her knees as if sick. 'Please come to me....I'm here, in the dark. It's cold...please, please let me out.'
Haveni gazed up, her vision a little dizzy, yet her eyes could focus ahead of them. There was a place where the roots seemed to circle around something...maybe an old, stone door? And around that area, the forest seemed the most dead.
She raised her finger, pointing to it. "...There, someone is in there." She picked herself off the ground, staggering at first, and then ran towards the dead area. It was indeed some sort of door, an entrance to an underground shrine, perhaps.

Aeos smiled at them reassuringly when their combined gazes fell on him. It seemed he had unintentionally made himself the ‘leader’, but it wasn’t anything particularly new. The occurrence happened on more than one occasion…. Not to mention, he felt it would be odd if it were any other way. Following orders had never been his strong suit, he thought, recalling another time and another Twilif named Aika.
For a moment, he wished he could speak more than a few purrs and growls, but his throat refused to cooperate. The Constellation purred softly once more before turning his gaze forward. Taking the Piece of Heart as his own had never been his objective, but he didn’t know any other reason for making him move forward.
For now, they’d have to explore the remains of this village.

Juisa did not like the dark. Which was a bit odd, given her parents. But, none the less, the young light hearted phyri did want to see this festival. Her father, Joachim, said it would help her make friends, and Jusia did like to make friends! When she had arrived, she had caught the tail ends of the Nameless One's story. Maybe this festival was a bit too scary for her. Meanwhile, Kyu-Ryu was talking great pride in his work. What was his work? Well...traps. Not any harmful traps...just scary ones. A clothe draped over a branch set to swing out when a string was triggered. Some dead birds, (he had found them dead!), set to drop from the sky...Oh yes, he'd have great fun. Now...to mess with the little ones....Maybe even to mess with those his own age.

When Kliment peered around the tree, he was surprised to find the white woman running away, leaving her ethereal friend alone. Probably not for long. Confusion knitting his brow and causing him to frown, he stepped out from the tree, keeping an arm out to assure Girisha he wasn't going anywhere. Now away from the tree, he could easily see where the woman was running; a... door? She seemed frantic, as if she were chasing something more than a piece of heart.
Worry now evident in his features, he looked back to Girisha. "She ran away."
