Renna probably should have slid to the ground as well, maybe make Ichta feel more at ease, but she was selfish. She wanted to stand. To shards with the rest. Still, the young candidate stayed, rocking back and forth on her heels every so often. This was not what she had expected from her time at the Bowl, but still, it was, as always, interesting.
"I've heard the green Ianquith is quite a good dragon. Another candidate mentioned her by name." Renna thought briefly of Moira, of the story she told of the dragon hiding behind a corner simply to make a human feel more comfortable. It was oddly kind, and the young candidate genuinely hoped to meet such a dragon. A tall man walked down the hallway, carrying a skin of some kind. He briefly nodded to Renna as he passed, raising an eyebrow at the girl crouched in the corner. Renna didn't know him, but she suddenly felt silly, just standing outside of the Bowl, a dragon-less clinger. She waited for the man to leave and then continued her conversation. "Haven't met Ormeteth. Who is his rider?"

She hadn't met Ianquith -- perhaps she'd have to. Not that.... ...... she'd...force the dragon to meet her or something. Oh Faranth ;;;;; (That would have been the worst awkward meeting ever, two beings of such fragile nature wibbling at each other pathetically). However, if she could keep the conversation going in a distracting direction... ....
"Ormeteth is G'ran's." she explained. Or was it G'ran was Ormeteth's? Why couldn't G'ran be-fjdakls;dfj THOUGHTS DE-RAILING, GOING ELSEWHERE, LA LA LA LA LAAA!
No really, it was hilariously bad the direction her thoughts had gone right then. But still she was in an almost fetal position, uncaring of who it was who would see her in such a state. It was the safest position she could be in at that time.....
Okay, hiding underneath her cot in a pile of wibbling fail would probably be preferable, but nooooo. She told her mother she'd write home about all of the friends she was making! Just Canthry and G'ran weren't quite a suitable number of friends to write home about yet.
So she couldn't do that!
Alas. "Hard to miss 'em though... G'ran's a pretty big guy.." BIG AND SCARY.... sort of.

Still facing away from Ichta while the girl wibbled in the fetal position, Renna found herself getting distracted. Wingbeats of dragons, footsteps coming down the hallway, the wafting scent of something that had long soured -- all these things were making the conversation less appealing to the selfish girl. Sure, she wanted to get to know Ichta, to pick her brain, but she was beginning to believe that it might be good to give the fellow candidate space and try again at a later date.
"G'ran?" she repeated, trying to force a picture into her head. Was he good-looking? Hm... that would be nice -- a good-looking rider with a charming dragon. "What does he look like? I'm not sure if I've seen him."

Oh goodness, how did one describe what G'ran looked like besides 'big and intimidating'? The man was at least a head taller than her! Which... was actually pretty tall in comparison to her. Alas, she actually had to think of how to put the guy into words. Well...
"He's a lot taller than me.... and has really broad shoulders.." she'd know, she spent a looot of time staring at his back in their first meetings... what else... "shortish hair.." and uneven, but she didn't mind that, "pretty quiet though.... but helpful. Ormeteth is the one who will walk right up to you though."
Yeah, walk up so he could 'hold you' there until he could force G'ran to socialize, but she didn't know this!
Ormeteth was just adorable in her mind. Little skittery helpful brown. Awwwwww.
"A little rough around the edges, but I think he's a good guy..." Awww, she was using her 'tone' of voice without even knowing it! OOPS. THAT WAS TECHNICALLY SLIPPING INFORMATION SHE DIDN'T MEAN TO, LA LA LA LA LA!!! The silly girl.
Silly and fearful. Really, she was wimpier than the cowardly lion.

Wow. Wow.
This was by far the most that Ichta had said to Renna in this entire conversation. By. Far. And it all had to do with some guy? Being a 16-turn-old girl, a creeping smile itched up her face. Rambling about some boy, eh? Really broad shoulders, eh? Good guy, eh? Did Ichta...? Oh, ho, ho, that would be particularly delicious. However, Renna had no way of confirming anything without sending Ichta in the opposite direction, of that much she was absolutely positive. Besides, it was just a suspicion -- but a fun one!
Fun enough to explore more. "Oh, are you and G'ran close?" She didn't move an inch -- no sudden movements around this one. "I mean, he's sounds like a great guy. From what you said. His dragon too. I like a friendly dragon." Because they might let me touch them! She stifled her internal comment, happy to seem a little more mature for the time being.

Oh really, if she hadn't been hiding her face the starry eyed look she had would have been plainer than daylight; she was totally smitten. Not quite in that way of 'I'M TOTALLY IN LOVE WITH THIS GUY', but she was taking baby steps in that direction -- good impressions were good and it hadn't even been the rider's idea in that case. Ohhh no, it had all been Ormeteth's fault.
However..
"Well... I wouldn't say we're close..." There was a certain sad tone to her voice as she propped her chin up on her elbows. "He likes his space, and I'm preferential to my own.... so it's been more of a series of a few meetings rather than a pleasant friendship."
Ohh, but she would have liked a friendship... G'ran just didn't seem to be the sort to want or need friends.
"But Ormeteth will warm right up to anybody, I say.... perhaps not unpleasant people, but he's more than happy to wander right up to someone to say hello."

Renna detected the touch of sadness in Ichta's voice, but she didn't jump to any conclusions -- not any more than she had already jumped toward at least. She nodded along as the girl spoke, keeping her eyes straight ahead away from Ichta's crumpled form. "They sound like a great pair," she said, feeling the first tinge of ease that she had the entire conversation.
Well, no need to risk ruining it again. "Well, it has been very nice to meet you, Ichta. I better get back to the kitchen before they come looking for me." There were always more tubers to peel, and Renna had begun to enjoy her chore. For a girl who loved stories, the gossip corner was a blessed place, a very blessed place indeed.
She took a few steps from the wall and turned to face Ichta. "I hope to see you around. It's nice to know people here, other candidates." Offering a brief wave and a smile, Renna departed down the hall, heading toward the kitchen. Well, that had been interesting -- and the girl was happy to just leave it on a happy note. She was certain she would see Ichta again, and maybe next time she would find more success in their conversation.
Apparently, the key to opening up Ichta was talking about other people, namely G'ran. Good to know!

Ichta was happy to linger with a thoughtful sigh after Renna wandered off to leave her to her own devices, humming and tapping her fingers against the side of her jawbone before forcing herself to stand up and pulling the collar right back into it's rightful place over her chin.
That... had been a disasterous meeting, she had to say. Not as bad as it could have been, in retrospect, but it was still disasterous by all means. Note to self for the future: Find a way to permanently hide the scar. It was the only thing she really needed to worry about..... ......... ..............
Sans working on feeling cornered when bombarded with questions. fjadsf.
As she wandered back down the hall she'd gotten herself lost down in the first place to go back to the commons.. ...
Note to self: Don't take halls you're not familiar with next time, Ichta. Now perhaps she could get herself back to where it was she had been going in the first place..
