((Okay nevermind sweatdrop They did))
Selenium stood up, taking the pan in a firm grasp with her tail. She held it up, below eye level watching it. "Okey dokey," she smiled and moved out of the way. A delicious smell wafted up from the mushrooms, as she sniffed the air in delight. "Wow, you're amazing." She paused to check the pan. Almost there, but not quite. A few more minutes, she thought. "Nope, I've never cooked like this before in my life. I like to fish and most of the time I eat fruits or vegetables. The only thing I've ever cooked, was a catfish over an open fire." Selenium held out the pan to him, "It's simmering quite nicely now. I think it may be ready."

Sysyphus gently laid the stakes and mushrooms onto the pan, adding a some spices and a meat rub onto them. "All we now have to do is wait," he said keeping a watchful eye on the cooking meat and mushrooms. Shifting nervously he looked at Selenium with vulnerable honest in his eyes, "What did you think of me when you first saw me? I mean be brutally straight with me. None of this fudging to the side 'I don't want to hurt one's feelings' thing. I mean the real thing."

Selenium watched the steaks and mushrooms in silence for a moment. She thought about what he had just asked. The truth . . . She didn't like being dishonest, but she was afraid she'd hurt him. "Truthfully," Selenium sighed and took a deep breath, "At first I thought you were a stalker or just some weird painter. I mean you were high above my head watching me like an experiment, and then as I saw you plunge down, my mind changed and went to showoff. I mean it was obvious you were trying to look good as you dove down, but who wouldn't want to make a good first impression? And when you tripped I realized how embarrassed you must've been and only saw a graceful painter. You picked yourself up and didn't let the tripping stop you from talking to me," Selenium said most of it in a rush, then paused to take another breath and continue, "Now, I see a talented and creative Painter." That was the truth, no more or no less. She hoped she hadn't caused him to hate her or hurt his feelings. But he asked, she thought mentally shrugging her shoulders. What happens, happens. Don't look back, only forward.

He smiled and blushed, "It's really amazing how wrong first impressions can be. That's also a high compliment you paid to me. I've never thought of my self as talented or graceful before. I'm quite sure your analysis of me is a lot more exact than my own impressions of myself. You would have laughed at my first impression of you."

Selenium nodded and smiled, "Sure is," she let out a small sigh of relief. "Well you're so sweet, and your home tells a lot about you," she exclaimed then titled her head to one side in curiousity. "Oh? What was your first impression of me?"

"I thought you were some kind of an anomely. You flew past me so fast you looked like a purple blur. That's why I watched you after you landed I was trying to make sense of what I saw," he admitted shyly a little color flushed into his cheeks

Selenium gave a small laugh, "Really? I didn't know my crazy flying looked like that. But I love taking early morning flights, especially on days like this. When the skies are blue, and no clouds can be found in sight. Plus I think today was a great day to fly," she smiled and nudged his shoulder with hers. "Those steaks look positively scrumptious," Selenium said sniffing the air. Her wings fluttered, and ruffled out giving the feathers a crazy, messed up look. "After we eat, I can show you a secret area I found near my home. No one but me knows where it's at. It's pretty close to a Painter's Paradise too."

"Sounds lovely," said Sysyphus excitedly, " It looks like the steaks are ready." He pulled them off of the fire and set them on plates. With a lot of care he added a little parsley and sauce to them along with the morels. It was a beautiful dish fitting for the occasion.

Selenium nodded, "It is," she said with a sparkle in her eye. She couldn't wait to eat and watched anxiously as he prepared the dish. "Wow I never knew food could look pretty," she joked smelling the parsley. She'd never seen that kind of herb before, and found it had a different scent to it, she couldn't quite place it.

Sysyhus gently served her her dish. He took tiny bights savering ever last one as he took up his own plate."You like it then?" he said hopefully, "I was hoping you would. Especially the morels, the mushrooms. Quite surprisingly taste aren't they?" He hadn't felt this good for a very long time. Maybe every day would be this good. He thought as he looked at Selenium dreamily.

"Mmm," Selenium said as she took a bite. She chewed slowly, making sure she got the full taste out of the meal. "Wow, that is a surprising taste. I love it! Where did you learn to cook like this?"she took another bite and glanced from the dish to him. Her cheeks turned a wine color as she noticed him looking at her. Selenium hadn't had a day like this in . . . Forever! Sysyphus was the first male she'd met since she had arrived here, and he really made her happy. It was like she was floating on a cloud most of the time. Her eyes got a sparkle to them as she stared at him out of the corner of her eye. Selenium smiled and swallowed the bite she had, then nuzzled him.

He was glad that she liked his food but before he could say anything she began to nuzzle him. He decided that it would be a good moment to be silent. He gave her an affectionate nuzzle in return. He finished his plate slowly. "I guess I just picked it up over time. I'm really glad you like it, "he nudged her, "would you like me to clear up your plate? And then we'll head off to that spot you were telling me about."

She smiled and nodded, "You're a fast learner then. This was truthfully wonderful." Selenium finished the last couple of bites and handed him the plate, "Thank you. Not just for the meal, but for today too. You'll have to stay close to me while we're flying, or else you might miss the place. It was luck actually that I found the alcove, it's about ten miles away from my home."

Selenium smiled and scooted closer to him, "We can leave now. Before the sun starts to set, it's breath taking during sunset." She went over the path for the millionth time. The big oak, which was her home, then they'd have to start heading toward the thickest part of the Jungles of Sleep. Toward Crater Lake, veer off to the right and there was the alcove. Nestled behind thick covered branches and overgrown ferns. "We may have to walk for a few minutes, but it's worth it."
