"Well are you deaf or just stupid? I asked you a question!" The feminine voice snapped at Zaine, "Shall I bite you once more or will you answer?"

"Your my spirit? Shouldn't you be more friendly?" Zaine asked dryly, finally returning to reality and ignoring the she wolf's tone.


"Sister dear, be more paitient you did wound him quite severly." a deep male voice said soothingly.


Zaine looked around for the source but was unsuccessful. "Who are you?" he called out cautiously.

"Yes brother please do come out so the boy will stop whining." the ivory wolf said wickedly.

From the bushes came an even bigger wolf, this one was ebony though and his eyes seemed to be calm and paitient. "Sister I do believe this 'boy' you speak of is to be our partner. So I suggest you be a bit more paitient." the ebony wolf turned to Zaine now and adressed him. "Greetings Zaine, welcome to our home." he said and bowed his head slightly.

"Well, thank you it is an honor to be here." Zaine replied with a bow to the male wolf. "So you two are my spirits then, it seems squad 10 has a tendency to attract wolves." he said with a chuckle.

"Brother, I suggest we transform it's so boring speaking in these forms." the she wolf said to her ebony brother.

"Very true sister, besides our guest may find it easier to converse also." the ebony wolf said calmly.

Zaine looked at the two questioningly, "What do yo-" his words died in his mouth as the two forms were engulfed in blinding light.

Zaine blinked the stars out of his eyes, once sight was restored he let out a gasp of shock, standing before him were two people instead of the wolves. The man was tall and had an athletic build, his hair was ravenwing black and his eyes golden, the man's face was handsome but possesed a lupine quality, his ears were those of a wolf and he possessed claws and fangs as well a tail that barely hung above the ground. The woman was beautiful but had the same lupine traits as her brother, only there was a sense of something feral about her. Her hair was as white as pure snow and she had a sly smile that just barely exposed her fangs, the two sibilings wore the uniform of a Shinigami but with inverse coloration. Each had a large blade strapped to their backs, both of which appeared to be fangs of some sort.

"Well brother, it seems we have rendered our guest mute." The woman said in a melodic voice that possessed a trace of wryness. She crossed her arms in front of her and frowned, "He's a scrawny thing isn't he?" she muttered

"So what do you want from me?" Zaine asked warily, "Name the challange I must complete." he said, slowly becoming more bold.


"That's more I like it boy, get to the point." The woman said with a grin, she looked to her brother, "I'll let you decide brother, I want him for his next step." she said and licked her lips, turning to Zaine with a smile that perectly showed off her fangs.

"Very well sister, I will take care of this." the black haired man said calmly, he looked to Zaine with his eyes that seemed to look inside Zaine and examine his very esscence, what he has done and what he will do. "Are you sure you wish for this to continue youngling?" he said to Zaine, the question seemed to be a final chance for one to save themself before entering the abyss.

"I am, I will do whatever you wish of me." Zaine said firmly, the fire of determination burned brightly in his eyes, as he stared directly into the eyes of the raven haired man before him.

"Very well, Zaine Tsukioma kneel." The man commanded, watching as the shinigami obliged, "You shall swear an oath of blood to us, one that if broken will end in your demise." he intoned sternly, suddenly engulfed in light that dissapated as quickly as it came, leaving the large black wolf form he had abandoned earlier. "Are the terms understood?" the wolf questioned.


"Yes, I accept and understand the terms." Zaine said solemnly, he bowed his head and awaited for the wolf to continue.

"Very well, we shall commence." The wolf said, then without warning bit into Zaine's right shoulder, creating a mirror of the wound his sister had left earlier. "Zaine Tsukioma, by your blood do you swear to defend those you love and cherish, even at the cost of your life? You shall fight to protect them even after your body has failed you, until you die or are rendered incapacitated utterly. You will not needlessly kill, nor will you allow such atrocities to go unanswered. This do you swear?!" he finished with conviction, he then motioned for his sister to approach each of them took one side, the man took the right, the woman the left.

Zaine's vision was swimming with the pain and bloodloss he had endured, "This I swear! I will not fail to defend those I love, no matter the cost!" he vowed through his gritted teeth.

"Very well, Zaine Tsukioma we the twins known as Za Shotou Ookami accept your oath and will grant you our power." He plunged his fingers into the wounds, his sister did the same, both began to trace strange sigils on Zaine, starting at the center of his forehead and ending in the center of his chest.

Zaine was sweating by now, but he was determined to remain silent. His skin was clammy and pale, his body shook and every nerve in his body screamed for the sweet darkness of unconciousness. Zaine shook his head violently as his eyes began to close. "No!, I will not be weak!" he thought fiercly to himself.


"Stand youngling, and this pain shall end." Said the siblings as one, sounding not like the two seperate people, but one amazingly powerful being.

Zaine did as he was told, looking to both sibilings while swaying slightly.

"May you achive greatness, go forth with my blessings, boy." the female said as she kissed Zaine's forehead.

"May you protect those who are in need of protection. go forth and take my blessings youngling." he man said and embraced Zaine.

Zaine blinked as the two gave their blessings, shocked when the woman kissed him. Then as the man embraced him Zaine was engulfed in a warm safe darkness.


Zaine gasped into conciousness and looked about, quickly attempting to bandage his wounds but finding it a futile task. "Dammit, where are you Kasen!? he shouted weakly, looking for the third seat.

Zaine looked at Kasen with a tired grin, "Did you think I would leave without it?" he staggered to a standing posistion and held his zanpakutoh out, "Bare your fangs and howl, Za Shotou Ookami!" he chanted, his body flared with blinding light and his reiatsu level spiked, once the light faded Zaine stood proudly, in each hand was an exceptionally crafted greatsword, upon each a wolf was engraved in the act of running across a field, each blade was an elegant display of contrast, the right hand sword was pure white, almost snowlike and the wolf engraved upon it's flat was Black as the very shadows themselves. The left blade possesed the same blackness as the opposing wolf on the right sword, The wolf on this blade was ivory, both engravings possessed remarkable detail and appeared to actually be alive. "Does this answer your question?" Zaine asked with a chuckle, passing out before Kasen could respond.
