Razorblade-x-milkshake KiriyamaKazuo Well most snakes eat mice so if you cant do it then maybe you shoudent get one. You could get a Gardner or Ribben snake cus they dont eat mice. Onley problem is most i've seen are pretty mean. eek ah ok.. then I won't, I couldn't do it..I would rather cut my own finger off and feed it that. It's a part of life, I have a baby corn snake, and pet rats. My only thing is that I feed frozen, not live. But if you can't handle feeding them then maybe snakes aren't the best pet for you.

Snakes are really awesome. But there is a point when they deserve some punishment. I capture and release at least 50 snakes from my basement, backyard and pool every summer. After about the 10th rattlesnake it really gets past the point. I don't like seeing more than one snake at one point in time. If there are more then one, I know not to go near.

Methinks you live near or on a hibernaculum. You're probably never going to get rid of those snakes. They'll continue to go there every year, regardless of what you do. =/ A while back, there was a couple who built a huge mansion on a hill, and built everything they wanted and had a wonderful view. The home was finished in the late autumn to early winter, and their first few months were wonderful. However, come springtime, dozens and hundreds of garter snakes began to come up from their basement, crawl spaces, and foundation. They tried everything, from extermination, to repellent, etc. Finally they were told that they had built their house on a hill where snakes go every year to hibernate, and there was nothing they could do to stop it. They moved soon after. wink

Does any one have any suggestions on how to get your pet snake to shed their skin in larger pieces? Mine has been doing it in smaller pieces. -MTTP ninja

MonkeysThrowTheirPoo Does any one have any suggestions on how to get your pet snake to shed their skin in larger pieces? Mine has been doing it in smaller pieces. -MTTP ninja What sort of snake do you have hun? Does your snake have something like a brick, rock or rough bark to rub against? Does he have a water bowl large enough to soak his entire body at once? What are the temps on the cool end and warm end? What is the humidity? Depending on the type of snake his humidity may not be high enough. Or the temps may be wrong. C.h.e.s.h.i.r.e I LOVE SNAKES!!! I want to get a corn snake but I'm not sure where to find one. I live in Oregon and I don't know what places/breeders are reputable. Anyone know? If you don't mind paying for shipping or the idea of a snake being shipped to you, Cathy Love of cornutopia.com is a very reputable can breeder. She is very nice too. Otherwise search on faunaclassifieds.com and kingsnake.com or it may be kingsnakesclassifieds.com. Once you find a deal you like on there, email the breeder and ask them for pictures of the herps and references of who they have dealt with. Ask them how they take care of their snakes, what they are eating and how often. Figure out what temps they have their cages at and how often the snakes are handled. You can also find a nice reptile forum and ask if any has dealt with said breeder. A very good forum is reptilerooms.com Remember before buying a corn you want to read as many care sheets as you can but you also want to talk to as many long term corn keepers as possible. Care sheets are amazing things, but only a long-term keeper can give you hands on information and have experiences to relate to.

Snakes are neat. The only time I've came close to having one as a pet is where I took a garden snake inside for a day but my mom found out and got mad.

This is me and Olly, a Colombian red-tail boa This is Uno, one of our green tree pythons Those are only two of our nine snakes. We feed our behbehs thawed rodents - our two green tree pythons are now eating two pups each at every feeding. The bigger snakes get two rats each at every feeding. We only feed them once a week, but during winter they don't eat much, so we only feed them once a month if they'll take it. It not recommended to feed live prey to snakes because you risk the snake getting injured - rats and mice will bite and/or scratch if provoked, and in some cases they attempt to climb out of the snake's mouth (seriously). The only time you should feed snakes with live prey is if they don't seem to want to eat anything else. For awhile our ball python wouldn't eat frozen/thawed rats, so he only ate live rats until a few years ago. Now he eats the same thing that all of our snakes eat. EDIT: If you can't see the images, right-click to view them, and they'll show up. I don't know why it's doing that; must be a server problem on my end.

Its worked for me lots of times.
