Begins on post 2

Faras contemplates the slightly cryptic statement for a moment before shurgging, glancing around the room to see what was so shocking, from the looks on Kemuri's face.

Lind poked his head out from amidst the tangle of feathers, fur, and limbs on the couch, peering at his guest. He was acting oddly...Was he not feeling well?

"is the hectic life better than a calm family life?" he asked Faras. the other creatures were like nothing to him now, they were all subconciously blocked out... he smiled at the young Lind and poked his face lightly "how's the little viking Lind now?" he said looking away from Faras even before he got an answer for his question.

he laughed a bit as his finger touched Lind's soft skin. it must have been wonderful as a child, still un experienced, wandering and still pure of heart. he glanced back at Faras with a smile as he awaited his answer.

"Wee~eell...both have their good and bad sides..." Faras mused, "so I guess they'd be about equal..."

Lind puffed his cheeks out and poked Kemuri back, before giggling and rolling on his back. "Gooooh'!" he respopnded, flashing a thumbs-up sign

he put his thumb up and grinned widely at the young-in. he put his hand on Lind's head and rubebd it softly as return of the poke that returned his poke. he turned over to Faras and said happily "yep~ i'm sure it does and is~... hm.. where is that pink haired girl from before?" he finally asked. he looked around at the room of all different type of creatures.

"Oh, Rose..ah.." Faras glanced around, as if expecting her to suddenly pop into the room. "No idea."

Lind made a noise somewhere in the neighborhood of "Fbbt!" at the head rubbing, but decided to let it pass. The vikings took their revenge seriously.
Oh yes. They do not waste it on petty things like head-pattings!

Kemuri chuckled as Lind made the strange noise at the head pat. he looked around the rom once more. then he asked. "call me rude if i may, but how do you shove so many people into one room?" he asked. there were dragons and people and other feathery, furry, or fleshy things in the room. he looked back at the older winged boy named Faras with a wondering look as he awaited his answer.

"Eblows!" Lind said cheerfully, making an example of a nearby pillow.

"Very carefully." Faras added, moving his head out of the way of the Herald's flailing arms.

Kemuri giggled as the young Lind made a happy comment to his question. he smiled at Faras as he had said the two words, 'very carefully'.

"what if theres a fire and everybody has to get out of the building?" he asked in a curious tone. "would everybody squish their way out?"

Faras thought for a moment before responding. "Oh, we'd most definatly burn," he said cheerfully.

Lind followed the conversation, slightly lost. But hey, burning! Explosions!

With that happy thought in mind, he mimed something falling from the sky, and hitting the ground with a loud 'BOOOHMMSHHHH~' noise added for the effect.

Kemuri giggled as Lind made the cute boomy sounds.

"well, i'd better get going now. farewell Lind. Farewell Faras. It's been a nice chat with you all. i'll just show myself to the door." he said as he headed for the door.

With a chorus of 'Good-byes!' and "Seeya!"s, the room waved to Kemuri as he left.
Even Hateya managed a tiny wave before returning to her inner musings.
Amazing.

Your Herald is now a child with a personality all her own. Except for the wings, it's almost easy to forget that she was once an angel, isn't it? Even she seems to have forgotten. But the past hasn't forgotten her...

Your Herald has been dredging up odd bits and phrases from some hidden corner of the mind.

What are the words? What do they mean, and how does this fragment of memory return?

Lind watched intently as Mana placed a square block on top of his building, before adding one to his own, carefully scrutinizing both structures to see if one was beginning to become better than the other.
Mana placed another block on his. And so the ancient and ever-changing game of Who-Can-Build-The-Best-Block-Thing continued in it's time-honored tradition.

Lind's hand paused as he lifted it up with another block, but the block clattered to the floor as his arm went limp and fell back down to his side.

"You okay, kid?" Mana asked, brow furrowing slightly as he saw the lack of his usualy cheerful expression.

"It's...all happening too soon." Lind replied, his voice gaining a slightly hollow tone. "We cannot stop it anymore." With a rather mournful look at Mana and an exaggerated sigh, he added; "and my name's not 'kid'." With that, he plonked the dropped block where it was intended to go, and waited for Mana to make his next move.

Already, your Herald has gone through many experiences. His/Her time with you has begun to shape and mold the child. Yet, there are many experiences to be had.

Your Herald has been asked to do something not yet asked of it before. S/He isn't sure how to go about the task.

What is the task? How does your Herald go about to accomplish it? Does s/he come to you for help or does s/he try to do it alone? How does your Herald react to such a difficult task?

Lind sat at the edge of the porch, legs dangling over the edge. With a sigh, he glanced at the front door when he heard it open. Subo stepped out on the porch, hands on her hips.

"Hun, you really need to clean your room."

Well. Well. That was certainly unexpected! His room WAS clean! There was a path from the door to the bed and everything. Really, was she expecting miracles or something? Lind looked up at his guardian with a (hopefully) blank, cute look that would drive thoughts of cleaning out of her mind. But, either from having too much experience with children, or just being in a slightly irritable mood, Lind's attempt at charming failed miserably.

"Googogogo!" She exclaimed, picking him up and setting him in the doorway. With a gentle shove on his back, she sent him walking (read: sulking) down the hallway to his room. With a sigh, he stared at the door which was slightly opened.

Well, it was now or never. Squaring his shoulders, he pushed open the door and wriggled through the opening. It didn't really open all the way. With a sigh, he plopped down where he stood and began to sort through the things within arm reach.

======

A few hours later he had managed to work his way through a third of the junk. How he had managed to get all of it baffled him. Half of the stuff he only vaguely remembered! Though he did find some things that went missing awhile ago. And, he had discovered that the mess started to BOTHER him. He wasn't quite sure how, or why, but it did.

That was very strange.

But he supposed it was good. It would keep Subo off of his back in the future, if anything else. With renewed vigor, he set to work, and managed to get everything (relatively) organized in a (relatively) short period of time.

And now he had more space. Which lent itself to several ideas.....

It was a normal day at the house.

All was quiet. All was normal.

The quiet was shattered by a scream of rage, quickly followed by the pattering of bare feet running. Fast. The front door burst open, seemingly expelling two people (two boys, one young the other in his late teens) out of the interior of the house. The screen door barely clicked closed before it was thrown open with a crash, and a furious teen (a girl, this time) raced out after the two.

One of the first two, the elder, kept on running while yelling something over his shoulder about not doing anything, while the younger halted, grabbing onto the railing on the porch to keep him from flying off. His eyes were focused on the horizon, which were again bearing dark, ominous clouds. A chill passed through him despite the warm temperature, but it quickly passed.

With a large grin, he glanced over his shoulder, before resuming his breakneck pace after the other person.

Hey, 's not like he would let anything, no matter how it frightened him, cause him to fall into his 'sisters' hands. That would be terrible indeed.

Though later in the day (after being caught and thoroughly punished. Stupid girls.) he returned to the porch, sitting in the swinging bench that hung facing the yard. The clouds were back. The never left.

This was bad. Something within his subconscious began to stir, reaching blindly towards his mind with slow sticky fingers. The time has come, it seemed to whisper.

But then it quieted. It had time. It knew it did. With a shudder, he hurried back into the house, suddenly not wanting to be alone and so exposed.

He needed to get something.

Teenage Rebellion
Right. Most of them were gone. This is good. Lind kicked his sandals off on the porch and slowly opened the front door, bare feet making little noise on the floor as he cautiously entered the house. He peered into rooms as he passed them, a bit of his anxiety leaving as each one proved to be empty. His room was only a few feet away when a voice broke the air of stillness he had tried to create.

Damn.

"And where are you sneaking to?" Damndamndamndamn. Of course it HAD to be Hateya. ALkfsdnflskdnfd. Augh. Not good.

"I'm uh....room." Oh yeah. Not suspicious at allll. Way to go, Lind.

"Yeahuh, you're up to someth-...." she trailed off in the middle of her sentance, eyes narrowing as she stared at his face. s**t. "What is that on your face?"

"I...uh....nothing?" Just digging himself into a deeper hole, that's all.

"Did you....You pierced your eyebrow?"

"Uhmm....Igottagobye." He attempted to edge past her to go back outside, but she blocked his way. Auuuuuuuuuuugh. NOT. GOOOD. Abort! Abort!

"AND your lip? Oohohohohoho, you are soooo dead."

"Not if you don't tell anyone." he mumbled, stuffing his hands into his pockets and hunching his shoulders. Yeah. Like that was going to happen.

"...Soooooo dead." she repeated before walking upstairs with an unnatural bounce in her step.

.....damn.

Now that Aethelind's a teen, it's time for a rite of passage: his first (part-time) job! (If you're curious about what sorts of businesses are in the town, or would like to suggest some, just ask.)

Does he flip burgers? Wash cars? Walk around with a billboard? How does he get to work, and how does he get along with co-workers? Do his ...unusual... abilities cause any problems there?

The ceiling had ceased to be interesting a week or so ago. Most of his friends had left with the end of school, the house was always quiet during the day, and the summer seemed to stretch on with no end in sight.

Bored.
Bored.
Bored.

With a long suffering sigh, Lind slid off of his bed, stuffing his feet into shoes before slowly picking himself off the floor. A wallet and keys were grabbed from the dresser as he walked out of his room, fingers opening said wallet by habit to check the contents, though he knew what it held already.

Nada.
Zip.
Zero.
Nothing.

Great. He sighed again as he shouldered the screen door open, hooking the door closed behind him with his foot. But this summer was not a complete waste! No! Not at all! For you see, all of the work he had been doing (mowing the lawn many many times, fixing up various things in the house and the like) had finally paid off! For sitting in the driveway (well...not really a driveway, more like a patch of dirt where the grass had stopped growing due to cars rolling over it)...

...was HIS car. His own wonderful, rusty, not quite working right car. But it was working better than it was when he had gotten it. Though a lack of equipment and parts and money was keeping him from working on it much more.

....
.....dingdingding.
Mr. Lightbulb has a suggestion.

And so, with a whack to the dashboard, the car reluctantly started and rumbled down the road towards town.

An hour or so later he walked out of the garage with a smile on his face, a sheet of paper with a barely legible schedule written on it, and a desire to learn Norwegian.

Equipment? Check.
Parts? Check.
Money? Check.

Job? Check.

Noise, so much noise. The air was filled with it, each heartbeat bringing another wave of it, overwhelming his senses. Wind whipped through his hair as he flew, sending streamers of white flashing around his head.

There is no time.

He stood from his crouching position, observing the chaos below him. Feet slowly stepped forwards until bare toes curled around the edge of the cliff. His message. It needed to be delivered. They were down there somewhere, waiting to hear it.

The steps he had taken forwards were reversed, ignoring the rocks and grit that bit into the soles of his feet. He had a job to do. Wings unfurled behind him, twitching eagerly to start their flight.

And so he ran.

The ground disappeared beneath him, wings snapping open and catching the wind as he plummeted, allowing him to pull up before he hit the ground. The noise was worse down here, almost disorienting. But that can't affect him.

Because he was almost there.

Blue eyes scanned the crowd before locking on to a single person who was looking up at him in shock.

"There is no time." His voice cut through the din of the crowd, echoing hollowly as if it was coming from somewhere far away. "They are coming."

The wind began to blow him back, seeming to go straight through him once his message had been delivered. "There is no time..."

And he was gone. The only thing left remaining was a singly white feather drifting through the air. And the feeling of cold, wet stone under him...

Lind sat up with a jolt, struggling to strip the clingy and suffocating sheets off of him. That was...he shuddered, one hand moving up to rub at his eyes.

Not very nice. He had woken up covered in a cold sweat, and knowing that he didn't want to go back to sleep again. A quick glance at the clock confirmed the way too early hour of the morning, though he could already hear someone moving around the house. Another glance showed the sky lightening slightly, not quite dawn, but not dark, either.

The room seemed stifling, and he seemed to crave the feeling of the wind, so, without a second thought, he stumbled out of bed and towards the window, opening it slowly (as to not make any noise), and stuck his head out. A few deep gulps of fresh air seemed to quiet the bits of hysteria from the dream, but didn't dispel it completely.

So, clearly the obvious choice was to hoist himself through the window, clad only in his pajama pants, and go take a walk in the pre-dawn quiet of the backyard. He simply let his mind wander, letting his feet guide the way, and not really paying attention where he was going. The backyard slowly transitioned to forest, and the path he took was one that was eerily familiar, though one he could never remember taking.

As he stepped into a clearing, the feeling of familiarity grew. A grey stone slab sat in the middle of the clearing, one that was slowly being reclaimed by the forest. Memories slowly began to awaken in the back of his head as he approached it, memories of a storm, wetness, and cold, cold stone.

Well, this was turning out to be a strange, strange day. And it had barely started yet. He stayed at the stone for a while later, simply sitting and watching and thinking.

Although there was still a nagging feeling in the back of his mind. So he was off again, to a spot he frequented as a kid, a pool in the forest surrounded by rocks. He quickly clambered up to the tallest rock, standing at the very edge and staring down at the still water below him. He backed up a few steps.

And then ran. And leaped. Wings snapped open, catching the breeze, allowing him to glide a short distance. a few flaps let him circle back, and that was where his back muscles said "screw it, no."

A loud splash reverberated through the forest.

He would have to work on that.

This was...a good night. Got paid. Had fun.

Oh yeah. AND WAS ASLEEP. Sleep, sleep, glorious, exhaustion driven sleep. Sleep that carried no dreams or waking up in the middle of the night or tossing or turning, just glorious, beautiful, coma like sleep.

Okay, perhaps not exactly motionless. A hand sluggishly moved to scratch at his lip, where he had forgotten to take out his lip ring, or at least replace it with one not likely to get caught in the sheets or his hair or what have you.

And all was well.

Until, of course, the ring started to feel as if it was pinching his lip. Yet again it was scratched and poked around until it stopped.

Of course, now it was his thumb that hurt. Alot. With a muffled and slurred curse, Lind jerked up in bed, sucking on the end of his thumb for a second until the stinging stopped. And when he pilled it out to look at it, he noticed two tiny needle-like marks there. Which was odd.

Odder still was the fact that his lip ring seemed to be moving around on it's own.

"What the HELL!" The offending thing was removed, which took longer than it really should seeing as every time he almost had it, his fingers would start stinging. This whole ordeal was coupled with the constant string of curses which sounded vaguely like "********" until he had it out and thrown on the floor.

And then it started to move.

Curiosity overriding caution, Lind slowly peered over the edge of the bed until he could clearly see what the HELL that thing was doing. And was rather surprised.

Because it somehow turned into a miniature snake.

.....what the hell.

He reached down to pick it up, hand flinching back as the tiny thing coiled up, head raising and mouth opening as if to strike him again (He belatedly realized what that stinging was, it had bitten him several times).

"....Nnnnnooooo." His tone was something like one would use if talking to a dog that was doing something it shouldn't. Surprisingly, the snake closed it's mouth and seemed to shrink back. Imagine that. He reached out to grab it again, but a barely audible hiss was the thing's reaction to that.

"Don't make me come down there," He said in the same tone, cautiously reaching for it again. This time the snake submissively curled up into his hand as it was placed next to it.

Right.

WHAT THE HELL.

He unceremoniously stuffed the thing in his pocket as he grabbed his jacket and ran out of his room.
This....well. He needs to ask someone about this.
Or just kinda freak out about it.

Whichever.

Teenagers are usually associated with wild parties and crazy antics, but what about Aethelind? What does he get up to? Does he get up to anything?

Is it embarrassing? Were there pictures? Will he look back on it fondly, or not fondly at all? Or does he just really get a thrill from baking cookies or staying at home and reading a good book? Tell us about how to have a good time, Aethelind-style.

What did he get up to? Well, one could probably guess seeing his current state. Which happened to be fully clothed and flopped on his bed, completely passed out. Asking him would be out of the question, as he can't answer you right now, seeing that nothing but his alarm clock would wake him up at this point, and were you to ask him in the morning, you would probably only get a bleary glare and a mumble.

Were you to ask him when he was more awake and less likely to have a pounding headache, you might not get much of an answer either. Whether it was because he didn't want to tell you, he didn't remember, or something entirely, that still remains a mystery.

However. Were you to be wandering about the various night life spots of town in the late hours of the night/ wee hours of the morning, you would probably see him about with a group of friends, most likely traveling from one place to the next, and stumbling home a few hours before he had to get up again.

Pictures were undoubtedly put up on whatever social networking website, usually with some rather telling comments and captions to them, but hey.

That's how it goes.
