As the horses walked up to them, Ginger suddenly found she didn't care what other people thought her passion. She loved thestrals, period, and there was no way she was going to pretend she preferred any of the other horses, even though she thought them beautiful as well.
Walking up to the bucket with rats, she pulled on from it's tail and walked directly toward the thestral, making sure to keep a safe distance from the hippogriff at least until she had bowed to it and it had bowed back.
She saw Trista bowing, and watched, fascinated, as she got on the hippogriff's back. Then she held out the rat to the thestral, who sniffed it eagerly, licked it, then took it between its teeth. Crunching noises told Ginger the rat's bones were crushed to powder, and she held out her hand to pat it's scaly black neck.
"Hey, Pretty," She purred to it softly. "Mind if I get on your back?"
As she said that, the thestral shook it's black shiny mane, and Ginger walked to it's side, hoisting herself up with her arms, swinging one leg gracefully over its back.

Persephone watched as both Trista and Ginger managed to get on the thestral's and hippogriff's backs, smiling at how happy they looked. Though she loved thestrals, and already had that same feeling of being examined by them, she walked over to the large white Abraxan. She figured the other students would be more interested in thestrals and hippogriffs, leaving the other winged horses alone.
She held out her hand to the white horse, palm up, and he sniffed it before putting the side of his face up against it. Persephone smiled and began to stroke his face and mane, which was incredibly soft. She could tell the horse was trying to impress her when it spread its huge white wings, larger than Persephone had first thought, and beat them a few times.

Emylee watched as the others got onto the hippogriff. She stood off to the side as not to be seen. Emylee hated heights.

marduke watched but kept her distance, anytime she's around beasts bigger than herself her get trampled.
"professor? do you have any of there young?" Marduke asked over the chattering of others students

Persephone looked around at Marduke and grinned. She knew what Marduke was trying to do.
"C'mon, Marduke, they're not going to hurt you. Here, come pet this one, he's really nice," Sehpie said, indicating the Abraxan.

Mardukes face contorted.
"uhhh idk...." marduke slowly inched torward the Abraxan.
"OMg! no no no, easy easy easy..." mardukes mind went blank as she shut her eyes and felt her hand brush against the beast

Miranda had kept mainly to the back of the class since walking up slightly late. She saw the girls who had moved towards the horses and was especially fascinated by the thestrals which she, fortunately, couldn't see.
She stepped forward, a little bit nervously and picked a rat from the bucket. She turned to her friend for guidance
"Gin, couldn't directing me to the nearest thestral could you?" she asked with a smile.

"Actually, Marduke, the Abraxans were borrowed from Bouexbatons. and the other I got from the forest. I didn't take any of the young or females because males get terretorial over females and females get territorial over the fawns. Therefore, it was safer to just bring the males. Except for the Granians. There are three males and two females. They don't get to territorial." He took his pocket watch out and looked at the time, "He called out to the students, "Alright, we have 20 minutes till the end of class, so I have a treat for you. On many of my travles, you can imagine I became friends with residents. One of them, happens to be a hippogriff. This hippogriff is special. He's as fast as a Granian, smart as an Aethonon, and straight black. That's a rare color for such beasts. Now, he don't take to kindly to having strangers ride him. So no one's riding him today."
Ryu sank at these words. He had really wanted to ride Blackie.
"Anyway, without further ado," he raised his hand to his lips.
Ryu quickly plugged his ears and told those around him to do the same.
Alastar whistled loudly and very shrill. He stopped in about ten seconds. He looked out over the lake to see a speck on the horizon.

Trista listened to the professor, and had been too late for Ryu's warning. Her ears were blasted with the screeching of the professor's whistle, and she was so caught off guard, she almost lost her balance on the hippogriff. She let out a shreak, but quickly plugged her ears when she was balanced again, unfortunately very close to the end of the whistle.
She turned then to watch where the professor was, and saw something flying towards the class, just over the lake. She stared in awe, amazed at the creature that she saw approaching.

Persephone had plugged her ears in time, but saw that a few of her classmates hadn't. The horses reared up at the sound of the professor's whistle, and she had to take a few quick steps back to avoid being hit by the Abraxan's hooves. She turned and saw the small black dot that was the hippogriff flying across the lake. The Slytherin boy, Ryu, seemed to know this hippogriff as well.

Emylee didn't hear Ryu's warning and heard the shrill sound of the whistle. She turned to where the other students were staring, the lake.

Across the lake, the black dot grew larger and larger. It was soon over the lake and landing down next to Alastar, beating it's large, feathery, black wings. The hippogriff was taller than all the other horses, but shorter than one or two of the Abraxans. It was certainly the most beautiful horse there in Ryu's opinion.
Alastar walked forward and told everyone, "Say hello to Blackie. This creature I found on my journeys to be terrorizing a village. The story is a little long, though, and I wish to do it justice, so, seeing how much time we have left, I leave the story for some other time. Long story short, I befriended the beast and it stopped terrorizing the village and it started helping them. He still comes when he's called though." He looked again at his pocket watch and said, "Blimey, is that the time? You've all got 10 minutes more of this class, so here's your homework: Write a one paragraph report on how to distinguish a hippogriff from a griffin to be turned in next class. Also, for extra credit, tell me the largest, smartest, and fastest of the winged horses.

Ginger had been trying to slip off the thestral when the shrill whistle had sounded and her ears were still ringing annoyingly when Professor Alaster announced it was almost the end of the class. She pouted. Just her luck.

Alastar looked around at the students and said, "Class is dissmissed! If you want to stay and ride the horses you may." He walked over to stand in front of Blackie and bowed. He looked up and the hippogriff had bowed back. He walked up to Blackie and patted it's neck.
Ryu placed all his stuff into his leather pouch. He swung it over his shoulder and started off to his next class.

Trista eased herself off of the back of the hippogriff and stumbled over to where she had left her bag. She dug out her notebook and copied down the homework assignment. She then placed her things back into her bag, threw it over her shoulder, and started her way back up to the castle to get ready for her next class.
