Serena walked out of the woods to find a human city in front of her, it made her smile a little. It had been a while since she's been to civilization before, and it made her remember her friends. "Guys, I wonder what you all are doing now" she said aloud as she walked to the city. It was a busy city, with people walking on the sidewalks and cars buzzing through the streets, being just faint blurs to her. The world changed a little in the latest century, and all of her takers had died, or at least she thought so. The only person whom she wasn't sure was that of Canal, her nanny and adoptive mother. Her friends must be angels by now, or at least in heaven being happy and watching over her. Serena held a laptop under her arm, it's cover was silver with blue lines all over it that made it light up. Canal had given it to her before she had left the family all those years ago. It was strange for Serena, along with Lina, Gourry, Amelia and Zelgadiss since they hadn't know Canal like Kaine, Millie, Rail and Nina had.

She looked at it and smiled, with the little symbol on the middle of the cover as she remembered it used to be on Canal's forehead. Serena merely thought it was like a custom for Canal's ancestors to wear something like that since Canal never took it off. Serena sighed as she began to walk down the street, knowing of the war. It made her uneasy to think that Demons, Angels, and even Halflings like herself were going to get involved, maybe some humans too. Serena didn't like it all that much, humans had nothing to do with the war, yet they were caught in the middle of it anyway. It made Serena angry, but not for very long, her long dress she wore around herself fluttered a little as the wind picked up. The only reason why she was wearing a dress was because her clothes were dirty and needed to be clean.

Serena herself would clean them but just water wasn't going to get them clean. She had to go to a Landry mat to do her washing, so she did, she walked into a Landry mad and paid the counter person money so she could wash her things.

As the sun began to rise and the birds began to chirp, they were shocked to see the same lonely stranger walking along the deserted road. His once green cloak was now stained with dirt and sweat. His cloths were torn and had holes the size of rocks from all the bushes that he had traveled across. He was clearly exhausted from many months of trying to return to his home….and the woman that he loved. He felt responsible for all the wrong that had happened to her. After learned she had begun to turn into a horrible demon, he felt it was his duty as a friend and lover to save her from herself. That was the only thing that kept him going. That kept him from collapsing on the ground, waiting for death just to take him.

As he finally walked through the brush, he was relieved to see that the kingdom, his home, was still standing. He looked at the kingdom and shook his head. Look what love does. It just comes into the city and wreaks havoc, he thought as he thought of the war that was now taking places between demons, angels, and half-breeds. He began to walk down the hill and into the city. He wanted so badly just to go see the damage that his love had done to their friends. He wanted to quickly get to his sister and teach her a lesson but he knew that he did not look like himself. He knew that people probably thought of him as a no good filthy beggar. As he looked around, people were spitting at his feet. What, do I look that bad?

As he passed a window he looked into it and was shocked to see a beggar looking back at him. His once kind and golden eyes were now a saddening shade of black. His white hair was caked with dirt actually making him look like he had brown hair. He quickly found the closes laundry mat so that he could wash his close and ask someone for directions to the nearest in and clothing store.

As Serena let her clothes was she waited patiently by sitting on a chair and observing the place. Not many people were there at the time, it was kind of...deserted. That wasn't hard to believe though, most people don't need a Landry mat like this one. They can wash their clothes in their own homes without paying a dime, except for the bill. But to nomads like Serena, it was haven, even if it meant pay, she was going to be able to wear something other than the dress she was wearing now. She smiled at the thought, having clean clothes was nice once in a while even when Serena, herself, was a tomboy. As she waited she read a magazine, though nothing in it really interested her that much. Then Serena looked at the newspaper, nothing in there either other than politics.

It made Serena wonder why Humans were so ignorant, or at least stupid, that they can't seem to sense that there is a war going on. If they did know then maybe more lives would be spared and the war could be over and done with. Serena sighed, nothing like that was going to happen soon, so she might as well get used to it. So, in boredom, Serena opened up her laptop, everything was really new looking, despite Canal saying it was a piece of trash. Canal, you're such a liar Serena thought with a smile as she looked over the laptop. All she did was look over the internet to see if there was anything worth looking at. But there wasn't, nothing that concerned her anyway. "Humans should be more observant, then maybe their stories would be more desirable to read" Serena said out loud.

After a while the washer/dryer with Serena's clothes beeped, which meant that her clothes were done. Serena got up happily and put her new clothes in a basket, she'll have to put them on later. But as Serena was getting her clothes in the basket, a bell sound was heard, indicating that someone had come in. Serena looked up from her laundry and saw a young man with dirty clothes, and brown-looking hair. Brown-looking was the best to describe it since it looked like that wasn't the boy's actual hair color. Serena wasn't sure what to say at him as she was getting her clothes, she had a feeling this person wasn't as human as he looked. And she thought that because she could feel this kind of... Angelic presence, and it made her wonder if this person was an angel.

((Blueyedemoness, lady_releena: I know you two just started, but there is a note under the profile skeleton that says "This is ancient times, so no modern weapons. I will accept modern clothing on the pictures, though." I kind of doubt there would be cars, laundromats, and laptops in 'ancient times'. Some kind of laundry shop would still be acceptable... but if cars and laptops exist, modern weapons like guns would exist too, so I don't think much modern technology is acceptable. Stefisgarden has the final yay or nay.))

((XD Thanks, Kitten. I was about to say that. Glad I don't have to. Cars, laptops, and laundromats don't exist yet. Sorry. I meant it to be long before modern times.

Er...I can't think of anything for Kasumi to do. XD))

As Demitri looked around the shop he saw a human picking up her cloths. He thought about his appearance and how he probably looked just like her kind. Humans were such simple creatures. When they messed up they just shook it off instead of confronting the problem. Then they usually go and make the same mistake again because they never learned from their mistakes. It was amazing that so many of them were still alive but instead of depleting in population they just kept growing.

Demitri looked around the shop and saw that it wasn’t that busy. He quickly walked up to the front desk anxious to take a shower and into a clean pair of cloths. As he waited for the owner, he looked outside and was saddened. The kingdom had changed so much. It carried a sad vibe and it seemed like many people did not want to walk around anymore. The once loved filled kingdom was now turning into a ghost town because everyone was at war with each other. This is probably how my home is going to be like, he thought to himself. When he saw that no one was coming to see what he wanted he walked over to the human. "Um, excuse me miss. You wouldn't happen to know where the nearest clothing store or inn is?" He asked looking her in the eyes.

Serena stopped putting her clothes in a bundle as the young man came up to her. She looked at him and smiled "Well, I'm not entirely sure, I just got here" she told him. She didn't want to admit it but, she, too, wanted to find an inn so that she could rest up. But she just had to wash her clothes first, she hated wearing dresses unless she had to, they were just so uncomfortable. She saw him look at the town a little bit earlier "Boring town isn't it? Can't blame them really, they all just don't want to be caught in this silly war. I think the war is idiotic if you ask me, if I had to guess it were the demons who started the whole thing. They always did want to take over everything for themselves, well most of them anyway. Some were really kind to others, or at least when they first fell in love". Serena, once again, smiled as she was secretly saying this for her parents before they died. She hoped to see them again, but couldn't only the locket on her neck showed them. And, for some reason, instead of an S on the locket there was a C on it.

This made Serena wonder if her original name began with a C before her adoptive parents took her in. But for now Serena would leave that be as she almost got all of her clothes together.

Demon Deimon
User ImageHei was taken off guard by her words yet again, but he recovered almost immediately and leaned forward as she turned away, placing his hand under her chin and gently turning her head to face him. He reached over and kissed her forehead, smiling as he pulled away. "Open yourself to me because I love you, too." He tilted his head a bit, his smile widening, as he leaned forward once again, his lips brushing against hers for a moment before pulling back. "Forgive me." He said, lowering his head, feeling his cheeks get a little warm. He thought she'd get a little upset if he'd kissed her, so he had pulled away right before he could do something that might make her feel violated. She may love him, but that didn't mean she was ready to be kissed by him.

The sensation of Hei brushing his lips nearly made her turn away again. She was so nervous that her entire face was beet red. Slightly moving closer, her lips slightly touched his for a moment before she turned away, covering her face with the bed, trying not to show the embarrassment. " You don't have to say forgive me...I actually..didn't hate that at all.. "

The girl entered the kitchen door. ā€œGood morning!ā€ She said with a smile on her face, although she was actually feeling quite confused and worried for what she was planning to do. She didn’t know what they’d think of her, she didn’t know if they’d approve of her actions. After all those years that they have taken care of her, after all those years they have been with her when she had her ups and downs in life. They loved her like she was their own child. She knew that she would miss them dearly if she left the place, but she would not worry about them since she knew that their powers were far greater than her own, for in all the lessons she had with them, their demonstrations always left her awestruck. Then again, she had never been to the realm of angels and demons. She would always forget that they were merely servants of her parents. She could only imagine how powerful her parents might have been; she could only imagine how powerful the rest of the angels and demons were, and the thought of the endless possibilities that there might just be someone even more powerful than the servants or her parents were just terrible. She didn’t want to go that far, so she stopped herself every time.

ā€œGood morning, Petunia!ā€ The two servants said with a caring, loving smile. You could tell the angel and the demon apart fairly easily by the way they dressed and whatever it was they were doing, because the angel resembled innocence and the demon resembled darkness. The angel had golden locks of hair wrapped by a light yellow bandana, and was wearing a beige coloured apron underneath her white blouse and long skirt. You could smell the sweet aroma of tulips if you passed her by. The angel was making a sunny side up. The demon, however, had curly hair which was as black as ebony, and her eyes were brown with a hint of red. She had been slicing beef, as you could see by the sink, where the chopping board and the knife had dripping blood stains, so did her brown apron. The demon had the sleeves of her black blouse folded up, and had already washed her hands. She was about to wash the board and the knife. But do not be deceived by the looks of the demon. Both the angel and the demon had, in fact, dainty facial features and figures, and both were very fond of their loved ones – Petunia and the orphans.

The girl didn’t think that she would miss the orphans as well when she was gone until she heard footsteps upstairs. She went outside so she could set up the table. When she looked up, she could see each of the orphans getting out of their doors – Johnny, Sammy, Blake, Jamaica and Sally. When they turned around and saw Petunia, they shouted: ā€œGood morning, Petunia!ā€ grinning with joy, and as anyone could tell, filled with excitement because it was the start of a new day. Petunia giggled every time the orphans greeted her that way. She never got tired of it. ā€œDinner’s almost ready everyone, so come to the dining room!ā€ The kids rushed down the stairs and went to sit down in their chairs.

As she poured milk in each of the orphans’ cups, she looked at each of the happy faces of the orphans. Her heart pierced more as she moved on to the next cup. She could no longer withstand the pain of having to leave these people, but things needed to be done. She had made her decision. ā€œI can’t take this anymore! If I want this done I have to do it as soon as possible! I’ll talk to them in the kitchen after they serve breakfast.ā€ And just when she was about to go into the kitchen, the angel and the demon came out. ā€œBreakfast is served!ā€ The angel and the demon said with delight, pushing out a trolley that had a plate of eggs and beef for the children. The girl got out of the way so they could pass. ā€œGreat, just great, all the people I’m going to miss are right in front of me. How am I ever going to do this? The pain…I can’t take it!ā€ Finally, teardrops ran down her face, and the girl sniffed. But no one heard her. The orphans were all staring at delicious looking eggs and beef on the table, swallowing their saliva with their tummies growling. The angel and the demon thought one of the orphans was sniffing the smell of the food when they heard it. ā€œBon Appetite!ā€ The angel said to the children. The children dug in as though it was their last supper. And when they turned around, they noticed that the girl was crying. They paused in shock.

The angel and the demon walked slowly as though nothing had happened, for if the children found out they would be worried too. The demon arrived in front of the girl first. She placed a hand on the girls shoulder and whispered to her: ā€œCome to the kitchen dear, surely you don’t want the children to worry and cry like you too?ā€ The girl wiped her tears and nodded in agreement. The three of them went into the kitchen. Then, the angel said to her ā€œWhat happened dear? Is something the matter?ā€ The moment the angel asked her about it, she took a deep breath to calm herself down. The sadness she had kept in was about to burst, but she managed to hold it in. ā€œI want to end the war, I want to end this once and for all, I can do it, just tell me how! Tell me how I can do it just like how you’ve taught me how to use my powers. I want to try. I don’t want to just stay here for the rest of my life and do nothing about it!ā€

Both the angel and the demon looked down on the floor. They too took a deep breath, for they knew that this day had to come. The demon wanted to scream at the angel, but then remembered that the children were outside. ā€œI told you we shouldn’t have told her about her powers, I told you we shouldn’t have told her anything, but now. You thought that she had the right to know. I told you so!ā€ The demon turned to look at the angel, and the angel looked up to say to the demon: ā€œShe’ll have to know it eventually, not every child goes through that stage of puberty. How are we supposed to hide the obvious? It’s better than having her lost for the rest of her life, trying to find her identity. What, do you think that we can bring her to the village doctor like the rest of the children? They’ll call the police! They’ll send her to a circus and she’ll spend the rest of her life in misery!ā€ The demon walked towards the angel, and as they continued to argue the girl was in a very confused state. She didn’t know what to say or what she could do to stop this argument. She thought about it as she listened to the angel and the demon arguing over the matter.

After a minute or so, when the angel was about to say something to the demon again, she interrupted. ā€œI know my parents wanted me to be protected from all this, but we cannot let more people suffer because of the war. If this war had ended earlier, we would have been living harmoniously; both angels and demons would be living harmoniously; I wouldn’t be living in hiding; my parents, your master, would still be well and alive.ā€ The girl left the demon and angel speechless. After the silence, the angel walked to the kitchen door and said: ā€œI’m getting the necklaces.ā€ The demon didn’t stop her, for the girl made a good point.

The angel went back into the kitchen and placed two necklaces in the girl’s hands. One was silver with a purple gem and the other was golden with a blue gem. ā€œThese are the necklaces that we use to travel to both the realms of the angels and the demons. All you have to do is hold one of the gems and you will be transported to the realm.ā€ The demon interrupted: ā€œThere are two people who are rumoured to be the people that will end the war of the angels and the demons.ā€ The demon walked towards the girl. ā€Chances are that it may not be true, but it is our only hope. Isamu lives in the demons’ realm and Kasumi lives in the angels’ realm. Find them and talk to them. See if they can find a way to end this.ā€ The girl looked at the necklace that the angel had given her. She then held them tightly, and hugged both the angel and the demon. ā€œThank you so much!ā€ Both the angel and the demon hugged her as well.

After that, the girl remembered something: ā€œWon’t they find out? What must I do? What will you say to the children?ā€ The demon said to the girl: ā€œYou will have to talk to Isamu and Kasumi when they are alone. Try to keep yourself unseen from the people at all times in case you come across someone powerful. Powerful angels or demons can tell if a person is a half breed or not. As for the average angel or demon, as long as you have the necklace that brought you to the realm on your neck, they’ll have no evidence to say that you are not pure angel or demon, even if you look suspicious.ā€ The angel giggled and said to the girl: ā€œYou can tell the necklaces apart, right?ā€ The girl smiled and nodded with confidence. ā€œDon’t worry; we’ll know what to say to the children. If you want to come back, just touch the gem and you will be back in the kitchen again. You’ll be able to grab something to eat here if you ever get hungry, and I’ll lock the kitchen door at all times to make sure that the children do not come in.ā€ said the angel.

The girl sighed with relief, and at the same time she was filled with anticipation and excitement, for she knew that it was going to be a big adventure. The girl said to both of them: ā€œAlright, guess I’ll be off then. I'll miss you; tell the orphans that too!ā€ ā€œWhich realm will you go to first?ā€ The demon grinned as she asked her curiously. The girl placed the silver necklace in her pocket and held the blue gem. Then, she disappeared.

Kasumi hurried to her room so that she could be alone. She didn't want any of the other angels to know about her and Isamu. It would mean Isamu's death and her exile. As she walked down the hall, she was aware of the others staring at her, wondering why she was in such a hurry. She was relieved when she came to the door to her room. She quickly walked in, closing the door behind her. Then she walked onto the balcony and leaned on the rails. This war needs to end. Everyday, people suffer. Everyday, people die. And no one remembers what even started this stupid war! Why fight a pointless war!? If it wasn't for this war...Isamu and I wouldn't have to meet in secret... she thought and sighed. "I don't want to marry that man..." she said aloud, referring to the angel that had been in the throne room earlier. "I don't love him..." I love Isamu...
PostPosted: Wed Jul 22, 2009 9:19 am

A candle in Kasumi's room flickered, appearing to be about to die, and then roaring like an open flame. It reached out, growing until it appeared as if it wished to light the room on fire. It continued to grow and change in shape until it was about the size and proportion of a man, and then snapped into reality. Isamu had made his appearance in the room. He walked out to the door to the Balcony. "Kasumi . . . " he whispered, trying not to be too apparent to any watchful eyes.

Irura exited the council chambers, following another war breifing. She shook her head in dismay. This wasn't the life that she wanted for herself. She walked to the tavern outside the Demon Council, a rather lavishly decorated place frequented by many of the council's lieutenants. She ignored many of the Jeers that the full-blooded Demons gave her. She sat down and ordered a drink, the half-breed slave behind the counter fetched her one, also carrying an air of contempt.

She drank her drink and thought.

FLASHBACK

Isamu caressed her cheek, brushing away the tears that ran down her face. "Why do you cry?"

"Because . . . you are the first person to treat me as though I were not so much garbage on the side of the road." Irura reached up and dried her eyes, quickly regaining her composure.

Isamu smiled. "The day is coming, when it won't matter what you are." Isamu turned and walked away. "Don't worry, Miss Anisoha, You and I will meet again."

END

That was the first time Isamu and Irura had met, and he had earned her loyalty to him immediately. And it had only been a token gesture, helping her pick up the briefings she had dropped. She ordered another drink.

User ImageHei's face loosened, bringing it into a warm, gentle smile. He hadn't been so happy in a long time. The feeling of her lips against his, made him feel nearly complete bliss. When she turned away, he looked down at her and was glad from what she spoke next. He was glad she didn't mind and he would have kissed her there, but thought about the fainting and decided against it for now. "I have to do something tomorrow. Will you be staying her tonight?"

Dimitri sighed as he heard that she also didn't know. He was saddened that he probably had to spend another day away from his family and his love. This just made him feel useless. He felt that everything was his fault and that he was just running away from the problem instead of confronting it. He knew that one day away from his love is one day extra it will take to get her back to normal. He grounded his teeth as he thought of the evil his sister could also inflict on her.

Dimitri looked up and saw the girl looking at him with a puzzled look on her face. He finally realized that she was talking to him and tried to smile. "It never used to be like this," he said looking back outside. "It was once a lively place. Street venders everywhere and people would always walk around with smiles on their faces." He said smiling himself as he remembered the way that his friends and he used to go courting for girls. "As for who started the war, I do not know. It seems like everyone is at fault I believe. Evil can come out of the most innocent of people and it can ruin a life so fast," he said frowning.

He looked back over at this girl and realized that he hadn't asked her name or anything. "Oh look, I have forgotten my manners," he said blushing. "My name is Dimitri," he said holding out his hand. "I belong to a clan of angels that live in this kingdom. What is your name miss?" He asked.

Amaya stretched.
Jeez, there was nothing to do! She got bored easily and felt nothing but emptyness. Feeling annoyed, she stomped on the packed dirt under her. Glaring at the town in the valley, Amaya stomped again. It was a muffled thump that she heard. That was all. SO not satisfying.
After having a little stomping fit (because she felt like it), Amaya paused.
Why do I want to go down there? It's just a stupid town, thats all. Either way, she felt like she should walk down there.
And so she did.
Walking slowly annoyed her, so she speed-walked, but nothing that would give her away to the humans. Like they could speed walk at thirty MPH, the speed where an adult human would find very fast.
Not sure what to do, she slowed down as she entered the city. Looking curiously at shop windows and people's homes.
Closing her eyes, she sighed.
There really was nothing to do.

~~~
Enya frowned.
When would the fun part ever start?
She couldn't wait to fight.
