Iopurl hadn't intended to resort to fighting between party members, let alone on the boat, but when the boy had puffed his chest out animal instincts had let him know that he meant to attack. He had been about to place the young pup in his place, when one Jurie Arks had interrupted what could have been a messy encounter. As Reyin apologized and launched himself over the boat, Iopurl looked to those remaining on the boat, before addressing Jurie back, but speaking loud enough so everyone on the boat could here.

"My name is Iopurl, and I am honored to meet you"

With that he moved towards the side of the boat, raising a clawed foot to the side, and clutching the bar with his far less than human toes. Holding onto a nearby pole of some sort, Iopurl pushed off his raised leg, tugging on the pole slightly as he did, so, launching himself heavily off the boat. The small craft would sway slightly due to his manner of leaving, but not enough to cause anyone to feel unwell or fall over, perhaps just momentarily feel off balance.

Iopurl landed close to Reyin, but his launch had gotten him far enough away to avoid what would have been a very heavy and deep landing in the mud. Instead there was a small splash, most likely catching Reyin on his legs and lower torso. The beast-man turned around and extended a paw/hand in the direction of Reyin

"I apologize for my earlier actions, I hope this won't affect our future relationships."

((Pushing this along.))

After the party mingled for a bit, they would begin to move forward into their new territory. As the party past through the veil of the fog, their eyesight becomes limited to only seeing what is twenty feet ahead. Anything beyond that is just the faded white background of the fog's constant impediment on their vision. The land around them constantly rises and sinks into the waters of the slow-moving creek that they lie in. The deepest depth that the waters will go is four feet, and the occasional fish or turtle will pass by in the murky waters. Only the carefully watching would see them. However, a sudden shiver runs along the characters' spines, goosebumps creep along their skin, and the sense of impending doom ravishes their minds as the fog acted as a conduit of the evil that was spreading through this bayou.

Keeping forward, the party will suddenly spot a large alligator sitting on a lone island out in the water. The alligator has a length of seven feet, though horns are located on the back of its neck. In addition, it seems to have a more monstrous snout. Fifteen feet separates it from the shore, and another fifteen feet separates the island from the other side, where more land was present. The animal was currently asleep, its eyes closed off.

Iopurl had been walking at the lead of the group, smelling the air periodically for anything strange, or hoping that if something came running out of the fog at the group, he would at least have the advantage of knowing that something was coming, so that it wouldn't be a total surprise.

Finally the group came to the edge of their island, where on the furthest island a large alligator was resting. Iopurl drew to a stop, and immediately scanned the waters around their island, and out as far as he could see, taking a deep inhalation of the air. Where there was one animal, there was more than likely more.

"There is danger up ahead, whatever path we take from this point, we shouldn't take to the water directly ahead of us. This beast's natural domain is the water, it would take us apart."

Iopurl turned to the group and with an open invitation for others to talk he addressed them

"Does anyone have any suggestions about what we should do?"

"Yeah, sure, whatever."

There was a little handshake, and then the adventure seemed to get underway. Reyin had taken up his position somewhere near the middle of the group, obviously still in a sour mood from his less-than-graceful dismount from the boat. He'd occassionally shift the contents of his backpack around, but for the most part he remained unusually silent, narrowing his eyes as he stared forward through the fog.

"No matter how many times I run into this stuff, I'll never get used to it."

He was referring to the fog that surrounded them, the same fog he had run into during the last hunt. It was subtle, but every moment spent inside the confines of the swamp was a moment that Reyin would rather spend somewhere else.

Once they reached another shoreline, Reyin came to a halt. It wasn't that the fog had finally done its job, it was that there was a giant lizard standing between them and the opposite shore.

"Well, I'm gonna have to agree with our furry friend here."

Reyin's hands went to his hips and he furrowed his brow.

"Ten bucks says that thing's faking it. And I don't wanna be in the water when it gets up. Anybody got any rope? I wanna try something awesome."

"Yes." The frogkind spoke in a hushed tone, "Ze enemy iz likely using zee fog to hide zere numbers. Now, we may be able to do zee same."

Webbed finger pointed up to the trees over the river, and then nodded to the others.

"Iopurl, he iz right. Even I will be, ummmm, outmatched in zee water against such a beast." But there was a glorious gleam to the frog's dark eyes and moved his point from tree to tree, "However! I beleive I can take to zee trees, move with zee haste, and assault from above. Zat way zee monster, it weel underestimate us."

Then he nodded in the direction of Iopurl, still keeping his voice low.

"Perhaps you have zee way to sneak up also?" Then a look to Reyin, "And zees may work with zee rope plan?"

"Well, I wasn't really thinking about like...jumping on the thing. But hell, if you want to alligator wrestle then I don't see any sort of reason to stop ya."

He reached up and took off his safari hat, tossing the thing into the nearby swamp. There really wasn't any point in protecting his face anymore, whatever bright sun there was wasn't really piercing through the fog enough to make him squint his eyes.

"Might as well help out if I can."

Reyin unslung his backpack and set it on the ground next to him, slipping his bow from his left shoulder and freeing an arrow from the quiver that had been smashed against his back by the baggage.

Hell, he had seen the 'rope arrow' trick work in so many movies that Reyin would have been a fool to NOT try it.

Scanning the waters, Iopurl would find nothing out of the ordinary, meaning that there was no other beasts inside the water other than the random catfish.

The alligator continued to lie there incredibly still, like any good alligator was capable of doing. There was no indication of whether it faking or really asleep. The only thing that stated it was was its eyelids being closed. Aside from the constant background insect noises, their voices were just as loud. Even whispering could seem to put the atmosphere on edge.

Iopurl looked at the small frog man, and then back at Reyin, before letting a sigh escape from his mouth, followed by a sharp exhalation of air from his nose, causing a loud noise due to his snout. He craned his neck one way, and then the other, before slowly reaching down and grabbing a small rock that was ahead of them.

"Well, if I'm honest, I would rather fight our friend outside of his own element, so if you'll excuse my brashness..."

With that, Iopurl brought his arm back, and with a mighty lurch, sent the rock hurtling through the air. It made a small whistling sound as it travelled, spinning and twisting in the air, before finally making an abrupt halt at the alligator's side. There was a loud thud, and whatever reaction the alligator produced.

((Sorry it's short, I need Vin to fill in a reaction before I can do anything else))

WHAT!?!?!?

Jurie would dart up to catch the man's arm as he reared back to throw the rock at the potentially sleeping behemoth, her eyes bewildered that the group was so eager to start up their venture into the depths of battle so early.
"Cut it out!" She'd jeer out in a hush, her often bright gaze turning to a darker tone for but a few moments. "We are not obligated to follow any single path, much less a single route. Our destination is north of here and our organization itself told us that ' the straightest path is not always the fastest'."

Quoted word for word for anyone who paid attention. How Jurie loved to be proper about that sorta thing.

"Come, I'm sure there's a way around, even with the foul beast but moments ahead. Lets save our strength for the REAL threat, not the monstrosities that have spawned from it."

Iopurl turned his head swiftly to watch the woman grab his arm. The fur would have had enough give that he could have still thrown the rock if he had chosen, but instead he simply relinquished the rock, causing it to drop to the ground with a thud.

"This beast has been changed, can you not see it in his appearance? There is something foul about his looks, his harmony with nature has been disturbed. His existence only a cruel mockery of his previous life. I cannot in good conscience allow him to continue to live."

Iopurl made this point clear, looking at each and every one of the group. He lowered his hood at this point, allowing each member to finally look back into his face for the first time. His animal features crumpling into a frown after searching every party member's gaze for a response.

"No matter what happens we are going to have to cross water, as Reyin said, do you trust this twisted creature to not sit there and pretend to rest? Suppose his act is simply a farce, and the moment we step in the water he strikes, or half way through wading he moves. I guarantee one of us will not be able to exit the water fast enough. Do you truly wish that upon your conscience?

It would be better to provoke the beast, and draw him to us. It will give us ample time to strike from a distance, and if worst comes to worst and melee combat is engaged, at least we will be on solid land, and able to see the beast clearly, more importantly."

Iopurl turned again to look at the alligator, his face a mixture of distrust and displeasure. There was something wrong about this, he didn't like the demonic nature of the beast, nor did he trust its corrupt mind.

"Stubborn." She scoffed as her cheeks puffed out, turning her gaze around to take a good look of the area. Surely there were plenty of other directions they could take and with a bit of backtracking the blacksmith was sure she could find a better path to traverse upon. One way or another though it seemed like if she chose this path she'd have to break from the group, or at least convince the group to break away from Iopurl, both of which weren't very favorable in her eyes. Sure he had some credibility in his arguments, but the blacksmith just wasn't biting into his statements like he was putting it out to be.

She'd look at him in the eye as his animalistic features came forth, her gaze waving only for a moment as he gazed about at the party. None the less... in but mere moments she'd take up her mantle of strength once more and carry on, pressing closer to the man as she spoke her words.
"You speak like we MUST confront the creature, and I can already see that the understanding of rescue is beyond your limit of reasoning. I see this confrontation as a pointless endeavor at best, a waste of energy when we could simply find a way around and away from the monstrosity's sensory range. All the same... you do what you must do, Mister Iopurl, but that beast is not one to be trifled with." She turned away from him and found herself a place between the party and the potential threat before them, figuring that if the beast came close enough she could at least be a barrier between the rest of the party and the creature when it came charging forth.

Renshia was in the rear when the group abruptly stopped and Iopurl pointed out concern about a large alligator not too far from where they were. With their numbers surely they could take on one of them but as Jurie pointed out, wasting a few minutes going around the best would be a more prudent option than picking a fight for what may be a trap.

While they argued over what to do, Renshia was in favor of the frogman's idea of using the trees scattered about the marsh. She stepped away from the group and walked to the edge of dry land and looked for the nearest tree, swishing her tail about curiously. Her crimson eyes locked onto one that seemed sturdy enough to support her weight but it was a ways off. Figuring the best way to reach it was to use momentum to thrust herself into the air, Renshia started taking steps backwards, eyes glued onto the tree.

Unfortunately the patch of land was too small and muddy from where she stood so she decided to start several feet back the way they came from and run in an arc. Whether this would work or not, she'd find out in a few as she planted her feet down, one ahead of the other and arching forward, her tail stiffening like a hound dog. And then she was off, arms and legs moving and swinging vigorously.

A small groan came from the beast, caused by the party's talking. A little moving of its tail...and nothing else. Maybe it was having a bad dream of sorts. A dream of its prey keeping away from its snapping jaws.
