"And I am?" Darren-Alerin asked sharply; had he been raised any differently, it might have come out as a strangled squawk. But he had been raised a prince, and thus always held himself proud and composed as one, so his voice was commandingly inquisitive rather than surprised to the point of mild discomfort.
And he was feeling awkward. In a tavern such as this, he was already out of his element, and he knew it. What made things worse was that the mage he had been seeking out was much, much different than reputation had him.
Darren had heard tales of a sort of justice-vigilante, a freelance warmage who showed up whenever the people who wanted to see him least didn't want him to. He'd heard of terrifying power and cunning tempered by chivalry... and he was getting hit on by a white-haired, young-faced mage? Things simply weren't adding up.

Bailey was not dissuaded from the situation by the mage's statement, simply more intrigued and, unfortunately enough, drawn like a bee to honey.
"How do you know what I am?" The pirate purred, leaning back on the bar top by his elbows and speaking in a tone that somehow had lost a slight bit of inebriation. As if to remedy the fact, Bailey tipped the ale up and finished it quickly.
"'sides. In a group like this who wouldn't get getting their own cup of... whatever." A sly wink again, and then a drunk giggle. Clearly, Bailey's intoxicated thought process had taken him/her to a conclusion that may or may not have been shared by the entire group.

Emry's smile falters a little before it's right back up, sunny as ever-- once he's safely out of grabbing distance, and slightly behind the Prince. He doubts his royal highness has ever been used as a shield before, as he's usually the one being shielded. Emry's about to do the prince a great favor and return the throne to him, so the mage feels perfectly at ease taking such liberties with Darren's person.
"I'm not quite sure what you are," he says easily, with much more finesse than he had before; before he'd been unsettled and waiting for a prince to show up and convinced he'd have to go out to find and save the boy from assassins. Now he was perfectly comfortable, as the prince had made it safe and sound. "But I do know what I am -- which is, not the sharing type. Right, Alerin?"

"Right," Darren replied without much conviction. He had suddenly found himself standing in front of the mage Conte rather than behind him, and he had the sinking suspicion he'd just been forced into the role of a shield or even as -- gods forbid -- bait of some sort. He was a prince, after all, and the ladies of the court had all been keen to spend time with him (he wasn't blind -- just chivalrous).
Coughing awkwardly, Darren edged closer to the mage, an action which may have been construed as some sign of affection. It wasn't-- it was pure self-preservation instinct which drove Darren close to the mage who could possibly save him and his kingdom from his uncle. And further away from the he-she pirate. Yes, it wouldn't do to forget the flirtatious pirate with a downright predatory air about her.

Bailey eyed the two for a moment, a more shrewed gaze than might have been expected in a small-ish person of his/her size, and then shrugged almost dismissively. Eyes the color of the seas she sailed changed subtly, so subtly that it would have surely been missed by anyone that missed the blink that concealed it, to a dark blue - one of skies becoming night as the last of the sun breathes out a dying ray.
Then she hopped up onto the bar top gracefully, far more gracefully than any truly intoxicated patron should have been able to, and called for another drink. Of course, if anyone knew anything about pirates it was that you never could tell based on their actions alone if they truly were drunk, or if they were just getting warmed up.
"How do you know you're not the sharing type if you've never tried it?" She looked down to the dark, beautiful woman now and passed her a conspirator's grin. "I'm sure my recent acquaintance here could attest to the merits in exploring your surroundings, and options, thoroughly before making your decision - right?"

Ina looked down to find another whiskey in front of her and blinked, looking up at the pirate and raising an eyebrow at it, her little amused smile falling into place again. She noted the look in his/her eye(s), the grin that stretched it's face, and went over her previous words in her mind. Coming upon several seemingly innocuous words, her own face split in a grin.
Wrapping her fingers gracefully around the cool glass, she took a slow sip. She kept her eyes trained on the pirate, evaluating it, taking in the sun leathered skin and bleached hair. It was... interesting. Fascinating, actually.
"Oh yes..." she replied, voice low and smoky as she pulled out a cigarette. "Life's always more fun when you keep your options... open. Think things through... thoroughly.... A little exploring's never been a bad thing, in my book. You discover so many new things." She leaned back, her damp clothes sticking to her figure a bit. "Anybody got a light?"

Emry's always the kind to show off just a little -- and maybe he owes Darren some confirmation of his talent, since he's literally dragged the boy into this -- so he leans forward, out from behind his impromptu shield, when the traveler asks for a light.
"Let me assist you there," he offers graciously and then flicks his fingers; lightning sparks from his fingers, though it isn't quite so wild as it should be, or as Emry usually likes it to be. It's controlled, a burst of electricity and heat that succeeds in lighting Ina's cigarette perfectly before it twists back to dance across Emry's fingers and dissipates.
"As for sharing-- I've tried, I really have. But I'm afraid I'm just not very good at it," Emry demurs with mock-ruefulness.

"Not with me, you haven't," Darren asserted. He had to put it out there- while he was resigned to being pegged as the mage's boyfriend or lover or something, he was not going to stand for being thought to have tried something as risque and unprince-ly as... 'sharing'.
His niggling little doubt and fears were allayed at the mage's display. Darren assumed it was mostly for his benefit -- the lightning trick was impressive, and probably the very least of what Conte was capable of. At least, that was the impression Conte was giving, and if it was true, the thought was soothing.

Bailey chortled and smiled thoughtfully and he/she also thoughtfully passed a rakish gaze over the form of the woman who seemed to not mind how her clothes clung to tightly to. An appreciative sigh escaped the finely curved lips and then her eyes twinkled upwards to the mage again - he'd been her first this evening and she was finding it more and more difficult to give up.
"Oh-ho, but practice does make perfect!" She glanced at the younger of the two, not in appearance, but in behavior, and then back to the mage. "Maybe you just didn't have the right tutor - you never know what the right kind of group would provide in terms of learning. You are interested in knowledge, aren't you?"
Short of quipping a pun about leveling based on experience, Bailey wasn't sure how much further she could carry the innuendo.

"Thank you," Ina murmured, inhaling the smoke and letting it out with a slow breath, blowing it up towards the pirate with a mischievous little grin before turning her attention to the two men. She took in the awkward stance of one, how he'd relaxed at the other man's display of power. So... a business relationship then. Interesting. She tucked that nugget away and went on, continuing her teasing.
"You were an only child, weren't you?" she asked, tracing patterns in the condensation on her glass. "It's important to know how to share... I mean, I'm as selfish as the next girl, but...." she grinned slowly. "And I'd have to agree with our roguish friend here... practice makes perfect. I'm always open for a learning experience." Her eyes twinkled at the pirate for a moment.

Nicoli paused as his metallic claws touched the heavy iron bar. For some reason, a strange sense of foreboding and lecherous energy was coming from behind the door. He decided to throw caution to the wind, however, and pulled the heavy oak open. As he took off and shook out his cloak, the enchanted sapphire beneath his red and gray eyeband took in the five strange individuals and the barkeep. A pirate wrapped in enough fabric and metal to hide even the possibility of gender, a nobleman, a druid, a seeming child, and a mage. 'And I thought it was dangerous in here,' he thought, checking over his black chainmail coat for any rust spots; luckily, there didn't seem to be any problem areas.
When he turned around and actually faced the group, his emerald green eye alighted on the barkeep as he grinned at her. He shook out his black and gold hair as he sauntered over, his gray and crimson wings stretching from their cramped hold against his back. He'd been friends with Hikari for three years now, and she was one of the people who always got his tea exactly right.
"Hello, Hikari. Can I get my usual please?"
