 Before he could answer her questions, Dolci was gone leaving a tiny cloud of dust behind. His ears perking up at the sound of a challenge, he took a deep breath before sprinting forward at full speed and within minutes was easily by her side.
She was smaller so that would give her an advantage when it came to speed but his legs were stronger and he used that to propel himself forward faster, passing her up to launch himself into the water, splashing it everywhere around him, kicking his legs through the water to try and rinse some of the mud off of them.
"Looks like your the rotten apple..!" He called out to her, moving forward into the deeper water, ducking his head down to splash some of the water in her direction with the tip of his nose.

 The smile that spread across her muzzle was wide, incredibly amused, and absolutely genuine. She watched as Yuuki went flying into the lake, splashing through it like a young colt rather than an adult pony. It was cute, despite Yuuki's normal demeanor. He usually seemed so ... business-like, and a little eccentric (after all, there weren't many other ponies that took it upon themselves to patrol the perimeters of the pasture nightly), and maybe a bit unfriendly... but clearly, he was not!
Dolci's long strides never stopped and she galloped her way down to the edge of the lake. She didn't hesitate, not even for a moment, and she took large, stomping steps into the water. It felt so nice on her coat, she could literally feel the dirt and grime being splashed off and away. And the bright sun now settling into the sky was warm enough that the cool water was at a welcome temperature.
She giggled happily and ducked down under the water's surface, swishing her head and her mane to work the last bits of mud off of her. The reflective liquid practically gleamed pink and magenta around her as she went in deeper, revealing her pretty pelt the way it was meant to be seen.
"I guess so!" Bubbled up out of her, half in laughter and half in speech. Her nose scrunched as more water was splashed on her, but a devious glint flashed in her eyes.
Moving through the water enough that she had to tread to keep herself above the surface, she inched her way over towards him. Smiling innocently while the wheels turned in her head. When she was close enough, she spoke to him casually, smiling that much wider.
"You must like the water, Yuuki," spoken with a nudge to his flank with her nose. "Seraphim even gave you goldfish on your coat."
But as soon as her voice went quiet, she maneuvered deftly. Lifting one of her front legs and hooking it over his shoulders, before giving a firmly enough push down.... to dunk him down under the water.

"I suppose I do like the water, yes. I'm not sure if it has anything to do with the designs Seraphim gave me, but it's fitting." He nodded his head slight in agreement, kicking his legs back and forth quickly to keep himself afloat in the deeper waters, eying her as she swam closer and closer.
He knew she was up to something, the look on her face, though she tried to appear innocent, gave her away completely and then when he saw her lift one of her hooves, her knew he was going to be going under the water.
He took a deep breath, filling his lungs with air and then he found himself surrounded by the lake, moving his head back and forth to get the dirt out of his mane while he could, kicking his legs quickly to push himself back up toward the surface, breaking through the water before pulling himself over to the shallow part of the lake so he could stand, shaking his head quickly to get some of the water off of himself.

Dolci cackled in delight, pushing off and diving back under the water once Yuuki moved into the shallows. Doing somersaults in the water, like she wished she could on land. She worked every last bit of gunk off of herself, even swishing her tail back and forth once she popped back up to the surface just to make sure it was free of debris (and successfully splashing herself in the face in the process).
But after a moment she was satisfied in her cleanliness and she treaded, and then trotted, her way back to the banks. Hopping up onto drier ground and kicking her back legs up to work droplets of water off of her hindquarters.
"Your coat is really pretty," she murmured in late response, while dipping her head to the side to shake water out of her ears. "I don't think I've seen another pony with fish in their coloring."
But as soon as she nudged one last piece of grass of one of her hooves, her stomach lurched inside her. Gurgling and then letting out more of a roar than a growl. "Ohh, I'm hungry." Being stuck in a hole and playing Tag with a pack of wolves and getting caught in a torrent of rain hadn't left much time for dinner. And now that she was clean...
It was definitely...
"Time for breakfast!" Announced with a nod of her head.

Trotting up onto the grass, he shook the last bits of water from his pelt, lifting his head to look her over for a moment before he blurted out a response. "Thank you.. Youarepretty,too." He looked around nervously for a moment before hearing the sounds of her stomach rumbling, it had been a while since he'd eaten so he had no idea how long she'd been waiting.
Walking over to nudge her side gently with the tip of his nose, he urged her toward the direction of the pasture where most of the fruit baring trees were found, his favorite in particular were the apple trees and the more he thought about them, the more he couldn't wait to get something in his stomach.
"I'd forgotten it's been a while since we ate." He trotted forward slowly, waiting for her to follow along. "Let's go get some breakfast then."

Hearing Yuuki's compliment, no matter how quickly it had been delivered, made Dolci smile wide. Really wide. Bordering on beaming, even! She ducked her head to stare down at her hooves, that shuffled slightly against the ground in bashful circles, before she mumbled back at him just as quickly. "Thank you very much."
But the nudging to her side brought her out of her head, which was currently filled with giddy giggling, and she peered over towards the direction she was pushed in.
"Mmm..." Fruit sounded delicious for breakfast. Not as good as Peophynnia's pancakes (that were usually drowned in thick maple syrup and covered in slices of fresh strawberries) or the soft, sweet donuts Gin always seemed to have dozens of every morning around breakfast time. But at the moment, Dolci wasn't picky. Fruit was the healthy way to go, anyway. And, it was still sweet! Which was always a plus.
She trotted up to meet Yuuki, her eyes glazing over as she spotted a perfect, bright green, blemish free pear sitting right on the edge of a tree branch. It dangled there in the distance, taunting her, swaying in the gentle breeze and practically screaming for her to pluck it. But as much as she wanted to go bolting up and cling to the tree and shake every other pear off of it as well, she walked along lazily against the darker pony's side.
"Which is your favorite fruit?" she asked lightly, peeking over at him out of the corner of her eye. "I think I like raspberries the best. And strawberries are good too. Bananas aren't bad, I guess. And I really ...really like pears..."

Listening to her ramble on about fruits, he smiled slightly, watching her from the corner of his eye. Her mane was so long, he wasn't quite sure how she could stand the length, but it was such a beautiful shade of dark pink, it complimented the rest of her pelt nicely.
He found himself a bit distracted, shaking his head from side to side quickly before answering, walking forward to stop underneath one of the trees. "Apples are my favorite, pears are good, too. I'll usually eat just about anything though."
He hoisted himself up onto his hind legs, opening his mouth to pluck one of the shining red apples from a branch on the tree, dropping his front hooves against the ground with a loud thud before trotting forward slowly to duck his head down, holding the apple in his mouth out towards her.

"Apples are good too!" She nodded in agreement. "I like most fruit," came out as an afterthought. "Though I'm not too fond of grapes. ...Don't tell anyone."
Smiling wider still as they approached the small orchard, and as they drew nearer to the pear currently winking at her, it took every ounce of her self control not to go bounding off after it. But she stayed close to Yuuki's flank instead, tossing her head to the side for a moment to let a few wayward water droplets fall into the grass below.
She watched Yuuki in quiet curiosity when he pushed up onto his back legs, looking very much like he was about to try and climb the tree. Wouldn't that be something! Seeing him climbing a tree probably would've been hilarious, ponies weren't exactly built to do much climbing. But apparently, he had no intention of scaling the tree trunk... and when he moved closer to offer her the apple, a flush grew in her cheeks.
Not that it was easily seen, of course, thanks to the camouflage of her markings, but it was there all the same!
Stepping in closer, she leaned in and carefully pinched the red fruit between her teeth. Not enough to tug it away, however, but hard enough to pull half of it off in one quick bite. Then she nosed at his muzzle and nodded once, chewing and speaking as she did so.
"Half for you.."

"Why do you hate grapes?" He mumbled quietly, chewing on his half of the apple slowly before peering over his shoulder in the direction she was eying, seeing the pear swinging back and forth on the tip of the branch.
"If you want it, you don't have to stay with me.. Go get it."
Stepping to the side to make room for her, he lifted himself up to grab another apple from the tree, biting down onto it, letting one half fall to the ground while he chewed on the other, his tail swishing back and forth quickly as he ducked his head down to finish off the other half of the apple absently.

"They leave stains behind." She replied, in a matter-of-fact sort of tone. "One time, I was eating grapes with Usagi, and I said something that made her laugh so hard she ended up spitting them out all over me!" Her nose scrunched slightly as she remembered it. "It was so gross, and the grapes left stains on my face for an entire week."
Though she hadn't realized she'd been staring so rudely at the pear rather than at Yuuki as she spoke and she pawed at the ground with the tip of one of her front hooves. "Sorry..." came out quietly. "I'll share it with you!"
Darting out and around him, she bounded over to the pear tree. The end of the branch bent down further than the rest of them with the weight of the fruit and she was able to pluck to pear off without letting her hooves leave the ground. It smelled absolutely delicious, but she waited until she was back against Yuuki's side to bite the fruit in half.
She chewed her part greedily, letting the juicy fruit stay on her tongue only long enough to taste it before swallowing, and she nudged the uneaten half over towards the other piece of his apple.
"It'ssogood," she said in a muffled mumble. "You should try it."

His ears perked up as he listened to her talk, he couldn't remember if he had ever eaten grapes, they looked good though. He'd have to try them when Dolci wasn't around, if he ended up getting any on her, she'd probably never forgive him.
"You and Usagi get along well then? You two are together a lot."
Staring at the pear for a moment, he leaned in closer to smell it. It smelled very sweet, it smelled good, but he was so hungry at this point that anything would probably smell good and without thinking twice, he inhaled the half of the pear, chewing quickly and swallowing.
"Thank you! It was delicious."

"I like her." And Dolci was with Usagi quite a bit indeed. Maybe not so often for a little while now, unless Usagi decided to bestow upon her thousands of apologies for leaving her behind in the dark, scary forest. But they were friends, very good friends, even if they hadn't known each other too terribly long. "She's nice. When she isn't forgetting me in the woods."
That wasn't something Dolci wanted to dwell on, though. She was happy and was having a nice morning with Yuuki, there was no need to put a downer on their breakfast. So she turned quickly, to keep her small frown hidden from sight, and she trotted back over to the pear tree.
"Would you like another one?" But she was already nudging at the tree trunk with her forehead, pushing on it gingerly juuuust enough to make the leaves rustle and the branches sway. Another nudge and the tall tree shuddered, sending several pears down to dot across the ground.
And one pear, in particular, to bounce off of Dolci's hind end and elicit a startled yelp from her.

Laughing quietly, he trotted over toward the pear tree, nudging her with his nose gently before mumbling. "Are you alright?" He cocked his head to the side, looking her over before ducking his head down to take a bite out of another pear.
"Doesn't look like there was any damage, I think you'll live." He chewed on the pear slowly, leaning down to fold his front legs underneath himself, lowering down to the ground, finishing the rest of the pear before leaning forward to nudge another one toward her. "Have another one, you've hardly eaten anything yet."

"Yeah," she managed to get out between giggles. "I'm okay." Her head craned to peer back at her hindquarters and she twitched her tail just to make sure nothing hurt when she moved. Just a little bop on her behind, that's all it was, but it did make her entire face flush with warmth again.
Spinning around again, so her face was turned towards Yuuki instead, and she bent down and nibbled at one of the other pears. Carefully peeling the skin off with her teeth absently and then biting the flesh off in sections.
Only once she was finished did she lick her lips quickly and reach out with a hoof to nudge another pear closer, bending to devour it in three bites.
As she chewed and swallowed, she lifted her eyes to peer over at Yuuki. Watching him for a moment before smiling, speaking lightly.
"So how come you patrol the pasture every night? Do you like fighting with the wolves?"

"I like knowing that the other ponies are safe and I get bored. I don't really talk much with the other ponies, so it's something to keep me busy at night." He shifted slightly to move further under the shade of the tree, the sun was moving higher up into the sky and it was also becoming much hotter.
He leaned down to take another bite from a pear before nudging it away with his nose. He felt his eyes getting heavy, he really didn't get much sleep last night after she drifted off, to paranoid that the wolves would come back to the pasture to retaliate, he had stayed awake for the most part to watch over Dolci and the rest of the other ponies.
"It just makes me feel better once I go around and see that everything is okay." He gave a slight nod of his head. "I think it eases some of the other ponies minds as well."
Lifting his tail to swat at a few annoying bugs, he wished he'd could rid the world of bugs, especially the kind that bit and made your skin itch.
