EvilSilverDragon Gem felt her messages were recived, and trilled before soaring once in a large circle before going between to find Caleten.Caleten herself was a on her way to the weaver hall, or trying to find it and was quite happy to have her gold back on her shoulder. rimedragona There was the opening for the conversation that Remia wanted to make, even if it was a small one. "I'm glad you're alright, N'tren. And... about Caleten... I don't think she means to be so brusque. I think she doesn't stay anywhere for very long, and so it's become a habit to refuse attachments. She said she was going to leave to find the Weaverhall, and I got the impression she'd be gone a long time." Remia spoke what she had gleaned quietly, as she took off her shoes rolled up her pants in preparation for dragon-scrubbing. She hadn't been party to the message the gold had given N'tren, of course, so she didn't know that he'd gotten nearly the same message from Gem. The green rose out of the depths, bringing her dripping head into the open air. Perhaps your rider will change her mind, then. My rider thinks she is not as bad as she wants people to think she is. I do not really understand though. Why tell people that you are something you are not?" It seemed a foolish thing to do to Trith. Okaiuli was in bliss. It was warm, he was full, he was being made much of... as far as he was concerned, there was not a single thing wrong with the world. He chirped happily, and wound his head around to rub it gently along N'tren's hand. Amirynth It is my pleasure. Harmony is important to keep. Especially in a flight or all shall fail together. The dragon happily waded into the cool water and pushed himself off to dive down into the deeper areas. He would come back to the shallows when Kalya got there. The blue dragonrigder reached Remia and N'tren with a grin. "I thought to bring some drying cloths along with the oils as we are bound to get wet with these big monsters." She gazed out fondly towards her weyrmate. "There isn't as much for the dragons, but just enough for the flits. I had forgotten I used a lot of it on my watchweyrs the other day." She took a glance around and saw the Weyr's stockpile of oils and other things to take care of the dragons. "I believe more oils can be found over there if we need it." Turning to watch the flits swoop in and out of the water with the dragons, Kalya laughed, something that seemed to lift the tension that was ever present in the back of her mind. A blur of blue circled around her and settled on her shoulder before rubbing his cheek against her's and taking back off. Nicker, the bronze of the trio, scolded him as he came back towards the large bulk of the dragon to which the blue swooped up to a great hight and then almost divebommed the bronze. At the last moment the blue rolled out of the way and circled back up, obviously enjoying himself with his ariel acrobatics. "And that's why he got named Roller," Kalya mused quietly as her eyes shone, watching the two flit play. She reached up her hand to where Jadice still sat resting on her other shoulder and scratched lightly on the eye ridges. Naree (( scream at work!)) "Caleten is Caleten. That is all I can say... She has had many hurts in her life. She'll be back when she is ready I suppose."
Looking at Remia getting ready to clean Trith, he realized that he had no cleaning equipment for Datiath. Waving to the gold as she disappeared, he sighed. To have one of his own...perhaps a bronze like Datiath. Scratching Oki's headknobs, N'tren looked up as Kalya approached them.I do not know why our riders or others hide things. It makes no sense to me. I just say what I want... N'tren thinks that I say too much. Datiath stretched his head out of the lake and blew water at the flits. It was a game to watch them scatter."Thank you, Kalya. I sorta left real fast and forgot my cleaning supplies. And watching your two is most amusing. Oki, why don't you go play so I can clean? You can play with Datiath." Standing up, he loosened his grip on the blue so he could fly off.rimedragona Oki chirped, and rubbed his hand on N'tren's arm before spreading his wings and taking to the air. He spiraled up high, then dove in among the other blue's aerobatics, trying to start a game of tag. I think you say just enough. It is good to know what others are thinking. But my rider sometimes doesn't say things that she is thinking. Maybe it will make sense when we are grown and can fly. Trith shrugged her shoulders, making a ring of wavelets go out from around her. She paddled her way in towards the shore, so she would be closer when Remia came to bathe her. Remia nodded at N'tren's words, but followed Kalya's gaze to the supply cabinet. "You're right, of course, N'tren. But I can't help but get the feeling that she's been leaving so long that it has become something... something she has no control over. Instictual, you know?" she said as she gathered up the cleaning supplies she needed and headed towards her dragon. "I think we'll leave the oil you brought for the flits, then, right? And use this for our big ones. Sometimes it's a wonder the world doesn't run out of the oil needed. There's simply so much of them!" she exclaimed, but added a loving gaze in Trith's direction, along with a warm thought. And when I grow, there will be even more of me. Trith rumbled, her mental tone overlayed with amusement. Amirynth Just knowing how to fly won't be the opening of the mind but time will help with that. The blue chuckled before spraying his own blast of water at the flits. Most of them got away but a few were soaked, not that they already won't dripping wet from diving into the water. After a few smacks of his tail on the water Tarlith decided to come out to the shallows where Kalya was waiting for him. He was not one to dissagree with attention. "Well with enough attention she'll get here, that one will be drawn out of her shell she has built." Kalya knew enough about that remembering how she used to be before impressing her blue and finding a whole new world out there for her. Before it had just been a world of herbal remedies and learning the propper ways to take care of people. She still preferd the quiet solitude of herb gathering rather then being the center of attention, but this small group was nice. At least your not a stick in the mud Tarl moved his large head close to her so she could sratch at his nose. His whole world was Kalya and his eyes whirled a contented blue. The blue rider laughed and scratched her weyrmate before turning to the supplies she had braught. "Yes, Remia, your right, there is a lot of them but that just means there is more to love." Handing N'tren a smaller bucket and scrubbing brushes she set to work on her own draconic companion. Naree It is good to know what my rider is thinking before he does sometimes. That way he does not say anything silly. Datiath moved closer to the shore so N'tren would not have to wading for him. "I know that the two of you are right. It just seems that she has a bigger grudge against me because I am a boy. The one who rescued, or as she says, kidnapped her was a male rider. I wonder if he..."
The youth let his words trail off. "No. I don't think he would. Perhaps she is just dragon-shy now. The way Dattie keeps growing, eventually I am going to have to climb on him just to get to the hardest to reach spots."
Taking the bucket and brushes, N'tren moved deeper into the water and started on Datiath's leg. rimedragona Remia laughed, "Yes, you're right of course, Kalya. And I love every green inch of her, too. When she comes back, we'll have to be sure to give her a warm welcome. She'll come around eventually, N'tren." She moved out into the water, and began her scrubbing on Trith's neck. The young green stretched her neck out as far as it would go with a happy murmur. If there will be more of me, does that mean you will love me more? Trith asked her rider privately, turning an adoring eye down on the teenager. Remia beamed up at the wedge head, and sent back, Of course, love, I love you more with each day that comes. The pause to gaze at each other ended with Okaiuli streaking out of the sky to land on Trith's neck and begin his own scrubbing with his claws. "You're going to help, too, Oki? Maybe you can get a few of your friends up there to help us, too, hm?" Remia asked him. He paused for a moment, chirped questioningly, then resumed his work. "I guess not, then. That's okay. So, N'tren, how do you want to spend your day? After we've finished here, that is. We could... stay here by the pond... or perhaps go out to the hillside... or... well, it's up to you, really." she said, and shrugged with a laugh. Naree "I don't think my love for you will ever stop growing, Datiath!" He gave his bronze's forearm a hug. Soon he would not be able to do that; stepping back he continued to slough away the dry and dead skin.I love you. And I will not stop loving you. No matter what you say or what others think of you. You are mine. Datiath blew at his rider gently. N'tren looked up and over at Remia. Putting the brush down, he sighed. "I want to go see my family. But that is impossible since Datiath can't fly yet and I doubt he feels like walking through the forest. I am not sure... It's rare I have a whole day to myself. Too bad it's not Gather Day then there would be plenty to do. Maybe a trip to the inner coast? It's a little closer than my parents' hold." rimedragona Remia tilted her head to the side, thinking. It was too bad N'tren's parents were so far away... then again, much the same could be said for a lot of people here, including Remia herself. "But if it were a gather day, then there would be more people about than we'd know what to do with. This is more special, don't you think? Being allowed to do what you choose?" Remia asked with a small grin. Mine, what is the inner coast? Trith asked, having never been there before. Remia conjured up a faded image in her mind of the last time she'd been to the coast. Not being fond of swimming, there wasn't much reason for her to go. "It's like this pond, only much, much bigger and deeper... and there's sand in place of the pebbles here. And the water is salty. Oh, and waves! You'll like the waves, I think, dear one." Remia said, as she finished scrubbing Trith's flank and moved on to her tail, which Trith obligingly brought around closer with a playful splash of water. Remia shrieked in surprise, bringing her hands up to cover her face, and almost fell over. She was laughing though, and she leaned up against her green to catch her balance. "You...!" she exclaimed, and shook her head with a sigh. Trith brought her neck around to nose gently at her rider. Her eyes were whirling a fast blue, though she made apologetic motions. It sounds like fun. Will we go after we are bathed and oiled? Trith asked. "I don't know. N'tren, when did you want to go?" Remia passed on the question. naree Datiath rumbled in amusement at Trith's actions towards her rider. He felt good and clean and told N'tren so. Moving slowly out the water, the bronze weyrling settled on the lake banks and watched as Trith and Tarlith continued to get clean.
We can go after the sun has warmed us and we are oiled. Datiath spoke openly to the group. Laying his head in his foreclaws, the bronze merely waited.N'tren shrugged. "I guess we can do that. It will be nice to enjoy the sun though I am not too big on swimming. I can swim... All the kids in the hold could... But I don't like going in too deep." rimedragona Remia smiled at him. "At least I won't be the only one in the shallows, then," she said. She switched to Trith's other side, wondering how on earth N'tren had gotten the larger bronze clean faster than she had her green. Trith whuffed gently at her rider and informed Remia that she liked the extra attention. But it wasn't long at all before all of the green was clean, and she waddled out of the pond, scales gleaming wet in the sun. She made her way over to Datiath, and lay down near him, spreading her wings out slightly to catch more sun on them. "And aren't there other things at the beach than more swimming? I heard some of the other's talking about building holds and such from the sand, and finding things washed up on the shore. I can see where that would be fun, kind of like a treasure hunt. You never know what could be found!" Amirynth o O (I'm so sorry guys, I've been so busy I haven't had the energy to make a post >_< That and I completely forgot about checking the thread for a few days...) Kalya had been lost in thought when the splash of water hit not only Remia but her own taller frame. "Eeeep! Wow, that's cold!" Shaking herself she laughed, "Warn a girl when you attempt to give us a washing too Trith." Wringing out her bushy hair she twisted it around itself and then tucked it away at the base of her neck, using her customary two braids in the front to secure it. "There, at least my hair won't get out of control when it dries." She had almost finished cleaning Tarlith and was about ready to wade out. Well you are in the water, it was bound to happen, Tarlith swung his head around to peer at the smaller humans. Who knows what might happen, he added with a mischevious mental chuckle as his tail came round. "Look out!" Kalya called out just before she got a mouthful of water and went down, the large splashwave thretening everything in the vecinity. Kalya came back up spluttering and clinging onto Tarlith's tail. Glaring daggers at her weyrmate there was a pause as she caught her breath. "Shells I can't stay mad at you Tarl." Her glare turned into a chuckle. Naree "It's not that I cleaned Datiath faster, is is that he decided he was clean. And there could be shells or fire lizard eggs! Who knows what we could find." N'tren blurted out.
He watched Trith and Tarlith splashing at their riders. Suddenly, a splash of water caught him off guard and sent him under water. Bobbing up out of the water a little further down from the rest, he glared at Tarl and then looked at himself. Laughing, he made his way to the shore...very water logged.
"I suppose I could use the cleaning too."There is so much less of you to wash. You might wash your skin off. Be careful with my rider, Tarlith. He is much smaller than us! Datiath bugled to everyone near by. Amirynth o O ('nother quick post to catch up as I won't be able to reply until Sun eve if Im lucky) Tarlith managed to look contrite for a moment before wading out and joining Trith and Datiath in the sun. I was ready to help out if he went under He was in a mischiveous mood but was sure in letting the younger dragon know he meant no harm. Sopping wet and dripping from everywhere, Kalya waded out and looked down. "I propose at least grabbing a change of clothes unless you don't mind me letting them dry before we leave. It can get quite cold up there when flying." She remembered the others were going to be walking but still didn't relish a walk in drenched garments. "Or even walking for that matter." Quickly she took off the over shirt and tunic she had been wearing and then pondered whether to get a change from her weyr or just wait for everything to dry. The undershirt and her breeches should take too long to dry considering they were closer to the skin.

rimedragona "Oh, that's right! I wasn't thinking about that! Maybe we will find a clutch. Wouldn't that be something?" she asked, just before Kalya and N'tren both were drenched in another splash. She was glad she had missed getting hit by that. She was water-logged enough from her own dragon. You can get other clothes, mine. I don't mind sitting here in the sun for a while longer. Trith said publicly, as Remia's mind drifted along Kalya's suggestion. She shifted to allow Tarlith to join them, and closed the wings she had had outstretched. "That's not a bad idea. And I have a blanket in my room we can use to sit on the beach if we get tired. Dragon's might like hot sand, but I don't want to feel like I'm being pit-cooked," Remia laughed. Amirynth "Well then I'll be right back, I will take the oils back too as we probably don't want to lug them the whole way there and back." Picking up the dripping clothing she gathered everything back up in a basket and made her way over to the weyrs. She would only be gone a short moment but two of her flits decided they would come along too leaving the bronze to settle on N'tren's head. With a chirp he clawed his way down to a more comfortable spot on the boys shoulder and then promptly churped at him as if trying to hold a conversation about the weather. Nicker was happy to find someone who didn't shoe him away as soon as he settled down. Tarlith streached out his neck in the sun and, if he had the ability to purr like a feline, he probably would have. A contented snort came out of his nose as his eyes whirled a calm pale blue that almost looked crystaline against his deeper blue skin. She is more than welcome to take her time this sun feels nice against my wingsNaree "Sounds good to me! We can let our beasties dry up and I got a small jar of oil I can grab from my bunk. I am sure I can also con Cidrey into letting me have some meatrolls, fresh bread and other goodies for our lunch!"
N'tren was excited now! He was going to go to the inner coast and hang out with some good friends. Laughing as one of the flits settled for his shoulder and began to talk with him, N'tren gave a strong impression of friendship and happiness and food. "I think I am going to go change real fast, Remia. Meet back here in half a candle mark or so? Tarlith can you let Kayla know when to meet back here?"Datiath nodded at Tarlith as rumbled happily. I wish the sun was always around! rimedragona Trith's only reply to the other two dragons was a contented rumble as she half dozed in the sun, Okaiuli curled up on her head. He made his own contented chirp. Remia smiled at the excitement of the other two, feeling her own grow. This woud be a new experience! She ran quickly to her room, changing out of her clothes and into something dry. She gathered up the blanket, and then tilted her head thoughtfully. Was there anything else? She couldn't think of anything. She scooted back down to the werybowl, looking around to see if she'd beaten the others back, or if they were waiting on her. Amirynth Tarlith was partially dozing when Kalya came down. it had taken her longer as she had a weyr that was higher up as her dragon could fly. It was all well and good except her dragon was taking a nap so she had to go up the stairs. Panting a little she was lugging what looked like a heavy sack with two straps wrapped over each shoulder. It had many pockets and each seemed to be bulging with something. "I figured I'd bring my herb-pack with us. Not just for herbs," She added quickly, "I went around the back way and snagged some food to take with us." Grinning at little at her forethought she showed them the few meat rolls and other goodies that were good cold or hot. "Figured we might get a little hungry while we're out there." Naree N'tren showed his pack to the others as he raced up. Grinning at the both of them, he had already began to forget the unpleasantness of earlier in the day. He had some small jars and food as well. There was also a small jar of numbweed.
"In case we get sun burned," he pointed out. "Looks like we are ready. I am sorry to make you walk Kayla. But soon all three of us will be flying."Let's hurry up and go, Datiath grumbled as he stood up slowly. rimedragona Trith sighed, loathe to leave the comfortable sun. But she got up, flipping her wings all the way closed as she did so, and then made a pleased noise. If we are quick, we will soon be sunning on the sand, she told Datiath. Remia smiled at N'tren. "What a great idea! I knew I was forgetting about something up there." She slung a small bag to her shoulder and draped the blanket over her arm. "Is everyone set? Let's go!" she cried happily, an arm swung over her head in a 'move forward' gesture. She fell into step once everyone else began to move. Amirynth "I don't mind the walk, it's be good to get some excersize." Slinging her bag upon her back the bluerider gaver her dragon an affectionate thump to wake him up. I am awake you know... came the planative reply. Streaching out his wings Tarlith rose and moved over to where Datiath and Trith stood waiting. Could have fooled me. Kalya grinned towards her weyrmate as she ran up to join the other two. She hadn't been to the beaches in quite a while, she spent most of her time in-land where the herbs could be found. Kalya was curious to see how much the area had changed, knowing the beaches where suceptable to the whims of the tides. Naree N'tren began walking with Datiath trodding behind him. It was near midday now and with the way everyone was walking, they could reach the inner shore by early afternoon. It was a good thing that he was an early riser. He grinned at the praise given to him by Remia and nodded at Kalya.
"I enjoy walking... It gives you a chance to see details that you wouldnt be able to see on dragon back."Datiath kept his pace with Tarlith and Trith. He was taking his time and investigating different items on the pathway and checking the forest. His curiousity had grown just like he had...
How curious that some plants are spikey and some are smooth. I wonder why that it? rimedragona Remia nodded her agreement with N'tren. "I like to hear birdsong and hear the rustle of leaves. The one time I was a dragonback, all I could hear was the wind rushing past my ears," she said, as she was off on the side of the path picking a few wildflowers with which to decorate her hair. Trith looked at the flowers her rider had, and asked, Why do you put them in your hair, mine?"Because they look and smell nice, dear one," Remia said, and held a flower out to Trith, who obligingly sniffed it, then made a pleased noise. It smells good, she said.
Remia smiled, then her eyes lit up. "I know!" she said, "I'll make a wreath for you. I think I'll make it from grasses... and put a few flowers in it. I can make it as we walk."She stopped by the side of the path momentarily, plucking several of the tall grasses and holding them in one hand while she wove them together in to a simple braid. Trith watched with interest over her rider's shoulder. Amirynth It was nice to walk for once instead of watch everything from higher up. Kalya wandered behind her eye catching the plants and herbs that surrounded them. A large leafy plant struck her attention and the blue rider stopped for a moment and gently pulled off a few leaves. Burdock, that would come in handy later. Carefully rolling them up she pulled on one of her many pouches in her backpack and placed them safely inside. Remia's braiding had caught Tarl's attention and he watched as she skillfully made a long chain. Poking his head at Kalya he made a dragonic snort. You can make wreath? he added with a planative voice. Chuckling Kalya followed suit and pulled out a few long grasses. Trotting a little faster over to Remia she grinned "It seems Tarlith doesn't want to be left out, Can you show mw how you weave those into something so long?" Turning back towards N'tren she added with a laugh, "And I suppose Datiath might want one too? Or should I make one for you, N'tren?" rimedragona Remia nodded, and held up what she was doing so Kalya and N'tren could see. "It's just a simple braid, but you have to add in the next peice of grass before the first one ends. A couple of twists and it's held in tight. See? It's what we do when we're weaving and a thread breaks or we run out and have to start a new skein," she said, and demonstrated with the piece of grass that was currently running out. It looked a bit tricky to do without a table to set it on, but she used the flat of her stomach as something to brace the ends against. "And then I'm just going to poke a few flowers in between... I wonder what color I should use?" she asked, and paused to look around. Trith piped up, saying, I like those purple ones, they smell good."The ones with the yellow things inside? Okay, then, the purple ones it is!" Remia laughed with a doting look on the half-grown green. Naree ((had a brain fart...)) Datiath looked at Trith and Tarlith getting wreaths and he crooned pleadingly with N'tren. Butting his rider's side, he said most plainly. I want a wreath with blue flowers.Laughing, N'tren watched at Remia made the wreath. It looked simple enough, like the ones his sisters would make. Catching Kayla's question, he shook his head. "Oh no. I think I can handle it. And Poor Dattie is feeling left out."
Looking around, N'tren noticed some blue and green flowers growing off to the side on some vines. Stopping and heading off the path a little, he waved to the others. "This should only take a moment."rimedragona (( Sorry! I've not checked any of my guilds in forever, I feel so guilty. If either of you still want to play this, I do, too! )) Remia laughed at Datiath's pleading, and waved N'tren off to the flower patch. "Not a problem at all! If he wants flowers, then flowers he shall have!" She grabbed a few of the purple flowers, and tucked them inside the braid of grasses, then inspected her work before holding it up to her green. It looks pretty, and it smells very good. Trith proclaimed, and lowered her head with a pleased rumble so Remia could slip it on her. "Lovely!" was the rider's exclamation, "You, Datiath and Tarlith will be the talk of the Weyr! We'll start a new fashion, don't you think?" she asked, looking around at the dragons and riders assembled.

The Day After N'tren's Birthday
Yesterday was a terrific day! I was fifteen turns and still have to look up to nearly everyone else in the barrecks. But I got up and met Kayla, Tarlith's rider. She knew a lot about herbs and plants. Hopefully we can talk together more. And then Remia showed up and finally Caleten was there.
I was surrounded by three girls!
Not that that means anything. Just something to brag about maybe later to the other guys. Everything was going well until Caleten hurt my feelings. She does that a lot but I still like her and hope that she takes care of herself. Datiath likes her too and talks to her.
I wonder if other people's dragons talk to other people? Hmm... Guess I have to ask.
Then we went to the lake to wash the dragons and they tried to wash us. Kayla is really nice and Tarlith is a handsome looking blue. Not that I would ever trade! I was lucky to even Impress Datiath. I mean, a bronze, wow! I still have to send word to my family sometime.
After cleaning, we went to the Inner Coast and relaxed. I hunted for flit eggs but didn't find a single nest. Datiath, Trith, and Tarlith had wreaths over their heads. I liked it and it nice to spend time with friends. Hopefully I can have another day like that before Threadfall.
Not that I am old enough to fly. But still...
Write more when I can.

Random Entry-Before Turn's End
Its been real busy! More studying and training... I think my arms have finally stopped being so swollen from passing firestone bags. Who knew they could be so heavy? My duties as a dragon rider have kept me from the kitchen... I think I heard one or two complaints about me not being back in there.
Maybe I can ask Farin to let me off for an evening to do a roast or something.
I moved from the weyrling rooms to my own weyr! My own weyr! Datiath and I are official for the most part. I can't be part of the fighting wing yet. Too young. I might have wrote that already. Oh well, I ramble until its all gone.
Speaking of gone, Caleten is gone and I haven't seen any of the older riders around lately. I wonder what you do when you get older besides wait for Thread to fall.
Who knows? Back to finishing up my weyr!

The Second Turn Ending...
So I didn't have to be stuck in the kitchens for this Gather! That was nice. I slept until I felt like going down to the bowl. So many people all over the place. All the booths and the food and the music and just... So much to take in when you get the chance to explore. Anyways, I ran into Caleten and Gem.
I was surprised that they had been there. Something about the way they acted made me think they wouldn't be around for a long while. So I took them up to the ledges to get away from the crowds. Datiath had a good time with the two of them. It's very strange but he really likes talking to Caleten. He doesn't talk to other riders too much... Except for Remia and Kayla sometimes.
I wonder how they are doing. I didn't see them at the Gather. But tomorow Dattie and I are meeting Caleten down at the cove. Maybe I will finally get a fire lizard! Not that the little creature could ever replace my Datiath. But he can't sleep curled up with me any more.

The Day After; A Day At the Cove by Naree and EvilSilverDragon N'tren woke up to the changing of the watch dragons. He was pretty good about waking up when he wanted to but sometimes he could sleep through the drama of other weyrs. His green eyes came into focus as he sat up and looked around. Datiath was not inside so he must be outside sunning himself.Do not forget. We agreed to meet the girl by the big rocks for cleaning and oiling.N'tren smacked his forehead. Tossing the fur off to the side, he practically jumped up and tripped over his boots. Grinning at himself, he remembered that after staying up late talking to Caleten, he stumbled into bed and passed out.
Which explained why he was still in his gather clothes.
Stripping quickly and with no shame (having been brought up in a small hold but large family), N'tren tossed on his normal open vest and leather pants. No shoes today as he would be in the warm waters of the inner coast. Grabbing a bucket that contained several scrub brushes, oils and other dragon cleaning materials, the young bronze rider went out to the ledge.
Ready when you are... Is she there yet? She will hold it over us if we are late. The sun is still rising and we will be there in time. Flying straight has made me strong.Scrambling more than climbing, N'tren mounted his beastie and they took off for the Inner Coast. EvilSilverDragon Caleten awoke before the sun, a normal habit of hers. She took advantage of the early wake up by a nice long bath. With a hungry golden firelizard used to eating before the sun fully peaks over the horizon, her bath and packing preparations were cut short. Gem chirped at her insistently as she gathered what she could find in the weyr to take with her.
She dressed in a sandy colored long wool dress that, like every one she wore, covered her whole body from just under her chin to her toes. It was wide enough below her waist that she could still ride a heardbeast if she needed to. With a heavy pack, she went to the kitchen to feed Gem. With the help of the drudges, that task was done relatively quickly.
She let Gem go ahead so she could find a nice spot on the beach, it also gave her time to pack up the heardbeast she took with her and set off. By the time she made it to the meeting spot, the sun was peaking up, dancing acrossed the water. Looking around, her hazel eyes searched for the bronze dragon and his rider. Datiath spotted them first. Bugling loudly, he flew low with confident sweeps of his large wings. Eyes whirled happily as he sent a hello to Gem and the small gather of wild fire lizards that had suddenly appeared.
Hello little cousins!Whooping wildly, N'tren waited until Datiath was just above the water before he jumped off his bronze's back and into the warm coastal waters. It was a stunt he had pulled many times much to the chargrin of some of his other friends. But he had learned by now where the deeper waters were... Living by the coast had made a strong swimmer out of him.
Bobbing up out of the water, he waved to the person he was sure was Caleten. "Morning!"EvilSilverDragon Gem flew off to fly with her wild kin; she trilled her greetings to them and to Datiath. She really was delighted to spend time with some of her own kind and played little games with them. Also, she showed off her acrobatic skills in the air.The loud bugle was her clue they had arrived and she quickly looked to the sound. Her eyes followed the bronze, then N'tren's plunge into the water. It had been many turns she had actually swam in anything bigger then a lake, but at one time she was strong enough to swim in most currents. However, the ocean she hadn't seen since leaving South Hold all those years again and she was in no hurry to go back.
Giving N'tren a slight wave, she just waited for him to come ashore. Shifting her feet slightly, she could feel the sand shift from underneath of her through her shoes. He dragged himself to shore and looked her over. Giving her a funny look, he waited for Datiath to come to shore. Then he would be able to get his bucket of supplies.
"Won't you get all hot and soggy in that thing?" N'tren blurted out. She had to be nearly covered from head to foot in what he assumed was a dress. He had come to clean, N'tren was not sure what she had come for...
"I mean, we are scrubbing down a hulk of dragon in the water. There is only so much you can do from there unless you just wanna watch?"Meanwhile, said hulk of dragon sent calming thoughts to Gem and the other wild flits. One queen was clearly trying to impress on him to be careful where he stepped. She had a clutch nearby.
Good day. It is good to see you again. Datiath rumbled happily. The dark gold warns us of her eggs.EvilSilverDragon Caleten crossed her arms and looked away to Datiath, a slight scowl on her proud features. Looking back to N'tren she says, "I am used to wearing this, the heat won't bother me. I'll be fine. I am more capable then you give me credit for." It had been turns since any part of her body was shown to anyone, and it would be turns more she was sure.Gem talked back to the queen and other flits, knowing her friend’s friend was interested. Caleten had wanted it enough to impress the mission upon the little queen. After avoiding getting into a fight, she flew to Caleten and nuzzled her cheek. It sometimes made her nervous to be around other golds, wild even more so, she had heard tails of horrible fights when one queen is ready to fly, thankfully that has yet to happen for Gem. Not sure she wanted to be nice, she finally said, "There is a chance the eggs might be ready to hatch, keep food on you, N'tren. If you feed it the moment it hatches, then you'll Impress it." He may have known that, but it never hurts to explain the important things. Besides, after his comments earlier, she had no trouble stating what she saw as a bit of common knowledge.
She couldn’t help but wonder about the impression of dragons, what made them so different from their kin. Her best guess was that their minds were bigger and required more the just food. N'tren shrugged at Caleten's protests. He knew by now better than to argue with her. Perking up at the mention of flit eggs not only by Datiath but by his companion as well, he walked over towards his bronze and scrambled up to get his supplies.
"If you say so. I just don't know if you have ever been in those clothes in the ocean. We will definately stay in the shallow areas... Datiath will make sure nothing happens to either of us. Luckily there haven't been any feline spottings lately."
Looking down, he motioned for Datiath to move closer to the large rocks which jutted up from the sands like broken teeth. Managing to stay steady, he tossed the bucket and a small bundle down to the ground. "I don't have fresh meat. Meatrolls and some fruit. Will that work? Or should I ask Datiath to try to catch a fish?"Fish? Was Datiath's reply.EvilSilverDragon Now, he was annoying her, doubting what she could do, short of telling him she never wore anything else, she was ready to prove him wrong. "I have swam in an outfit similar to this. I grew up in a Hold right near the water, being an excellent swimmer comes with the territory." She raising her chin a bit, in proud composure, she tried to ignore the fact that she had given away a little bit about her past. At least, she caught herself before she gave the name of the hold.
Walking over to the rocks, she hardly noted her dress darkening a bit as water hit it. "Fish would be the wisest choice, and if you plan on getting a gold or bronze, you'll need at least two fish, they are more ravenous then the smaller flits." She looked around for something they could use as netting, after all, the fish need to kept somewhere of the paws of their flock. N'tren sensed that he was stumbling his way to the wrong end of the conversation. Rather than press the subject, the young rider opted for neutral ground and merely nodded.
"My father's hold is a small hold to the south and west of here. Well, sort of ... Anyways, there was a swimming hole and a river but nothing this big. I'm not sure which I prefer but I know that ocean waters are warmer."Datiath had gotten into prime cleaning position and was making noises at the wild fire lizards to help scrub his hide. Several of the golds and bronzes there chirped inquiringly at him but did not get close to the humans. The blues and greens, being more simple and not so cautious, were getting within inches of the rider and his friend. Be careful with your claws!
Turning to N'tren, the bronze continued. I can ask the little ones to gather fish. I am not sure my claws can catch something so small."Sounds like a plan. What do you think?" N'tren did not realize that Datiath had not included her in the last bit of the conversation.EvilSilverDragon Caleten did not peruse a fight and nodded back to what he was saying, trying to think of geography, if he was part of the South Hold, she was out of there fast! However, she did spare a moment to think of what her family might do if she showed up after all those turns with a Bronze rider who happened to be a holder's son as her friend. She'd fake a relationship just to see their expressions!
However, she restrained any show of emotion and did not ask about the hold or near locations. Instead, she watched the flits as she put one hand out to touch Dataith's side. In a tone that didn't have all the pride she used with every person she met, she told them, "I mean you no harm." Wild flits were always a sight to see and she did like there company.Gem trilled out to them, instructing them on how to approach the humans, hissing in a threatening manner as a green came far to close to what she saw as threatening Caleten. Though with Daitath's warning, there was little need for her to be on her guard. Otherwise, she was nice enough and also informed them that the humans were nice.Caleten looked back to N'tren as she got the feeling she was getting the trail end of a discussion. What an odd switch, before she was angry about the dragon going into her mind, now she was annoyed he hadn't. "I think I would like to know about what plan I am giving my opinion on before I give it." Her eyes were on N'tren, and her expression was nothing less then the normal cool proud look. Must I ask every time to talk to you? Datiath asked in what could be considered a meek voice. He looked down at her and then to the wild fire lizards. I merely said that my claws might be too large to catch fish. Perhaps I should ask the little ones too.N'tren blushed as well. "I am sorry, I didn't realize he had not spoken to you. I am used to him speaking openly in your presence. Sorry."
Using the brush he had kept for himself, N'tren went to work on the back ridges around the bronze's neck and shoulder joints. That was one of the worst places for dry skin and as he scrubbed, flakes of dried dragon skin fell to the ground.
"You know, you are the only person he talks to a lot. Even with the other riders, he tends to bespeak to their dragon and not them."EvilSilverDragon Caleten looked to Dataith, and moved so she could scratch his eyeridge, 'No, you don't, and I know I shouldn't have been as harsh on you for when you did it before. I was just startled, though when we met again after parting, a little warning before you come in to my mind would be very appreciated.' When she finished 'speaking' to Dataith, she was listening to the plan she missed and hearing N'tren the moment later.
She almost wanted to smile, with the reputations Bronze riders and their dragons get, and the way most holds viewed them, it was a bit comical. However, keeping her expression as it was, she shook her head and told them both, "The plan is a good one, I am not sure how well the firelizards will listen, but its worth a try. It is alright, N'tren, I got the information in the end." Watching what he did for a bit, and remembering what seemed the worst on Gem, she picked through the tools N'tren brought. A lot were ones she was unfamiliar with, but she picked a good stiff brush, a rag soaked in oil.
Setting to work, she went right to scrubbing and seeing to the oiling of Dataith's head and neck area. Gem loved to be pampered, so she was treating Dataith the same way, taking care to make sure the area was oiled properly, but also giving lots of scratches and attention to the areas she knew Gem liked. Every once in a while, she'd look up to the dragon's back, still wondering what it was like.
What N'tren said grabbed her attention just then. She took a moment to come up with an explanation and finally offered, "Perhaps it has something to do with the fact that I do not have a dragon of my own. If he tried to give Gem messages, there is no telling what I would get." After all, it really couldn't mean that Dataith liked her. Well Gem likes him, but then her flit was friendly, so seemed Dataith. The bronze's eyes picked up in speed with Caleten said many nice things to him. He crooned softly at the scratching of his eyeridges. I am sorry. I shall let you know how?Meanwhile, N'tren was slowly working his way down Datiath's back. That was what the stiff brush was for... Taking his time so he wouldn't miss a single spot, the teen looked for flaky patches. His arms were starting to get a little tired but all the effort would be worth it in the end. It was slow going but worth it.
"Hopefully between Gem and Datiath we can get the point across. Fish it will be or at least, cold meatrolls."
The wild fire lizards had taken up the challenge of cleaning the lengthy bronze. Their fierce talons scrubbed hard at the skin while other drops piles of sand on his back. At the rate everyone was going, Datiath would soon be clean.
Abruptly, the golds and bronzes fly off towards a crevice in the large rocks. Eyes whirling fast, they began to hum in unison.
"HUMMING!" N'tren looked over at Caleten. "Do you think?" He hopped down off of Datiath's back using his back leg and scrambled for his pack.EvilSilverDragon Caleten thought about it and looked to her little Gem, who had joined the others and helping to clean Dataith. 'How about telling Gem, she'll warn me then I won't be surprised." She herself was working her way down Dataith as well. Careful as she was, she was not used to cleaning such a big creature, but Gem was right there to get the parts she missed or alerts her other ways.Gem understood how irksome itchy spots were, and was good about spotting them and trilling at Caleten. She sent images of the times it bothered her and that was enough to get her friend to re look over what she was doing. This was hard work, she decided; even for her strength from what she had to deal with on her own, such as climbing cliffs, this was a lot. She did not complain, just kept working. The activities of the golds and bronzes almost went unnoticed, but Gem's behavior did not. She knew by instinct what was going on and joined the others in humming.
Caleten looked then told N'tren, "I think you had better hurry, they are tenaciously hungry when they hatch and will fly for food if you don't get there soon enough.
In her case, she had Gem with her, having taken her egg off the hands of someone else. However, she had seen hatchings before and listened to tales from other who had flits. Datiath merely dipped his head in acknowledgement to what Caleten had said to him. He looked over to the group of small humming golds and bronzes; by now, even the lesser colored flits had stopped scrubbing and went to join in the welcoming song.
Hurry beloved.Moving quickly, one had full of meatroll and the other gripping the slick rocks, N'tren scrambled. There was a semi-circled of bronzes and one queen in particular, a large golden beauty, trilling must faster as the eggs started to crack and hatch.
Jumping down, the teen slipped and cut his knee open. It bled as he rushed to reach the eggs in time. Bright green eyes alighted on a large egg close to him that was rocking violently.
"I think, I hope I can do this." He said outloud, not only to Caleten but to himself as well.

EvilSilverDragon "Just don't let it fly off and feed it fast, you'll do fine." Shaking her head, she grumbled about males. She could see he hurt himself; sand in the wound could in capacitate him with infection. Although she was not a healer, she had to learn from one in order to survive.
Walking over to the pack N'tren brought, she went hunting for clean rags before deciding to use her own. She had a good supply of fresh water and salves she 'borrowed' from the weyr. Still talking lowly about how clumsy males are, she went to getting things together for N'tren to treat his knee.
Not once did she look to the hatching, why bother when she knew he would get a flit of his own. Gem was over there to help him so her help was no needed. Datiath watched Caleten really slowly. He blinked and moved his head when she did; it really would be unnerving to some. Her emotions were very loud in her mind and although it was common-it was not a well known fact that dragons could pick up these emotions with those they considered themselves or their riders close to...
If he upsets you so, why have you stayed? Why did you agree to meet us?The large egg was now wobbling and a crack had appeared down the middle of the toughened shell. N'tren wanted to help them all but knew that it would not be possible. He was inexplicablely drawn to the larger egg. Some part of him was quaking in fear but he still managed to shred on of the rolls in anticipation.
There was a loud cracking sound and a mottled bronze tumbled out and into the sands. It keeled in hunger, eyes tinged red with anger at the world and wanting to feed. Moving into position, the young rider held his hand out in front. "Here you go, eat." N'tren whispered.
The little flit screamed and devoured the piece. Screaming again, it demanded to be fed even as its clutchmates were being dropped fish. Nodding, N'tren began to shove piece after piece into its mouth.EvilSilverDragon Caleten stiffened and turned to look at Datiath. Was she that obvious? She told him, though, 'All males upset me, human ones anyway.' She did amend herself, for even though Datiath had made her mad in the past by coming into her mind when she did not want it, he was not bad company and she did not blame him for the ills the human males brought. 'N'tren just is not as bad as most.' She was not as afraid of him as she was most, would have been more correct, but she was already unsure about how much would get back to N'tren so she was not going to think it to the dragon.
All the while, she got the stuff to help the clumsy male and headed over to N'tren. She could see he was feeding a flit, which meant he had gotten what he wanted, to impress a flit. The red of hunger and the violence of birth had faded to a lazy blue. The little one's eyes slowly closed as it fell into an induced slumber of food and released energy. Slowly, he stopped taking food and a with one step into N'tren's waiting hands.
"Mine. This little Splotch of a fire lizard is mine now. Ours," the teen whispered as he relived his Impression with Datiath. Carefully cradling the little bronze, N'tren moved slowly back to his waiting freinds.
"His name is Splotch. What do you think?" And he moved so that the little one could be admired.EvilSilverDragon Caleten examined the little bronze as if she knew exactly what she was looking for. "He is a handsome bronze; you'll have your hands full. I do hope you don't mind waking early." She said the last part more as statement of fact. With Gem, she learned quickly that when flits are very young, they are like babies; feed me when ever they want to be fed
"How is your knee?" She asked, thinking its just like a male to be more focused on anything but their own health. My rider is very nice. I will not tell him any of your secrets. Datiath looked down at his new little 'brother'. His eyes whirled with curiosity and amusement as N'tren's face shone with love for his two partners. He is so small. "I am used to getting up early for classes and taking care of Datiath. I will just make a sling or something to carry him around in and keep him safe."
While holding the fire lizard in one hand, he carefully removed his vest and put it on the beach. Then he put the bronze in the middle and made a nest of the sand and the vest.
"I still have to finish cleaning Datiath." N'tren spoke softly. It was then that his knee decided that enough was enough. A sharp pain jabbed him and shot up his leg. "Shards! I didn't even feel it until you said something Caleten." Looking down, the blood no longer was flowing and bits of sands stuck to the trail going down his leg. "I better go wash this off..."EvilSilverDragon 'I'd loose all respect for the both of you if you did.' She put it harshly, still trying to get rid of the almost unbearable spike of fear that ran through her when he even talked about knowing her secrets. What happened to her, what changed her, no one deserved to know about it unless she wanted to tell them. It was far too much of a violation to think that Dataith might know, so she did not think about it further, trying the same logic a child uses when they pull a cover over their heads thinking so long as they did not see something, it couldn't hurt them.
"He will grow to be close to Gem's size in due time." Gem was a tiny little thing in her hands at one point. Speaking of the flit, she looked for her.Gem was looking at the baby bronze curious since it was getting all the attention apparently. With a firm call from Caleten, she stopped her from possibly disturbing the newcomer, and brought her to her friend's shoulders.Resisting the urge to sigh or laugh, males, once again they prove to be one track thinkers. However, instead of saying anything of the sort, she held out the canteen and cloth, "Here." She did shake her head a bit; at least his behavior was amusing. You have let nothing be known that you did not wish. Datiath sniffed at Caleten and turned away from her. I am your friend Caleten. I do not always speak to my rider. It was the first time that he had said her name or any other person's name besides his rider's... Something that, again, was only a bronze or a gold's trait."I can only imagine. Some of the other riders have flits as well. All shades and sizes... I hope that Farin let's me bring him to class since he is so young." N'tren smiled at her and then his bronze.
Reaching out for the water and cloth, he dribbled some on his cut and began to wipe away the blood and sand. If he didn't hurry, the biting bugs would bury into the wound. And that would not be a good thing. "Thank you, Caleten."EvilSilverDragon Caleten sighed a bit, great now she felt bad about how she responded to Dataith. Geeze, had it been that long since she was a decent human being? It had to be; lightly she reached out to touch the bronze's side. 'I am sorry, Dataith. I did not mean to be so harsh sounding, it is just the thought of everything about what happened to me known. It may get to the point I might shair, unlikely, but it will be my choice. I do trust you, just...hearing my greatest fear, well triggered an overreaction.' It was interesting, she never had to explain herself, and she was used to lying or sneaking her way out of all problems.
One of the reasons she avoids people, a lot less trouble! "Your welcome, N'tren" For her sanity, leaving soon. When she was alone, or in a situation she had some control over, she knew who she was. However, this was a lot different. It is hard to hide from someone that appears to accept you for it as it is.
Running a hand through her hair, she just went back to cleaning Dataith, finding it easier to just go back to being a bit aloof. The bronze placed his head back down into his large claws. His eye ridges were almost completely closed as the heat of the morning began to soak into his hide. Without making a move, he spoke softly to Caleten. You are always my friend.N'tren had no idea that Caleten and Datiath had been conversing this whole time. His mind was on his new friend and having to get back to cleaning his much bigger bronze. With his leg cleaned, the young rider took his scrub brush and walked back to Datiath. Moving into the water, he started to clean and tried to talk at the same time.
"So after this, you are leaving huh? Do you ever plan where you go or do you just go?"EvilSilverDragon Caleten patted at Dalaith's side, responding back 'Good I am gald for it.' She did her best for years never to be around long enough for anyone to get attached, she failed this time, meant leaving might be harder and staying away might as well.
She continued to clean, using the rocks to help her get to the dragon's back.
"I plan a little, more like I know where not to go. After the turns, I know where there is no water or trade routes but otherwise, I just go where I want to." She had freedom, but gave up security and supposedly friends. The bronze was getting sleepy from the sun and soon began to doze. His eyes completely closed as his great bulk rose and fell steadily. His skin looked like a bright copper-bronze and was truly a wonderful sight to see."Once Datiath and I pass our final test for flying between, I guess we will go where ever we want to as well. I mean, Thread doesn't fall all the time and it would be nice to go north and see some of the Gathers there... Or even snow! One of the other riders from up north was telling me about it..."
N'tren rambled as he cleaned and oiled. He worked hard to get all of his great beastie oiled and the dry patches cleared up. His eyes darted back to Splotch every so often but the hatchling was in as deep sleep as the great bronze was... "What a pair these two make... If you want, once Datiath wakes up from his nap we can fly you back to the weyr or drop you off someplace. Or we can walk back if you don't want to fly."EvilSilverDragon Caleten thought about what he was saying as she oiled the massive bronze. North, there was somewhere she had not gone. A new place, so far from South hold, sounded like just the place she should go. Perhaps she could get her self on a boat and take off to there, then she would never be able to come back, or found likely enough.
It deserved further thought, though most of her did not want to go. Shells and shards! Why did she not want to leave? While she was thinking, she missed part of what N'tren said, but heard the invitation loud and clear. She was very glad she was on one side of Dataith with N'tren on the other. Her expression was not proud, or cool, she actually was excited and glad for the invitation. Happy was not something any person saw from her, it wouldn't be there if she thought he had seen.
Composer back, she thought logically, she could take the delay of having to come back for her runnerbeast. "I don't mind flying; actually I have never been before, not counting the kidnapping. A ride back to the weyr would be nice." Little butterflies filled her stomach, she remembered being kidnapped, and how angry she had been about it. Also, she remembered seeing Gem, her little gold got so much joy from flying and she always wanted to know what it would be like. The chance would not be passed up, not even for her pride. N'tren smiled at Caleten as he finished up the last of the cleaning. He inspected Datiath's claws to make sure there was no damage. It was a slow task but a steady one that brought joy to his heart.
"That sounds good to me. Of course, if you want us to fly you further we can... Datiath should be waking soon and then we can be on our way."
The little bronze looked up sleepily with his eyes tinged with hunger. Chirping anxiously, it tried to sit up and look for something, someone familiar. N'tren smiled and set the huge claw down. Going to his pack, he grabbed another meatroll.
"How often will they eat?"EvilSilverDragon Caleten did not respond about being taken further, and more so and she would waste a whole day just getting her runnerbeast back. Her attention was looking over Dataith. She was amazed at his bulk, color and just him. Upon hearing the little bronze chirping she turned to walk over.
Although she wanted to smile, she held back and just told him, "A better question would be how often do they not eat. As a baby, they eat and sleep and thats about it. However, once he grows a bit, it will even out." Looking to Gem on her shoulder, the gold tilting her head to the side at her before nuzzling, she resisted smiling at the gold and only scratched her eye ridge.

N'tren fed the little bronze who ate like he had not just eaten hours before and then promptly fell back asleep. He kneeled there for a moment or two admiring the little fellow before turning to Caleten. "What a pair these two will make, huh?"Datiath slowly opened one eye and replied to them both. What a pair we make, my rider. Some day we shall fly together and be more together than now.A lump got caught in N'tren's throat as he blushed and looked away. "We can head back to the weyr whenever you are ready Caleten. If you need any extra stuff I can help you if you want... I know most of the people in the lower caverns."EvilSilverDragon Caleten nodded a little, watching the flit eat and go back to sleep. Just like Gem was not too long ago. Upon hearing Dataith, she also looked up to the sky.
She did not entirely get his reaction, the blush and looking away. Rather then ask she just told him, "I am ready to leave now. More supplies would be great, a bit of food, cloth and oil can always come in handy." With his help she might learn where things were for future use. "Sounds good to me. Let me gather all the stuff up." N'tren gathered the rags and brushes together and dropped everything into the bucket. Splotch had opened one eye and was watching very carefully. Everything gathered, the young bronze rider untangled his flit from his vest. Putting the vest back on, he tucked Splotch underneath.
"Just climb on up using his foreleg. Do you want to sit in front or back? Basically, do you want me to hold onto you or you to hold onto me??" N'tren understood Caleten's dislike of touching and being close, or so he thought. It seemed like a good idea to give her options. You will like flying. Datiath told Caleten.EvilSilverDragon Caleten watched him a moment then turned back to the dragon, lightly petting Gem whom was on her shoulder. Flying sounded like much more fun since it would be her choice this time.
She heard his instruction and had just started to climb on when he gave her the options. Hesitating a moment, she was unsure if she wanted to do this anymore. Upon hearing Datiath she nodded and finally told N'tren, "I'll sit in back." Though, she could not help but wonder if there was a third option. At least, it would be a bit more comfortable if she was the one choosing just how close she needed to be to him, not the other way around. This would be the first time she has held on to another human in turns.
Trying to clear her mind of it, she worked on climbing on to Dataith using his foreleg like N'tren had said. Nodding slowly, N'tren waited for Caleten to mount and get settled. Though it was actually better for him to get on first, the youth was finally understanding the person before him who he tentively called friend.
With Splotch settled close to his chest, N'tren climbed up Datiath with one hand. It was slow going but he got up to the first neck ridge and settled himself.
"Ready?" He called back to her. It was better to just take off really than to build up the anticipation and shake up your passenger's nerves. At least, that is what some of the older riders had mentioned. He really wasn't sure.
Get ready, Datiath. N'tren told his lifemate.I am ready. The bronze said this to both humans.EvilSilverDragon Caleten watched him mount Dataith as well, taking note of how he did it. She was in awe over the bronze; she had never sat on a dragon before and just couldn't believe it. The feel of his sink and back, the close up on the wings and just the height from the ground, this was wonderful.
Being asked if she was ready, Cale didn't know what to say. She knew she'd have to hold on to N'tren but didn't know where or how. Having not had much touching contact with people in so long, it was no wonder why she was a bit confused. Sitting right near N'tren, she was truly unsure what to do.
She tired to tell him, "I am ready." Maybe she wasn't completely because she wasn't sure how to hold on to him, but she still tried to pull it off.Gem came and settled down on Caleten's shoulder. This is a first for her, but she was a smart gold and took her observations into actions. That when indoubt, go to Caleten. Hearing the 'ready' part, N'tren patted Datiath on the neck. He tightened his grip on one of the neck ridges and looked back at Caleten. Giving a trademark quick smile, N'tren spoke loudly.
"Just find a spot to grab on. My waist, my shoulders...whatever. Don't want you falling off, not that you will or anything. I haven't gotten enough marks for a large saddle yet. And 'sides, with Dattie still growing I need to wait."
Long speech, all said in one breath, and with one good leap and upbeat of wings, they were off. Datiath beat his wings steadily to get them some height about the cove. Are you okay? He asked Caleten softly.EvilSilverDragon Caleten was still unsure about holding on to N'tren until Datiath made the leap and upbeat his wings. In that moment, safety for the first time ever became more important then her reservations. Grabbing onto his shoulders instantly to keep her balance, she had a kept her grip just enough to keep her self steady. It was bad enough that she couldn't stay on by herself or that she had to hold on to another person, a male no less, but she was not going to let on that it scared her.
Once that was over and he was steadily rising in the air, she felt better and looked around. Hearing Dataith she responded, 'I am fine, the view is amazing.' and so much better that it was voluntary this time. After gaining proper altitude, Datiath's wings beat in steady and even strokes. It would take them about half an hour to reach the weyr flying straight. The air was warm and the sun was shining bright with helped with the flight.
N'tren winced slightly at Caleten's grip but didn't say anything. After all, she was his first real passenger. Looking back, he grinned and happy to see that she was not white with fear or looked like she was going to be sick. A little tense perhaps but who wouldn't be?
"Everything okay back there? We will be to the weyr in a little while. Not in proper gear for going between and we're not allowed to yet anyways. Don't feel like getting chewed out by Farin." Turning back, N'tren looked out over the ocean, land and into the sky. "Sometimes, I wish we could just stay in flight. So peaceful."Easy for you to say. You only have to hang on. Datiath grumbled. I do all the work.At this, N'tren laughed. "I suppose you're right. But I feed you and keep you clean. That has to count for something."EvilSilverDragon For a moment, Caleten forgot her rule about not smiling in front of anyone, human at least. Smiling she nodded and responded, "Yea, this is amazing, I had no idea flying was this much fun." The first time she was in the air, it was against her will and ruined the whole thing. Now, she was enjoying every moment of it.
Gem had chirped at her, obviously happy she was being close to herself around N'tren. Unfortunately, for the flit, she had realized what she had done and lost the smile instantly. Turning her eyes, she just looked around as if she had not just done what she did.
Chuckling on the inside at Datiath she patted her side and told him, 'I thank you for doing such hard work, flying is really a lot of fun.' It had her considering coming back when hatching day came, even if her parents were there or one of her brothers were on the sand, it would be worth the risk for the chance to fly with a partner of her own. N'tren couldnt see the smile on Caleten's face but he could hear it in her voice. He wanted to turn around and smile back yet chose not to and in doing so lost the chance to see a really pretty face.
His mind was with Daitath's and both were on flying. He knew that he wouldn't lose his first and so far most important passenger yet a part of him was nervous. "It is one of the best things in the world! You can see and feel so much from up here."They were coming in to the weyr. The sun had filled the bowl and dragons and people were milling about all over the place. Datiath banked down and right to come in and land on one of the ledges. Bugling a welcome to the watch dragon, he responded.
I am Datiath. I am glad to fly you. I will fly you anywhere. She could not tell but his eyes were whirling fast with pleasure.EvilSilverDragon "The open sea must be such a sight from up here." She commented trying to imagain it in her mind. She hated the shore because it reminded her of the South hold, but to see the the water without the memory would be great. It also sounded like fun to see the other continet, to be somewhere that know one knew her.
Her eyes scanned the sceenery as they came to the weyr. She watched how the sun almost seemed like water the way it filled the bowl and kept holding on to N'tren as they came to land. Letting go when Dataith was safely landed, she was not all that eager to get off his back desite that it would get her at a better distance from N'tren. 'Thank you, Dataith, I will keep that in mind always.' If she would ask, was another story, but she would remember it. It seemed a lot of things happened with N'tren that she found hard to forget. Including klah cake, the kidea of it could make her chuckle when she wasn't around others. "Someday, I will bring you out and you can watch the sunset if you want. The waters and the sky go all shades of red and pink and purple and stuff..." N'tren began his dismount.
Hitting the ground, the young bronze rider turned around and looked at Caleten. He wished she didn't always have to leave. That she didn't always close up when they were starting to really be friends. There were a lot of things he wished but didn't say. Instead," So do you want me to help you get supplies for your trip?"Datiath looked down. Do not forget me when you leave. EvilSilverDragon She listened to what he said, but didn't comment. Yes, she'd be back to the weyr sooner or later. Dataith she trusted, but it was N'tren she wasn't sure about. He challenged what she thought of men, honestly it made uncomfortable. Maybe she was wrong, though men were the root of all problems, some are lesser and she wasn't sure what N'tren had done. It could be he did nothing wrong, she'd have to see but until then the blame stays.
Dismounting the same way as he did, she lightly patted Dataith's side in thanks. At his question, she restrained herself from rolling her eyes. "I know nothing of Weyr or where anything is, so help would be nice." Her words were at least said civilly unlike what she could have said. It wasn't very useful to insult someone that was going to help you, after all.
Looking up to Datiath, she told him, 'Datiath, I don't think it is possible to forget such a nice and impressive bronze such as your self. Don't worry, I certainly won't.' People were supposed to forget about her, thats how she stayed out of trouble for so long, in this case, that luck probably wouldn't last.Gem came off of her shoulder and started to fly around them, trilling softly Nodding, N'tren simply thumped Datiath on the leg. His eyes held nothing but adoration for his beast and at the noise coming from close to his chest, also gave Splotch loving eyes. "Go on and go get some sun you lazy beast. Let me know if you want to go hunting later."Datiath dipped his head and his rider and at Caleten. Stepping back, he leapt into the sky and took off for his favorite ledge. Goodbye.Turning back, N'tren gave a half-wave with his arm. It was mid-day and the bowl was not as busy as the morning or evening times. It was a brisk walk as N'tren headed for the lower caverns. "Just tell me what you want and I can get Cidrey or someone to get the stuff for you. It shouldn't cost any marks. The weyr always has extra."

EvilSilverDragon Caleten watched the great young bronze take off, she responded back, 'Good bye.' Bringing one hand up, she lightly pushed a strand of hair away from the side of her marred cheek and back behind her ear. Finally she turned away from looking to where Datiath left.
Looking back to N'tren, she considered what to request. He'd never get her to say she need under thing or such, but there were ways around it, "Any extra clothing the weyr can spare, I can use anything. Oil for Gem would be appreciated as well." The items were not important; it was knowing where they came from that mattered. Gem was on her shoulder, a paw on her ear, ready to play recon as she is normally asked to do. The gold thought of it as a game, sometime took it too far and told her things she didn’t really want to know where they were.
The bronze flew off towards his favorite ledge where his friends were already sunning. He would tell them about his day and then settle for a nap. An easy life for one so young.
"Not a problem. I got most of that stuff in my weyr. Well, not girl clothes. We can go ask Cidrey for that stuff first. Follow me," N'tren headed towards one of the larger entrances on the right. Hopping down the stairs, he was once again confident that Caleten would be right behind him.
It was not Cidrey that he found but another Lower Caverns worker. This one was not a person he was familiar with but being a senior weyrling had some perks.
"Hey you, we need clothing. Not for me but for her." And he pointed to Caleten behind him. "We also need some travel supplies. She has to move on and she needs some stuff."
The woman huffed but didn't really talk back. Grey eyes looked over Caleten once and she nodded. "Yes, yes... follow me."
EvilSilverDragon He was right, Caleten was right behind him the whole way. Her eyes carefully studied every inch of the path they were on so she could repeat the trip on her own in the future. The stone looked much like the stuff in the rest of the weyr, but with her memory and Gem with her, she'd be okay. One small hand, fingers calloused by the hard life she lived holdless, touched the stone as they walked by. The very texture was not surprising but she did it anyway.
Observing the woman she was brought to, she could tell the lady didn't seem happy about the task. Seeing that she didn't say anything but agreed to help her, she nearly grinned. Not only was N'tren one of the lesser off the evil males, but it seemed his being around her had benefits. When the woman told her to follow, she followed the woman. Caleten was far too proud to out right thank a male for doing something for her, they were supposed to after all. Instead, as she passed him to follow the lady, she looked at him, right in the eyes, a small smile and a nod were all he was getting from her.
Looking back to the lady, acting as if it never happened, she approached her.Gem on the other hand, trilled happily to N'tren, very glad he helped her friend and was not bothered by telling him so.
N'tren blinked in surprise as Caleten stopped and gave a quick smile before moving on. Not sure what to do or even to reply, the young bronze rider merely let his friend pass and follow the cavern worker. He wished he could remember the woman's name but his memory was not yet used to be used so...
The woman moved swiftly, taking several turns before coming to a pair of wooden doors. Giving one a good yank, she walked through and held out her hand. Bowing slightly, she spoke. "Everything you need for travel is here, including clothes and such. Take what you need and make a note of it."
N'tren bowed back. Ah ha... "Thank you, Talmera. You kindness will especially be remembered if you ever need a ride or a favor."
The woman flashed a grin at him. "You are a mite too young to be favoring me, bronze rider. Come back in a couple of years." And with that she flounced out of the room. N'tren blushed a deep red and sat down on a stack of bags.
"That is not what I meant," he said to empty air when he found his voice again. Looking over to Caleten, he tried to regain his composure. "Load up. I will write everything down... I know you don't like to leave your presence known..."
Whistling at Gem, he hoped that she would land and allow him to look busy and not like a lost teen.
EvilSilverDragon Caleten watched every turn memorizing it so she could repeat it alone next time. Every stone inch looked the same, but she was able and had Gem as back up.
What was behind the wooden doors surprised her, her eyes already looking for things of value and things needed to use. To respond, she said "Thank you" and started gathering cloths she could use and oil for Gem.
Her attention turned back to N'tren and the woman faster then she would have liked a she looked. Did she hear that right? She saw enough to see the blush before she turned sharply back to her task. Sure, she heard him talk to her, and certainly liked the idea of there not being records of her in the Weyr; however, she didn't say anything. Two containers of oils, a few sets of long sleeved clothing, under things tucked inside a plan dress.Gem came to N'tren and perched on his shoulder, trilling softly to him and even nudging his face with her wedged shaped head.Done, Caleten looked a bit longer to know what she could expect next time she came down here.
N'tren focused on scratching Gem and showing her Splotch. The little bronze was still sleeping contently in his vest. Every once in a while, he would open a set of his eyelids and croon before tumbling back into baby dreams.
The young bronze rider tried to make a note of everything she was taking. Some of it was common stuff-soap, clothes, oils... Other stuff, he was sure she was taking because she could. But the weyr had plenty to share so it was really none of his business. Standing up carefully, he went to the book and began writing down the supplies. To another reading the book, it looked like a rider grabbing weyr supplies.
"Read this. Everything look okay to you?"
Just then, the little bronze woke up in with his eyes tinged red with hunger. Hissing, he tried to get out of N'tren's vest and search for food. N'tren winced as sharp claws scratched his chest. "OUCH! Wanna go feed these two? Or at least, eat before your leave?"
EvilSilverDragon Caleten gathered the items she had taken, ranging them so they would be a little easier to carry. With most of the heavier stuff, such as the oils and soaps towards the center, the heavy cloth she had picked out was sagging in her arms towards the ground. Carefully, she fixed her arms a bit, even using her knee to push the items up so she could fix them up a bit. The few moments she was doing that, a little bit of skin form her ankle and shin were visible, but she was quick to hide the pale flesh back properly for her comfort and modesty. Turning, she looked at what he wanted her to read, after looking it over she nodded, "Looks fine." There had been a lot of times she was glad she stayed home long enough to learn from the Harper. Granted, this wasn't as important, but reading was a skill that has always served her well.
Her attention was then turned to the little bronze. She wanted to leave, to get away as soon as possible, but couldn't with Gem also asking for food. Rather then sigh, she said, "Alright." It would mean she wouldn't have to hunt for herself until into the evening, always a plus.
Not saying a word, N'tren lead them through the maze of hallways to the kitchens. It was now mid-day and riders and weyrfolk had started to file in. Stew was heavy in the air as well as fresh baked bread.
Grabbing two bowls, he handed on to Caleten. "Stew? Or something else?"
Splotch was now definately hungry and trying hard to get free to eat. With fire lizard firmly under one arm, N'tren moved forward to scoop some stew with lots of meat and veggies in it. Collapsing in a corner, he turned and waited for Caleten. "After this, I guess I shall see you when I see you, huh?"
EvilSilverDragon Caleten kept a steady gaze on her surroundings, watching the people milling around. She kept her body in as much shadow as possible, not to hide her marred face, but to hide herself. Not knowing if someone might recognize her, she felt it safest to try and blend into the wall. Gem, sensing her friend's need to hide, having been through this before, she flew from her shoulder. Instead of going between, she decided to stay with N'tren. She loved her darling gold, but knew her being with her would only help her stand out more, holdless don't get golds unless they are very lucky or thieves, and that was not attention she needed either. With one hand on the stone wall, she played with the shadows to her advantage with every chance she received. Her dress covered so much of her pale skin, and her dark hair hid her neck and a lot of her face, with the colors she chose, it was easier to seem part of the light's tricks.
Rather then take the risk of drawing more attention to herself, she took the bowl when it was offered to her and got the stew. It didn’t smell that bad, after all. With some bread she took, she had decent meal to start her travels on.
Someone sitting alone gathers more attention then someone in a group or a couple. That was the main reason she went to sit with N'tren, though she could admit to herself only that he was growing on her. Sitting down, she pulled some meat out of her stew and fed it to Gem before offering a bit to Splotch, very careful of her fingers as she did so.
Looking to N'tren she nodded answering, "Yes." She did not have a clue when she would be back. Out of the places she had been, she had only been back to a handful of them in three turns. The weyr seem to have a pull, besides his had Dathaith could fly, there was no telling if he might be over the same stretch of land she was walking one day and see her. So long as it wasn't when she was in danger, like being attacked, it would be okay. That whole damsel in distress thing did not work with her and to be rescued was humiliating.
N'tren felt sad but did not say more on the matter. Instead, he ate in silence, feeding bits of meat and veggies to Splotch. Occassionaly, he would give a tasty tidbit to Gem. Finally, the stew and bread was done. Taking his bowl and Caleten's, as she was done as well, he turned in the wares to a drudge.
Goodbye Caleten. Datiath said mournfully. Come back soon.
Outloud, N'tren echoed his dragon's words. "I hope you come back. By then, I will be allowed to fly between and maybe I can take you up North. I always wanted to see snow."
Splotch chirped sleepily at Caleten and Gem before falling asleep in his owner's arms. Who ever they were, they gave him food and were nice people on his very short list.
EvilSilverDragon Caleten gave up the bowl without a fuss. She was done with it as it was. Having giving a deal away to Gem and Splotch, she was planning her trip to include an early hunting and gathering session. It didn't bother her, not really.
Hearing Datiath she responded, 'Good bye, Datiath, I'll come back eventually, take care of yourself and N'tren.' Standing from her seat, she reached out and lightly scratched Splotch's eye ridge as she responded to N'tren, "Good bye, N'tren. A trip to the north sounds interesting." A one way trip that was. No one could threaten her if she was there, she could probably even join a hold without fear. Not wasting time on long good byes, she turned and just walked out, away from the closest thing she had to friends. That was her fate; she couldn't change or repair her past, at least not yet.Gem trilled sadly, a good bye nether of them really wanted to make but they were going.
N'tren watched Caleten leave and slumped down in his chair. Splotch was sleeping with large lumps of meat and tubers being digested in his stomach. He wasn't going to cry. After all, he was a dragon rider and besides that, a boy! Boys didn't cry. Not over something like this.
Getting up, N'tren carefully tucked Splotch away. "Another day, another time... When will you stop running, I wonder."
And with that thought on his mind, the young rider went to go clean up his weyr and take care of his bronzes.

Day with Caleten
I just don't understand girls. Or maybe, it is Caleten. Dattie and I got up early to go to the cove and meet with her. She wanted to help with his cleaning and I felt like I was under inspection. Maybe it was just Datiath she wanted to get close to... *sigh* I have done everything I can to help her and still she runs.
But it was a really great day because I IMPRESSED SPLOTCH! He is my little bronze flit. He is a light bronze color with darker spots all over him and his tail looks like it was dunked in ink. Right now he is all appetite and sleep.
*listens*
Datiath says I should not worry about Caleten and that she has her own wounds to heal. I guess he is right. I mean at least she doesn't accuse me of being evil or anything. Meanwhile, I can now go visit my family. My older brother and mother came to visit me but didn't stay long. I can't blame them. I guess I am more weyrbred than I was ever holdbred now. I miss the young ones.
OUCH! Splotch is hungry again. I will write when I have more to say.

HomeComing
N'tren rolled out of the bed and groaned. His back and arms were killing him from all the practices. Farin had been drilling them constantly in tossing frestone sacks. Since his group were known as the senior weyrlings and since Threadfall was quickly approaching, nearly every moment was spent thinking about Pern's ancient enemy.
Blinking the sleep out of bright green eyes, the young bronze rider wondered if his flying partner would eb up to going to the cove or one of the many small lakes around Rias. Wingleader L'cian had only just assigned them riding partners, especially for the longer trips, for exercise and practice. His partner, H'ryn, was the rider of brown Delamuth.
I like Delamuth. He tells me many things. Datiath butted into the jumble of thoughts.
"At least, you get along with him," N'tren grumbled as he stepped onto the ledge. "H'ryn treats me like a biting bug though he's only in his third decade."
The sun was partially hidden behindpuffy gray clouds. It looked like rain but in the south it was hard to tell. Sometimes, there were quick little storms that barely drenched the ground. Other times, it felt as if the ocean waters were trying to meet the lakes. Rias was lucky to be built into the cliffs; he had heard that some other southern weyrs were all ground level. N'tren personally preferred rock over his head to protect it rather than the broad leaves of the dense forests.
We will get in trouble if we fly without him or without telling Farn. Datiath reminded his beloved.
"Shards and shells! Can you bespeak to Delamuth? Maybe a shore trip will loosen up H'ryn." N'tren paused and looked in the direction of his parents' hold. Suddenly, the teen was inspired. "Maybe we can go home! See if they don't mind flying with us to Swakern Hold."
Datiath was quiet with his great bronze head cocked as he held the silent conversation. Bobbing his head slowly, the dragon looked distant from his rider. They can not. Delamuth and his rider have duty. Moth says to find Farin.
"Farin? Dattie you didn't have to-" N'tren started.
This is important to you. So it is important to me. Moth says to hurry up. Farin is in the supply room.
Racing back into his room, N'tren tossed on his favorite vest and slipped into his sandals. Hopping down the steps two at a time, the excited teen managed to avoid other riders and weyrfolk. He knew his way easily to the supply room; Cidrey had sent him many times for different things. Navigating the different twists and turns, N'tren barely managed to skid to a stop when Farin rounded the corner.
"WeyrlingMaster Farin," he gasped out.
"Datiath told Moth that the two of you wish to travel to Swakern Hold. Is that right?" Farin got right to the point.
N'tren gulped. "Yes Farin... H'ryn is on duty and I would like to see my parents. I haven't seen them or my siblings in a while." He stood nervously in front of his mentor and elder.
"Do you need to go /between/ for the trip?" She looked at him skeptically, waiting to see if he would lie or not. The great green listened in as well.
N'tren thought for a moment. Then he spoke, "Truthfully, no. It would be a few sunmarks to get there. We might have to to stop halfway. I don't want to strain Datiath." N'tren frowned as he thought about his lifemate getting hurt.
Farin nodded approving. He had said the exactly right thing. In fact, if he had said anything else she would have denied his request. N'tren was one of the more level-headed riders in her group but he was still young. "Moth will know if you go /between/ and she will let Ariath and Ephia know, do you understand?"
N'tren barely heard Farin over his heart beating. When it registered what she said he was barely able to contain his excitement. Nodding slowly, visibly trembling at the factthat hi request had been approved, N'tren gave one of his quick smiles. "Thank you Farin. I promise not to abuse the honor. A straight flight, there and back again. No tricks."
"And don't you abuse Datiath, young man. Now, get out of here." Farin nodded back and walked away.

"Green Rising"
N'tren was at the weyrbowl watching Datiath hunt. The young bronze was almost to his full height and length and would soon start to fill out. Hopefully, his rider would follow his lead. It was noontime and many riders and dragons were out enjoying the sun and eating. The lake was also filled with commotion from Rias's riders.
You are all leg and wing. If you were any smaller, some might think you were a brown. N'tren teased his lifemate.
Datiath came down on the back of a rather large wherbuck. He killed it with one swift blow not caring to relish in the kill. His stomach was more interested in the meat below him than his mind was.... He raised his bloody maul and turn to his young rider. Blinking slowly, he licked the warm blood off of his chops. It had become a game to joke about their size. And if you were any smaller... People would think I had no rider at all.
The teen laughed heartily. That was the advantage to being around other riders or even just being in the weyr. There was no need to explain strange outbursts, they just happened. His bright green eyes danced merrily as the teenager leaned against a sturdy wooden fence. Had it really just been over a turn since they Impressed? Sometimes, it seemed like his whole lifetime. Like he had been reborn with Datiath attached and nothing else mattered. "I am growing! I grew a lot this past season. Though I doubt I will ever be the giant my father is... My mother's family is full of short people." N'tren chuckled.
As it was, he was barely tall enough to climb up Datiath's fore arm without assistance. He was thinking about getting a ladder made of felis or numbweed fibers in case his body decided to stay the current height he was at...
Suddenly, an angry roar broke the bond between dragon and rider. Faceted green eyes and human curious eyes turned towards the direction of their interruption. In the main part of the weyr, a green had killed and blooded a herd beast. It was not a green that N'tren recognized on site. She was hissed in challenge to the other dragons that had formed a loose ring around her body. Quickly and without warning, she launched herself skyward and towards the clouds.
Blues, browns and bronzes of every shade launched themselves after her as quickly as possible. On the ground, a loose ring had also formed around the dragon's rider as the mating flight literally took off. N'tren swallowed as his throat went dry with the sudden emotion that sweeped across the bowl. He looked cautiously over at Datiath.
The bronze was still enjoying his meal. He looked skyward but cared not for the green or her suitors. After all, he was not yet mature enough to get the urge to fly and mate. Lazily, he filled N'tren in on the details.
Saymath and rider D'brym. She is a fighter. It was a good meal. The wherbuck had lived a good life and was not stringy like some other beasts he had eaten. And with Threadfall closing in, he was going to need all the energy he could get.
"Um... You don't care..." N'tren managed to squeak out. A tight ball of tension and something else had filled his stomach and was trying to sweep its way lower into his body. He sat down on a nearby rock and was trying to collect his thoughts when another wave of passion swept across the bowl. Apparently, the green was a fighter and had managed to discourage some of the smaller blues and greens. "Don't you think we should leave?"
Datiath huffed and went back to the belly of his meal. It really did not bother him to stuff himself while others were expending their energy to dispel their sexual needs. Neatly, he held the carcass in one claw as he started to swallow the last of the creature, fur and all. I am almost done. If it bothers you, we will leave now.
The teen wiped his sweaty palms against his leather pants and looked away. He spring green eyes were now almost a yellow-green in color and pupils were large enough to let marks pass through. But he was the rider, he needed to be in control no matter what. Especially as a bronze rider... It was as if he were a whole separate class from the others. Taking a deep breath, he stood and went dizzy for a moment. There was a flash of sky and then darkness as the riders started to move towards "designated rooms". Farin had explained them when they all started classes which had been interrupted more than once... But this time, something was different.
"I will be fine. I just need to get back to our weyr. I can climb the stairs and focus on other...things." N'tren exhaled and moved away from the pens. Somehow, he managed to get his legs working and away from the flight that was now in its very intense stage. What was wrong with him? He had seen other animals coupling before. It was a fact of life. But this...this effected him on a level on a way he could not explain. Stumbling away, the youth was glad to see that he was not the only one affected. He had heard tales of riders and commoners who had lost it all in an instant of passion caused by mating flights. Normally, the embarrassed pair parted ways and that was that; but maybe, it was the fact that he was holdbred and it wasn't something you could just walk away. Especially when it was your initiation.
A dark eyed girl girl with light brown hair and a low-cut tunic caught his eyes. She was not bad looking and would have caught his eye without the weight of a mating flight hanging above his shoulders. But Farin had warned him, older bronzes had warned him... Shards, even some green and blue riders had warned him about staying away until Datiath had reached full growth.
What is good for you must be good for me. Datiath butted into a train of thoughts that was not suitable for many people.
N'tren gulped and looked away, hoping she hadn't noticed him or his shoulder marks. Some weyr girls considered it a ranking in itself to see who could score the highest ranking rider. He knew of many girls who brought up the laundry or meals or messages that talked about sex just as easily as they talked about the weather. His ears burned red and hot at the thought of sex. No! It wouldn't happen this way!
Beloved. Relax. You would never harm me. I am going to the ledges to sun and be out of the way. Apparently Saymath is much sought after. Datiath crooned across the distance and then launched himself skyward.
That did it. Without hesitation or thought, N'tren grabbed the dark-eyed beauty who had stayed routed to the spot. She offered no resistance as he pressed his lips against hers. There was an urgency he did not understand as his body mold against hers with a need so fierce it almost brought him to his knees. She responded by wrapping her arms around him and pulling him in closer. In fact, any closer and a passerby might have thought them one. He filled with a longing and a loneliness only known by riders. One that the soul itself sought to hide because the heart and mind had been satisfied. The human need for touch, comfort and love. He fisted her hair as he savaged her mouth without question or reason.
A brown screamed in triumph as he came down on Saymath's back and wings entangled to complete the flight. There was a reason dragons flew high for mating flights. A low flight for a queen meant a low egg count; a low flight for a green meant that the two beasts might crash to the ground. It was as if a switch were thrown with their coupling. N'tren ended the kiss with a look of shock and horror on his face. He stepped back and stumbled into the wall. He met the girl's eyes and there was no accusation, no damnation of the atrocity he had just committed. Instead, it was as if resolution and understanding had taken the place of her mind and she was ready to be melded as he saw fit. It was just to much for a lad of sixteen turns.
Nefayeth and rider Z'raim caught her. A good flight, yes? Datiath butted in. How could an immature and not yet stimulated hatchling understand the ferocity of emotion coursing through his veins?
N'tren let out a strangled cry and rushed up the smooth cut stairs towards his weyr. He would not fall off nor would he collapse in his hour of confusion. Two hands pulled at his face and gripped his upper arms as he struggled to deal with overpowering thoughts that were not his. Finally, he reached an opening in the cliff that seemed familiar and fell into the cavern. N'tren had been lucky to receive a larger weyr higher up away from lower cavern drama. But nothing could escape the intensity of a mating flight.
Concerned, Datiath winged it to his ledge and landed. Worry and anxiousity took over the colors of happiness he had had and he bent down low to nuzzle his rider. What is wrong? Why are you like this?
The boy merely shook his head and crawled, hand and knee to his furs. He had managed to get a used wooden frame to toss his furs and covers upon. The bed was huge and would probably never be put to use. Timidly, he pulled himself into the mass of covers and allowed his body to just give way. Deep down, where he understood, he was appalled that he had abused another person and taken her as he felt fit. But higher in thought, it felt so good... So right that he wanted to repeat the experience and continue to learn more. Other riders had told him that it was best he did not go into his own first mating flight untried. But what was he supposed to do when the few females that appealed to him were not really in range for him to attempt...to attempt.
Screaming his frustration and anguish, N'tren beat into his pillows with both fists. Alarmed, Datiath tried to shove his head into his rider's living quarters.
"GET OUT AND LEAVE ME BE!" Came the hoarse cry before N'tren managed to collapse into an unconscious state.
Alarmed, Datiath started to bugle for help. A faint hint of what where his rider was and the fact that is was sleep kept him from calling his queen and dam. Nervous but not longer worried, the bronze settled to guard his rider on the ledge. After all, he was young and strong. All the others had gone off after the green had picked her mate. Splotch appeared and settled between Datiath's head knobs. He too had been out hunting when a mating flight arose. Only a few moons old, the little flit had not understood what was going on. Twin pairs of faceted eyes looked in on the human boy who was now far away from the confusion and passion. Splotch chirped in concern but Datiath shushed him.
Let him understand in his dreams what he could not understand awake. And with that, the two bronzes went back to guarding their prized possession.

Day After Green Rising...
Datiath woke my up this morning and man was my head aching. I called down for some fellis laced klah and tried to remember what happened last night.
When the girl showed up, the one with the dark eyes, I remembered. I had my first kiss and it was under the emotion of a flight. How stupid did I feel? She didn't day anything, I wonder if she even would...
But I didn't want my first kiss to be with some girl, some stranger. I wanted it to be with someone I liked and at least cared about.
Shush, Dattie. I doubt that either one of them would want to go kissing me. Especially her. It was like my whole body was on fire and I couldn't put out the flames.
What am I going to do when he is old enough to fly? I haven't even... You know... And I don't even know if I would know what to do. *blushes* I barely know what to do know. Maybe I should go talk to one of the older bronzes, or L'cian.
Just my luck, they might try to send for a girl or something. I have heard about that. I just... Maybe it's because I am holdbred... But I just don't think I could.
*sighs*
