Lex decided she needed a little more selling. "Now, now, Supergirl, we both know that your heat vision can't hurt him, so you wouldn't bother. But we ALSO know that it CAN hurt me, and yet you haven't loosed it on me for suggesting this yet, which means that you see the logic behind this. You want your revenge. You see, you have more in common with the human race than Superman does. Superman doesn't understand the concept of the gray area. Everything is black and white with him. If you stand for how he believes the world, this world that he wasn't born on, works, and stand for it in accordance to how he feels you should, than you fall in on the white side. However, if you don't stand for his exact interpretation of how this world works, no matter how little the divergence, then you're in the black area. That's what happened with you and him, isn't it? He used you for your power, this newfound power that rivals ven him, and when he found that he couldn't use you to further HIS vision of how things are supposed to be, he threw you out like a piece of trash. Didn't he?"

Right, she thought dully, Exactly right. She had just been doing her best, trying to save lives. And she had saved lives--countless lives. She hadn't killed anyone. Not a single person... who wasn't a Reaper. And yet, because her method was supposedly dangerous, Kal-El had decided that she had to be taken out. He and his friends had planned against her in their little club house... Well, of course! He couldn't taint his perfect public image... "I'm not sure," she said slowly, "What exactly it is that you want me to do, oh Brilliant One. Your plan seems fairly solid with or without me."

Lex nodded in agrement. "It IS solid without you, because it was developed without you in mind. It is only because of your obvious rage towards the so-called heroes that it occured to me to include you. I merely ask that you do what it is that you already wish to do. To beat Superman and all his little hero-type friends into the ground for daring to consider you something akin to trash, to be used up and thrown out at their leisure. Don't get me wrong, Supergirl, I still consider you an enemy, but the way I see it, I can set that aside to serve the bigger picture. You have enemies. They are the same people that are MY enemies. They know your weaknesses just as well as I do. They know your strengths just as well as I do. Just as they know mine. They ALSO know that under normal circumstances, we'd both balk at the very notion of even having this conversation with each other. However, the Universe is falling apart at the seams, and circumstances are far from normal. I will never lie to you, Supergirl, so believe me when I say that even though you are my enemy, in my mind, you are far too powerful to be considered anything LIKE trash. Yes, I am using you. But, in a way, you are also using me, because if you think about it, my plan will give you the opening you need to exact your just revenge. If you get right into the heart of it, you may be right about Superman and I being alike, as this is another example of his long-disused platform of Truth, Justice and the American Way. You see, the Truth of the matter is that despite the masks and ruses that they have used to disguise themselves from you for years, they have finally shown you their true faces, which it has become apparent that I have known about for as long as either one of us can remember. But, the Justice will come when you exact your righteous vengeance against these false heroes, these two-faced charlatans who would have thought themselves better than you, who is in fact stronger than any of them could ever hope to be. And that vengeance will come from siding with me, by letting me show you HOW to achieve that goal. Because THAT, my dear Supergirl, is the true American Way! You do whatever you have to do to achieve your goal, and if there isn't a way to do it, you make one. When the robber barons needed a quick but inexpensive way to move materials to different places, but there were no railroads, they made them! When the USA needed a way to break the deadlock against Japan, but there were no atomic bombs, they made them! Now, you need a way to make sure that Superman will never again see you as expendable trash, as an inferior tool that can be used on a whim, but you have no alliance with me, the only man capable of finding such a way, so what do you do?"

Supergirl crossed her arms and raised an eyebrow. "And if the plan works, and we beat them... All bets are off?" She didn't really need him to answer that question; he was Lex Luthor. It was a given that he would try to betray her.

A smirk came across Lex's face. "The proper response would have been 'We make one', but I suppose Kryptonians aren't quite so moved by such notions as humans are. Well, going on the premise that we try to show each other more respect than the charlatan heroes have shown you, I was going to let you fly off into the sunset to enjoy your vengance won. Consider it a show of gratitude to an equal." In truth, he hadn't decided whether or not that was the case. He had intended to play it by ear.

Kara smiled pleasantly, though it didn't reach her eyes. "Ah. Then by the same token, I suppose that it's only fair that I refrain from frying you before I fly off into said sunset." She still wasn't sure that she didn't want to kill him right then and there, actually.

(( Okay ))
A smile that was eerily like Supergirl's was on Luthor's face, also not quite reaching his eyes. "That it would be, Supergirl, that it would be. And why not? After all, I've just now been more honest with you in these past few minutes than the entire Justice League had been in the past couple years. You cannot deny this. I even admitted my personal enmity towards you, something that Superman would NEVER dare do with you, especially now, that you're more powerful than even he can imagine."

"Oh, of course. And the fact that it furthered your goals to be honest never even entered your head. You selfless humanitarian, you."
((Okay, now I'm really going to dinner.))

Lex laughed lightly. "You see? Conditioned to have to deal with the lies and treachery. But remember, I already admitted to the fact that I AM using you. It DID enter my mind. And I decided that selfless honesty was the best policy. Just like I said."
(( Really okay ))

Kara snorted. "We both know that you exaggerated in several places to make me angrier at Superman, but I'm not going to split hairs." She hesitated for a second, then removed her JLA communicator from her ear and tossed it to him. "Either way, you're not trying to hurt me right now, which is more than I can say for the League. You won't get much use out of that," she added, nodding at the communicator, "Kal-El probably hopes that I'll contact them and give myself up, but Batman will be less optimistic. Still, you should be able to listen in for a while."

Lex's smirk grew. "Well, at least we're both on the same page, then." He picked up the communicator and inserted it into a port on his armor. "There. Now I can use it to listen in, and pull its schematics at the same time. Once we get back to my labs, I'll be able to use this to develop a locator for anyone who's wearing such a communicator." Luthor had been wanting to get his hands on one of these for a while. In fact, he already had the locator ready; he just needed this to find the right frequencies. "It will make finding the Leaguers much easier. Plus, we'll be better able to keep an eye out for possible ambushes."

Kara arched an eyebrow. "We? What makes you think I'm coming?" Then the second part of the statement registered, and she frowned. "I don't think you'll be able to do anything but listen in on the chatter and deduce locations from that; Batman constructed it specifically so that it would be impossible to find another JLA member by using any of the issued tech-- In case someone got captured. You'd have to go through the Watchtower." A wide grin spread across her face. "Now my entry key to the satellite; that's a different story. Of course, I'm not sure I want you to have that."

Lex laughed at her initial question, but paused immediately when she said 'entry key to the Sattelite'. The Holy Grail of supervillains had just presented itself. "Well, although I DID stretch the truth, the fact of the matter is that you still want revenge. And you can't get that on your own. And you know it. THAT'S what made me think you were coming. And as for that entry key," Lex paused, so he could keep himself from sounding like a pathetic little child asking for candy from his parents, "That could be of some real use. I'd like that as well."
