Ellandra nodded. "So.... um, besides the chickens. . ." Then she paused and re-thought her question. ". . . How was. . . How was Faolan after the separation? I - I mean, even though her couldn't remember. . ."

"Ah guess he wis alreet," Keagan answered, shrugging a little. "He donnae remember it much, Ah thinks. He wis quieter afterward fae a long time. Then he started in wi' th' sleepin' around an' all. He always seemed a bit lost. Ah donnae think he really knew why, though."
"Why would w' need t' do tha'? W' got girls a plenty here, lad, and they're more'n happy and willin' to lie wi' th' didikai men and bear their bairns." Faolan grabbed the guy's arm none too gently and hauled him to his feet. "You best shut your gob, lad, afore some th' others abouts here listen in and decide to exact a little didikai justice."

Ellandra sighed softly. "I. . . honestly, i'm not sure how I reacted to it all; my father had every memory of my childhood until after Mama's death . . . removed, but I know that I was. . . . extremely subdued, myself, for a long time. only my father and aunt sought to reinforce that state in me. . . until I became what I am now, more or less. . ."

"You're too hard on yourself, lass. You be a fine girl and a good catch for my idiot son," Keagan said, reaching over to pat her hand.
A roustabout appeared in the doorway, glancing at Elle before focusing on the old man. "There's a strange man in th' camps. He seems t'be startin' a fight with Faolan."
Keagan sighed and got up. "Bloody hell. Boy can't even do renovations wi'out startin' shite." He shooed the roustabout off and looked at Ellandra. "Come lass. Let's gae get your lover out o' white'er he's got himself into this time."
Faolan glared. "Did you wanna see Elle or nowt, you dunderheid? Stop bein' a fyeul already. Ah wis joost tryin' t'help you up." He looked down at one of his hands, which was relatively clean and free of any sort of animal feces, then looked at William. Stupid judgmental outsider. He was losing his patience with the man.

ellandra smiled at keagan, and then blinkesd and jumped up at the mention of the outsider and a fight. "O-oh my, i hope everything's a-alright," she said, setting her tea aside, scooping Rhian - who had fallen asleep - up into both arms, and heading out the door to see just what exactly was going on.

"You're actually letting me see her? Why? Do you parade your kidnappees around in the nude or something?" Yes, william was seriously asking this. No-one ever said the man was very intelligent. Just vain and stuffy.

Keagan led the young woman to the camps, moving fairly quickly even at his slow walk thanks to everyone kindly getting the hell out of their clan leader's way. He stopped just short of the vardo where Ellandra and Faolan lived and took in the side of his adopted son apparently squaring off with . . . a nancy boy. Wonderful.
"Actually, Ah be th' one doin' the paradin' about in th' nude. Love th' feel o' th' night air on me nethers," Faolan replied with a mad grin, then frowned, getting more serious. "You're an idiot, aren't you, lad? Ah wis gonna let you see fae yourself she's alreet."

Ellandra's jaw dropped. "I - I know that man!" She gasped, shoving Rhian into Keagan's arms with a request that he hold her, then raced over to the two mean. "W-what in the world is going on here? Mr. Telemacchus? Why on Drente are you here"
Willia 's eyes widened at the sight of the yong woman he'd come to save. "M-iss Sanders, I received a letter from your aunt, she said I must rescue you immediately! Now that you're here, shall we go and leave this den of iniquity behind?"

Keagan strolled over with his armful of Rhian and stood near Zia, looking down at the alter. "How long has this gone on, lad?"
"Not really that long, Granda," Zia replied, eyes on the outsider man still.
Faolan put an arm around Elle's waist, and gestured to her with his free hand. "See noo? She be fine. Nae worries t' wor treatment o' her. You can gae hyem noo."

Ellandra snuggled up to her husband and kissed him on the cheek, smiling sweetly and ever-so-slightly-get-the-heck-away-from-me at William. "Really, I am quite happy here. There's no reason to try and get me to leave, I won't, you know."
The young man's eyes widened as he brushed frantically as his light blond hair and rubbed at his brown eyes. "What? It's worse than I thought! Ellandra, you poor dear, have they really deluded you so far? Come, we must leave at once!" And he grabbed her arm to try to drag her away, not knowing that of all the stupid things he'd done, this was probably the stupidest of all.

Faolan moved quick, faster than the eye could follow, instinct kicking in. He grabbed William's arm hard enough to force the man to release Ellandra with just the pressure he'd put there.
Keagan pulled the young woman out of the way as soon as she was free, handing Rhian back to her and hugging her, hoping she wouldn't have to see what his son's absolute fury looked like.
The halfbreed snarled at William. "You donnae touch ma wife. Ever." He pulled sharply at the other man's arm, dislocating the shoulder, and in a swift movement broke the bones of Willam's forearm, shoving him to the ground. Faolan was on him in seconds, fists coming down on the would-be suitor hard, sure to leave bruises and possibly a few cracked ribs. One hand raised, claws sliding forth, but before he could do any damage to Willam with them, Keagan had caught his wrist.
"Enough, lad. Let him go," the old man said calmly.
Faolan blinked, panting and glaring at the man pinned under him, then stood up, nodding. His claws retracted and he sneered at William, lips skinned back from his sharp teeth. "You ain't welcome here, lad. You best gae afore w' gae t'changin wor minds on doin' you more harm." He kicked William hard in the ribs and spat on him, then moved to see to Ellandra, wanting to know she was alright.
A few roustabouts came forward to help William up, and also to see him out of their camp and fairgrounds.

Ellandra had hidden her face against Keagan during the first moments of the beating; she wasn't afraid or anything, she was simply not the type to handle watching violence well. She hugged her dozy flutterby - who snored, which thankfully went unnoticed during the beat-down, and only looked away when she was sure the unwanted suitor was gone.
"F-faolan...?" She ventured quietly, her eyes on her husband's as she clutched Rhian to her, rather confused abotu what all had just happened.

Elsewhere, William Telemacchus, Jr., was bemoaning both his injuries and the mussing of his fifth-best suit.

Faolan looked at her, then down at the ground, cheeks reddening with shame. "Ah'm sorry you saw tha', but Ah'm nowt gonna let any man put his hand on you like tha." His accent was still thick with how upset he'd been over William's claim on his wife. "How come you ne'er told me you were engaged?"

Ellandra blinked at him. "Faolan, I didn't know anything until we visited my aunt's. I knew that man in passing, because my father knew him, that's all. I never had any idea that I was supposed to be married to someone, let alone that silly, idiotic man."
