Jumping Frog giggles at her brother's antics. "Something like that." She returns her gaze to the hole, delighted by her brother's words. "I could, really? He's so cute!" She has a twinge of jealousy, which she shoves aside, careful it won't show in her voice. It would be great having a pet.. Wish I'd seen this one first. As that thought forms, she gets an idea. "Hey, since I helped you, do ya think you'd help me get a pet?" While she speaks, ideas of what kind of pet she'd like flash through her mind. Foxbun? No. Snake? Maybe.. Not a swan, maybe a songbird. She wracks her brains, trying to think of other animals she's seen with Kimeti. "You ever seen a Kimeti with a pet frog or toad?"

Shaking more humidity off his fur, Smoke stood back on his fragile legs. “Of course”, he replied smugly, quite proud to have detected the critter first. His sister’s question, however, caused him to have a worried look. He started scratching his foreleg on his protruding horns while thinking. “Well, I haven’t seen many other people in the first place”, he said, “and even little with pets, but toads or frogs mustn’t be too farfetched. I mean, they’re somewhat cute, and they won’t try and bite you.” A short silence interrupted his speech. “But… they’re so easily scared. It's hard to catch them. You sure you want a frog? I'll see what I can do, I'm sure we can get one by surprise.” The question being purely rethorical - he'd already guessed Jumping Frog really wanted an amphibian jumper - he cancelled it immediately. Then, he got rid of that dry seed stuck under his hoof that was itching so badly.

Jumping Frog ponders his words, and some new thoughts they bring. "Hmm, would it get dried out too easily? I've noticed they aren't always present in all the places Kimeti gather." She hadn't met many others, but she had spent a lot of time watching them. "Maybe instead of a pet that follows me around, I can just gather a lot of frogs to my home and train them to stay somehow." That though makes her grin, it would be nice to fall asleep to a chorus sung just for her.

Smoke started cleaning his other leg, but was still listening thoroughly. “That’s a fun idea too. They prefer to stay in group, after all.” He stuck out his tongue, very concentrated, and annoyed by these patches slowly drying in his purple and green fur. “They eat mosquitoes, right? Then you won’t have to worry about them!” He liked the suggestion. If his home was ever invaded with such insects, he knew already he would look for frogs. Of course, he ignored the fact a mongoose may hunt said amphibians… “We’re gonna need more frogs. Can you croak? Maybe we can attract them by croaking.” The young kimeti let out in all seriousness a not-so-convincing croak.

Jumping Frog tries out a croak of her own. only she breaks into giggles before she makes a sound. It takes her a few minutes, but she's finally able to calm herself. Taking a deep breath, she tries again, and emits a sound halfway between whinny and screech. "Well not too close. But we could practice. Maybe find some frogs and watch how they do it." She wanders down to the waters edge, looking for said amphibians.

Smoke laughed a bit more before getting up and joining his sister. Still sticking out his tongue, he walked silently by her side and lowered his head to watch the water. Nothing in sight. After a moment, still nothing. Boring (Smoke Beetle tended to get bored rather fast). He shook his head. “Did we scare them? D’you think we were too noisy?” He didn’t really want to wait for the critters. It could take a few minutes, or several hours, he had no idea how long it would take to see, let alone hear or even catch one. Besides, he was getting tired, and with his tongue still hanging out of his mouth, he yawned.

She looks up, just in time to catch her brother yawn. Reflexively, she yawns as well, though she tries to fight it at first. Quickly, Jumping Frog finds that to be impossible, so she gives in, opening her mouth wide and taking in a great gulp of air. Exhaling it loudly, she shakes her head. "maybe, if we lay down a while, they'll come out." Finding a nice spot, she does just that, watching the water a bit before closing her eyes.

He couldn’t help but yawn again. Watching silently his sister lying down then closing her eyes, the foal tried to watch the surface of the water longer than she did. Sure he was tired, but he could very well find those silly frogs before her, and catch them, and boast… … and the next thing he knew, he was closing his eyes as well, and losing consciousness slowly, lulled by the noises of the swamp and dream-like images of toads swimming and croaking serenely. Meanwhile, seeing how the kimeti didn’t move anymore, the mongoose took advantage of the situation to scout the area and hoard more food.
[I suggest we finish this rp, what do you think?]
