Mood shifted quick as all that, Arion suddenly seemed far more light-hearted. His half-closed his eyes while they walked a moment, mentally leaving his current company to focus on some of the other sounds. He hadn't missed the shouting of the proclaimed pirate and his woes of alcohol bans and his subsequent insults. He was suddenly aware that there were two babies, someone who didn't seem to walk walk--Hmm? And someone flying upwards to their destination. Well. This certainly wasn't the formal event he had been making it out to be.

He shook his head with force, but still just slightly, from side to side to clear himself back to where he was. His eyes focused on Gabrielle, his face as polite as before, but now something alive and not nearly as judgmental expressed itself in Arion's features. "I swear if you waste good red rum to try to paint me pink, I'll have the pirates take you for Sea-Blasphemy." Even though Gabrielle had normal hearing range, Arion was certain that the other's shouts could have been heard by the angel. He looked straight ahead of him, one hand going up a bit, in explanation, "Besides which, I think you would need an albino."

He snorted slightly. However amusing or attained -- delusions or rum stains -- he'd fight pink and fluffy attributes. "Of course, you've two strikes now. You drink water and pour wines out on creatures." He gave Gabrielle an easy up and down look, the first time Arion had taken time to notice his appearance, "Ah, and of course you appear to be a creature of the air. Three strikes. Down the---whatever it's called---to send you into a water abyss! You'll be drank by your drink. Best keep yourself away from Sir Rum back there!"

He made a humming sound in the back of his throat, "Of course, drinking your company-friend may put you back in good graces. I can't say that's likely to be good practice in keeping a vast amount of friends."

He cast a glance toward the Lady Aruru, his look now decidedly amused and energetic. He side stepped so that he was between her and Gabrielle. "Be careful, my Lady Aruru, this one has shady characteristics about him."

He cast a glance downwards, and flicked his flute with a mild look of impatience, but it was very quick before he was again looking up at his new acquaintances.

It had taken a while to get Locke to agree to come along, but he supposed the fact that Nadeshiko and torn off ahead of them had helped. They didn't really socialise much as a couple, despite both being from well-to-do families. It just wasn't something that came up on their schedule very often. Locke worked and Calibe...well....Calibe babysat Nadeshiko, while trying to arrange her a marriage, because like hell was she going to run off and be a tramp. No. She would marry respectably. Even if Locke would disagree with it.

"Here we are." He walked out into the garden, holding Locke's hand as they followed the servant out there, having just arrived by horse and coach. He looked around, spotting his daughter talking to a...dragon and a drow? He frowned a little. "Nadeshiko!" He called, in a tone that demanded she come to see them.

Nadeshiko watched Macy just then, having had her fill of the babies for now. They were cute, but only so interesting. That was, until she was asked to hold Phantasma. Her face lighted up happily and she nodded, carefully taking the baby girl from the dragon, cradling her. Ooooh! She was so precious! She cooed down at the baby, running a finger through her hair.

"Eh? Daddy?" She asked, looking up in surprise at Calibe. She pursed her lips and peered down at Phantasma, then shook her head. "I'm holding a baby!" Was her reason for not going over straight away, and it was a perfectly fine reason.

"Zubi, have much wine have you ingested?!" Macy asked, looking unimpressed as he slung an arm across Zubi's shoulders, rolling his eyes at his outburst. He conked him on the head with his hand again at that. "Be nice to the people that let you enter their home!" Was his hiss of a reply, realising that Zubi was going to use him to bounce off of while drunk.

"Doesn't help when you yell your intentions, you fool." Macy chuckled, grinning back at Zubi, feeling much better already. He rolled his eyes again, shaking his head in good humour. "You are gone already, goddamn, Zubi." He muttered, peering over at Bayne when he spoke, barely feeling the slap on his shoulder. "Estelle's living with Caspian for now." He answered. "I haven't seen her for a couple of weeks."

"Ehh..no, Hyde isn't like that, silly!" Aruru giggled at Arion, shaking her head. "He really is pink and fluffy. Merethist and Liere have seen him too..!" She answered, looking in surprise at Arion when he commented on her balls. Oh, were they? She'd never given it much thought before...but she supposed so...she was a tad OCD when it came to perfection of her events and maybe it did really, really pay off.

"Oh no. I don't have an escort." In truth she hadn't had an escort for many years She had been happy enough to go with friends or alone. She wasn't the type to ask or be asked, not since her husband had passed away. "I tend to just go along with friends. Though Lady Shiayla has gone again...I suppose she's gone to check on things." She commented, following after Arion. She waved in greeting to the Sphinx, making a note to go say hello to her when she was free. "Arion pink and fluffy would be so funny...!" Aruru laughed at the image she got, finding it awfully amusing.

"Elden....?" She asked as they started walking up the stairs. She glanced around and noted a fairy standing on her own, beckoning for her to come along as well. The more the merrier! She glanced back in time to see him pat his flute, nodding with a bright smile. "That's lovely.

Locke trailed after Calibe meekly, fairly unused to social events. Calibe had cajoled him for quite a while to get him to come, and he'd finally caved, but this was probably only because Nadeshiko had also come. He spotted Nadeshiko as Calibe did and observed his husband's expression with a frown of his own. "Calibe." The Unicorn scolded, well aware that Calibe obsessively wanted to control Nadeshiko, along with everything else in the world.

"Maybe we should go home." Locke added darkly, well aware that Calibe was probably only here to keep an eye on Nadeshiko. "After all, you've never been social, and I don't think Nadeshiko really wants to come over right now." It was back to their usual arguments; Locke didn't believe Nadeshiko should be stuck in an arranged marriage, but Calibe was insistent.

Raeli couldn't help but give a slight chuckle in response to the fairy's first comments. Not because he found the words amusing, but because it was kind of cute the way he seemed to be trying. That alone was amusing enough. "I'm affraid I left all my sparkles at home. I would have to borrow yours." He said shaking his head to hopefully shake his inner snickering. It made him wonder how old Digitalis actually was. He wasn't that old himself, but all the same.

"I wouldn't mind one. Can never really say no to an offer." He replied with a nod, motioning for the fairy to lead the way. "I'm sure there are plenty of your species around. I swear every corner I turned there was some bright, cheerful soul enjoying themselves. Should I assume the fact you haven't met many other species is that this is your first time here? Or perhaps you've visited before, and just not been lucky enough to meet anyone?" He asked with a twitch of his wings. He should visit his friends some time soon. He missed them dearly.

He managed to catch a quick glance around and notice the number of attendants inscreasing steadily. He guessed he must have arrived in the beginnings of the function if he had only few to chose from company-wise. "I should expect things will get a lot noisier, if not more roudy. The introduction of alcohol to a crowd, is really not the best sight to watch in most cases." He commented more to himself than to his new 'friend'.

The angel started for a moment, once again. It seemed to be becoming a common occurrence when in the fauns company, "Paint you..? O-Oh! No not that! That's not what I meant at all!" He protested quietly, shaking his hands for a moment at the horned man, "I meant that.. Well, if we were drunk enough then maybe we would start.. Believing that.. Well.." He lifted the back of his hand to his mouth, "Oh! You know what I meant!" He proclaimed, doing all he could to stop himself from giving his foot a little stamp. He was sure that deep down it had just been a mis-understanding.. He had been mumbling and attempting to keep a bit of a low profile after all.
"And.. No you wouldn't.." Even Gabriel himself sounded doubtful of that one.. He could only hope that the faun wouldn't try to fob him off on one of the loud elf pirates and his strange way of talking..

"But.." His brows knitted into a small, confused frown as he loitered on the bottom step, "Strikes..? Sorry? Wait!" He flustered, stumbling over his words as Arion seemed to be getting onto a roll, "Now wait just a moment! As an angel I'm not attuned purely to air! I'm actually aligned with water, despite me wings!" He protested, cringing at how weak of an argument it was. The faun seemed to righteous that it was pretty hard to build a good argument against him, "Like.. Guardian deity but.. Not that divine.."
He was starting to get confused now..
"Shady!?" He sputtered, "Shady!? Wha-How?"

Gunner was happy to pass his daughter to Nade for a moment, quickly tucking his arm around the drow, "Now now, my love. I'm sure she'll be fine.. They'll only continue their game in a moment when they are reunited!" He mused, gently giving Nathan a one-armed jiggle as the kicks to his ribs finally ceased.

"And we shall go and find ourselves a drink in just a moment.. Perhaps Miss Nadeshiko would be so kind as to lead the way?" He tried, hoping to keep the situation calm for now.
"Though maybe we should avoid the elves and their current company just for now." He added, giving the drow a squeeze.

Phantasma went quite still as her kicking battle was interrupted and she was passed away from her father to.. Wait this wasn't mummy.. She turned her massive green eyes up at the pink mass with a strange thing protruding from her head.. She gaped a little in wonder, her corners of her mouth turning up into a slack-jawed smile to coo a little.

"HOW much wine!?" He tried to sound outraged, but he couldn't get rid of the humored twang to his voice even if he tried.
"I'll have you know.. I've hardly touched the stuff!" He raised a warning finger at Macy, "Only two bottles!"
Again the knock didn't seem to be noticed, "And I am the nicest person ever! How in hell have I been rude!? Just bringing a long a thoughtful gift!"

Bayne scuffed his foot for a moment, now feeling a little awkward for having asked on top of feeling quite terrified, "Oh.. Oh I see.. Well at least my knees are safe this time around!" He laughed nervously, catching a hold of his long braid in a death-grip.

Calentze peered around, wondering why he had let Cielen drag him and Talon to this thing. So, his brother's were attending. Did it really matter? He had research that needed to be done and Oni hearts weren't exactly legal to dissect.., or leave lying around his lab. Goddamn. He peered at his bonded, looking caught between just playing along because he loved Cielen that much, or flying off home, with the added fact of Talon being here...ugh...and Nadeshiko was here too...those two were going to argue til the cows came home.

Stupid bonded and his stupid pleading face that Calentze couldn't ignore. His bonded was evil, he knew it. Deep down. Cielen was some kind of evil.

Calibe flicked red eyes down to his bonded, frowning slightly. He could at least act like he wanted to be here. Calibe was going to enjoy the free cakes and tea. Maybe this would warm up to Locke actually wanting to sleep with him tonight, instead of having to be coaxed into doing it. Calibe grinned at that though, the frowned when Locke put on his 'argument tone', or rather, his 'I'm not going to agree with your methods, love, listen to me.' tone.

"I'd like to stay." Calibe answered, staring down at Locke with a decidedly soft expression. "I'd like you to stay with me." He murmured, lifting Locke's hand to press a kiss to the back of it. Might as well be charming, though trying to divert an argument moves hadn't worked this time. "Nadeshiko will come over once she is ready to." He snapped, looking unhappy about this being brought up here and now.

"Hello baby~" Nadeshiko cooed at Phantasma, rocking her gently from side-to-side, completely enthralled with the little girl. She loved kids, but it wasn't like her parents were planning anymore, nor was she even thinking about marriage and kids and the lark. She was happy enough being in kid mode for now. She nodded at Gunner, beaming.

"Sure! I helped Auntie Ru set up, so it's no problem!" She chirped, turning to lead the way across the garden and over to the steps, cuddling Phantasma as she went. Aruru wasn't her real auntie of coarse, she just knew the elf through Shiayla and Macy. "Oh? Mummy and Daddy?" She asked Illy, looking over to them. "They're in 'nearing an argument' mode, best not to go see them just yet."

"You're a crap liar, Zubi." Macy replied, elbowing the other lightly in the ribs. Yeah, Zubi could take all his worries aay in an instant. Even if he was part of Caspian's crew, he thought of the little elf as a good friend. No pain included. Despite the room for remembrance. "Only two?" He asked in a disbelieving tone. He looked at Bayne for confirmation. "How much ahs he drank already today?" He asked, chuckling. "You do realise, that Estelle will be living on Hades, right?" Still, he knew it was good for her and Caspian to live together for a while. He'd caused his poor child enough stress.

"RUDE! you are rude!" Macy answered, tugging delicately on Zubi's ear, laughing in amusement. "You're not nice, you liar!"

Arion was still standing between Gabrielle and Aruru, now side walking so that his body was mostly twisted to look at Gabrielle, though he didn't entirely have his back toward the lady. He wouldn't dream of doing such a thing for a moment of mockery. He held his arms out as if warding off Gabrielle from the elf. His footsteps had taken a decidedly trot-skip-clopping to them as he walked.

"Angel!" Arion somehow both snorted and voiced the word. "You call yourself an angel, and you would joke not only of wasting good rum on painting unsuspecting men, but you would joke about being drunk enough to hallucinate! Angel, Lady Aruru, that's what he calls himself!" He turned momentarily, giving her a friendly grin and nod of the head. He was still being respectful, really. If she'd been anyone with a lower status, he'd have winked.

"You know what a fallen angel is called, don't you, Gabrielle? And your adding strikes are beginning to prove your fruits!" Arion made sure that he did wink to poor Gabrielle. He didn't want the man taking him utterly serious and being guilt ridden the rest of the night for whatever horrible misdeed he may have committed. Or getting angry. He didn't know much about angels other than what stories said. After all, in truth he'd never met one. If the half about angels powers was right and the half about them being nonrevengeful creatures was wrong, he didn't want to really make him angry or anything. But Gabrielle was too amusing not to tease.

He now turned his body so that he was the opposite, looking more toward Aruru, but with his arms still back like he was warding off the now somehow fallen angel. "Oh, my Lady Aruru, I fear for such a precious marvel as yourself meeting shady angels."

Cielen walked slowly through with Calentze, gazing around the party appreciatively. He glanced at his bonded, raising a brow at his torn expression. Cal had never been the most social creature in the world; Cielen knew that well enough, but the Unicorn did like to go to social events every once in a while. "It's not that bad." He chided softly, pursing his lips.

Calentze needed some time out of his study, anyhow. His obsessive studying in his lab was getting over-the-top ridiculous. Cielen hardly saw Cal himself, as he too was often busy working in the healing wards.

Talon's bright eyes flicked around mischievously as he explored. His parents weren't far behind him and were no doubt keeping a careful eye on him. The Alicorn turned around to observe his father. "Hey, old man, thinking about flying off?" Tal snickered, well aware Calentze was going to take offense. That was the point, after all.

He spun away, his eyes landing on Nadeshiko. His lips formed into an expression of apparent distaste as he observed his cousin. "Ew." Talon rolled his eyes.

Locke watched Calibe carefully, faintly surprised to see the other's expression soften. Calibe rarely revealed any softer side, and besides this, they were in public. The Unicorn looked faintly flustered as his lover kissed his hand. Of course, it had the desired effect; Locke forgot about the budding argument for the time being.

"O-oh.." He muttered, shaken out of his reverie by Calibe snapping. "She will also decide who she wants to marry." He added, his usually light air darkened by the argument.

Calibe smiled a little at Locke, brushing another kiss to the back of Locke's hand, trying to stop the argument yet again. Really, in public at a party? It wasn't the best time to do so, not at all. "Love, let's not fight now, please." He murmured quietly, before leading the other into the small crowd of people, shifting to settle his arm around Locke's waist.

Maybe she did, but for now he was choosing who she married.

Calentze stared at Cielen, still not looking at all impressed over being here. He peered up at the sky again, noting how nice and clear it was, hardly any clouds. Nice weather for flying away from things. He looked to Cielen, dark eyes pleading and unhappy at Cielen's words "Yes it is, it really is." He answered, tone slightly pouting. He was glad he could spend time with his bonded, he just wished it was more private, less formal. He peered down at Cielen, still contemplating dropping his hand and flying off. He was used to being reclusive, maybe being away from the lab was giving him withdrawal symptoms.

"Shut up, Talon." He answered caustically, walking a little faster, now wanting to prove Talon wrong. Oh no, he was going to stay, but that didn't mean he'd have to be social. Even if he did know Shiayla, Macy, Locke and Calibe.

xxxx

"Eh?" Aruru grinned at Gabrielle, rather amused that Arion seemed to keep twisting his words. The poor little Angel, he was so flustered...! "You want us drunk, Gabrielle?" She asked in a mock scolding tone, smiling to show she was indeed teasing, trying to show this. Though Arion shielding her was enough to make her clutch her sides and laugh outright.

"Oh indeed, he is mutton dressed as lamb...! In the sense of being what he is not considered..!" She laughed again, cheeks flushing with happiness. Oh yes, she was having fun already! This was why she had organised this party, so people could have fun. They reached the tables laden with tea and cake and she went over, picking up a buttered and jam-filled scone, holding it delicately on it's doily wrap.
PostPosted: Thu Jun 25, 2009 6:16 am

The angel seemed to wilt more and more as he attempted to explain himself only to be met with more teasing little jabs. What was he to say!?
"Y-Yes! An angel.." He started strong, "And no, I.. Don't mean to insinuate.. That.. You should be drinking.. Just that.. If you did.." He started to falter, "And I''m not a.. Falle-.." His shoulders hunched he ducked his head down further at the elfs last comment, wings tucked tightly to his back..
Mutton? That was striking a little too sharply. He wasn't that bad surely.

Gunner grinned toothily, rubbing Illys side happily and mock puffing himself up in defense, "Manly!? You didn;t steal my manly moment! I'm far too manly to merely have a moment of manliness, my love" He replied mirthfully, his tail curling in amusement from side to side as he walked, leading then after Nade.
"Unfortunately though, my most beloved, we will have to wait a while before was can start on anything.. Stronger.. This is, after all, a tea party.. And you're forgetting who it is, guarding the rum for now." He pressed a swift kiss to the drows temple, happily holding him to his side.
"What is the food like, Nade?" He enquired, flicking a few stray hairs out of his face with a puff of warm breath, some of it catching over one of his lightly curved horns before giving his son much the same treatment with a smile.

Phantasma was even happier than before! The pink thing spoke! It sounded so different from mummy-smear and daddy-smear but it sounded pretty nice, really! Reaching out she happily took a hold of the closest piece of pink fabric she could get a fist around and started to burble back in earnest at the nice squish pink thing! This was great!

Zubi sputtered with mock indignation, gesturing wildly with a bottle, "A crap liar!? A CRAP LIAR!? I'm a great liar! Well, if I was lying in the first place.. Which I'm not, ol' Macy!"
He took this moment to swing an arm up onto the unigons shoulder and leaned against him.. Well, half leaned against him with a grin, dark eyes sparkling with mirth.
"And yes! Only two!" He muttered under his breath a moment after, pulling a face at the tug to his ear, this gesture making it through to his brain at least.
"Ohhh, Macy Macy Macy.. You wanna be careful with that! Getting dangerously close to an erogenous area there! You'll have me all over you before you know it!" He teasingly threatened before gently knocking the bottle against one of the unigons many horns.
"What does an elf have to do to get a bottle opener over here?" He then announced to the gathering in general.

"Honestly, Macy.. I lost count after the first crate.." Bayne replied after a momentary shiver, possibly induced with the thought that his body was never going to be safe again from the pink menace with the sharp pointy stick.

Locke shot a steely gaze at Calibe, a frown still marring his usually more carefree features. "That is not your decision to make, either." The Unicorn pointed out, his face creased with soft worry as he shot a look at Nadeshiko. Calibe seemed to view his grip on the situation as absolute, but Locke was rather unhappy about it. Besides, he'd had a feeling Calibe had dragged him here purely to keep an eye on Nadeshiko.

"This was a bad idea, anyway." He whispered softly, glancing around himself. "You know I don't like parties."

xxx

Cielen sent a dry expression to his husband at his words. "No." He replied, looking faintly annoyed with his bonded. "You prefer spending time with Oni, rather than me, your son, or people in general." The statement was glaringly true. Calentze seemed to think playing with dead demon parts was way better and more orgasmic than sex. And who knew? For Cal, it probably was. Had there been a gaping hole in the ground there was no doubt in Cielen's mind that his lover would have taken the oppurtunity and hidden in it.

"He does have a point." The tan Unicorn added after Calentze had rebuked Tal. "I'm sure my brother's husband would be better to dance with, besides." Cielen smirked. He knew Calentze well enough to know how jealous he'd become, although he couldn't tell whether it would make the other fly off or try decapitate a few people dancing. He deserved to be jealous, after all. Cielen's mother had fervently agreed he wasn't valued enough.

"There he is." Cielen's eyes located the albino with ease and he began strolling over, a pleasant smile plastered upon his lips. He watched Locke storm off with a faint expression of surprise. Oh, well. Locke couldn't dance, either. "Calibe! Why don't you dance with me?" It was clear the Unicorn was willing to forget what he'd just witnessed and that that might be healing for Calibe, who tended to take public humiliation badly.

xxx

Talon watched his mother stray away to cling to Calibe with a wicked smirk. "I bet you can't dance. And I bet he can dance. But don't worry, I'm sure mom loved you while it lasted." The Alicorn declared smugly. Cielen probably didn't even realize it now, but Tal had found out that Calentze had liked Locke in the first place and that he'd been pretty pissed when Locke bonded with Calibe.

"Can you say 'smack in the ******** face', Dad?"
