Lucifer listened on, staying on step with Viraj. "It makes sense, I would guess." Lucifer continued to follow Viraj, there was something about him which intrigued him a lot. "But my question is, wouldn't you want someone special? A follower who you could trust with your darkest secret? Someone who understood you every thought and action?"
Lucifer thought, that's what a queen was for, someone who stood in the shadows and watched, but never judged or pushed away the thought process of her king.
Lucifer already felt the warm presence of the sun was on the way, the cold night's air was becoming something of a warm breeze now, he was curious as to what Viraj wanted to show him, and he was shocked at himself. He had spent almost the entire night with a complete stranger.

He took care to listen to Lucifer's words, to take in his reasoning. He'd never had anyone try to convince him to find someone to settle down with, not even his parents. For some reason, they had never encouraged him to find a mare; in fact, they seemed to avoid the topic at all costs. Remembering them brought a wrinkle to his brow, and he shoved their memory away, to the back of his mind. He didn't care to recall their faces, their voices.
Light trickled through the thinning treetops, and as they neared the edge of the forest, Viraj, too, could feel the warmth of the morning. Once he stepped past the last tree, he came to the end of the cliff which skirted the edge of the forest, overlooking the plains miles below. Mountains, varying in shades of blues, lined the distance, embracing the steadily rising sun. The sun still poked barely from the tops of the mountains, and the morning sky was only beginning to glow.
In short, it was beautiful.
Shifting uncomfortably, Viraj looked out over the morning, his wings folding tightly to his sides. He had come out here earlier that night, and had been met with darkness, the mountains having cast a black shadow over the plains in the night. He knew it would be a different case that morning, and so had planned to see it.
He hadn't planned on having a companion, but plans change. It was a bit embarrassing, letting anyone know he had wanted to see the sun rise, but something told him Lucifer wouldn't mind that a kalona wanted that.
Turning his head a bit, he peered at Lucifer through strands of ebony, studying him in the pre-dawn's morning glow. Arching an eyebrow, he quickly looked away, frowned. Heh, he must have been pretty lonely, because Lucifer was starting to look almost... good, in this light. Taking it as nothing, he shook his head and looked out at the mountains once more.
"I'll be there soon," he muttered, nodding toward the mountains. "I know there are others who would follow me, and I want to go as far as I can. Perhaps, somewhere along the line, I will find the one who I may indulge my deepest, darkest secrets in." He shrugged a shoulder, snorted. "Or perhaps not. No one could love a weak kalona. No one with pride."

Lucifer's jaws dropped when he saw the mountains ahead, they were...stunning. He closed his eyes and took in another warm breeze, imaging the wonders and all the adventure that lie beyond those mountains.
Being with Viraj was quite literally , a life changing experience. It wasn't every day you meet a new friend, promise to go on a adventure with them, and then have that same friend you met only hours before bring light to your life struggles, it was a treat for Lucifer, and that's speaking lowly of the experience.
Lucifer felt a twinge of pity when Viraj called himself weak. "If there is one thing i've learned throughout my life..." Lucifer took a deep breathe. "It's that race and power aren't necessarily connected." He nudged viraj on the shoulder with his own. "Look at yourself, at your knowledge, and your inner strength. In one night you've managed to release all my inner demons.. How is that weak?"
Lucifer smiled, it was a weak smile, but hey, it was something. "And plus, I'm glad your not like other Kalona. If it was up to there standards we wouldn't be up here together... You'd be up here alone, feasting on my flesh." He giggled, it was his own form of a joke. "And to me, your one of the strongest stallions out there, you brought back my happiness..."

"Hn."
His usual smirk reappeared on his features, and he mentally kicked himself for speaking his mind. Pity was the last thing he'd ever wanted, and he hadn't even meant to say what he'd said in the first place. Gods, he'd hardly known the male and already he was opening up. Giving his head a good shake, he resolved to be more careful with his words.
"Oh, don't get me wrong," he began, pawing lightly at the grass. "I didn't mean to ask for pity. Although it is ironic..." Viraj blew gently on his bangs, searching his mind for the right words. This was... what, the third time he'd heard something along those lines? Ever since he had come to the Kawani lands, in the short amount of time, he'd already been proven wrong three times. Three times. Wasn't that enough proof to show that he had nothing to prove? That he could just be himself without worrying about what others thought?
"You've voiced what I have heard before, Lucifer. I have heard this argument from a wise Angeni and a young, hot-headed Kalona, and now you. I wonder if, perhaps, it is me who is the dumb one?" A grin spread his lips, showing off an array of pointed teeth.
You brought back my happiness...
He flinched, blinking once in Lucifer's direction. What? How had he managed to do that, when he had only succeeded in pissing off every other soquili he'd met? Intrigued, he unknowingly leaned in a bit, bringing his head down to better meet the eye level of Lucifer.
"I've made you happy?" he asked, brow furrowed in disbelief. "... explain yourself."

Lucifer smiled warmly. "Oh , but you did..."
Lucifer looked up toward Viraj, the other stallion was just a little taller, but Lucifer felt dwarved anyways. " In one night you've managed to show me the light of things, and that i'm not alone..." He rolled his eyes to himself. "And i know we've only known each other for one night, but i trust you.. Because you seem to understand me. And.. I'm happy to have met you, because I feel a certain connection to you, like.." He studdered a bit. "I feel i can open up to you...And I don't know, I really like that about you, because of you my inner demons are gone, I would say~"
The sun was a tad bit higher in the sky, and he could already see the birds had taken to the skies, he looked at Viraj's wings and wondered how it must feel like to fly, his father had the ability to fly... A trait none of his spawn had inherited.

Exactly what he wanted to hear.
Although he didn't know which it was - his influence, or the stallion's own willingness to immediately devote himself to another - he was pleased, nonetheless, by Lucifer's answer. Viraj would try not to let it get to his head, this sensation of being "important"; after all, if it had taken this long for Lucifer's demons to be banished, and he had managed to do it in one night, didn't that make him something? But he wouldn't dwell on it. Not now, at least.
Catching him eyeing his wings, he flapped them once, twice, then folded them neatly at his sides. "They're grotesque, aren't they?" he mused, chuckling lightly. "Leathery, and dark... nothing like the pure, feathery wings of a bird. And somehow, I still feel like one when I take to the sky, although I suppose I would be better compared to a bat."
It wasn't uncommon for creatures who lacked the ability to fly to wonder about it, just as Viraj wondered what it would be like to have to get by without, or to be able to breathe underwater. He recognized the look in Lucifer's eye, and decided to prod into it more.
"You look curious," he began, clicking his jaw. "I wish I could help you experience it, but I don't think I could hold your weight and fly at the same time." It was a pity, really. Had Lucifer been a foal, he could have found a way to take the boy on a quick flight. Thinking, he couldn't imagine a way to recreate the experience, either. Flying was just... flying.
Rolling a shoulder, he closed his eyes against the sunlight. "It's not all it's cracked up to be. Really."

"I think they're quite beautiful... I mean, look at them." He wanted to nudge Viraj with his nuzzle in protest, but decided not to. "Anything that succeeds in nature is beautiful to me." Lucifer never thought Kalona were evil, just mis-understood. They needed to survive too.. Even if it meant sacrificing a life, that was why nature exsisted, it was a necessary cycle.
"I suppose you are right...I would say your not really either, your more like... A dragon, because your way bigger then most birds~" he had a playful tone, he was teasing Viraj in a sense.
"And don't worry, I'm sure i'll find something that no one else can experience and they'll wonder what it feels like to have what I have, and not ever be able to have it." He took a deep breathe, the warmth of the morning breeze filling his lungs, he felt... refreshed.

"Hmph! A dragon. It is appropriate." His lip curled into a smirk, which quickly faded to a subtle, thin smile. Dragons were mythical and, more often than not, depicted as rather violent creatures with short tempers. Either that, or they were strange things, wise and intelligent and full of wonder. He wondered which category he fell into, although he didn't entertain the thought for long.
Fixing a keen eye on Lucifer, he studied the boy for who-knew-what time. Every time he looked, it seemed, he was seeing a new stallion. Much, much different from the Lucifer he had met that night, now was someone who was much more upbeat and determined to find his way in life. No longer so confused and lost. It was nothing short of amazing, really.
As an offering of support, if Lucifer would be able to call it that, he extended a wing, running it down the length of Lucifer's back. With it followed words.
"It won't be difficult," he furled his wing back at his side. "To find that thing. I'd say just being friends with a kalona - when you, yourself, are not one - is one. But I take it you want something more... special. Fret not, you will find it."

Lucifer laughed and looked and Viraj , nudging him playfully to the side. "My whole life, i've been searching for things~ This time, I think i'll let that special thing come to me." He grinned and stared at the sun. It was more then done rising, the birds sang and glided across the sky, it was quite a sight by now, really.
Lucifer back tracked on the dragon subject. "It is appropriate indeed, just look at you! Your big and strong!" He nudged his wings. "And you can soar above all of the lands with these. "But... your smart and caring too, I've always seen dragons as care taker of the lands they live in, even though my mother used to think it weird of me to believe that a dragon whom smashed a village into pieces was merely protecting something." He shrugged. "Nature works in weird ways, I suppose~"

"Yes, sometimes it is best to let something come to you." He grunted lightly at the nudge, rolling his shoulder. "I have never met someone who was satisfied always being the one to chase something. It's good to get effort from both sides, yes?"
His voice took a more solemn edge, the older stallion considering the depth of Lucifer's reasoning. "Strange," he flexed his wings, "how you say that. So you do not believe that a dragon is always going to be a killing machine? Nor do you believe that it is always benevolent? Rather, something in between... heh. Hahaha!"
Shaking his head, he let the laughter die out. It felt good to laugh, he knew, although he didn't do it enough. From him, it almost sounded... foreign. "You are so surprising. So, so surprising... I can never tell what will come out of your mouth, kid." He flicked his tail at a flower, cutting it effectively at the stem. "And I suppose you believe what everyone else here believes, thus far. That it depends on the individual, and not the species? Personality, I mean."
Using his tail, he lifted the flower to his mouth, chewing on it for a bit.

Lucifer smiled. "Is it a good thing that i'm un-expected?" His laughter cut through Lucifer like a knife, throughout the whole night, he'd never had heard him laugh. He smiled.
"I'm a firm believe in that, besides... Skin Walkers, whom don't have a control over themselves because of the curse they hold, but they don't have a choice, I think your a good example of that though.. Just look at you, a strong and powerful Kalona, and yet... Your extremely wise and nice, not that it's a bad thing though."
Lucifer tilted his head at the sudden appearance of the flower, not knowing Kalona could do that with there tail.

Maybe out of embarrassment, or possibly of annoyance, Viraj tossed his head and rolled his eyes. "Somebody stop the pity train," he drawled, angling his head to make sure he couldn't see Lucifer through the corner of his eye. "I appreciate your words, Lucifer, but really, it's alright. You don't have to shower me in compliments."
He didn't mean to sound abrasive, although with those comments he may have come off so. As if to assure the other he meant no ill will, he let his tail curl gently around Lucifer's ankle, releasing it within seconds. He certainly didn't want to upset his first true companion, but he also wasn't the best at comforting others.
Thankfully, Lucifer seemed to be the type to take a bit of abuse here and there pretty well. Turning his head, he looked at the other expectantly, waiting to gauge his reaction.

Lucifer chuckled. "Pity, Viraj?" Lucifer took a step forward. "Don't kid yourself." He shook his head, his mane flopping side to side and then resting in the same position. "Give me a reason why I should pity you? I..." He stopped for a second. "I almost envy you Viraj..." He said softly.
He sighed. "Plus, your my friend.. my only friend, I don't pity you... I compliment you because it's what i feel in my heart, not because I believe you need a pick me up!"

He took Lucifer's movement - fluid, he noticed, the way he closed the gap between them - as an invitation to open up. Somehow, it seemed the interaction was becoming increasingly personal, and he vaguely wondered why he noticed that at all.
"Gods," he raised his brows. "Your only friend, am I? That doesn't sound right." While appreciating his honesty, Viraj couldn't help but dwell a bit on that statement. It couldn't possibly have been that difficult for Lucifer to make friends over the years; why, in one night he had made a friend in a kalona, although Viraj certainly hadn't been against the idea. He couldn't help but prod, wanting to know more.
"Tell me, how can that be? You're a friendly individual. I'd think you would have others falling all over you, what with your..." He gestured with a wing, trying to find his reasoning. "... good looks, calm disposition, clever nature. Not the social type, then?"
