"I'm sort of glad everything's been quiet. I don't really want to worry about things right now." Ghlyssa waved a hand at the room. "I like being able to sit here, and think, and have you around, and not have to worry about things. I'd like it like that. I don't think that's going to happen, though."

"I'd like it too. I guess we should make the most of it when we can," Riven grinned, kissing her again. "What smells good?" He looked around and sniffed, releasing the hug a bit.

"I think it's the cake Sunny's making... last I heard she was almost done it." Ghlyssa looked towards the door as Bronwen--again--comes running up the stairs.
Bronnie gasped for breath in the doorway, and managed to pant out, "Mum says... cake's... ready... and you can have some... and Riven can stay..." Message delivered, she trudged down the stairs again, exhausted.

"Hmm... that would explain it." Riven inhaled deeply, then leaned over and sniffed one of the flowers in Ghlyssa's hair. "Better than cake," he said, impishly, before floating over to the doorway.

Glee giggled and followed Riven down the stairs.
Sunny was setting the cake on the table--chocolate, with green icing, and a single candle alight in the centre. "Birthday girl, you sit there, Riven, you can sit next to her--oh, this is exciting."
Ray fumbles with the camera.

Riven obligingly moved to sit down, after pulling Ghlyssa's chair out for her, abruptly feeling a bit awkward. He felt almost like he was intruding on something private. "Um, I'm not in the way, am I?" he asked Sundragyn.

"'Course not," Sunny said shortly. "More the merrier. Birthdays are to be shared." She set the the cake down in front of Ghlyssa. Ray snapped a picture, looking amused.
"We get to sing now?" Bronnie asked.
"Yup."
Ghlyssa just looked embarrassed as the rooms broke into slightly off-key song.

Singing? What was this?! Riven opened his mouth, but nothing came out... he had no idea what to do. "Uh... happy birthday... yeah... uhmmm... dear Ghlyssa?" He stumbled over the words a good few seconds behind the others.

Singing done, everyone looked expectantly at Ghlyssa.
"You're supposed to blow the candle out," Bronwen supplied helpfully.
"Oh. Oh yeah." Ghlyssa did so.
