Simon sighed a bit. Yeah, he was a sissy... but he had BEE STINGS on half of his FACE. Those were sensitive! He wasn't about to protest though, and risk driving off honest help.
"There has to be tape or something holding this together, right?"
Oh, let it be tape. Please, let it be tape...

The coon-marked Audio continued to look until she found something somewhat shiny along the edge of the cardboard.
Positive: It was tape.
Negative: It was packing tape, which was unusually strong compared to the likes of scotch tape.
"...it looks like I need to do some cutting..." she mused aloud as she then pulled off her backpack. She began to dissect her supply-bag for something she used to sharpen her charcoal pencils with: a knife.

"C-c-c-cutting?" Simon squeaked, growing tense at the prospect along with feeling a bit more despair at the knowledge that that was what it was going to take to remove the collar. Chris had really intended for this to be hard to take of... and because of that, to stay on for a very long time.
He definitely felt lucky that he had run into the one girl on this island who had a knife handy, even if the whole thing was making him a bit nervous.
"Just be c-c-careful, alright?"

The knife itself didn't really seem like an art supply, but more like something one would use to stab someone with. Either way, the girl attempted to reassure her momentary companion with a simple "I do this sort of stuff at work all the time."
Carefully, she brought the knife up towards the back of the collar and delicately nicked at the edge of the tape. This sort of tape was hard to rip unless it already had a tear on it, and usually all one needed was to give it a small cut.
As long as this other camper remained still, he would be perfectly safe. When she finished making the small incision, she set the knife down. She once again put her paws up and this time began to move then in opposite directions to hopefully tear the collar apart.

It was reassuring enough. Simon was actually able to keep still for the procedure, squinting his eyes shut for the moment when he heard the knife first weasel a hole into tape, and then smoothly slip through it. He sighed a bit with relief knowing that this was one step closer to being rid of it.
The LARPer reached up and helped with the tugging, and after a few seconds the cardboard fell open, now only held to his face by the two pairs of hands working to get it off. Yessss, sweet freedom! And only a little embarassment in order to achieve it!
"Oh god, thank you SO MUCH!" he cried, elated that they'd been successful. "I really owe you for this."

With the whole ordeal now behind them, Lizzy simply began to start putting her materials back into her bag. The knife would have to get tucked down deep so that it wouldn't be a usual problem. She was still having a hard time understanding everything she was doing was caught on camera, so the public viewing world would see where she was putting her beloved sharp object.
"You're welcome," she uttered while she was sorting through her things. However, the mention of "owing" her for this made her blush slightly.
"No, no... don'tworryaboutit, itwasnothing!"

The fact that Lizzy possessed a knife wasn't bothering Simon in the slightest. It could have been bloodstained for all he cared, and he still would have regarded it as an instrument of salvation.
"No, no r-r-really!" he stammered back. "It wasn't n-nothing at all! You just saved me a lot of grief, I coulda been stuck in that thing for days! I can't just not make it up to you."

She packed up all her things, including her sketch pad. Now that she was here, there was another person and she didn't feel intimidated in the slightest by him. Her interest in drawing dwindled a bit. She glanced up at him for a moment. Aside from the dressings for his bee sting injuries, he was kind of cute.
"...tell me your name?" she asked. If he did this much, she'd attempt to claim that was his way of "making it up to her." She pushed her glasses up her nose as she awaited a response.

Simon adjusted his glasses too, being mindful of the tape that was holding them together. That was tape that could stay intact, thank you very much.
"O-oh, right! You probably need to know that, huh? It's Simon," he replied, looking more than happy to introduce himself. And he was, knowing that he wasn't the only awkward wreck around here! "How about yours?"

Taking a deep breath, she quickly spewed out a monster of a name in a tiny voice: "LizBobGeorgeNekoBakaWashuchan"
Her eyes fell to the ground for a moment before she then added her usual "...most people call me Lizzy though..." Her eyes lifted up again and noted the tape over the boy's glasses.
"...someone break your glasses?" she asked curiously.

"Lizzy it is, then," Simon grinned. He then realized that he was still holding the remains of that stupid collar, and casually tossed it behind him, where it would land in the water far below.
Adjusting his glasses again by reflex, he replied, "Oh, these? This actually happened a long time ago," he chuckled. "Before I got here, anyway. I was just glad they could still be used somehow, after it happened."

"Oh, didn't have enough money to get new glasses?" she asked before taking her own pair of glasses off.
"Mine aren't broken, but they got loose so now they slid down my face really easily. If I lean forward, they tend to fall off." She blinked a couple times before putting the glasses back on again.
Lizzy did notice the vagueness in the comment before asking "...after 'it' happened? What is it?"

"More like I didn't see a reason to," he explained sheepishly. "This prescription is still just fine, and... well, when I break them they usually end up a lot more broken."
Hmmming at Lizzy's own glasses, Simon suggested, "That shouldn't be too hard to fix. Just bend the handles inward a little and they'll stay put more easily."
As for what 'it' was? He grinned shyly and gave a dismissive wave. "Oh, it wasn't anything life-threatening. Don't worry about it."

She sighed slightly. "Easier said than done. Tried that several times, and it still doesn't fix the problem."
It was then she put a slight pout upon her lips. "Teeeeeell meeeeeeeeee!" she whined slightly in a rather obnoxiously cute and high pitched voice.

"Ah, that sucks. Maybe you can make a strap out of a spare shoelace or something, then."
Simon was easy to break. He... couldn't help but give in to that almost irritatingly cute voice, so he gave a sigh and started figuring out how to word it. It wasn't as if one more embarrasment was going to hurt her opinion of him very much, anyway. "Well... er..."
Knowing Simon and his LARPing ways the tale could have been a lot more interesting, but it ran thusly:
"I went into the bathroom in the middle of the night and set them on the counter... and because I was so sleepy I thought I'd lost them, and while looking for them I knocked them on the floor. When I found them, well... they were broken in half under my foot."
