Rhian didn't hear Lauss' first question, luckily enough for the other proto, but she did hear his second one. She nodded, her expression dripping with frustration. "Yes, yes, all the time. I'm not good enough at my purpose now, not at all; I ant to grow so maybe I'll be better at it." Had she found an Essentic in a situation like hers, somewhat? She wanted to grow so very desperately, did Lauss too?
Ellandra managed to smile at Lee, albeit it was somewhat of a weak one. "Well, there's not really much that can be done. I just have to wait until it passes, that's all." And a long, torturous wait it was, too. But these had been happening often enough that she was, sadly, beginning to get used to them, and would much rather continue her visit with Lee and Luss in favor of shooing the girl and her essentic off just so she could lie down and hope to fall asleep until it was gone.

Lauss just stared at the other, unsure what to say. That was exactly what he was thinking, to the word. He lifted himself a bit closer to the other, his tail flicking slightly as he began to speak. "Miss Rhian...? You feel that way as well?" Finally, somebody saw where he was coming from. "We have to learn how to grow faster." He nodded to the butterfly, hoping she was still following his train of thought. He needed to be an alter. It was so frustrating, not being able to do his purpose as well as he wanted to. In reality, he didn't need to know how emotions to do his job efficiently, but he wanted to so badly.
Lee looked down at her lap once more. This wasn't turning out to be a pleasant visit. Poor Ellandra. Nothing was going well for her today, was it? Or so it seemed to Lee. How to take her mind off of all this... let's see... "Have you guys been preparing for the babies yet? Have you picked out some names?" Baby talk should make her a little happier, shouldn't it?

"Yes, yes we do," Rhian said, completely agreeing with her fellow proto. "Sibling-Zi knows so much, and is so good at its purpose - I want to be alter soon so that I won't mess up so much, so tha I'll get better at helping Ellandra and Ellandra-husband! Do you want to try to find out how to grow faster together, Lauss? I could use some help, I think." She'd never expected to meet another Essentic who had a problem like hers, maybe together they could solve it?
Ellandra shook her head a little. "Not really, no - but I've been looking at a few books on the culture of Farstep, I thought maybe I could find some names for the babies from there," she sad, gesturing to a few books sitting on the bookshelf.

Lauss nodded happily. You understand so well, Rhian. "Miss Rhian, perhaps we'll meet someone would can tell us. Or perhaps there is a book on how to grow faster. I've been looking, but have not found one yet. If you do, you must tell me." Was this really all they'd be able to do? Talk about how much they wanted to be alters? Not very productive. "...Miss Rhian, do you think you'll grow before me?"
"This place must be pretty old for there to be books on it..." She stood up to go to the bookshelf when she remembered something from a bit ago. "Oh! Misha told me you had a cat? Can I see it?" Kitties! How could that not lift her spirits? She remembered how cats' purrs are supposed to help heal things; perhaps it could help with a head ache? Lee didn't think that just because she was in love with small fluffy creatures didn't mean Ellandra would be.

"IfI dfind someone, I'll tell you. Sibling-Zi just says it will happen when i'm ready, it doesn't get that I want it to happen now!" Rhian twitched her antennae thoughtfully, thinking for a few moments in response to Lauss' newest question. "I...... don't think so. You're older than me, right? So I think you'll grow before I do."
"Rags? Hmm, yes, he's around here somewhe -" As if on cue, the little grey cat lept up onto the table, then off of it, strolling around until he reached Lee and began winding himself around her legs, greeting her with a friendly "Mrowr?" and a great deal of purring. Ellandra smiled. Silly cat. "Oh, there he is."

Lauss nodded. She understood, almost too well. "That's what others have said to me, as well. Miss Rhian, we should grow at the same time. It seems more just that way. We should both be able to be better at our purposes at the same time." Lauss couldn't think of why it was fair, but perhaps on some level he knew she was wanting to get better at her purpose for Ellandra's sake, while he was only wanting to be better it because it bothered him that he didn't know something. Lauss couldn't put this reasoning behind his want for it, he just knew that she probably deserved to grow before he did.
Lee's eyes widened with delight and she reached down to pet the kitty at her ankles. ... So adorable. "Can I hold him?" Lee forgot all about the book for searching baby names and knelt down to pet Rags. Nice kitty.

Rhian tilted her head and flicked her antennae. "It would be nice to grow at the same time, but I still think you'll grow first," she said, her tone completely certain. Lauss would grow first, because he was older. She had to wait, no matter how much it bothered her to do so.
Ellandra nodded, a smile spreading across her face. "Of course you can. That cat loves everyone, I think;; I've even seen him visiting Rosco the baboon sometimes."

Lauss sat on the floor again, flicking his tail lightly. "I will try to wait for you." He didn't know how he would be able to control such a thing, but he would try. His tail started to flick a bit more as he thought on, and it accidentally bumped a shelf next to him. A ballerina doll came crashing down in front of him, and with the impact started moving, twirling around in place... it looked a bit like it was dancing. Lauss didn't jump back like anything with even a small sense of shock would have, and instead crept a bit closer to examine it. "Miss Rhian, is this magic?" He was clearly fascinated with the object, ready to poke and prod at it a bit, but never was able to as it continued to spin merrily. He didn't think to apologize for potentially breaking anything of value or meaning to the other proto, and simply stared at it, watching it spin in its circles.
Lee held out her hands to grab Rags, pulling him up to her chest. She nearly dropped him, though, when she heard the name "Rosco." "M-my puppy's name is Rosco!" Coincidence much? Lee continued to scratch the cat's head as she stepped back over to Ellandra, happy to see her smiling again. See? Kitties made everyone happy. "You should see him sometime soon, he won't be tiny for a lot longer. He already grew a little, and we've only had him like... I dunno, a few weeks?" Prior to Rosco, she'd never been an animal person. But when she got a hold on her own, it was a completely different story; it seemed like she could jabber on about puppies all day.

Rhian flicked her antennae, fluttering down to perch on Lauss' arm - their sizes weren't all that different, but Rhian hardly weighed a thing, so there was no problem. "You don't have to wait, but thank you, lauss," Rhian said, watching as her doll came down and started to dance. "Oh, that's just Spin-spin! She used to be a wind-up doll with a key, but Orphy sang a song and now she just dances without needing wound up - have you met Orphy, Lauss?"
Ellandra blinked. "Really? well that's interesting. Though I don't think you'd want to meet rosco the baboon, he's rather moody when he hasn' had his coffee," she said, smiling at Lee. "I'd very much like to see your Rosco sometime, though; what type of dog is he?" Ah, now this was better. Lee wasn't feeling so awkward any more, and this was good for both ellandra and her guest. Now if only this headache would go away. . .

Lauss listened to Rhian, but kept his eyes on "Spin-Spin". "Miss Spin-spin looks very nice. I enjoy her colors, don't you Miss Rhian?" She was cute, was what he was trying to say. Why didn't Lee have cute things around her room? Rosco was really the only cute thing around the house. Too bad. "Orphy? I do not believe I have..." Another essentic, perhaps? He was too enamored by the doll in front of him to give it too much thought though. Perhaps he would meet "Orphy" later, perhaps not.
A coffee drinking baboon? Lee gave Ellandra a strange look before returning her attention back to the kitty and sitting in the seat she'd been in before. "Um... I don't really know. Have you met Kell, Eli's dog?" She couldn't think of Eli's last name at the moment; that was what Lauss was for, but he seemed a bit excited in the other room. "Well, he's black and brown, and he's really cute. And I think he's gonna get really big." Please meet him, Ellandra. Lee loved to show off her little puppy, even if he was more Lauss' dog than hers. Too excited about talking about puppies, Lee hadn't noticed Ellandra was still having headache troubles.

Rhian nodded. "Yes, yes, Spin-Spin has very pretty colors. I wish I could look like her when I grow. I like her very much!" So he hadn't met Orphy? Had sad, he definitely needed to. "Orphy's very nice, he sings and I guess some of his songs are magic because of what happened with Spin-Spin." She went silent then, content to watch the spinning doll, perched on Lauss' arm.
Ellandra saw the look Lee gave her and laughed. "I know, I know, it sounds insane but he really does drink coffee. And he wears a fez. I'm surprised you haven't seen him yet actually, he wanders around all the time." She paused for a moment and rubbed at her had - it still hurt, ouch - and continued, "He sounds like a very nice puppy, Lee, I'm sure he'll grow up into a fine dog."

Lauss looked from Rhian to the spinning doll and back. "You already resemble her slightly." Colors matched. The dress looked a bit like her wings. He hadn't noticed before, but... "Miss Rhian, you have pleasant wing." he nodded to himself as he admired both the doll and, now, Rhian's wings.
He should meet this Orhpy, sounded quite interesting. Perhaps he could learn a thing or two from him. "Where would I meet him?" He tilted his head, though he still looked upon the dancing doll. He could see why Rhian liked it so much.
Lee blinked a few times before assuming it was some kind of joke. A joke she didn't get. A small smile, to show she appreciated the effort. Aw, head still hurt? Puppy talk wasn't much good then. Neither was joking, apparently. "M-maybe going outside would be good for your head ache? Like, getting fresh air and stuff..."

Rhian tilted her head, then fluttered said wings slightly, her antennae flicking. "Thank you, Lauus..... Lauss-teacher!" Because he taught, didn't he? So Lauss-teacher it was! "They're no fun when they get wet though, they get all heavy and I can't move." She paused and flicked her antennae again. "Orphy? I met him at the flower-place where Aoi-flower lives! You should get your Miss Lee to take you there, it's very nice."
Ellandra shook her head. "No, no, nothing really helps. Conversation is nice, though. why don't you tell me some more about your Rosco, hmm? He sounds like a wonderful puppy."

Lauss-Teacher? He liked it. Made him sound professional. Or at least semi-respected. "Wings do not sound pleasant." Lauss flicked his tail, happy to know that he didn't have to rely on wings. Then again, he couldn't go as high as she could. How strange that the parts of Rhian that Lauss enjoyed were the things she disliked, and vice-versa. He loved her wings, she loved her antennae. And yet they got along so well, anyway. "The flower place? Aoi?" These things did not sound familiar. But perhaps Lee would know if he asked her later. "I will try to meet him." He nodded to her, and the doll in front of them started to wind down. The dance was ending, and Lauss picked "Spin-spin" up and set her where she belonged. "I hope Miss Rhian looks like her when we grow," he mentioned as an after thought. He was still determined to both grow at the same time, whether Rhian liked it or not.
"...Okay." Talk more about the puppy, that shouldn't be too hard. Let's see... What haven't we mentioned already? "Um... Well, he likes to sleep a lot. When I first picked him up--" Wait, there's something to talk about. "Oh my god, Ellandra, I have to tell you!" This is some good gossip, so listen up. Lee was definitely excited, but certainly not happy. "When I was at Eli's getting Rosco, Lauss and Uzi -- I dunno if you've met Uzi, she's like, this big lion essentic. She's all orange and-- nevermind. At Eli's, Lauss and Uzi were gonna go hunting!" She paused for slight dramatic effect, and to give Ellandra the chance to interject if she so felt like it. All the time, Lee was using hand gestures and really getting into her story, thinking Ellandra was just as interested as she was. "We walked in on him holding a gun and loading it. Seriously, what wouldda happened if we didn't get there in time?" Questions and comments come now. Lee was still very much upset with her little proto for that incident, and had given him an earful on the ride home and all the rest of the week. That boy... something had better come along and keep him from killing himself or someone around him.

"They're useful now, except when I get wet," Rhian said, glancing at the bright colored fluttery things. "But sibling-Zi and Misha-fluffy have legs to run, so I don't think wings that make you sink are useful compared to that." She paused for a moment to watch Lauss put Spin-Spin away, and nodded. "Yes, the flower place. I think you'd like it, there's many kinds of flowers, and Aoi-flower helps them to grow and even change colors!" Again, she paused and gazed at the ballerina doll, a wistful look appearing on her face. "Looking like her would be nice, but I'd like to be graceful, to - I crash into stuff a lot." She exaggerated a bit, of course, but the butterfly did tend to be a bit on the clumsy side.
Ellandra gasped, a hand flying to her mouth in surprise. She knew Lauss' naivete could be dangerous, but to try and handle a gun? "O-oh, oh my, no, I haven't met Uzi yet, but - my goodness, I hope Lauss starts developing a sense of danger at some point," Ellandra said, her eyes wide with surprise - and a bit of fear for the little proto, too. "Otherwise he's going to get seriously hurt, or someone else hurt. . ." Really, Lauss? This was rather extreme risk, even for you, silly, sweet little thing!
