Narcissus wasn't sure if that was the fish he saw getting away or not. He sighed and got up shaking his fur out a little bit before closing his eyes leaving his work. He paused for a second and finally wading into the cold, rushing water beside her. Looking for where the fish had gone before nuzzling against her for a second.
He was trying to block a bit of force to keep her from getting swept away. "The help part... I was just wondering if you needed a larger body to block some of the water while trying to get that really impressive fish out of the water."
His tail flickers as he looked at the currents which could likely sweep him from his feet as well. And he chuckled slightly, "That was a very impressive catch." He shifted pondering to sit down in the river and saw a few Minos fighting the current.
"Even thought it got away, nasty little bugger trashing you like that, it's much better, and much larger than what I'd normally go after." After a second he plucked one of the Minos from the river holding it up. "Ehh something about this size, I think, is what I normally catch.... maybe a bit larger if I'm lucky...."
He grinned, "So even if that one got away, you still got a piece of him."
He looked back towards the shore, "And you've impressed me as well. Every hunter loses a catch now and then. Even the best of the best because of something the catch decided to do."
He rolled his shoulders softly as he skinned the Minos and nibbled on it. Still tail flickering before giving her cheek a lick, "Man this water's cold!" He mused for a second before nudging her, "Wanna do it again? This time with a big lug sitting in the river so you might have an easier time moving back to shore with the fish?"
His tail flickered, oh how he hated getting wet, but he wanted to do something useful if Hime felt that she was up to another round. He licked her cheek softly smiling at her, "If nothing else know I believe you can do it.... just like I don't like getting wet, and look! Here I am beside you... in a river.... getting my fur soaking wet..."
His ears were perched precariously in his mane, one twitching slightly, as he looked at her with a questioning look. "Heck, if nothing else you're braver than me! Wading out here, not scared to get wet, and catching that thing, all while fighting this current."

Soft, mismatched gaze could only stare in wide-eyed horror at the currents where her prey had snaked off. Its shadow having long since disappeared as the water pushed the catfish quickly along the canal and made its escape all the more unavoidable. Himeru could hear nothing but the rush of water in her flattened ears, limbs trembling with exhaustion though she could feel nothing but the contradicting thunder of chilled water over her lithe frame and the scalding brand of shame and failure.
She still wasn't sure how this situation had come to such a disastrous end as despite how it all seemed to occur in slow motion the little leopardess had been completely powerless to stop it. She hadn't even realized Narcissus had joined her in the river until his touch brushed her wet fur, causing her to start so hard that her heart nearly leapt from her chest.
She had failed him. Unable to back up her claim that she was indeed a good fisher, perhaps because what she had thought was the truth was only really a false preconception. Yet he stood there beside her attempting to comfort her as if she were worth something. Despite the fact that she couldn't hear his comforting words with Hime's glaring incompetence drowning out her better senses, the dark leopon's effort didn't go unnoticed as her cheek was licked. He'd even soiled and drenched his dry and tidy fur, just for her. All for a pathetic whelp for she who couldn't even accomplish her claims. She who was little more than a fraud.
Staring at him as he spoke, her eyes brimmed with tears, hazing over before they began to fall quickly blurring her vision as they flooded along the cream colored path upon her face. Features holding sorrow and fear and disappointment as she gazed up at Nac. Unsurprisingly she found herself unable to meet his kind gaze. Undeserving of such genuine concern as quivering jaw and broken sobs made her speech difficult to decipher. I-I'm s-sor.. sorry. S-s-soo. So sor-rr-reee! G-godda.. goddaway! An... annai.. nai m-made.. made you all, all w-weet! All wet!
S-Sorry! Sor-r-rr-ree! Flushed with embarrassment and mortification the tiny female was quick to shrink from comforting touch she felt unworthy of. Recoiling back up the river bank and though she wanted to collapse, wither and die right there in the middle of the jungle, Himeru forced herself to spin away and run as quickly as shaking limbs would carry her, tail curled between her legs. Claws scraping at the bark of the nearest tree as she scrambled into the branches and darted for the distance, certain that she could never show her face to the gentle leopon ever again.

Narcissus watched her run off and sighed as crawled out of the river himself shaking from his fur the water. He didn't even get to say it was quite fine.
He sighed as he sat alone again. "It was still nice to meet you.... I hope to see you again!" He called as loud as he could ears pinning slightly sadly as he worked on his pelt halfway wondering what to do now, since one of the few pretty females he'd met since he got back ran away 'cause of some stupid fish.
