Dorian raised an eyebrow at Verdant's comment about liking long hair, and absentmindedly started twisting a few tendrils of his own hair around his finger in thought. Hm. So there were different KINDS of nymphs? He'd never had much to do with nymphs before now, so the entire concept was new to him, as was Verdant himself. Watching Orpheus in the sugar, he smiled, wondering if this was what it felt like to watch after troublesome children. Probably. It was a warm feeling though.....Marianna would've loved the atmosphere of the---he flinched and his eyes got suddenly cold. No. He wouldn't mix her with this life. This new chapter was a chapter of begginings, not a continuation of what had been before. He'd never hurt Marius that way.....the way he'd hurt Claudia before. Though truthfully, he only remembered the one time and only because he'd seen it on the security camera's of work, since he'd had to almost completely remake Claudia's body because of his actions. He shivered ever so slightly and tried to pull a fake smile to Verdant with a nod, but it didn't quite reach his eyes, eyes that were still cold and distant.

Turning to the flowers, he sighed and brushed his fingertips over a white carnation, her favorites. They had to get out of the house if he was going to keep thinking like this. Taking Verdant back out to Ellie, he smiled at how Marius was still dutifully keeping watch, and patted the proto on the head.

"If you'd like to do something else, Ellie, we can. But if we're going to go anywhere we'll need to go soon. Besides, I'm sure our little darlings would LOVE to cause trouble without us here," he chuckled, but it was an almost fake sound to his and Marius's ears. Most people didn't hear Dori's real laugh, and that wasn't changing right now. Everything was such a mask. Marius looked up to Dorian with concern, but only got another pat on the head for his trouble.

Already feeling significantly better from the nausea pills - and perhaps the stillness she'd had for a short time - Ellandra rose to her feet and offered a timid smile to her -apparently shopping- companions. "I'm all right to go now, if you wish," she said quietly, smiling warmly at Marius for his help, the sweet little fellow. Looking over to the kitchen doorway, where Rhian had only now come out, sprinkling sugar everywhere, the brunette dropped her head int her hands and sighed.

"You . . . might want to hide away anything that's breakable, Dr. Cromwell. . ."

Verdant smiled back at Dorian once more before blushing deeply as he came to a realization; he felt... much less lonely when he was around Dorian. He made him smile, sincerely smile, and that was something he'd been doing less and less as of late. Well, he had all day to be with him and Ellandra; the three of them were sure to enjoy themselves.

The nymph followed Dorian back to Ellandra, that warm smile still plastered on his face. It quickly disappeared when Dorian spoke. "Yeah, don't give him any ideas. There's a reason I don't have any glass cups at home, right, Orpheus?" The little wyvern had managed to break each and every piece of glass in the apartment- how it happened was a mystery to Verdant, but he knew it was Orpheus because he apologized after the nymph caught him trying to dump piles of crystal into the trash can in the kitchen.

Orpheus stuck his tongue out at his older brother before attempting to lick all the sugar off of himself. It was proving to be very difficult, mostly because all the sugar was on his face and his tongue wasn't quite long enough.

Dorian chuckled, shaking his head. He trusted Marius to be the man of the house, and if anything got really out of hand, Marius would call, or handle it himself. He was a very smart little fellow despite his natural sweet disposition, and he could be sharp as a whip when he wanted to be in a conversation. Not to mention that uncanny grace and agility he seemed to possess. Marius truly was a wonder, and Dorian didn't know how he'd ever lived without him.

"I'm sure Mari will be able to hold down the fort here, he's very responsible, and good at keeping others out of too much trouble, so he'll be able to handle Orpheus and Rhian. Besides, I know he likes the two of them already or he wouldn't be so eager to help us on our way. I suppose he wants alone time as much as anyone else, eh?" he laughed, ruffling the top of Marius's head, to which Marius just smiled and nuzzled into it more like a pet than a proto, and his ear/hair pieces twitched happily as his little base swayed back and forth gently. He loved getting positive attention from Dorian. It meant Dori was happy, and that in turn made Marius extremely happy. Though he had to admit, he did want to know more about Orpheus his self-proclaimed 'brother', and Miss Rhian. She was sooooo incredibly pretty, and he found himself staring at her more than what was appropriate of a first meeting.

Dusting some imaginary dirt off his shoulder, Dorian smiled and whisked up Ellandra, leading her towards the door and grabbing his wallet on the way out, stuffing it in his back pocket. Offering his other arm to Verdant, he looked back and smiled at the proto's.

"You know what to do if you need us, Mari. Be good, and have fun with one another! Maybe you should take them to the building's penthouse garden, Marius. I'm sure they'd love it up there!" he chirupped, leading Ellie and Ver out the door and closing the apartment behind him. Finally the proto's were alone, and the trio of new friends were on their way for a day of glorious shopping.

[[At this point, the three of them are now seperated from their Proto's. :3 If anyone wants to set up another thread for the proto's that's fine, or if you just wanna cut your posts in half and be half with the proto's, half with the owners in one post here that's fine too. :3 ]]

Ellandra squeaked as she was led out the door, caught a bit by surprise at Dr. Cromwell's sudden actions. But mostly, she was silent and just let herself be whisked along - after all, it was a nice day, and she had nothing to complain about. Especially not now that her nausea was nearly nonexistant. Even though she'd had absolutely no idea abut the shopping part of this expedition, she couldn't deny that it did sound rather . . . pleasant. As long as the two men she was shopping with didn't ry to alter her wardrobe too drastically, anyway.

She couldn't see herself wearing anything like what either of them wore.

Ever.

Also, the brunette was a bit worried about leaving the three little protos all on their own, but, if Dr. Cromwell said it was all right, then it probably would be. "So, um . . .where are we going, exactly?"

Verdant anxiously looked back at Orpheus, but then turned his gaze to Marius. Yes, they’d be just fine with Marius around. Perhaps it was just because they’d never been separated for so long that his stomach was feeling a little uneasy. Oh, well. No point in stifling your child or Essentic, right? Best to just let him enjoy his playdate with the others.

The nereid rummaged through his messenger bag and placed Orpheus’ copy of Emo Monthly, a very old CD player, and a few of Orpheus’ CDs on the table before slipping the bag back on and taking hold of Dorian’s arm… perhaps a little to affectionately, but whatever, they were friends, they should totally be affectionate, right? Right? Whatever; they were going shopping, not on a date, so everything would totally be cool. Plus, he was curious as to how drastic a change he could make to Ellandra’s wardrobe; she’d thank him later, he was sure of it.

“Have fun, Orpheus, and don’t trash the place, eat soap, or otherwise raise Hell, ‘kay? ‘Bye!” Orpheus replied with a sarcastic little “Hmph!” before the door closed.

And now the epic shopping trip was underway! Although he did feel a bit flusted on the inside that Verdant had so willingly leaped onto his arm pretty much, holding onto it as if he was hanging onto Dori for dear life. Ellandra was a little more sedate, holding onto his arm loosely, more like a content bystander's hold than a vicegrip. He was a bit jittery leaving Marius alone with the two other proto's, but figured that he was more than responsible enough for all three of them, he just hoped Orpheus didn't disturb Claudia or something like that. She'd been so odd lately.

Walking Ver and Ellie to the elevator and taking them downstairs, he led them out onto the street and down various roads happily, his hair swishing with the movement and light spring in his step. He was content just to lead them to their destination, but he wanted to chat too, that was to be expected. Dorian couldn't keep his mouth shut for more than ten minutes and that was up riiiiiiiiight aboooooout..........

"SO! Ellie, you're obviously married, what's your husband like? What does he do? Do you have a doctor for the babies already, or would you like to pop in every once in a while for check ups? The lab I work at has a clinic on the lower floors...........AND VERDANT. Where do YOU work darling? Or are you working exclusively on music right now? I'm sure that must be fun with someone as lively as Orpheus around, hm?" he chattered on, meeting his usual time limit.

Ellandra blinked, surprised and overwhelmed by the sudden rush of questions from Dr. Cromwell. She nearl tripped before steadying herself, blushing in embarrassment at being put on the spot so suddenly. "Faolan? He' swonderful, nearly my exact opposite, there's - there's no way to describe him, really, you would just need to meet him; he's the fortune teller at Farstep Carnival. . ."

Before she could even begin to try answering his other questions, the doctor had already moved on to questioning Verdant. Oh well, it took the spotlight off of her, and while she felt a bit more like a bystander than an equal companion, it was a lot easier to travel this way than to have to worry about finding answers for so many curious questions at once. Her thoughts turning inward, her mind drifted back to the apartment. What exactly could thse little protos get into back there? She hoped nothing serious. . .

Verdant chuckled as Dorian's chatty side emerged again; he had just been thinking that it was very quiet, despite the hustle and bustle of the people roaming the streets, each person needing to go somewhere or nowhere. Maybe it was the nectar talking, but he felt today would be a great day! He was in the company of his best girl friend (and her nausea-inducing bundles of joy) and Dorian... yes, Verdant was especially happy to be in his company; to be seen with such a handsome, intelligent... sexy... delicious man...

"Oh! What? Sorry, I was just... er, well, I work at Elysian Gardens, the nursery on the outskirts of the city. It's a beautiful place, not too far from where I live. My boss and his son are amazing; I couldn't have asked for better employers or friends. I still sing and play at different little nightclubs and bars, not really sure I want to mainstream myself. And Orpheus is a bundle of fun, always saying something funny or cute; it's hard to practice when you start laughing half-way through the song." The nereid certainly hoped that Dorian nor Ellandra could see how flushed his face was; where had that damn thought come from anyways? He was lucky not to have dwelled on it for too long or else he'd be walking with a limp...

Dorian almost purred with pleasure as his questions were answered, and began to formulate information he could give about himself. If he'd asked he sure as well be able to answer back. Couldn't be a one-sided conversation, now could it? He wouldn't reveal a few more personal items of interest until later on, because well.....who would want to hear something as depressing as a long-dead wife in casual conversation? No, he'd wait until they asked about it, since he had his wedding band on his left pinky finger today, a simple tarnished little thing, a little worn from being twisted and turned by its jittery owner. He was delighted to hear about their lives though, even if he did feel he and Verdant were stealing the conversation away from Ellie. She didn't LOOK like she minded, but you could never tell with women really, that had been his greatest folly in the past, after all. BUT! THIS WAS DORIAN SHARING HOUR NOW, not depressing-thoughts hour.

"You're both so interesting, such different lives, it would appear! Now MY life isn't much really, but it's nothing to sneeze at either in any respect. At least I love my work right? Oh, but I should tell you what my work is shouldn't I? I work at a bioenginering lab, specifically the labs that deal with artificial organs, nervous systems, trying to extend the human lifespan by remaking parts of the body that don't function like they should anymore! It's fascinating really, trying to figure out what works best and what doesn't, and what wears out......oh! That leads me to my daughter actually, she's really an android of sorts, though I've been tinkering with her AI system lately with great success though she has been a bit tickky here and there. ANYWAYS, Claudia is primarily used as a project dummy of sorts, since she's an android and doesn't have real life patterns besides her AI system, she's really just a toaster that talks, we test out new organs and substitutes on her to make sure they work properly since she can't really die unless her entire frame and AI system give out at the same time and her model's discontinued," he babbled on, getting more and more excited as he spoke of his work. No one could say he wasn't a workaholic, and that he wasn't dedicated. His face softened as he talked about Claudia though, even when calling her a toaster, he did it with blatant affection in his voice, looking between the pair he smiled awkwardly.

"Sorry for all the overflow of input, but I didn't want you to be surprised if Orpheus or Rhian asked you odd questions about her. Marius already knows since he's my assistant and confidante, so he wouldn't think twice about it anymore. Other than work though I don't get out as much as I used to, which really is a shame for the world population, don't you think? Perhaps I could make a point to come visit the pair of you at your respective home and work places. I wouldn't mind going to the Farstep Carnival, I've never been though I've heard many entertaining and intriguing things about it. Besides, our three little ones were practically gotten at the same time, they're roughly the same age I suppose so I see no reason to cut Marius off from your protos or any of you delightful people. An lord knows I need to socialize better.....I swear, you give someone a mega-dose sleepytime injection in public ONE TIME an everyone looks at you funny, even if said person WAS being a slimy jerk on the bus to a pleasant young lady," he quipped cheerfully, talking about such things with varying interest and enthusiasam, and acting as if he was talking about the weather near the end. Ah, how sweet ignorance was to the depth of his depravity.

He made a mental note not to chase off these friends with his......eccentric tendencies, this time. He quite liked the pair and wished to meet more people because of them. Not to mention it wasn't right for a creature of Marius's wit and wile to sit idle and not socialize, the poor thing was shy and quiet enough already he didn't need another crutch. Or perhaps he was just contemplating the world around him constantly? Dorian couldn't really tell, since Marius wouldn't say. That, and in the selfish part of him, he'd like people he could go out with without having to shag one night and have an awkward day of cold shouldering someone at work in the morning. It was just more fun when you could be with someone just because you were friends. As he thought of this he hummed happily, waiting for more questions or conversation to ensue as he guided them along down the street and let go of their arms momentarily to trot ahead and open the door for them to the little shop. He might be a little crazy, but he was still a well-bred gentleman.

And so their adventure into the Trashy Diva began.

Ellandr tilted her head, simply listening to Dorian's speeh and nodding at appropriate times. She supposed she ought to understand more of his work descriptio than she did, but truthfully she was really only half paying attention at the moment. She was focused far more on the children within her womb and what they might be like when they grew up. They were still such tiny little things, incapable of surviving without her. . . but it wouldn't be all that long before they entered the world, and not much longer after that before they started growing up, and forming personalities. . . what would they be like then? For that matter, what would they look like? A soft "Hmm..." escaped her mouth as she idly pressed a hand to her belly while she thought. She noticed neither the noise nor the action, so lost in her thoughts was she.

Verdant smiled and listened to Dorian intentley, even if he only caught (and understood) a few things he was saying. He got the gist of what he said; he worked on artficial organs and stuff like that, right? Claudia, apparently, was a... toaster with feelings? Perhaps Verdant wasn't paying quite as much attention as he thought... Well, he could always just ask questions later, especially since Dorian wasn't done talking and the last thing he wanted to do was interrupt him.

When Dorian had finished talking, Verdant took the opportunity to ask a few questions that weren't related to Dorian's work- not that he wasn't intrigued, but he was sure that even if Dorian tried to explain it again, Verdant still wouldn't get it. So, other questions were in order- BUT! Verdant had taken too long to think up his questions and now found himself in front of a small shop; Dorian opened up the door for them too, what a gentleman! He tapped Ellandra lightly on her shoulder, noticing she was a little spacey; she didn't seem bored though, just pensive. Oh well.
