Yay, confusion! Ah, I love confusing stories. And really-sudden-plot-twists-that-you-just-weren't-expecting *cough* Eldest *cough* (even if I do hate them at the same time).

Ah, I'm sort of being reminded of Adelaide, (or Lai, even if Aqil refuses to shorten her name) another character of mine. She adores one of the cubs, Haru, and I mean absolutely ADORES him. And she worries about him all the time. And then he's used as a tool to get to Lai and, through her, the other Lunar Wolves, because Lai has a really fierce temper and everyone has to agree with her once she's angry unless they want to get seriously hurt. But she isn't like a double agent. She just loves Haru to bits.

Ah, but she isn't one of my particular favourites. In 'When Life Ends', (must choose which one to write ^-^;; ) the main character, Jack, is a little favourite of mine. Unfortunately, he dies in Chapter Three (gosh, I hate myself for doing that). But then the main story is about what happens in the Afterlife. But I still hate all the horrible things I've done to him; he's been homeless since he was five, never knew his parents, the closest person he had to a mother died when he was five, he goes to Hell just because he had to steal to get food and then he gets bullied by all the other Demons.

Oh, I do hate myself for doing all that to him. And killing him was really hard crying

I'm trying out something with my characters, and I would like feedback if such an idea is recommended or not.

There are two parts to my book: the first part revolves entirely about the actions and thoughts of Saeten Zanpychii, and my purpose in doing so is for two reasons. Firstly, I want the reader to understand her point of view, thought process, and typical course of actions in response to a situation. Secondly, I want the reader to be able to recognize her as a true person, so in appearing in the second part completely changed in mentality and body (being, after all, set three to four years after the events in part one) he/she can wonder on Saeten's true identity.

In the first part, generally close to the beginning, she meets people briefly that the reader feels are only side characters, but are later reintroduced and expanded upon as main characters in part two. Most particularly Ken Koitsu, who will, essentially, be replacing Saeten as the story's main protagonist. I want there to be some form of debate on whether Saeten or Ken is the real hero. Saeten performs most of the difficult labor in her part, solving numerous problems and getting closer to the antagonist than anyone else albeit at her own risk; however, Ken becomes the 'hero' for actually destroying the enemy at the end, albeit accidently, and is thus falsely labeled.

This is as far as I've planned on the subject, but a little advice from anyone would go a long way. If this is a good idea, or otherwise and is not suggested, then please say so.

I think it sounds interesting. It would be even more interesting (If Saeten is not dead by this point) to have some sort of scene where she and Ken essentially argue/debate/kick the s**t out of each other/some other form of aggressive behavior over that he stole her thunder. Maybe even he doesn't like being falsely labeled, I don't know. But I think it sounds like a good concept.

I've got quite a couple of characters, most so far (as of Ch. 12 in my novel) have shown up once and have yet to appear again except in Gabe's[my favorite] dreams. Gabe I especially feel attached to, and I could never kill him off [nor Kale]. They're too important to the story.

Anyway, before the beginning of my novel, Gabe's greatest rival, Isaac, dies and Gabe always felt that it was his fault (they were really close friends). Then IN the beginning of my book, Kale comes along and he looks almost exactly like Isaac, so throughout the book, Gabe is always fighting, pestering, but occasionally caring for Kale because he thinks of Isaac when he sees him.

Right now, I'm only planning on killing two more [important/relevant] characters, 4 at best.

However, my biggest concern is whether or not I want to kill off either Torren or Tobias, who are Gabe's good friends. I was feeling that whoever does die, Kale could fill in the gap but I would be devastated to kill one of them (though if for the sake of the plot, I wouldn't hesitate).

So should I kill off one of them or let them live? My original plan was to have Kale leave original trio and stay with Thia or Eno, but if I kill off Torren or Tobias, then there will be only a duo and it practically HAS to be a trio.

:(

You did say practically. Maybe you could do it in the climax for drama, so then Gale would probably be going through emotional turmoil at the worst possible moment. And then, I don't know, they could somehow still overcome the antagonist? I don't really know anything about the plot, so that might not work. But I'd do it then. Oh well...

Hypno; that would make a really cool story. I'd read something similar, if it was written well. You'll have to share some of your work sometimes; it sounds like you have some really good ideas. Without any descendants, that would make it all the more exciting: could these people still beable to defeat the villian? whee Sorry, you've got me excited. If I were you, I'd start writing without a clue where I'm going. But that's just what I do; nasty habit of mine. And then I suddenly sprout new ideas and my writing becomes a huge messy tangle with no clue where it's going... sorry, sorry, ignore my rambling sweatdrop

Thanks Vaporeae!
I suppose yer right about the "sharing" thing but I don't know if I'm ready for that yet. sweatdrop
Thanks for saying that too! I guess as writers we all need someone to tell us that at one point or another, huh?
I'm glad something good came out of my idea, you shouldn't apologize for getting excited. I suppose the scenario I proposed could be taken in different ways by different writers. I mean, if you want the characters to be able to defeat a villain that is way more powerful than they are then you should be able to come up with a reasonable way for them to do so. You could always have them fail as well and see what happens from there. It all depends on yer imagination I guess, he-he. wink

I have many characters, and five parts. One part is like a separate story, but in the last part, they all come together, to make a full novel. Some characters in each part survive till the last part, but the main characters of parts two and three die at the end of their part, or in pert three's case, halfway through the next one. Part one and four are major characters in part five. But the other, major but not main, characters also have their own hidden stories. So it switches characters depending on the part. I like extra, nameless characters, but usually any character with a name has a role in the story. The only problem is that I am debating whether to only have one part, and it be part five, with roles already played out in the first four parts in my original storyline. So I am still debating what exactly to do.
