Well, I guess this is very simple but maybe worth a try, I guess I have to explain it, though...

My personal vision of the goddess is complex, but can be very simply represented.

This is a tattoo designed by me. It's on my inner right arm, placed so that I can always see it.

User Image

I wear my goddess on my skin to remind me that she and I are one, my goddess is always with me.

What I was thinking when I designed it: I love quantum physics and my tattoo represents eternity on that level, eternity is my goddess. The phases of the moon stand for the phases of life and are placed in the intertwined never ending lines symbol for infinity. The repeated 3 dots around are to show atoms that are at the same time the infinite joining-together represented by a trinity. Am I making any sense at all?

I've had this tattoo for a long time and it's very much a part of me, even though I've since gotten many more complex ones it's still my favourite and if I'm feeling nervous looking down at my arm and seeing it is comforting. It's simple, but beautiful (I think). I hope you like it.

It does have a simple beauty but and even deeper beauty in what it means to you.

eek Wow...competition just spiked up a few noches...

Gwyn...that is some creative designs. I love adding designs to my more recent drawings, I applaud you for this one and using such a fun form of drawing. I forget what it's called, but it looks like she isn't drawn but assembled by pieces of torn paper. Quite facinating to look at.

Naomi, I would have to say that I fear your drawing may be the best here. The motion of the leaves and her twirling body, the emotion in her face, the detail in her outfit to match the equally detailed leaves...I really am impressed.

Silver also has a unique concept going here. The colors make your characters stand out so well. I could swear that those green and silver swirls were jumping up at me from the picture. Very interesting quality...

LalaLalogic, your tattoo is absolutely amazing. I have seen incredible detail etched into the elastic skin of many people adorning wonderful portraits and stunning colors and shades...but nothing can ever match meeting someone who talks about their tattoo as a representation of their very essence...and with the use of symbolism no less! I am a bio major (now) and planning to go into physics later so I can become an astrophysisist and astrobiologist, but quantum mechanics has also facinated me. Not only that, but I am familiar with many forms of symbolism that to see you describe things as simple as those three dots representing the proton, neutron, and electrion just baffled me. I am impressed also by the design in which you chose to tie in the mathmatical infinity symbol and manipulate it to look like the many phases of the moon. Again, I really am amazed. Anyone can have the guts to get a tattoo and any decent artist can copy the most detailed design into your skin, but when you have such an indescribable bond with the symbolism involved...that really is the amazing part. It's what seperates you from the generic tribal-design-wearing lower-back tattoo girls that are just...everywhere that it has become bland boring...not to mention completely unoriginal! >_<

I may submit another piece myself, based off of representations of all the elements in human form...possibly modernized. I was motivated to go for the modern look after seeing that wicked Pan you drew Naomi. I also have a modern witch on my folder I would like to scan when I get the chance...but I believe I am only allowed two entries...but I'm sure no one would mind me posting extra for the sake of art, would you?

Funny you mention it. She is torn up peices of paper. ^_^ it's hard to explain but it involves really tedious desgin gradients on large sheets of paper ((my markers are sooo dead now)) then tearing up the graidents into the shapes you want to form a shadowed picture. ((Thats why her nose looks funny)) sweatdrop

This a self-portrait. I really don't care for contests, but I just wanted to show off a bit.

Well, thank you very much. ^.^

I believe that nothing is just a simple nothing, so I have no need to use a lot of bold colour in all my designs (it's nice sometimes, though) because even if it's just a line, it's still SOMETHING, even if that something is just it's chemical and atomic makeup, so it's all beautiful. I'm currently working towards turning my body into a work of art, and I'm making progress. Maybe next time I'll submit another design, but a simple tattoo design is a bit of a long shot, seeing what's here in more traditional mediums. sweatdrop

Oh well, the winners will all be great and all deserve the prize.

Hmm... can we enter in photography? I have a few really neat photos I took of icicle formations outside my dorm room that I think would make nice entries if I can upload them with my tiny photobucket account.

Hmm, the rules didn't say it had to be a hand-made illustration. Photography is an art. And I have an affinity with winter and ice, so I must say that nature, in fact the Goddess herself, would have to be involved in such miracles and works of art.

Then again, it is good to ask. Regardless of the permission, if it isn't given, may I please see it? I have this one picture of an icicle formation outside a log cabin that made one new icicle after another curling in so it looked more like feathers and that whole structure looked like an angel wing. It was absolutely amazing.

You can enter ice cream finger-paintings for all I care, just as long as it's in one of the themes.

@ sybexshark ~ lol
@DamienZshadow ~ Thanks sweatdrop I'm glad somebody likes them, I was hoping to add color but I don't have a program that would do it justice. I'm sure if I had the time I could even do it with regular "paint" program, but I'm so swamped it's not even funny. But thanks for the compliments ^_^

Oh man, the competition keep stepping up a notch, I hope I can still stay in the contest. To tell the truth I'm starting to get a bit worried that I may not even place. lol. ::shrugs:: oh well, whether I win or not, it was fun to draw them.

Good Luck To Everyone Entering

Eeee... I'm excited to see who wins... Even if it's not me, of course. 4laugh

Darknessxfire, I love the flow of the cloth in her skirt. Actually, her whole body flows nicely. Do you have a online art gallery?

Or does anyone else have galleries with more of their work to look at?

Here's my latest and probably last entry. I call her...

Modern Wytch

User Image

She is supposed to symbolize a witch in modern times. Someone who stands out as a person who recognizes the world around her and the balances involved between the elements. As you can see, she is holding mordern everyday items to represent the elements and performing a ritual.

A water bottle in the right hand to symbolize water, a lit match for fire in the right hand, a blown bubble gum bubble in her mouth for air, and a quartz crystal on her pocket chain to symbolize earth. I drew a pentacle on her shirt as well as symbols of the moon on the sleeves and a pentacle on the ground.

I hope she is to your liking...

I can't believe I am saying this but...WAIT!! I don't want her to decide until after my drawing has been approved...I mean, she does have to check it or something, right? 0_o

Anyway, after that, I certainly would like to find the winner. Tell me, will you be deciding on your own or will a vote take place?
