"Eeeee, she calls you mister"! Yei gave a giggle and nudged at Grencia teasingly with her nose, muzzle firmly pressed against his neck, she gave a snort and then withdrew again. Her ears flicked here and then and swivelled back to the filly as she giggled. For a brief instance, Yei's eyes narrowed as though she was regarding with the filly with suspicion. However, no sooner had this expression crossed her face than it transformed into one of approval. "Ooooh this one has a sense of humour," she cooed and glanced towards Grencia with a slight nod. "I approve, she'll get along with everyone splendidly!"
"You will find that my mate is a very excitable madame," Grencia cleared his throat in an attempt to salvage some of the little filly's composure. It was clear by her body language that she was both nervous and uncertain. He wasn't entirely sure what allusions the little one had had in regards to his mate but clearly, Yei was not what the babe had expected. Then again, Yei Umeko was rarely an individual that anyone expected... her exhuberance was not something that many were accustomed to, nor were they completely certain as to how to respond to it!
"Madame? That's a word you use for someone who manages a harem!" Yei protested with a small 'humph', the fact that Grencia merely rolled his eyes and flashed a smile in response to her was an indication that she wasn't meant to be taken seriously. "Although I do play a wonderful matchmaker," she finally confessed with a sheepish smile. "But I'm glad to hear that my husband has been behaving properly, if he hadn't I would have to punish him!" she declared with a firm nod. Unsurprisingly, Grencia looked close to retort but thought better of it.
"Rest assured, Ambroise is a very able instructor regardless of what his ever loving mother might say about his personality," Grencia chuckled and shook his head. "He is certainly not as excitable as his mother, that is for certain."
"He's missing out, I'm tellin' ya..." She murmured quietly, more so for Brioso's benefit than her own.

As the two adults talked, she can't help but giggle silently to herself; it was a rather amusing sight to behold... She couldn't help but feel that Grencia's behavior is a little different when he is around his mate. Although she can't say that she's used to it, it made her feel more relaxed and at ease than if Yei turned out to be a stern mare. However, it didn't stop her from freezing up again when she saw the mare looking at her with a rather serious expression - did something happen?
She unknowingly held her breath, letting it out when she was given the 'stamp of approval' - she was teasing again! Flicking her tail happily, Brioso offered Yei a smile; she was feeling much more relaxed, having gotten more used to Yei's rather... Bright personality. Looking up at Grencia, she grinned before nodding; now that she was feeling more 'at home' in the presence of the two adults, the excitement that she felt on the hike up the mountain returned in full blast, making her smile uncontrollably, "I'm sure he is a wonderful instructor! I can't wait to meet him myself!"

If there was one thing about Yei, it was that she was rarely angry. The gentle mare was usually a whirlwind of excitement. She lived life to the fullest and tried to bring happiness to all those around her. Young at heart, she wasn't against teasing, jokes and jest provided they were malicious... and when one took her children into account they would realise that her mission in life had been a reasonable success in relation to her direct family line. There should have been no doubt in Bioso's mind that Grencia had fallen for the bubbly mare for a reason - she had a strange affect on everyone she met and it was rarely negative!
To say that Grencia relaxed when his mate was around was an understatement. The stallion positively doted on the mare, revelling in her very existence as she flitted here and there. His tense nature from the previous morning's journey could be put down to his uncertainty as to her safety or perhaps he was suffering from withdrawal symptoms. Either way, her presence brought life back into him and the tension that had been building evaporated. They made a good pair though - Grencia with his calm demeanour was a beautiful match for Yei's exhuberance. He could calm the mare down when necessary and she could fill him with excitement when he required a little bit of 'life'.
All the same, both adults beamed with approval as the filly finally found her feet and grew accustomed to her surroundings. She may have been nervous to begin with, but now she was used to them her excitement was clear. She settled the worries of both adults in regards to their uncertainty as to whether or not she would fit in.
"Well, I'm glad you're so enthuasiastic!" Yei announced with a nod. "But given the time of day it is, I'd suggest you get some sleep. We'll introduce you to Mr. Plank -"
"Ambroise," interjected Grencia.
"Mr. Ambroise the Plank," Yei murmured, "My very handsome and beloved son," she ammended after an few deliberate moments designed to taunt her mate. "Just make sure you don't call him Mr. Plank, he's devillish enough to make you do a million laps!"

"I'll do a million laps if he asks me to!" The filly nodded seriously, but paused right after saying it, deeply regretting her own words. Looking away, she quickly added after clearing her throat, "Well, I meant it... Uh, figuratively. Not literally." Maybe she does need the rest - now that she had reached her destination, she was starting to feel tired from all the traveling and hiking. Even all the excitement she had felt was starting to make her eyelids heavy. There was also the meeting with her instructor to look forward to when she wakes up in the morning...
Brioso smiled happily to herself as she allowed a yawn to escape her lips; she was finally doing it! Living her dream, or rather, working towards it... She would show those who doubted her that she can do it, and she would return home a heroine! People would be glad that she's there to give a helping hoof when they need it! Of course, she was just training to gain the abilities needed to carry out her dream... On their first meeting, Grencia had defined what being a true heroine meant and she had to figure it out for herself what it means to her... After all, she doesn't want to be known as a mercenary.
"I think I need to sleep," She commented softly, "I feel sleepy all of a sudden..."

Yei smiled deviously at the young filly's enthusiasm. Children were always so sweet and optimistic, but the true test would be whether or not the young one managed to maintain that level of enthusiasm when she was pushed to her limits. It was always a trial and definitely a struggle, Ambroise was aware of the limitations of foals but even then he pushed the boundaries. It was important, he argued, that all individuals were aware of the pressure they would be under from as early a stage as possible. This would ensure that only the best would remain and as a consequence, they would be entitled to share the secrets (or some of them at least) that the herd held.
Yei had a feeling that this little one would do her utmost to satisfy her son, she would push herself to the limits. That being said she was still young, and the mare was just a little worried that she may lose some of her unique spark if she were forced to conform to the standards of the borderguards. There was a reason that Ambroise was so serious, often introverted and indifferent to social events - all the quirkiness had been drawn out of him as a child.
She still held guilt over that.
Nevertheless when the filly informed both Grencia and she that she required rest, the two could only exchange a glance. They could have told her that from the moment she'd arrived! She'd had such a long and arduous trip that she should have fallen asleep an age ago. Alas, it merely supported Yei's suspicions that the filly would go far.
"Mountain air will do that to you when you first arrive," she flicked a small smile onto her lips and nodded towards the teepee. She wasn't asking the filly to sleep in it, but she was informing her that she needed to sleep beside it. It made a good wind breaker and the spirits knew that a filly with a very fine coat would need the extra warmth. "Take your rest now, I'm sure Grencia will have you up bright and early to meet with your mentors!"

"I can't-" The filly yawned before smiling sheepishly, her mind already wandering off into dreamland now that all was said and done. "Wait for morning..." Yawning again, Brioso dragged herself to where Yei had directed her to - normally, she would protest about sleeping next to the home of a potentially Soquili-hungry two-legger, but with Grencia and Yei around, she didn't feel that nervous.
Besides, she was feeling too tired to argue.
"Good night mister Grencia, Yei," She muttered, the 'mister' making its way back to the stallion's name out of habit. However, as she took one last glance at the two adults before making herself comfortable by the teepee, it was obvious that she didn't catch her own slip up. Instead, the moment she closed her eyes, Brioso drifted off to sleep, a small smile on her lips.
{End? owo}
