She had aquirted a back pack, who knew from where, if anything it was the magical appearing back pack. wheer ever the thing had coem from it was now hers and was packed full of books. Cooks for her leap pad. The leappad was her most favourite thing in the wole world. It taught her words, numbers, colours, shapes, songs, all sorts of things , she carried it mostly every where. Her dreams had finally ebbed to a memory again and she was getting back in to a happy little routine, the beach being her favourite none eating haunt.
Plopping down on the silver sand she drops her bucket and spade, she wanted to build something today, she wasn't entiely sure what though but the bucket and spade was essential for building! She slipped off the back pack and settling down under the shade of a tree, the sand warm even though it was over cast by the cool palm branches. The leap pad pade the most wonderful twinkling noise as she turned to the page where she had left it. This was a special book and she was reading it quite happily, learning the words as she went. Strangely a chracter in the book reminded ehr greatly of emelyn and itoccured to her she would have to tell the hedgehog lady so next time she saw her. she gigles, she was starting to link the people around ehr to the chracters in her childrens tales, Chubbs was quite obviously pooh bear, or at least in her eyes, Emelyn, well, she would tell emelyn herself when she saw her. She turned the page the magical sound echoing in the air once again as she used the pen to touch the words and mimic the language she had been denied ever since she was small.
Kim, unaware of it all, simpely walked along the shoreline, not minding when the water rose and wet her feet, neither the mix of water and sand that got over the sandals and onto her feet. The feel of sand was always soothing... Long hairs where sightly curled around her left arm to avoid contact with the wet sand, hands in her pocket as she seemed deep in thought.
As she got closer to Colche's location, she perked sightly at the sounds, removing her hands from her pockets and blinking a bit as she came into her sight. Was there... spots on her skins ? She eyes narrowed a bit, as she tried to distinguish better. Yes, it seemed like so...
Uh.
She shrugged to herself, deciding it was at least polite to introduce herself, making her way at the same pace.
"Hey there." She smilled, once she got close enough to talk.
Colche paused as the voice interrupted her train of thought and her huge deep blue eyes fled up to the new comer. Her brow furrowed a bit but it was quickly extinguished by a smile and a puurr which echoes from her chest "helo" she whispers. Her own jet black, exceedingly long hair hid the worst of her animal features though her tail did give a twitch making a slight part in her strands. She smiles up at the woman curious while at the same time a little weary, new people were hard to get used to, she found it extremely hard to converse with people she didn't know.
Taking a deep breath though she wrinkled her strange nose in a smile, the lines beneath her eyes moving with her smile "Colche" she stated, looking at the girl curiously, she wasn't fuzzy at all was her first most noticable feature, she must have been very new, everyone whom she knew was at least a little bit fuzzy, or scaley in Amayas case.
Wait, a... tail ?
Confusion was clear on the asian's face, but she said nothing, croutching beside her and finally sitting in the sand, until she finally replaced a smile back on. Just because she had... well... a tail and spots... doesn't mean she had to mention them... She probabely heard enough about it as is.
But now, she couldn't shake that there was something odd with this island.
"Kim." She smilled, making no move to go closer, or otherwise intrude in her personal space. "How are you doing ?"
Colche continued to smile though the girl sait very little colche could get lost very easily in any conversation. "Kim" okay that was an easy enough name. Colche was a great mimik if nothing else, she was clever but not quite all together. Still everyone liked ehr book "Book" she stated in her usual simple manner "nice, good words" she wrinkles her nose softly Showing Kim the page she was reading which at the top read 'the Tale of Tom Kitten' she giggles a little as she pressed the words and mimicked the book as it spoke back to her "The..tay..ul..ovv...Tom..Kitty!" she giggles and grins looking back at Kim looking for some praised, she liked to be praised for learning new words.
It suddenly occured to her though that the woman looked confused, she itches her top lip for a moment before speaking again "what be you?" she asked, it was a strange statement perhaps, though it was one she had discovered just recently, she liked to ask, it made ehr learn a new word, like green iguana, thatw as the longest one that was what Amaya was. She points to herself again with a tiny lilting giggle "Colche Kitty." It was the simplest form of cat she knew, she knew some how she was turning in to a cat though she didn't understand there were differnt types of cat, that she was infact turning in to the biggest little cat, the cheetah. She waited expectantly, her huge blue eyes filled with that purely innocent sparkle which never faded except when she was frightened.
It was so odd, she seemed so... alike a child. Kim smilled, glancing at the book.
"Yep, that's it ! Looks like a good book... maybe we can read it together ?" This was a good change of pace from the last few days... and this wierd dream... God, what had gone up with that ?
The next question only confused her more. What... was she ? She blinked a bit. Maybe it was some kind of game.
"I don't know." Well, she wasn't lying. "You're a cute little kitty, tho."
The spots reminded her of a cheetah...
Hargun strolled along the beach for the first time in several days. Before making that run with Joliette and the Dude, she had avoided the place, since it seemed to be the source of most unfortunate events and encounters. Specificly flashing back to the truth or dare time at the bar.. and her 25% change.. having to reveal herself.
But now it was time to get over it and try to enjoy herself.
After walked a while she began to hear conversation. Speeding up, the water splashing so unusually between her strangely mutated toes, she finally reached sight of the two ladies talking. She couldnt really recognize either although the one with the black hair was oddly familiar.
She began to slow down to a stalk-like walk. "Uhm.. heya!"
Colche was happily holding her book and about to aggree on reading it together with the new girl when Hargun's voice echoed to ehr ears and the fluffy circletts twitched "Hargun" she smiles lightly looking back to Kim, she didn't want to miss out on reading her book with somone noone had offered to do that ever and she liked her book so very much.
Her eyes fixed on Hargun again trying to think of a chacter she could link Hargun with out of one of her stories, unfortunately bats didn't appear too often so she scrunched her brow and waited for the bat girl to come closer so she could ask, she had become all the more inquisitive since ehr journey in to the wonderful world of reading, she wanted to know everything.
...O...kay.
When one thought about it, Kim took this in much better than she would have been expected to... after all she was not running off yelling and screaming.
She had, however, that one deer in the headlights look for the second time under an hour.
She visibely caught herself staring and embarassed herself, cheeks turning red and putting on the usual smiling/embarassed mix of face.
"Hey ! Want to come read with us ?"
Maybe it was just another crackass dream ?
I cant put my finger on it.. but.. who is she? Is this.. NO. Colche?! she thought. It had been a while since she saw the girl, and hadnt seen her with ANY sort of changes until now.
But this other girl.. was certainly new. Why wasnt she freaking out? Although she could defnately feel a bit of awkwardness from the stare, she smiled.
"Eh... sure." she said. She wasnt sure exactly if it was a smart idea.. reading had become a bit hard, but because she knew Colches nature, it wasnt going to be like reading a novel that she always hated in highschool.
She came closer and sat over by Cloche.
Colche puurred softly, it was a kitty puurr but one which she didn't make with her tongue, it echoed straight from her chest. She smiles at the two women a big broad smile as she settles int he sand her book still open to the first page of the tale of tom kitten. She liked the name, though she knew she wasn't called tom she could certainly imagine the tale being called Colche Kitten. She looked to Hargun then and smiled a curious little smile "what be hargun?" she asked her tiny stub of her tail giving a twitch flicking up her hair and a bit of sand "Colche Kitty" she stated, looking proud of herself. Her attention turned to her book then and she gave a giggle once again pointed the pen to the magical leap pad so it spoke the words the tale of tom kitten "the tae of tom kitten, Colche kitten" She grins, she didn't have any qualms about becoming a 'kitty' of course perhaps this was partially because she didn't understand it but, furry, scaley and feathery people were all nice to her where normal people in the past hadn't been.
She listened as the book read on the tale, but could not help but send another look at the new woman. It was a bit less akward, more of a "What's going on in here ?" look than the "WTF ?!?" look she gave out previously.
This was all wierd, so wierd... but almost seemed to real to be a dream. What was going on ?!? She could not spell her question or her confusion in words, and beside, she did not want to interupt Colche.
Definately Colche. she thought.
"Hargun is a bat." she said smiling. She felt like she was back at her neighbor's babysitting. Colche was so.. sweet. So adorable.. yet so childish. She never really got the story on her, but figured it was best not to ask. There was obviously a reason behind it.
She turned to face Kim real quick. "So.. are you uhm.. new here?" she asked, although she figured that was a 'yes'... unless the girl knew the secret.
Colche smiled and read all the way through the story, mimiking the words as she pressed them. "bat" she mutters looking at Hargun, "pretty" she states, stiffling a yawn, she stretched a little closing her book she placed it in her back pach andcurled up obn ehr sand her tail curling close to her "nap time" she stated, simple as anything her big blue eyes closing, her puurr starting up though it slowly faded away as she drifted off in to one of those exceedingly deep cat naps.
Kim could not help but smile as Colche curled to nap. God, she didn't think someone could be so old, yet so cute and sweet at the same time... It was almost as if the girl was her little sister.
She glanced up ar Hargun, her eyes still filled with confusion, letting her long hairs fall in twirls on the sand.
"I came here about... uh... two or so weeks ago, I figure..." Or was it ? It was too easy to lose track of time here. Finally, she managed to form the words...
"...What's going on in here ?" This, obiviously... wasn't normal, was it ? A girl looking like a cat, a girl looking like a bat...
Hargun couldnt help but laugh sweetly as Colche fell asleep. She was SOOOO adorable!
She sat up and looked to Kim rather seriously. She couldnt talk about anything related to their fate in front of the innocent girl that she hardly knew.. and scared once already.
"Two weeks.. hmm.." she repeated. Shouldnt be very long before she changes.. another week give or take..
"You really want to know whats going on?" she said sighing.
Her eyes hardened just sightly, making sure Colche was deeply asleep before continuing.
"I figure it will be better if im told now than if... I figure out on my own." She could not help the shivver down her spine. It had something to do with the animal features, she knew that much, but what, what ?
"So, yes... please."
Hargun blinked a bit. She wasnt expecting this.. definately not.
She took in a deep breath, and tried to think of a way to word what she was about to spill. It was most likely going to be hard to believe.
"Well.. uh.. Im sure youve heard of.. maybe met... the head of this island? If no one gave you a name.. Dr. Moreau." she almost winced at saying his name. Recently having retraced her hatred for him, and this being the first time she straight out explained the secret.. "But anyways, Dr. Moreau.. is a deciever. He's mean, cruel, and a bast-" her voice rose rapidly, but she found her center and took anothr breath. "..to put it bluntly, he lied to you. Whatever the heck he told you, its a lie. And.. as you can erm.. see..."
She held out her webbed hand, then turned to the sleeping Colche for a moment.
"Hes.. uh... turning us all into animals."
Phew. Now for the hard part though.. the reaction.
"Yes... I met him." She trailed a bit, staring at the sand like if it was the most interesting thing in the world, biting hard on her lip to keep it from wobbling. It was hard to believe... but with the two beside her, it was almost impossible to NOT believe it, even if it sounded like a plot out of a book or a video game. It was just... too real. She'lld gotten good at distinguishing special effects from normality anyway... and it didn't look... fake.
"I-I see." She couldn't find any other words, or even will herself to move, as if the confusion and realisation had held their peak and took over, and she herself found herself wondering why she was not screaming... crying... whatever...
If this was true, and it all seemed so... Then she was not going home... She was not going to be... cured... wasn't see ?
At the moment, it was what seemed to hit the hardest.
But she had been right. It would have been worse... MUCH worse... to figure this out for herself.
"...Thank you..." It was all she found to say. "For being honest."
If the 0.1% of chances kicked in and it WAS a joke, the worst she would be would be being laughed at for being guilible.
Hargun nodded with a sympathetic look. It hurt. This was exactly why she didnt want to tell Joliette right away, but after Kim mentioned how long she was here for it was safe to say.
"Youre welcome..." she began, and put a hand on the other's shoulder.
"im really sorry youve been brought here.." she said. She wanted to change the subject.. but that would be absolutely impossible now.
"Ah. I was going to ask you your name. Yep, Kim. Im Hargun... I know.. its a tad odd.." she said, and grinned, then turned around and sat on a rock between Colche and Kim.
She let out a sigh and stared into the sand.
"So.. until now of course, have you enjoyed being here on this god forsaken island?" she asked and smiled weakly.
"To be frank ?" She tilted her head about. "I've feel akward in here since I came here. I don't like traveling all that much... my mom forced me here, because, well... She saw an ad that there was an experimental cure for diabetes going on in here."
And now I lost her... and she lost me... Her mind trailed. It was doubtful there was communication with the outside, it would break the secret... and even if the recipient thought it was a joke, it would have spread...
Hargun looked a bit suprised. "You were.. already told there was an experiment? I wouldnt have taken the offer even if they didnt say anything about animals.." The thought of being literally tested on, all day in a white clean lab in medical sheets came to mind.
"Although you said your mom made you come.. I guess its not your fault." she looked upwards, leaning back against the rock comfortably. "I came for an art community. It was my choice and now I somewhat hate myself for taking up the offer. Im really sorry you were forced here.."
If her mom forced her to go absolutely anywhere away from home without her consent, shed probably run away pr rebel compeltely.
"I know, I didn't want to... But mom is the only family I had left, you know ? She was dead-set that it was going to work... it's not her fault." She sighed a bit, laying against the side of the rock, and staring at the ocean.
But then, it hit her. An artist... she was an artist... and her hand...
"...Oh god, that's awful... Im sorry... I think ill'd go insane if I lost my hands..." And for all she knew, she just might. "Im a game designer, you see... I play alot of them. It's my passion, along with music. I just graduated..."
How could a man do this ?
Hargun stared expressionless for a while.
"Eh.. theyre not completely gone yet." she managed to say. "Ive decided Ill trade drawing for flying. It's whats been keeping me positive over the whole thing. But still.. Id love to hold a pencil again without having to use my toes.." she said, and curled them.
"Oh.. wow really? Ive always wanted to get a job in gaming.. of some sort. Although my addiction to my old games has died off to only DDR being my obsession..." she laughed.
"You just graduated? Thats neat. I was about to enter my senior year in highschool then came here. Although I must say now that I realize it.. I like not having school.."
But this place was still as much a prison as school was, if not more. Much more.
"Yeah, I was about to go job-hunting. I could have gotten in Ubisoft... it's... really wierd now, knowing that there's... probabely no way now." She shook her head a bit, sending the bangs spawling a bit. She send Hargun a grin. "I like about everything. Rpgs are more my thing, tho. And platformer. Too bad I didn't bring my DDR mats, or we could have played..." She had a DDR game right ? Did she even bring it ? Augh. With a collection like that, it was hard to keep track...
"I wonder how flying feels like..." It reminded her directly of the dream she had woken up to. How ironic, she had came here to forget about it... but in a sence, it was what happened.
"That wouldve been cool." she laughed again. "Imagine if you werent comming here, and you were just visiting.. you could make a video game about us."
She held her hand out and let the natural wind brush against it.
"I bet its gonna be pretty neat. Probably really freaky at first.."
Her face seemed to dull. "Moreaus probably got boundaries or something. But we were thinking if we could get some of us flyers off teh island, we could get help, and get everyone off the isle and away from that sick man Moreau."
"There's probabely some kind of boundaries... Is there any fish ? Fish, too, will probabely have some kind of thing... since, well... we're surrounded by water, wouldn't they just swim off ?" She sighed. "I might have been an interesting game... We had to write a senario for an exam, and one of my friends came up with something similar, kind off... It's a bit ironic. It was some kind of fighter game playing with totem animal concept."
More than a bit ironic, probabely.
Hargun almost instantly thought of Bloody Roar. Only images of her comrades who had changed enough to look a lot like their animals beating the s**t out of Moreau.
"That wouldve been really neat." she said and began to think about her first question.
"Well.. theres the Dude.. hes turning into some sort of sea animal.. a sea lion I think. He swims around the ocean alot." Im suprised he isnt here right now.. "But hes probably for certain to have boundaries as well.. and considering how much trouble he keeps getting into with Moreau, Im sure Moreau shortened it as much as possible."
"Hmhm." She nodded. There was no doubt that some tried to step up every chance they got, after all. She knew for once that she probabely wouldn't have the courage to do so.
The ocean was soothing... she didn't detach her eyes from it, sliding her glasses up her nose idely.
"I take it you only know what you're... becoming... when it happens ?"
Hargun shrugged.
"Actually, It depends. I had no idea what I was becomming during my first change. (And Im not so sure why Ive got non-bat like features...)" she mumbled, reffering to her horns.
"But after a while youll probably figure it out... from sleeping patterns, dreams, strange food cravings, and then the obvious physical changes." she faced Kim. "By the way... did you have any awkard dreams since youve gotten here yet?" she asked. This was always the first clue.
"I did. I woke up this morning from one, actually." She frowned a bit in thought. "I dreamth I was flying... well it seemed like it. I could only see sky, no ground and all... My father was calling me, and just as I reconized his voice, I woke up. I havn't dreamt about him in years... It was so wierd."
"Hmm.. a dream about flying?" her voice sounded a bit curious. She hadnt dreamt about flying yet.. only the sadistic nightmares about loosing her ability to draw.. but that -still- involved her turning into a bat.
"Maybe youre turning into a flying animal as well? I havent had any dreams like that yet but.. heh.. I doubt a frog or hippo or something like that would fly.. yah know?"
She couldnt think of anything that would involve the girl's father, though she expected it was something definately not to bring up. She was fortunate to have a dad that was around a lot when not deployed.. and usually her friends who had divorced parents or something like that got touchy when it came to talking about dads.
"Maybe... it was very, very wierd. I couldn't make head or tails out of it..."
At the mention of an hippo, she couldn't help but laugh a bit. Oh, no, oh god no... Well, there where worst things... like... a fly or something.

This, amazingly, concorded with Kim's return from the beach. She had barely started to step up the stairs when she heard the first scream... And by the second she was running down them, heading torward Awen's door.
Something was going on, that she knew... What if she needed help ?!?
All this, added to all she saw today... this was shaping to be a day she was never going to forget, wasn't it ?
She didn't hesitate at the door, and knocked lightly.
"Awen ? Awen ?!? Are you allright ?!"
Awen jumped a little bit and poked her head out of the bathroom to the door. Her stomach clenched. It sounded like.... that other gamer chick....K...Kim! Awen frowned a little bit. She wasn't sure if this girl knew or....
But if she was silent it would scare her more porbably. Awen slowly, weakly walked to the door. At least she didn't have that elevator feeling anymore....
She opened the door only a crack. "Hey, yeah I'm fine..." She blushed a bit. "Didn't mean to..um..bother you..."
"You didn't bother me... I was out. I heard you scream when I came in, and I was scared..." She twirled a bang around her finger nervously, swallowing a bit hard. All of this was still sinking in her head...
"I guess im a little jumpy, sorry." She added, after a small moment of sillence. "But im glad you're okay..."
Awen's hair fell to the side a little bit as she shifted her weight, revealing one of the newly formed horn-thingies on her head. She chuckled a little nervously perhaps.
"Sorry to scare you... I um..." She really didn't have an excuse. But the truth caught her tongue. If the girl didn't know how would she explain...? She now appreciated, at least in part, Hargun's want to keep Joli's delusion.
But lies would never suit.
"Was just..." Words..once again stopped dead and she looked down.
The horn was almost impossible to miss, and it sent another shivver down the girl's spine. Being told it all was one thing, but now she saw it... she could not deny it, not that she had. That was the ultimate proof, right here.
She bit her lip, and ran an hand into a bang, as if to tell her that her horn was showing, in case she felt better hiding it.
"It's allright." She admitted. How she was not totally freaking the hell out, she didn't know.
It would probabely smack it all in the face later, when all the confusion would have cleared and she was left with only clear thoughts of the situation.
"It's allright." She repeated, trying to find her words. "I... I know."
This was one hell of an akward moment.
Awen swallowed hard and gave the girl a sad smile. She rubbed her forhead, fingers parting between the horns. She wouldn't hide them..and... Kim knew so.
She glanced back at her duplex and cleared her throat.
"A...about that gamers challenge huh?" She said and tried to grin. "How about some SC 2?" And yes she did just say the letters. Kim was a fellow gamer, she should know.
She was trying to act like it was all normal. After all not like she hadn't known what was going on.... and... and well she shouldn't show Kim she was upset, it would just scare the girl.
Kim seemed to instinctively catch on, and nodded a bit. The message had gotten across, and it was all that mattered, even if the vocal detracted from the matter.
It was one way to deal among a millon, so she forced a small grin on her face as well, even if she looked a bit fake... maybe they could fool each other and forget about it all, for a moment... She didn't want to dwel and think about it, not now, not now, anytime but now... Expecially not in front of the poor girl, who had enough on her mind allready.
"Oh, yeah. Sure, that sounds nice. Need me to go get one of my controllers, or do you have two ?"
A gamer is never unprepared.
Awen let a weak laugh out. "I've got four." A gamer is never unprepared, after all!
She stepped away from the door to let the girl in and moved towards the PS2. She grabbed an extra controller and poped it in. She unraveled it and handed it to her. "My favourite one, which is kind of worn. Another for two player battles... and two others incase the two break." She explained as she flipped the game on.
She pulled out the chair for Kim with her rubber foot padding, which may have been a bad idea since it was tender still. She winced but tried to ignore it. She flopped down on the bed...sitting on her tail. She yelped and shot to her feet.
She sighed heavily and tried sitting down again being careful this time.
Kim couldn't help but vince a bit as the girl yelped, only now noticing the tail. Ouch, that had to hurt.
"I used to go trough like... 2 controllers a month before starting to buy the better ones." She forced out a laugh, visibely trying to divert Awen from the pain. "I used to throw them around when I was younger and pissed at something..."
Awen smiled a little bit and laughed. "I never did that to my stuff and I always boguth the good ones.... er.. ya know except like turbo controllers or that really cool gun controller for the Xbox..." She started up the verus mode chosing, as always Kilik.
"Ready then?"
"Money was a bit tight when I was younger, so..." She smilled, idely going trough the character screen as she usually did while pondering who to chose. "Since I got a job, it was easier..."
She finally settered for Taki, and gave Awen a grin. "Let's go."
Awen blushed a little bit and just focused in on the game. She hadn't meant to make the girl uncomfortable with the thought of money. Good job Awen, just open your big rich girl mouth again.... She sighed a little bit and focused in. It had been awhile since she had played someone who favoured Taki.
The back of Awen's hands hurt a little bit. She backed Kilik away to be able to scratch her hand a moment and felt the little rubbery skin there too. She frowned a bit, the scratch was a bad idea. Her left hands ached more now.
That headaches didn't really go away either. She closed her eyes for a second and sighed. She was really was off her game. Kilik was getting his butt whooped. Awen...really didn't seem to notice all that much though.
Kim... didn't seem to notice much at first as well. She did, however, completely stop while Awen was scratching... she was no cheater, after all.
But aside that, she was completely concentred on her game, barely even noticing the girl's sigh. It's been a long time since she had played SC2, she had lost some of her touch... expecially with Taki. She found herself winning still, and it was then that she glanced at the blue haired girl.
"...You're sure you'll allright ?" Sure, they had not talked a whole lot, but Kim couldn't help but being a bit worried about her.
Awen blink and shook her head looking back over to Kim. She at the screen and notice their health bars. Kilik was two normal hits from being dead on his feet.
"Um..." She let a nervous grin slip to her face. "Just..uh..out of practice ....um... I think..."
Kim blinked as well. "...Maybe I should take another character then..." But well, she had not given the most amazing performance, either.
It was all a very wierd... surreal day. Like if her brain was tired of taking things in and having to think. She sighed a bit to herself at the thought.
Awen set down her controller. "Maybe we should just pick up another time..." She mumbled a little bit. "I sort of have a headache so... Shouldn't be playing anyway..."
She shifted her weight a little bit on the bed. "I mean I'd love to play and all... but..."
"No, no, it's more than allright." She nodded softly, black hairs following the movement as she got up to flip off the ps2.
"You should lay down for a bit, ill't help... Do you need anything ?"
Awen stood up when Kim had and she smiled softly. "Naw I'll be fine." She waved her hand like nothing was wrong really. "Listen I'm just gonna get some air... Thanks though."
The asian simpely nodded as an answer - it was about time she should go eat, anyway...
"Ill see you later then, okay ? And you can kick my a** at SC then." She managed a smile.
Awen followed Kim out the door and smiled softly. "Alright, you can borrow SC if ya wanna practice up first." She gave a sincere laugh. "Next time I'll be back on my game for sure!"
She waved a little and headed off towards the jungle for a walk.

But when night came... There was nothing else to discract her... from the truth. No need to remain stoic, no need to help someone else...
She turned in her bed, but with no effect. She couldn't think about anything else than what she's seen today... what she's heard today... and the truth she had learnt today.
Im not going home...
She wanted to scream... but her troat almost seemed to close itself, refusing to let any sound out. So, instead, she cried. She had no idea how long she did cry for, but, using her pillow to muffle the sound as not to awaken Awen, she let it all out, the thoughts swirling in her head like a never stopping buckle...
When she finally managed to get enough clarity and clear her mind enough to look at her side, the laptop's clock announced 3 am. She was so tired, yet she couldn't sleep... She started to get up, trying to at least get a towel to put over the wet pillow... But suddently the room started to spin, and she felt back on her bed. What the... it felt just a bit like when her sugar was low... but she was allright before sleep, and her hands weren't shaking like they usually did... so it couldn't be that.
Both a physical and emotional wreck... great.
Sighing to herself, she curled up, trying to forget the sensation that she was going to puke that completely overtook her body... only managing some sleep when the clock announced am, hoping not to wake up anytime soon.

The last few weeks had been... well.... blurs.
Kim had rarely left her duplex... mostly feeling too sick to do so and not wanting to embarass herself in front of others, as well as still taking everything she discovered in.
Silence was good for things like that... As she bitterly admitted.
A single glance at the clock on her laptop made her seethe - so close to christmas.... usually her favorite time of the year, but now she was alone...
Well, not completely alone... but she barely knew anyone here, and she was lost, away from home, away from her family... But what could she do about it ? There wasn't a way out, was it ?
The only thing she could do is try to make "home" here... but she had yet to find the strength to do so.
She knew she'll find it one day.... but not now.

Hargun made her way out of her duplex quickly, irritated with herself for not doing this sooner. In one of her arms was a few pieces of paper with scribbly writing, and several, tiny little clay figures, each wrapped in a makeshift red ribbon for a tag. Each also had a label to whom it was for. Most of them were hearts, but a few were animal shapes. She pulled out one shaped like a heart. Then she placed it down near the door, on top of a letter that read (In terrible handwritting): Quote: Dear Kim, Im so sorry I had to be the one to break the truth to you. I want you to know, all of us are here for you and will help support you as much as we can! Happy Holidays! Love, Hargun

When you awaken you find a gift wrapped box laying there.
When you open it up you find a Sony PSP, that appears to already have a carrying case and a 4GB drive attachment.
With it as well you find these games.
Prince of Persia: Revolations Kingdom of Paradise Peter Jackson's: King Kong Ghost in the Shell: Stand Alone Complex Dynasty Warriors Lumines: Puzzle Fusion

When she woke up in the morning... it was like waking up every morning since she came on the island. No feeling on excitment... nothing.
It felt very, very odd to her.
She got up, stretched... then bumped into something that had not been there when she went to sleep the night before, and almost felt on her face, which pretty much finished the waking up process, and sent her skittering on one foot for a few seconds, while muttering something in vietnamese that was probabely... better left unsaid.
After the initial reaction (and the pain in her right foot) passed on, it was all remplaced by an almost childish curiosity. Who had left that here... The door was locked, right ?
She went to check, and at the same time saw the note and clay heart, carefully taking them up with a smile... blinking a bit at the note, and going to fetch her glasses, taking the unknown box on the way and laying the whole on her bed, sitting cross-legged and sliding her glasses up her nose, examining the paper.and having to read it a few times before she could make out the message... a deep smile installing itself on the girl's face as both the clay heart and message found a place on the desk, where they would be safe and, more importantly, always at view. And then, her attention was back to the mysterous box.
The door had been locked... this was all so odd. But there was obiviously no mistake on the fact it was for her if it had somehow wound up here, against all odds... And then she should unwarp it.
...Hopefully it wasn't anything bad...
But then all thought of THAT was shattered the second she saw what was inside the box.
Oh god.
Ohmygodohmygodohmygodohmygod.
And then.... there was a squee in digital surround, the rest of the world stopped to exist for a few hours, and boy did she play.

Pyroth couldn't pass up on the opportunity for some Christmas food, his nose wouldn't let him. So, having finished sketching out a design he intended to complete later, he had made his way down to the cafeteria, where he heaped a good portion of food onto his plate, took a seat and tucked in.
It was a delectable dish, and he went back for seconds, not something he would normally have done back home. Of course, Pyroth dealt with binge eating in an unusual manner, he would eat a lot one week, then eat nothing for a long period of time, this meal would be enough to tide him to the new year.
He hadn't eaten a mincemeat pie before and chalked it up as one of his more unusual meals on the island, particularly with the oddity of his altered tastebuds.
When he was done, he leaned back in his chair and waited on his stomach to settle, his stumpy tail wagging faintly. If only this good mood could last for the rest of the year.
Kim was in a good mood as well... and didn't feel as sick as she had felt the past few weeks. Therefore, it drove her out of her duplex to explore.
...Explore meaning walking with her attention focused on her new shiny, of course. It was the innate 6th sence of a gamer... walk around and play without coliding into anything. The small girl was visibely a master of the art.
Therefore, when she arrived in front of the tables, it was the smell that drove her back onto planet Earth, and surprise that covered her face for a second. Uh... well, she hadn't expected this... But why not ?
After gentely putting the PSP back in it's carrying case with a carefullness that could rival someone handeling a precious crystal glass, she sat to have some, not really noticing her surroundings at first.
Pyroth glanced over as someone else entered the cafeteria and was hit by the usual pang of self-conciousness. He fought it back though, there was nothing quite like a good meal to make him that little bit more resolute. Flicking back his ears, he merely watched Kim put away her PSP and eat for a bit before returning to his indifference to his surroundings.
He had nothing else to do today, so why not just chill out for a time in here where the scents were just so damn good?
It took the girl a bit more to notice Pyroth's presence, and when she did, well... she watched him for a moment in a small bit of surprise, but then caught herself, reddning a bit before staring at her plate like if it was the most interesting thing in the world. Damn !!!
She didn't quite know what to do... He didn't look like he wanted to talk, but she didn't want him to think... well...
She decided herself, however, and sat beside him, far enough to keep his personal bubble unshattered but close enough to talk, and smilled.
"Hey... Merry christmas. I don't think I've met you... My name is Kim."
Pyroth was vaguely aware of eyes on him, but it wasn't something he hadn't gotten somewhat accustomed to, even as a human his appearance had been rather striking and garnered some attention. He didn't expect Kim to seat herself beside him, let alone adress him and was somewhat pleasantly surprised. Turning his very canine yellow gaze onto her, he grinned faintly, making sure not to reveal more tooth than was neccisary, in the jungle, he could do what he liked in terms of behaviour, but the surroundings of the cafeteria and dwellings seemed to appeal to the human side of himself.
"Merry Christmas Kim" he spoke, his voice a tiny bit raspier than it once was, but not noticably so to one who hadn't heard him speak before. "Few have met me, I'm no social butterfly." and it was true he had to admit, most of his solitude was very much self inflicted, and no one's fault but his own. "I'm Pyroth."
He grinned a little broader, unwittingly revealing razor sharp canines "I would offer to shake your hand, but....you know." he held up a clawed paw for inspection, in too good a mood not to make a joke of his condition.
"Delicious food today, don't you think?"
She didn't seem to mind the canines too much, but couldn't help but giggle a bit, gentely sliding an hand on the paw. It felt all a bit... wierd, still, in her mind, the whole island thing.
"I guess that'll do, and yeah, isn't it ? I didn't expect there'll be something like this... or gifts, on that matter." She smilled a bit, letting go and taking a bite of turkey. "Im... not really a social butterfly either, but not really a loner, I guess." Not that anyone would have known with how she acted since she came here... "...I guess I don't know what I am."
Pyroth was glad to see that Kim must have acclimatised to the shocks this island was so good at dishing out, he hated having to deal with awkward stares and such for too long. He still wasn't used to the increased sensitivity of the fur on his paws however and had to supress a twitch at the sensation of touch on them. It was strange.
As far as the island's hospitality went, he had been surprised too. "Oh I know, you can never tell if you are coming or going in this place, one minute they are putting you through emotional hell, turning you into Xinai knows what, the next, slap up dinner and a gift you've always dreamed of."
He shrugged "I guess they just want us to be subjects, not maltreated prisoners." he smirked "not that anyone would know if we were anyway."
"I could be classed as a loner I suppose, I tend to stay out of other people's way lest I make myself look a fool the way I have done a few times. Besides, I've always been pretty awkward in conversation, at least my old friend, Khan used to tell me I was."
"Well, so far I guess it could have been much worse... When im not puking my guts out." Yerk. Just remembering that... "Still not too hot on the idea of staying here forever, but I don't have much of a choice, don't I ?"
She shook a bang of black hair away, careful to curl the ponytail in a way that it wouldn't touch the ground. "Im a geek... There's no denying that one." She smilled, softly. "I still don't know how I managed to take all of this the way I did... I guess my mind decided their was two choices. I could either accept it and attempt to be happy still, or deny it all and be sad all the rest of my life. I guess I decided for the former..."
Pyroth nodded, deciding to leave out mentioning how many times he had seen the contents of his stomach since he got here, whatever they were doing to his gut, it didn't like it much.
"You made that decision much quicker than I did. I had a good mope for a month or two, almost went back into a habit I didn't want involved in." Indeed, he had been on the verge of depression for a while "But then, after this most recent change, I came to the conclusion that it couldn't really get much worse, and my moping was doing nothing at all about it. I picked what was left of myself up, dusted it off and kept going. It's not the best situation we are in, but at least with some of these amenities, we can still make a confortable living here."
He added "Can't say I'm a geek myself, Khan was always the one who dealt with the electronics and gadgets, but he did keep trying to show me how to play that damnable computer of his. Suffice to say, I never ever got the hang of it. I'm just one of those people who prefers to talk than to.to....word process, I think it was called?"
She nodded a bit, blowing another subborn bang.
"Well, the world would be boring if we where all the same. And I guess I... learnt to react and pull myself quickly..." In between her diabetes, and her father's death, after all...
"Talking is a bit more personal than words on a screen, after all... I do prefer talking over sending emails or the like when I have the chance." She smilled again.
Pyroth pushed his own plate away from him a little, a habit shared with many people, and listened to Kim, she seemed a strong individual, something he hoped she would maintain even after her first change, always the worst one. "I think we all learn the hard way how to deal with things." It was true, especially here in the most exceptional of circumstances, you saw how people really were deep down.
"But I do agree, words are more personal, they hold more sway and influence than simple text." Pyroth wasn't good at reading anyway, he could only just do it. "Where I grew up, that was all there was."
He had enjoyed their conversation, but realised that he had meant to complete his drawing from earlier after dinner, his good mood was still very much present and he wanted to maintain it long enough to capture it.
Stretching, he yawned, covering his mouth with a paw. "Either way, I'd say that's my stomach settled. It's been nice talking to you Kim, but I've got a design that needs finishing up." he got to his feet, sliding his chair back under the table. "Good luck to you in future and if you ever need a friendly pair of ears" he flicked his own rather more furry than usual ones "at any time, don't hesitate to give me a visit, I'm duplex 5, near the sea, almost always at home."
He gave her a friendly nod. "I'll see you later."
And with that, he headed out of the cafeteria, his short black toe claws clicking on the floor.
She took mental note of the duplex number, and waved.
"Yeah, see you later, Pyroth." It had been really nice talking to him... hopefully she would see him again soon.

Oddly enough, it was Greer's little song that awoke her from her sleeping position on one of the corners of her room... just exactly how and when she had felt asleep and what time it was was a mystery to her mind... But it was probabely time to test her blood sugar, just in case. She did so quietly, and when the small machine said everything was right, she pocketed it, shoving the bandlet stained with blood in the other pocket before getting up and walking torward the other two girls that where there.
"Hey !" She gave Greer the same look she did to about everyone that far in she met so far, a bit of surprise, until she caught herself and let go, sightly embarassed... again.
Seeing Chana was almost a blessing... The only one that wasn't too far in that she had met where Awen and Jamal... Awen had changed since then, and she hadn't seen Jamal since then. It was a bit conforting to see she wasn't the only... "normal" ones.
"Mind if I join you two... ?"
"Oh, sure!" Chana exclaimed, and moved her lotkes out of the way to make room for both women. "An entomologist...that's pretty neat," she commented, finishing with the cream cheese. "I mean, I like looking at most bugs, but I don't get more out of it." Er...better hope she didn't take offense. After all, mosquitoes were the bane of any summer camp experience.
"And I've never met you before either," she remarked to Kim. "My name's Chana...what about you guys?"
"Don't worry - I have known for a long time I'm a weirdo, and not just because of the feathers." It was nervous joking on her part, but she was trying to set her new companion at ease- make that two new companions. It always happened this way on the island, n** out for a bit and you see half the population. Came from the small area and high stress levels, she guessed.
Sitting down, she began to cube her steak as usual and nodded to both Chana and the woman who hadn't introduced herself yet. "I'm Greer, sorry I forgot to mention that. You two new here?"
"Kim." She smilled a bit, messing with her bangs a bit out of nervous habit before sitting. She wasn't too hungry now... maybe later, when she found track of time again.
"Pleased to meet you both. And new, hm... Well, I came over a month ago... or so."
"I guess I'm still pretty new here...and it's very nice to meet you both...but Greer...that has got to be one of the neatest names I've ever heard! Where's it come from?" she asked eagerly. Not that she wanted to ignore Kim...but other girl seemed...quiet.
The feathered woman blinked, swallowing a handful of meat cubes before speaking. "It's Irish, rather like my mother's family. It means 'protector' I think." She liked her name? Huh, that was new. Normally people wrinkled their noses and thought it sounded funny.
"Since neither of you screamed or called me a demon, I assume you've had the intro to the island speech acted out for you?"
Kim couldn't help but frown a bit.
"Someone called you a demon ?" What ? That was pretty damn mean. But given that she had NO idea how she reacted like she did to Hargun... it was probabely safe to say that there was probabely... less than graceful reactions.
"But well... Yes. I came here thinking ill'd be cured. I mean, I didn't really expect it to happen, but hey... it was something to hope for." It was a bit hard to explain how she felt about that one.
"Protector...it's a good name," she said. Then Chana was over her head. Demon? Introductory speech? Cured?
"Erm...I think I'd rather not know what this speech involves. Especially not if it is related to someone calling you a demon," she told Greer, flushing. Everyone here was so stressed...she couldn't say if knowing or not was the lesser of the two evils, and so would stick with what she had.
"What do you mean, cured?" she asked Kim. The girl didn't look sick...but that didn't mean much.
Greer chuckled and theire reactions to her off-hand demon comment. "Meh, the guy who said it is a priest, and those fellows have their own problems. Well, the ones I knew as a kid were okay, but Irish Catholic priests tend to have a slightly skewed take on observing- and look at me, I'm babbling."
Ah, another curee. "Yeah, Moreau likes to promise cures. And jobs. I thought I was here to study insects, and I have been, but not officially or anything. No published discoveries for me. And the intro speech is the "Doctor lied to you, animal turning into in your future" etc. stuff."
Smiling as cheerfully as she could manage as she talked and ate, Greer hoped against hope she wouldn't have to give another one of those. Her last two hadn't gone so well.
"Diabetes. Type 1... My body doesn't produce insulin at all." She answered without hesitation, as if she knew it all by heart and had to speak about it many time allready, reaching for some apple juice. This didn't seem to be too much of a touchy subject for the vietnamese,
"Oh, priests..." She mumbeled a bit. "I've met a few... perticular ones. The most... err... "passioned" ones. I've been told that ill burn in hell more times than I can count..."
Joliette was cheered a little by what David had shown her, though that Eifel tower greatly reminded her of the one she could see from her gran and gramps house... the house she'd lived in till she was 2 and often visited afterwords. With a sigh she trudged into the cafeteria, her yellow tongue flicked and brought to her the smells of hte meats across the room which made her cringe. Though the beat inside her desired them they still really bothered her. She looked up as the scents brought back to her were also that of people... Chana, Greer and someone she didn't know.. Oh joy, she hadn't seen Chana since the girls' first day there... She shifted directions not wanting to go near the foods just then and headed for their table her toe-claws clicking on the linolium as her heavy feet landed on the floor. She'd not had a good day and she knew it wouldn't be any better of a week and her face showed the remaining signs of having cried earlier that morning
"Priest? You mean Father Young? He didn't seem so bad..." though we never got around to my being Jewish she finished to herself. She grew pale as Greer summarized the introductory speech. What on earth...?
"Diabetes, ah...that makes more sense. My cousin has it," she replied absently as Joliette walked in. The French woman had...changed. There was no other word for it.
"Erm...hi Joliette," she said. Suddenly that last half a lotke didn't look so appetizing.
One look at Chana said she was handling this badly. Damn it! Until her last change she'd been so much better at the being gentle and nice thing... probably because without the hawk in her she actually was. Bah. Humbug.
"I'm going to guess you haven't had it then - I'm sorry, I'm being so callous. Do you know why we're all really here?" Smiling at the curly-haired girl, she glanced back and saw the photographer. Oh hey! "Joliette! Thanks for the photo - it's beautiful work."
It didn't take a scientific diploma to figure out... Just by the way the other girl almost seemed to go white.
Uh... well.... oh.
"Chana ? Are you allright.... ?" It was evident that the newcomer had been cried... But she decided to not ask about it and wait if the matter would come up, giving her a wave. "Hello... I don't think we met, im Kim."
"Hello Chana" Joliette said in her thick British accent as she reached the table "Uhm Merry christmas.. to all of you" her voice sounded almost as if she was forcing hte holiday cheer into it "I'm glad you liked it Greer, it was the only think of giving hte people I'd met here so far I wanted to give something..." and then she looked at the vietmanese female "Hi... I'm Joliette, you are right I believe we have not met... You... You guys mind if I join you?" she asked quietly
"Um...yeah. I haven't had it," she answered Greer's question shakily and started piling her flatware on her plate.
"I'm fine, Kim...and thanks, Joliette, for the picture. It's lovely." She gathered up her dishes and stood.
"I...ah...think I'll be going. It's been nice meeting you two, and it was good to...see you again, Joliette." Chana left her utensils and dishes in the appropriate place and fled the cafeteria. Little bits of conversations were coming together in a way she didn't want to believe...for believing them would mean doubting G-d.
Growling at herself, Greer swallowed the last of her food and bussed her tray. Idiot! What was her goddamned problem-
"Excuse me, I'm going to track Chana down and apologize - have a good meal you two." Giving a quick nod to Kim and Joli, the entomologist left the cafeteria, searching for the girl in vain.
Blink.... Blink...
Blink.
Well, that went.... well ? Oh, boy.
"Erm..." She shook her shock and confusion away, managing to give Joliette a smile, in dispice it all.
"I don't mind... have a seat."
Joliette sighed at hte sudden departure of hte two people she knew but figured it was jsut another addition to her day... oh well. She had a seat, her yellow forked tongue flicking as she did "Soo... uhm how long have you been here?"
"Hm... over a month. Add or take a few weeks. I've been... a bit out of it lately, I guess, at least with time..."
Checking the calendar wasn't the girl's first priority when she was busy puking her gut out.
She sighed a bit to herself, a look of worry for the two on her face, as she took a sip of juice.
"Means you must have gotten here around the same time I did" Joliete mused quietly and shifted her position "Stupide tail nub" she grumbled hating hard seats. She glanced towards the door and back "Some Christmas this is no..." she said to Kim
"Yeah..." She trailed a bit. "...It's all very wierd... almost alien, in my mind. To think about mom... all alone at home..." She sighed, and forced herself off that track of mind. Someone back there must have made up something to cover her dissapairance... it seemed logical.
Her mom didn't know, and probabely never would...
"My mum's not alone, she has papa , grans and gramps and interpol and all them woulda just left a few days ago too" Joliette didn't sound like she liked saying that, "I... I dont think we'll ever leave" she was completely downhearted and had lost her sense of hope
"Yeah... I know." She sighed. "But even if we can't leave, ever... Even if we stay here for the rest of our lives, nothing keeps us from shaping our lives, don't it ? It's stupid... but im not letting them break me. Not that easely..." The small girl managed to slide a smile. "...I mean, I could mope about it... But then, what will it give me ? So I guess, I've been trying not to think about it... or what im going to become, on that matter."
The mere thought sent a shiver trough her spine.
"I have a tormentor, and my christmas gift included issues of World Weekly News, the magazine I worked for before winding up here, and they searched, and Feral Labs got involved, and now the hunt has been called off, plus I figured out what I'm becoming... Right now I dont have much to feel cheerful about besides David" She rests an elbow on the table and her hand on her chin leaning there, her long tongue flicked "Do you know what they are turning you into? Or just not thinking about it at all with no knowledge?"
"Wow... that... seriously blows." She sighed a bit, unable, as always, to find the words that would make things better. "At least, you have him..." She didn't know who this David was, but he was obiviously very close to the other woman.
"I've got no clue, nothing at all... and im not sure if I want to know." Alot of the transformations seemed almost... ironic or downright mean. "Well, I have those dreams... But I have no idea if they're any related to it or not."
"It's greatly possible... mine have all been about eatting meat.. I'm a vegan, or rather I was before this... but... according to my research I'm becoming a varanus komodoensis, and their diet is 100% meat, completely carnivore" She frowned "And I know who chose it I'm pretty sure... even if I was not awake when they gave me the first injection... As for David, yes least I have him... I met him here... him and hte few friends I've made are the only good things I've experienced here"
"Wow, that's just..." The words, however, choked in her troat. She muttered something in a foreign language, probabely vietnamese, and from the tone of it, it looked pretty damn colorful. "How can people be this mean... I still havn't figured that out." Even after the awsome gift she's gotten... her opinion on things still weren't too hot. "...I don't know what ill'd do if I was going to lose my hands and be unable to code and play games anymore..."
It would be the worst thing... ever.
Sighing a bit, she continued. "Mine mostly focus on... I dunno. It's kinda like flying... but not at the same time. I can't ever seen the ground, im just... drifting in a void, gliding in a void, until I find someone, something... and then I wake up." It was almost conforting to know she wasn't the only one to get dreams like this...
"I know Hargun is losing the use of her hands, Amaya's hands are getting bigger... Mine..." she lfts her other hand looking at it and it's rather sharp claws "Well mine got smaller, not as agile as they used to be, I hope I can still take photos... somehow... I doubt I'll be able to develope them forever.. guess we'll see.. I hope you don't lose yours, it's seriously no fun at all" she sighed looking at Kim again
"Yeah, I know... Hargun is the one who told me..." She sighed. "...She didn't really want to, but I just... had to know the truth, you know... ? I don't know alot about photos, but I did a bit in high school... Ill develop them for you, if you want."
If there was a way to make the other girl smile... she would do it.
"I am for now, but I may have to take you up on that offer in the future, we'll see I suppose... thanks" she smiled weakly, a smile that didn't really last very long. "Amaya was the one who told me... I believed I was on a movie set getting an exclusive, least thats how they tricked me to come ashore and leave my yacht. I didn't even know I had gotten an injection..." she sighed
"My mom made me come here to test out an experimental cure... It had that "too good to be true" feeling all over it, but I didn't imagine.... this, happening." She sighed a bit, shaking a few bangs off her face. "I wasn't even told anything... I only knew something was add around here when I met Colche and Hargun."
Joliette chuckled softly "Call me dense, Hargun was the first I met and I was sure she was an actress in costume, that they stayed in character all the time, I even had a script for it all... The script is in itty bitty tiny shredded pieces in a box that I sent to the git now... did that right after it all sunk in and I kinda had a screaming fit... How did you take the news?"
"....I kinda reacted a bit oddly. I havn't ever reacted like I did then before..." She remembered, absentmidtely balancing a fork on her finger. "I didn't freak out on the go... I just took it all in... Went back to my duplex to see my neighboor had changed... but when I finally got back alone, I just kind of... broke down, cried, and failed all night. It was really strange..."
"I've seen some pretty bad reactions to the news, I've even seen pure disbelief... I took it as a grain of salt till it actually sunk in... I hate being lied to and thats what coming here is, one great big lie... thats all they do to get us... lies lies and more lies... They have camera's watching us, ways to put us to sleep with 3 words, obviously ways to come into the duplexes without being seen...." Joliette scratched a claw on the table's surface
Kim paled a bit... just enough for Joli to notice.
"T-They can what ?" Cameras everywhere ? Being put to sleep ? She never heard anything about it...
After a moment... she just gave a nervous little laugh and shook her head. "I should have guessed, at least for the cameras... I bet they got a way to track our locations, now that I think about it... Man, this sounds like a very bad plot for a science-fiction rpg. But its real."
"Well I'm sure you noticed your christmas present wasn't on your doorstep like ones from friends would have been... As for the other thing... the 3 words I hope I never hear again... 'Subject Rigiel Sleep' ... Rigiel is my last name, so presumeably it's replaced with the name of whoever they want to sleep... It happened to me right after I managed to get a martial arts punch in on the git... right below his solar plexus... knocked the wind out of him and hte cocky grin from his face... And you are right... it does seem like a really bad science fiction thing..." she sighed
"Yeah, I noticed that... I about tripped on it this morning, but by some miracle I didn't break it..."
She was getting a bit hungry... and she would have to get something to eat soon to keep her blood sugar stable.
"Want anything to eat ?"
"Eat? yeah I probably should get something to eat, I haven't eatting since like lunchtime yesterday" she admitted and looked towards the huge buffet that was set out
"I think I saw some salad on passing earlier..." She remembered Joli mentionning something about not eating meat, so... She peered around, finally finding what she was looking for. "Ha, there it is !" She finally spotted it into the garnished table.
Joliette got up, "have no choice on the meat thing, my body is craving and nearly demanding it... I try to hide it in my food though..." she wandered to the salad table and searved a nice leafy salad then looked for some ham chunks like ambrose had done for her and sprinked some on making a face that truly said she didn't like the idea. and then returned to the salad area and started just simply drowning the salad in dressing
Kim bit her lip lightly in sillence, visibely feeling a bit bad. No one should be forced to do something they didn't want to... damnit. None of this was right... but what could she do ?
Sighing a bit, she scooped some salad aside along with some turkey, asking for a diet pepsi... she could use the jolt right now anyway.
All this reminded her of something, and her eyebrows creased a bit in thought.
"You know, when I think about it..." She trailed a bit, taking the dressing once Joli was done with it. "...I don't like fish, at all, or most seafood. But lately it seemed to small pretty damn good." She wrinkled her nose a bit in a bit of disgust at the idea. "I wonder if that mean anything... Something that flies and eats fish... That's pretty damn broad, still."
Joliette looked up at her new friend "You know that is true. Least it gives some minor hints in the direction though, flying and fish, least you know it's probably not an owl, I think they like mice better" She headed for the table with her ranch drowned salad her tongue flicking, then sat and waited for Kim
Eating mice ? ....Ohhh ewwwwww. Maybe the fish option wasn't that bad after all... She wrinkled her nose a bit tho, the only visible sign of her thought pattern.
"Yeah, you're right... Flying and fish... Maybe an eagle ?" Didn't eagles eat fish ? Hm...
"Eagle? well I guess that wouldn't be so bad, maybe if you can fly you can get away from here" she picked up her fork and speared the salad and took a bite.
"I dunno... Don't think I could. I mean, Greer looks like some kind of bird... And Hargun is a bat. Im sure he thought about it... and even then, we're pretty far from any identified coast... We'lld probabely tire out before even reasing a shore." She sighed, glancing at her hands absentmindely, as if they could burst into something different any second now. "At any rates, I guess I will be losing my hands, if im some kind of bird..."
"Hard to say until you start to change, you could fluke out and not even change into anything related to your dream" now that would be a major fluke
"Yeah... Beside im not sure if I wanna know to begin with." She sighed a bit, taking a sip of cola. "It's just all so... I dunno how to explain about it. It's one thing to see it into others, but when I think about it happening to myself, it's almost like if my brain completely knots up."
"Yeah I know what you mean, I know exactly what you mean" she sighed softly, "I hate what they are doing to us" it's not anything she would have wished onto her worst enemy, not even those who called her a paparazi...
"It's a situation no one should be into... Not even the jocks that shoved me in lockers back in high school." She sighed a bit, idely turning her fork into her salad to mix the dressing in. "But I guess talking about it makes it a bit better... I know when I don't let out what I think in one way or another, ill't stay stuck in my head and about drive me crazy."
"Yes, bottling things up can be bad for you. I suppose the only way any of us will get any of that bottled emotions out is to talk, we are all in the same position, so at least we can know where each of us is coming from to some degree" she speared her salad again and munched on the tasteless mouthful
"Yeah..." She nodded to accompbany the word, munching a bit on some turkey before talking again. "We all need to be there for each other, because if we arn't... then who will ?"
"Very very true, who will if not us." she worked on her salad till it was nearly gone "Thank goodness for salad dressing... though I suppose eventually it wont be able to overpower the meat the beast inside me will want"
"Probably..." She sighed a bit. "It's not fair, tho... I mean, it's just..." The words lost themselves before they came out, and she decided to stop while she was ahead, taking a sip.
Joliette finished and put her fork on the plate "Well Kim, it was nice to meet you, and to speak with you... I should get moving it's a touch cool in here... The listing may put me in #27 and #28, my darkroom, but I'm staying with David in #25 if you want to find me" she smiled weakly
"Yeah..." She glanced idely at the psp for the time. "I should head home too... Im in duplex 22... If you need me, just come, allright ? Im in there alot, so..." She managed a smile on her face. "Im here if you need me, okay ?"
Joliette nodded and filed that information in her mind for later "Have a good rest of your christmas Kim" she said softly and stood dropping off her plate then with a small wave headed out
She waved back, picking up her things and finishing with cleaning the table before leaving as well.

Stewart finally emerged from his duplex, he had shut himself up ever since... It made him sick to his stomach even thinking about it. He could no longer stand to look in the mirror, the face that stared back at him was no longer human. He stumbeled outside, looking like a completly different person. His eyes were blood shot red, a mixture of staying up all night and sobbing, his hair had grown a little longer and the once clean shaven priest now wore a white goatee. Stewart let out a choaked sob as he staired at his fingers. How could he still wear the collar? He didn't deserve to wear it anymore. He was no longer a child of God, now he was some horrid spawn of Satan. His fingers fumbeled with the white collar as he finally was able to rip it off. With a loud curse he threw it as far as he could. He had to get away from here. He didn't know where he would go, just as long as he didn't meet anyone else....
It was VERY good to not be sick for once.
With this in mind, Kim was enjoying the air outside, nested against a wall with laptop and ipod blaring mixed music into her ears, typing god only knew what...
Well, until a curse overcame even the music, and she looked up over her glasses to see the father. A cursing priest, that had to be a new one... Her eyes caught something amiss, a mass that shouldn't be on the man's head, and it was only when she lifted her head completely that she noticed that they where horns.
Oh... boy.
Shaking her head a bit to chase a few subborn bangs, she couldn't help herself - ipod and laptop where closed and carefully put in their bags, and she went to him.
"...Hey there, are you allright... ?"
Stupid question, from which she would probabely get a stupid answer, but she didn't care too much. She was sick of seeing people suffering in one way or another here...
Lauren walked towards the priest, listening to her new iPod, given by the doctor, vocally yelling punk music into her pointed ears. She really was in her own little world, oblivious to her surroundings until a weird piece of cloth hit her square in the face.
She stopped stunned for one second, then a rush of anger and adreneline, then she realised who threw the thing.
A. . . was that a PRIEST?!? Lauren held back her laugh. Turning into a GOAT at that, of all things. A smile came over her mouth but she quickly put her hand up over it so no one could tell, removing her earphones and turning off her iPod.
And someone else came up, someone else she didn't know yet. If Lauren had been alone she would have tons of fun with the poor sucker. It would be almost too easy for Lauren to mess with his head. But she was there.
Lauren decided to PLAY the good girl.
Walking up to the priest and the girl with the long hair, Lauren put a false look of concern on her face. She had to keep her tail from wagging. "Wooah, what's the matter. . . is he o.k.?" Lauren asked the girl.
Stewart stopped, his fists clenched, just his luck someone was out today. He was hoping no one would see him like this... He had kept his past life secret, his was starting to fit in! But the this, it was almost too much for him. He looked over at the two girls talking to eachother, the one with the longer hair had spoken to him... But what did she say? He was too busy trying to figure everything out to catch what she said. They were talking about him. He knew it, there they were judging him. Probably planning on how to humilate him. Then remembering his now freak hands, he quickly stuffed them into his pockets.
"I got no idea." She admitted, shaking her head to the blonde. She focused on the priest then, eyes showing a bit of worry. "Are you allright ?" She repeated again, patiently. She gave a push on the black messanger bag that contained her laptop, keeping the strap from falling off her shoulder.
Alright now, more concern. . . show more concern. Lauren said to herself, her concern facade increasing to a really worried but not increasing too much as to say 'tons of anxiety here' that would be too much, maybe later. This whole acting was right up her ally, made her smile on the inside. Yes yes, she knew it was working although the priest spazzing aided in diverting attention away from her facade, making an ocassional smile creep out when attention wasn't towards herself.
She waited quietly for the priest to respond, holding her composure in case the words were all too good to hear.
Was he alright? Was he alright? He closed his eyes for a moment, and tried to collect his thoughts once more. After a few minutes he opened him and looked straight at the dark haired girl "I have been disgraced by the one who I trusted in most. My secrets have caught up with me. I have sinned in the past and now I am paying for it." His eyes grew wide as he stared off in the distance. He dropped down on his knees and tried to speak but his mouth refused to produce any sound. Finally he was able to mutter "Don't leave me here alone, I'm scared..." It was as if he was looking at someone off in the distance, but no one was there
....Ohhhh boy.
Kim's face right there was probabely very priceless - a mix of many emotions and undecision. What to do ? What the hell was she supposed to do ?!? He sounded like he had lost a few marbles...
She sent a glance at Lauren, then followed his insticts, so to say... croutching beside him.
"Im here... You're not alone. I promise." She wouldn't tell him everything was okay. Because things definitively wasn't.
Inside Lauren was bursting with hideous laughter for a short while. . . but it was indeed short lived. An instinct ticked in her head, quieting it down. And then a short split second she was actually a tad concerned.
Another part of that split second, Lauren saw the Priest and thought he was kind of cute.
She shook the thought of her mind, that was indeed just gross. Must be the mongoose again. . . but, oh god's what was she doing?
She found herself, reaching out her clawed hands to hug him. Her musk spraying him slightly. She found herself actually caught up in that hug.
Lauren then imediately retracted. . . a panic in her face. What did she just do? Did she just hug. . . a priest? Why? She didn't WANT to do what she just did. . .
Oooh, s**t. Lauren thought to herself. Of all the times. . . damn mongoose!! Her slitted orange eyes just stared, hoping for some form of escape but her mind stopped at the time leaving nothing to do but just wait.
Stewart almost jumped when the blond girl hugged him. Wasn't she scared by the way he looked? Why were these girls not running away from him? He was almost convinced that no one would ever want to talk to him again, he was sure that it would never happen to him. The changes that affected the others. Finally he said in a very small voice "Aren't you two digusted by the way I look? I'm no longer completly human... I'm turning into a monster, and it scares me."
"Im not." The answer came without a second of hesitation. "I do not judge people by how they look... What's the most important is what they are inside. I have no reasons to be disgusted by you." She smilled softly. "And, following your train of thought... if I did, I would be disgusted by half the island here, by the people I have started to call friends, and eventually at myself, because I know it will happen to me, too. This isn't a life I want to live."
The asian gentely put an hand on the priest's shoulder, leaving the other close to help him up, should he wish to do so and need help. "It's okay to be scared... im scared, too. Not of you, not of the others, but at the situation."
Lauren watched the interaction, she really cared about him and it was helping him. Did she like that? What did she really want?
Her head was spinning again, it hurt terribly bad.
"Yeah, I'm not completly human either, doesn't change who I am. I'm still me. . . I think." Lauren said, forcing the words out through the confusion in her mind. "I think ya look alright. . . for a priest."
This was not where she needed to be, too much conflict and confusion.
"Look, here I'm not feeling well, and it's not you." She said clearly to Stewart. "And it's not you either, please. . . ur help him?" It was almost a question as if she didn't believe she was asking this of someone. "I got to go, I feel sick and Damnit again it's not YOU." Her tail twitched as she ran off just as quickly as she came towards them. "Oh and nearly forgot." She threw the piece of cloth back at the priest, turning to run back towards her duplex again.
Her head was still spinning questioning her concern and her actions. They just weren't normal, weren't hers.
The yellow mongoose is a very social creature.
He caught the collar the girl had throw at him, with a sad smile he placed it in his pocket and stood up. Looking once more at the dark haired girl, he smiled his first true smile in days "Thank you so much for your kind words. I'm sorry I have to leave like this, but I really need to go collect my thoughts." He walked slowly back to his duplex, and wondered where on earth that blonde girl had run off to.
Kim smilled a bit, flicking a bang away and securing the bag strap on her shoulder here again.
"It's okay." She said, not caring weither or not he had heard her as she turned and left as well, heading torward her duplex. A nap seemed a good idea... A whole lot of questions, thoughts, and overall ******** collided in her head.

That night, at 3am on the dot, there is a LOUD sound of an explosion, originating from the sky above the Island. Looking out, or anyoune outside would look up to see a brief fireball in the sky. Following that, any power that is on begins to flicker, going through a few brownouts before finally shutting down altogether. If you happen to be awake at that point - you would notice all the lights around you, any electronic equipment that wasn't battery operated flicker and die. However, within a few seconds of the final powersurge and failure, you find yourself being pulled into a forced unconsciousness.
When you wake up, it is midafternoon the following day, though it would vary within a few hours depending on the individual. You are NOT in your duplex. You wake up to find yourself near the mountain base.
All of the buildings on the island are in 'shutdown' mode. This means that everything is locked tight. If you attempt to force your way into any of the buildings, your own duplex and the Town Hall included, then you will find that from the outside at the very least, they are impenetrable. If any window was broken - it is now fixed. All of the lights are off - in every building. Even the electric fence surrounding the main laboratory is turned off - though still closed. Attempts to break into the main complex will be met with equal lack of luck as breaking into a duplex or the town hall.
The only items you have on you are the items that you would have been wearing when you were asleep/fell unconscious: including clothing and perhaps a few battery-powered electronics IF You would have been wearing them. That's it. Everything else is where you left it - if it was in your duplex, it still is and you can't get to it.
There is no sign of what happened to the staff. The labs are quiet from the outside.
Welcome to the Wild.

Jamal had always been a heavy sleeper...the explosions on the outside were merely interpretted as something in his dreams and he snorted heavily and rolled over, the light flickerings not affecting him in the least for the same reason. Little did he know just what he was going to experience when he woke.
--------------------------
Chirp.
Chirp chirp chirp.
Jamal grunted and rolled over, feeling a soft ache swelling in his head like the beginnings of a headache, a hand moving to fumble clumsily for his blanket. It was a bit chilly, which was odd, as he hadn't been cold once since his arrival at the island. When his hand met nothing except a surface that was uncharacteristically sharp and hard, he furrowed his brow and tried on the other side. Dammit, did he pass out on the table again?
Cheep. Cheep chirp.
The black man grumbled, eyes still closed, as he couldn't seem to find his blanket. Dammit...he had to be on the table. How in the hell did THAT happen? And what was making that godawful chirping noise? ******** birds? He really needed to get that window fixed.
CHIRP.
"OW WHAT DA ******** bolted upright as a sharp, stabbing pain to his right n****e struck, eyes flying open quickly enough to see a large bird of some sort jump back a few feet and stand with it's wings partial flared...a long-legged bird of some kind. What the ********?! Had that thing just bit his man boob?!
He was a little more than confused as he soon realized that he was not in his duplex nor anywhere that he even recognized. The open air all around him except for one side, which was solid rock, made him flare his nostrils in a mild panic and he skittered back against the earlier mentioned rock as soon as he also realized that he was on the very edge of a high cliff.
Chirp. Chirp Cheep Chuuurit! The bird cocked it's head and reached out with it's sharp beak to try and pick at Jamal's toes. The black man would have crawled into the mountain if he was able, but instead he kicked the air wildly at the avian and shouted, eyes flashing angrily.
"GIT DA ******** AWAY YOU ********' BUZZARD," he bellowed, grabbing a handful of gravel and throwing it as hard as he could at the bird. The large avian skittered back a few more paces and would have given Jamal a reproachful look if it was able. Instead, it made a loud screech noise and decided to relieve itself right here on the cliff, then turned to pick at a pile of sticks that had to be a nest of some sort. Jamal grunted and rubbed at his face, glancing down at the rock that he sat upon, and realized it was covered in bird feces.
"UGH. UGH UGH UGH s**t WHAT DA ********?!" he screamed, jumping to his feet, which were bare. "Ohhhhhhh Jesus ********' CHRIST!" He started to do a badly imitated tap dance around the cliff as he sought to find a place that wasn't digusting, a look of absolute rage plasted on his broad features. This was NOT funny and someone was going to die as soon as he figured out what was going on.
Finding a place that was somewhat clean, he sat back down and stared in disbelief over the cliff to look at the jungle and buildings below....he was so high up. In a way, it reminded him of the time he went up in skyscrapers back in Detriot...but...this wasn't the same. None of this made any sense.
Chreeep. Cheep...chript!
"SHUT DA ******** UP." Jamal whirled around, fist waving, and scowled at the bird, which had snuck up behind him and was then reaching out to tug on the little tails of his cornrows which were woefully out in the open air thanks to the fact his du-rag (and tank for that matter), where in his duplex. The bird honked and strutted away skillfully from the black man's waving limb as though random men appeared on it's ledge every day.
His fists clenched as he beat his knuckles on the rock below, a sudden temper flaring. What the hell. WHO thought this was funny? Did they know who they were messing with?!
This called for a smoke. A good, long...very intoxicating smoke.
Thankfully he had worn his jeans to bed, as was common for him, and he was relieved to find his pockets still had joints in them, wrapped carefully in their usual bandana fragment. The gun lighter was still present also, ********' b*****d...someone gonna die when I get off this ********' mountain so HELP ME ********' GOD," he screamed into the open air before jamming the blunt between his lips and lighting it, having difficulty because it was windy up there and his hands were shaking both from nerves and from sheer anger.
Chreeeeep.
Jamal whirled and snarled at the bird, clamping the joint firmly in his mouth as he hauled himself from sitting to all fours, then to a two-legged run as the avian skittered away. The bird squawked and flailed it's wings before it evaded the black man's hands by taking to the air, sailing effortlessly off and away higher up the mountain. Jamal's chest heaved from the sudden movement, hands still raised as though he was going to choke the s**t out of something. They were eventually lowered when Jamal came back to his senses and he returned to the semi-clean spot on the cliff, puffing on his joint like a wounded child.
Someone was going to pay for this. Oh yes.
He bellowed another string of nonsensical swearing, probably loud enough for anyone near the mountains to hear, as it would probably echo something fierce.
As for Kim ? Well asleep by the time the explosion occured... awaken by the noise, only to be knocked out before she could grap what was going on.
------------------------------------------------------
"GIT DA ******** AWAY YOU ********' BUZZARD,"
The sound resonated and echoed, making the form on the opposite end stir sightly... She was laying on the rocks, hairs covering most of the body almost like a blanket... old white, hole-ridden fabric seen, as well as pink panties. On her side was strapped a small bag... containing tester, stips, insulin, and everything else she needed. She was used to waking up in the middle of the night in panic with low blood sugar... Her caution was probably her saving grace, the situation in mind.
Where an I and who is screaming... It was the first thought that entered her mind as she noticed her face was against something hard... Brown eyes opening to see rocks, taking in a sharp breath of surprise and managing to sit, vincing as her feet laid on the shap rocks.
"....What the HELL ?!?" Kim rarely cussed, in english anyway, but now seemed like a good time to start. Where was she ?!? It was too real to be a dream... too real. And she was shaking too much for it to be a dream.
She knew exactly what her problem was... her first reflex was going to the bag and preparing the sringue the best she could, giving a few more colorful words as she missed her vein a few times before the needle finally entered the skin where it was intended. She threw the whole back in the bag once she was done, huddeling against the side of the mountain, waiting for her shakes to calm down. She couldn't do much in the meanwhile - coerent thinking itself seemed out of the question.
Jamal heard nothing coming from the lower part of the mountain, his own colorful language overflowing the air before him as he screamed and yelled between puffs on his joint. Rocks flung off into the open air as he was able to grab them, sailing down towards the jungle and mountain bottom without a care for what or who might be down there. He was stuck. ******** stuck on a huge rock full of bird ********' jesus christ I'm gonna tear dat red-haired b***h apart wit' ma bare hands," he snarled in reference to Aubrey, finding her to be the only true staff person he could put a face too. If he had ever met Moreau, it'd be different, but Aubrey would have to do.
His temper curbed only slightly as the intoxicating drug began to work on his system.
Kim simpely watched as rocks found their way down, thanksfully none landing near her. She glanced upward... nothing but a mountain... of course. But someone had to be there... Birds didn't quite cuss and b***h that way.
She still didn't dare to move... that is, until something... felt on her shoulder. She wished it was a rock... But it was white. And smelled... like s**t.
...
"AUUUUUGGGGHHHHHH EW EW EW EW EW EWWWWWWWW !!!!" She wailed at the top of her lungs, grapping a rock and ignoring her own shaking as she tried to whipe the bird s**t off her t-shirt. Thankfully the hole was on the OTHER shoulder...
Jamal grumbled, losing steam slowly yet surely as he was comforted by the gentle wrapping of a high, eyes still narrowed harshly as he stared off into the distance. How the hell was he going to get home? Seriously, this was not even funny.
"AUUUUUGGGGHHHHHH EW EW EW EW EW EWWWWWWWW !!!!"
The black man paused, joint held daintily in the air just past his lips as he heard some sort of high-pitched garble of noises echoing up from somewhere below him. What the hell?
He shifted forward onto his hands and knees, the joint returned to his lips, and crawled forward on the bird-s**t covered cliff to peer over the edge, looking for the source. He couldn't see down all that far, as ledges and whatnot obscured the view pretty well....but someone had to be there.
Ignoring the fecal matter, he flopped onto his chest and tried to hang over the edge of the cliff a little more to get a better view. Had he not been somewhat high, he probably would have NEVER done that, but it seemed like a good idea right then.
Right now, the notion that there had to be someone up on the mountain was far lost in Kim's mind, as she finished scraping off what she could and threw the rock as far as she could. She had yet to bother trying to put a name on the voice, as well...
She rested her head on her knees, mumbeling something in her mother tongue as her body started to finally calm down... and her mind starting to awaken.
There had been a big, huge noise... then nothing. What the hell had happened.
Then she remembered hearing things at the top of the mountain.
She slowly worked herself to her feet, hissing a bit each time she took a step, distancing herself in hope to be able to distinguish something.
But without her glasses, all she could make out where blurry blotches of color...
Jamal peered down over the cliff edge, sliding forward slowly inch by inch, unaware of the dangerous thing that he was really doing. Was that...
"WHO DA ******** BE DAT?" he roared, seeing movement far, far below, slipping a little as he exhaled and scrabbling backwards rapidly so more of his body was on the rock, not hanging over the rock face. Wow, that was close.
It was then he realized that the joint he had been smoking was missing and was flittering downward towards the mountain's base, flicking ash away into the wind as it fell. The black man watched the tiny white stick disappear from sight with a very forlorn expression on his face, forgetting that someone was down there.
The scream made the small girl tense and sent a chill trough her spike... She almost dashed off running right then.
Stay calm... Stay calm... If I panic ill't only get worse...
She wasn't listening to her own advice very well.
"KIM !" She yelled back in answer, eyes narrowing as if it could somehow give them some focus. Brown... ...Brown !!!! She knew only one guy with brown skin on the island... But her lack of precise sight did not tell her how dangerously he was laying.
"JAMAL, THAT'S YOU ?!?"
They probabely looked and sounded very stupid, but she couldn't care less.
"HOW MANY OTHA' ********' NIGGAS YOU KNOW ON DIS GODDAMN ********' ISLAND," came the very loud, very irrate snarl from above.
Jamal was very unhappy. Not only had he woke on a bird-s**t cliff in the middle of nowhere, but he'd lost his blunt and was being asked stupid questions. He slapped the offending rock surface with open palms and seethed quietly.
This so better not be turning into a horror flick...because the black guy ALWAYS was the first to die. It was an unspoke rule in situations like this.
Kim hmphed a bit in answer, too soft for him to hear.
Well thank you gumpy mc grump...
Somehow, heaven only knew how, she managed not to b***h him off un return, only giving an eyeroll.
Hearing nothing in response, Jamal set off in another long string of obscene language and heaved himself forward again over the cliff edge, again peering down at the blurry form way below him.
"HOW DA ******** DID YOU GET OFF SO EASY?" he called, his voice very clearly showing the fact that he thought that whomever had chose their waking places wanted to really screw with him.
...Get off.
Uh.
"I DUNNO, I WOKE UP HERE AND THEN A BIRD SHAT ON MY FREAKING SHOULDER !" Screw politeness, after all. "I WAS ALLREADY DOWN !" Impossible that she had felt... from this high, she would probably have broke something.
Jamal said something to the effect of "GRRAAAAAAAAAAAAAGHHHHH" and beat the stone again before sliding backwards out of view, standing up on bare feet once more, and tried to decide how to get down. He'd have to climb, obviously, but that was a HELLUVA long way down. It'd take hours, to be sure, if he could even find a path. The way the rocks jutted out and about, it was going to prove to be dangerous.
But he didn't know that, being high as a kite. Hell, as he looked over the edge, he could have saw an escalator straight to the bottom...it didn't look like it'd be all that hard to him at all. Hell, he could even jump down...
He'd die in the process, but it seemed like a good idea.
The black man casually let a foot dangle off the edge of the cliff as he considered that idea, very clearly not in the right mind.
But then, Kim didn't see a thing... well, not clearly enough to be 100% sure of what the hell he was doing, anyway. But the blurry shapes where enough to seriously send her into wondering what the ******** was going on.
She could ask, really... But she really, really, REALLY didn't feel like putting up with the smartass answer she was likely to get in return, and damnitall she wasn't his mother. Right now confusion and annoyance where taking over her usually pretty tame and careful nature, yet she still looked trough the mountain to try to see if there was a possible way down... Because she sure as hell wasn't going UP.
Jamal continued to tempt fate, letting his leg swing over the edge as he started to daydream. If only he had caught that bird...then he could hold onto it's legs and float down while it flew. Yeah...it worked in that one movie, right? Obviously he wasn't not thinking rationally.
"OKAY IMMA JUMP DOWN," he said suddenly, his voice vaguely slurred as he prepared to sail over the cliff edge.
No problem, right?
....WHAT THE ******** ?!?
...
"IT'S WAY TOO DAMN HIGH TO JUMP DOWN !!!" ******** being the local Capitain Obivious, visibely he couldn't even use his sorry HEAD right now. "USE YOUR GOD DAMN HEAD, WILL YA ?!?"
Why did s**t like this always happen to HER ? Aughhh...
...
stare...
"...ON THE LEFT, IT LOOKS LIKE THERE'S A PATH."
God, you asshat, take the freaking path...
Jamal paused as he was gathering himself up for a 'simple' jump off the cliff, a brow lifted dangerously high so it almost disappeared into his cornrows.
"WHY DA ******** NOT?" he retorted, arms crossing over his bare chest as he teetered unsteadily. "It ain't..."
He paused, looking over the cliff, and swallowed "dat far", seeing a little more clearly now just how HIGH up he was. Okay, so maybe jumping wasn't a good idea.
The indication of a path to his left made him whirl. A path? Where?...
Oh, duh. It was over where that ******** nasty bird was nest building. No wonder he didn't see it.
Without a word of thanks, he started to tromp down it, cursing something fierce under his breath. It was going to take awhile for him to get all the way down, sober or not.
Kim was about to scream back, but then she saw him start to come down and sighed a bit out of relief, her mind almost completely blocking out the curses by now, with how sick she was of hearing them.
Oh thank GOD.
She muttered something herself, hoping he would keep on thinking straight and glancing around more of her surroundings, trying to figure out where they where and where the duplexes where...
Whoever had done this to them was very ******** in the head.
b***h b***h b***h.
That's all Jamal did as he wound his way down the mountain, disappearing for long spans as the path cut him back further against the mountain-face and the sparce plant-life that had manifested itself there. On the way, he lit up another joint, deciding that the first had lived a charmed life and he'd never see it again.
It was a very long time...nearly and hour and a half before he came into view again, maybe three stories or so worth of height above her. He was bleeding from a forearm, had a scrape on his face, and had a hole ripped in the knee of the jeans on the same side as the scrape on face and forearm. Turns out that one isn't so graceful when they're high...he'd tripped over a rock outcropping and fell.
He hardly seemed bothered by it, however. He continued to puff greedily on the tiny stub of what remained of the long-extinguished joint, not realizing he wasn't getting anything out of it.
And Kim waited, she wasn't really sure why... Probabely because she had no idea where she was and that she couldn't see jack s**t anyway.
She had managed to calm down, mostly, at least... ignoring the blasted joint as she went to him, in case he needed help.
"You're okay... ?" She asked, then trailed a bit, glancing at her surroundings again, helplessly. "You got any idea where the village is from here ?"
"Mmmfine," he grunted, pawing irritably at the drying blood on his cheek, as he spit the remaining joint piece to the rocky earth and joined her at the bottom. "Jus' a lil' fall."
He wavered slightly as he stood there, a blank look on his face as he thought about he question. The village...the village....
OH.
"Ummmm ova' there," he said, oh so helpfully, waving his arms in a wide arc in front of him, looking very much glassy-eyed.
That... wasn't... helping.
She knew better than ask again, at least that's what she thought, trying to focus in the vague direction Jamal had waved at.
Damnit damnit damnit damnit...
"...Let's just go back... The ******** bird s**t is just.... yerk."
"Oh, I dunno. I thought da bird s**t was ********' awesome maself," he said very sarcastically, stumbling off suddenly in a lurching walk towards the forest as if he knew where he was going. He didn't have any idea, ********' b*****d...I'mma gut them sonovabitches I swear..."
And Kim's best bet was to follow... So she did just that, mumbeling to herself a bit before becoming sillent, focusing on not losing him from view.
Jamal managed to find some sort of path through the trees, but it wasn't a man-made one...it was just one that formed due to how the plant-life grew. He had NO idea where he was going. Did he care? Not really.
All the while he continued to talk to himself in grunts and curses, pausing now and then to take his agression to a small sapling or a bush, pummeling it with punches or tearing fragile branches from ******** dis island. ******** dis island 'n ev'ryone on it," he mumbled to himself, stopping to lean against a tree to catch his breath. The cuts on his arm stung painfully, only making him more angry and bitter.
Getting better and better by the freaking second...
She stopped when he did, sliding on the side of a tree until she wound up sitting, not minding the scratches it made along her back. While he destroyed the wildlife, she would damn well BROOD.
Damnit, she wanted to be HOME and not here and and and...
Eventually she got sick of this, got up, and went ahead on her own, ******** the consequences. He didn't seem to know more about the surroundings than she did, anyway.
Jamal ignored her as she started off on her own. He'd get himself out of here! He was invincible! He was strong! He was...he was...really...high. 8D
He moved forward where he was, adding distance between himself and Kim.

Kim didn't even KNOW how long she had been lost and going in circles in this jungle. The sun had came up and down a few times... it was about all she knew, at part of her simpely didn't WANT to know.
She also very much thanked god for mangoes... even if she was getting a bit sick of eating them.
She was dirty, her long hairs having clumps of dried mud in them, but figured that a trip in the river wouldn't amount to much when she would just get dirty again in a blink... so she had decided to go for the nice, complete clean once she got back to her duplex.
At whole, she was very glad nothing had tried to eat *her* yet. She had heard animal sounds, but no animal themselves yet.
When the clean cuts of buildings took form in the distance, Kim forgot how much her feet hurted like hell and started to run torward the village. Finally ! Hopefully she wasn't hallucinating...
She wasn't, but she noticed something odd the second she came in. There where no lights open... no sign of life.
And when she finally reached her building... the door simpely refused to open.
Great. Just... GREAT.
She muttered something to herself, then went to see if she could find some more mangoes... or another kind of fruits around here. And there she had thought her outdoor adventure was over...
She also hoped she could find someone - someone hopefully not as high as a ******** kite - that could tell her the basics of what the ******** was going on.

Still no one in sight... But that was probably a good thing, since Kim was still far from being an happy camper, and then she wouldn't drive anyone but herself insane with her bitching.
Sick of mangoes, sick of freaking bananas, almost no insulin left, bleeding... oh yes, this was all WONDERFUL. A rushed grass skirt/pantie mix and a few chopped shirt stripes up her... ...let's not mention... took decent care of the last offence, at least for now.
That partly explained why she had turned into the reclusive hagqueen of bitchland. She was still, very, very, VERY pissed off, mostly at the last of the brought up issues than the repetitions of meals.
She WOULD need to find someone soon... Just to show she wasn't dead or for safety, in case of low-blood sugar, but right now Kim didn't expecially care. Everything just SUCKED and it would be much better if she could load up a violent game and just blast everything that moved into dust.
Things couldn't get worse than this...
...right... ?
She curled up against the palmtree topped with leaves that was her semi-shelter in case of rain, and slowly felt her eyes flutter closed. She had not slept for a bit... the noises kept her awake. Who knew if some thing wouldn't pop up and decide to find her appetizing... Another thing that strenghtned the "I need to find the others, damnit" promto.
Find the others, and probably cry her as off a bit before any of them could notice.
Even with how tired she was, she still couldn't sleep... So she simpely laid there, eyes closed, listening to the sounds and the wind until her body finally gave in to sleep.

((Even as your insulin supply is running low (or even when it eventually runs out) your insulin level never seems to get dangerously low. When you sleep, you wake up to find yourself rested and feeling much better. Even if you happen to pass out from insulin shock, you come back, feeling refreshed.))
However, the next day, as you're wandering, you see something very odd. Browsing some of the leafy plants idly in the woods, not even really seeming to mind your presence, is a creature about the size of a small deer. In fact, for the most part it appears to be very doe-like.... save for the feathers that line its back and travel down its forelimbs. Fanning out behind it is a birdlike tail. And, as you approach, it turns quickly to look at you - and you see a really... disturbing face. What was once its teeth have pushed forward out of its mouth and fused together in a yellowish mass. It clacks its beaklike teeth at you a few times before walking stilted-ly away.
