Aah, you're serious?

I have no quabble with the French, or any nationality, for that matter. I never believe stereotypes. I simply think people are people, and as such, will be lazy, kind, arrogant, depressed, loving, rude, honest... etc., etc., etc.

In other words, they'll be whatever they choose to be.

Just cause they're French doesn't mean they're stuck up. It's just the same as the American stereotype. Just because I'm American doesn't mean I'm fat. 'Cuz I'm not. razz

Lol, yeah stereotypes are never anything anyone should ever believe about anybody. I mean, up here in Canada we have some pretty bad stereotypes about the American people in general...and here's living proof that the stereotype doesn't apply to everybody. 3nodding

*puts up hand* Je m'escuse ma chere, mais je suis tres francais si vous plait... Yeah I know my French spelling is bad, but I speak it better than I write it. Which is ironic considering I read it better than I speak it... but anyways, yes, I'm VERY french. In fact my grandfather was the last person in my family to speak French as a first language. As such I'm trying to become fluent in the language but seeing as how I live in BC, it's hard to get practice.
I don't hate everbody, and I especially don't hate Americans. Which is funny because my OTHER grandfather was an American.... I DO have a seething hate for your government though, and it seems that the further south I travel the more ignorant Americans seem to get, but no, I don't hate you guys.
I really must know though, are you aware how ignorant and offensive your government is? The news too! Holy crap, that east indian woman responsible for the lumber tarrifs affair (I can't recall her name) is the most infuriating peice of crap I've ever seen! She and the 2 CNN personalities took a good portion of there news segment to make fun of BC in a segment called 'What's the Problem, eh?' in which they mocked us for complaining about a f3% loss in lumber profits. They claimed that nobody was suffering from the losses. Well, it just so happens that there are over 300 nobodies (I can't recall the number but it was quite substantial) who are out of work due to lumber mills being closed over that measily 3%.
You see due to the fact that America has a population roughly 10 times that of Canada, and more space is used, more money is being generated in your country. Canada....not so much. In reality to us it was like losing 30% of our lumber trade. But since we're not American it's obviously no problem right? Manifest destiny and all that? Bah, it';s not so much a hate of Americans as we're bloody tired of having your government shaft us......
But ANYWAY, I'm also half 'euro-mutt' and that leaves be partially German. So I suppose the one thing your little stereo-type explains is my deep self-loathing...LOL.
Wow, I'm sorry about this. This isn't meant to sound angry or anything. On a lighter note I have been asked some interesting questions by southern Americans; 'do you know how funny your accent sounds? Why don't you speak american? So like, do you have running water? Hey, is this some kind of heat wave, there's no snow?' (it was 30 degrees celcius) Ironically I've also been asked most of these questions by Canadians while I was in Quebec with the addition of 'do you get Nickleback in BC (which they are from! Chad Kreuger lives here...) Is it still snowy in BC (in july) and one was modified to, 'if you're really Canadian then how come you don't speak French?' (to which I replied 'Je parle francais juis bein merci, tu stupide merde-tete!' Excuse my bad spelling....)

LOL Honestly I've met many intelligent americans, so there's hope for the good ol' US of A, but honestly, when you look at your nation from an outsiderls POV some things in your nation are scary, and a little suspicious. *cough 1812! cough* I don't know if it's been changed, but it at least USED to be that the war of 1812 was not fully covered in an American's education until they were in college. This is of course the only war in which the USA had their capital sacked....ever....by Canadians. That children is why the 'white house', is white; because a bunch of pissed off French-Canadians were tired of being shot at by angry corn growers and drunken Irish immigrants. Well, okay there was more to it then that but sweet jesus, this fpost is long enough! LOL

Wow. That was just about the most witty and humble diss on Americans I've ever seen. That was great. XD heart

And in all actuality, I think other countries have a right to "not like" our government. (By the way, our constitution was almost entirely based on English Tradition... MUAHAHAHAHA MAY OUR ROOTS BE KNOWN. WE ARE SPAWN OF THE ENGLISH. >D)

I, on the other hand, have no problem with our government. I mean, certainly, we have bad foreign relations at the moment, because doesn't agree with us. And of course, our constitution has imperfections. Whose doesn't? May I even go so far as to say this:

Some of the international criticisms against America seem hypocritical to me. But, then again, that's just me. Just like, other's not-so-positive opinions of America -- it's just them.

My main point here is that everyone's opinion is flawed, to at least a certain degree. And there will always be differences in opinion. Nothing's wrong with that. Besides, we're all people, right? x3

*stares at Hobo for a while before snapping out of dreamy haze* Hmm?

Haha, nah anyway about this whole not liking the Americans business. Yes, I too have gotten many a stupid question from the inhabitants of said country ('Do you have a pet beaver?) and have actually convinced some of a polar bear invasion in Toronto (sad but true). Anyways, yes, from the Canadian perspective there are A LOT of things to not like about The United States (like the fact that their constitution or whatever pretty much assumes that Canada will some day see the light and join the country) and yes it is true that we're tired of the stupid questions and the inconsiderate bludgeoning. But on the up side, uhh........ok nevermind.

And about Quebec....yes well, even in Canada we English speaking citizens have our own quabbles with Quebec (especially here in Ontario). It's hard to understand, unless you live here, the big caboodle about it all but it suffices to say that Ontarians have a certain stereotype of Quebecers as well.

That said....

Which other male in the guild is at least in part German? xd

I'm SO TOTALLY French Canadian. My father's first language was French, and I'm now an officially certified bilingual.

*points to newly-acquired certificate*

I got a superior level on comprehension and spoken language, thank you very much. mrgreen

*beams*

Actually... most Acadians are assumed to have really bad grammar, and to speak a weird combo of French and English. Heh... My grandfather says things like:

"I came down the stairs and I was looking for my bottes, tu sais? An' when I open' the closet, there zey were... Gone!"

Annie, I told you that there was petition against seal hunting in Alberta once, in the OoC chat? Um, Alberta is landlocked. It's all flat praries and stuff. Well... mostly.

I wasn't sure whether or not you believed me. X_x;

I also once convinced someone that the timbit was an animal. O.o

Okay sorry, but I just have to get one more anti-american complaint thingy in anabout the lumber tariffs. Does anybody else find it odd that they allowed a bill to be passed that violates the AMERICAN FREE-TRADE LAW by charging the tariffs in the first place but once Canada complained about it THEN they felt the need to adhere to the fact that a law oncfe passed cannot be erased only adjusted? ...But oh sweet jesus don't get me started on the Canadian immigration laws..... You know what? I'm not anti-american, I'm anti-people! ^_^

Well, I learned all the zones (zones? Um... states? Provinces? crying ), capitals, and history of Canada back in ninth grade, but I don't really remember very much of it... except, of course, the stuff I found interesting. Like... Saskatchawan. I really like that name.

HANYWAY.

Shazz. I've missed my favorite Canadian. crying heart

I did believe you, actually. I'm sure I would'a noticed that Alberta was land-locked at some point in my life, but yeah. I guess we're square now, since you didn't know where my home state of OREGON was. xD
