"Oh..." Melody murmurs quietly, biting her lip. She didn't mean to make him feel bad about himself at all. And... and it really wasn't that noticeable! Honest! Melody had to look very very hard, and even then, she--

...

And then, Melody's sudden surprise and confusion form a wedge and drive themselves downward to further widen the cultural gap between the two Porcelain. She has never before seen a man use so much makeup!

Well. She corrects herself. She HAS, actually, in her favorite, most cherished memory! When she was such a small child and she'd decided to host a tea party in Great Grandfather Tsutsu's house for one of the girls who'd just been adopted. But Tsubei had been through so very much, and she'd been uncomfortable with, Melody assumes, so much attention focused on her.

But the important thing was that Great Grandfather was such a bigbig lover of chocolate that he quickly fashioned a beautiful dress, pinned his hair up, and delicately painted his face like a beautiful lady, and he played along with Melody!

Well. There was also Daddy and Uncle Teh Silver and she thinks Uncle Gongjin, too, but they were not so happy to be shoved into dresses. The mental image of her father, dwarfed by frills but enduring it for the sake of his littlelittle daughter...! Melody can't help projecting that precise image as she giggles sweetly behind one hand.

Hitsuga gave a small chuckle in spite of himself as he allowed his mind to form its own picture of the party in question -- several unwilling grown men placating a young girl's whims.

He'd been in the process of beginning to explain that, as a merchant, he was often the first thing people saw when entering his shop, and as such, valued his appearance in order to give customers a favorable impression of both himself and the goods he offered, as did most people in his occupation.

.....this, however, did not quite complete itself beyond its beginnings as a image that was not his own shoved itself into his mind, effectively knocking the hamster clear off its wheel to wander in aimless circles. He recognized that person, hidden as he was in pretty frills....

Oranges, pomegranates, and leeks went bouncing and rolling quietly across the tiled floor as one dark eye twitched a bit, not noticing he had just spilled half of his groceries.

Melody shrieks as the groceries hit the floor, dropping to her hands and knees as quickly as she can manage and crawling after the rolling fruit, all the while projecting panicked, almost frenzied apologies. Oh no no no no no no no, this is all her fault! No no no, orange, don't roll under that shelf!

She'll leave the leeks; thankfully, those can't get very far. But the fruit-- oh, why did they have to be ROUND?
PostPosted: Thu May 07, 2009 4:53 am

Her shriek jolts him out of his momentary shock and he, likewise, quickly drops to the floor to try and pick up the groceries himself, his own apologies meeting and clashing with hers in, if any other empaths were nearby, what probably sounds to be an incomprehensible WALL of "sorry"s and "no I'll get it"s and "please don't trouble yourself"s

Please, he implores. Lady Melody doesn't need to be crawling around in her condition, it is his mess! He'll get it, he promises!! gonk Stupid. Stupid. Clumsy. STUPID. He is so SORRY!

But Melody is the one who startled Hitsuga! So really, it's HER fault and REALLY, she's fine and she's so so sorry! Stupid stupid blabbermouth saying things that don't need to be said stupid she's so SORRY! gonk
PostPosted: Thu May 07, 2009 5:17 am

No, no, Lady Melody is NOT stupid! He is always this way, getting scared by silly harmless things and upsetting other people...!

His mind awash with self-depreciating notions and heated humiliation, his eyes scan the floor settling on an apple that he leans out to retrieve and put back in the basket where it belongs.

And as Melody desperately attempts to reassure him that she isn't upset but that yes, she really IS to blame for all of this, she doesn't even notice that Hitsuga is leaning for the same apple she's reaching for.

KONK.

It's a DAMN good thing Melody has a hard head, though Hitsuga might not be so lucky...
PostPosted: Thu May 07, 2009 5:28 am

The frantic projections and cloud of worried emotions immediately cease as his vision is momentarily dazzled with stars. Hitsuga sits back on his haunches, rubbing at his now-aching forehead dazedly.

Ouch....

He blinks his eyes several times, his gaze looking immediately to Melody to ensure she's all right, that she isn't hurt, and then....down to the apple that neither of them had succeeded in picking up.

.....this was all a bit ridiculous, wasn't it...?

Melody rubs her forehead with the palm of her hand, squeezing her eyes shut as the projections of "ow ow ow" fade to sheepishness, which quickly gives way to amusement.

And then she bursts into giggles. Here they were, grown, having an argument like children (Perhaps in reverse, seeing as how they weren't insisting it was the OTHER'S fault), crawling around on the floor of the supermarket, and then, as if that weren't enough, bonking heads like a couple of stooges!

He bites his lip as he hears her start to laugh, at first thinking she's laughing at him. This is no way for him to behave. Not in Gaia, not back home....

Though it begins to dawn on him its not him she's laughing at, so much as the situation. She seems to have found it equally ridiculous.

Hitsuga clings steadfastly to indignation for a moment. He should be mortified. He should apologize to this poor woman properly for being such a child.

....that is what he tells himself, but Melody's mirth is catching. And it is not every day he's offered a mirrored image into the frantic mess he becomes when he drowns someone else in apologies for something he's done or thinks he's done....

His countenance wavers, and then dissolves into a helpless snort that breaks into chuckles.

Melody continues giggling, her projections light, playful, bubbly, and perhaps smattered with the occasional ":B" that betrays her parentage.

It's been a while since she laughed like this! Though maybe, that isn't such a BAD thing, she notes, holding her sides. Ow. Hahaha.
PostPosted: Thu May 07, 2009 6:06 am

Hitsuga abandons himself to laughter for just a moment, hiding the bulk of it behind a hand. Thinking on it fleetingly, its been a long time since he's laughed -- REALLY laughed -- at anything at all.

When he gets a reign on himself again, he feels better, the fingers of anxiety having loosed their hold on his throat. Taking a deep breath, smoothing his mental composure once more, he picks up the apple that was the cause of it all and sets it safely in his basket, rising to his feet.

Offering Melody a hand if she should need it to get up herself, he projects one last apology, this one twinged with light amusement rather than panic. The reason, he explains, he was startled wasn't because of Melody's talking, but because he didn't realize he'd met her father before. sweatdrop

Melody first reaches for the shopping cart to steady herself-- bad idea. She finally takes Hitsuga's hand and pulls herself to her feet, grateful for the assistance.

And oh...

Melody's expression grows serious. Hitsuga's reaction, then... does that mean Daddy has been causing trouble again?
PostPosted: Thu May 07, 2009 6:23 am

He blinks, a bit off-put by the sudden seriousness of her expression. Oh dear...did he have a history of this sort of thing? His aim wasn't to light any fuses.

No, not TROUBLE, really....

Her father was, actually, the first Porcelain he'd seen upon arriving in this world. Which hadn't, admittedly, been under the best circumstances, he explains.

He had just scared him a little, that was all, and he hadn't expected to run into a daughter of his.

Melody should probably apologize; Daddy's been acting a little strange lately.

Well, not that he wasn't always a little strange; Melody's daddy is quite silly, she hopes Hitsuga realizes. But maybe he's been a little moreso lately, so maybe it's best that Hitsuga takes whatever her Daddy does with a grain of sand, mm?

Judging from her expression and worry, not to mention her frequent mention of "Daddy" this and "Daddy" that more than her husband, nieces, or even HERSELF, it would seem that the number one seat at the very forefront of Melody's thoughts is firmly occupied by Boyan.
