Lina jabbed her hands into the base of her neck. Giving up on hiding anything, a part of her felt she should trust her new cousin to hear this as well. Lina's hair was behind held away from the self inflicted wound and something could be seen in the mess she made of herself.
"If I am... just pull this out and break it."

Reeve sighs again, sharply, casting his eyes down, not wanting to look.
"And what...exactly, is that?"

Something in Lina's voice didn't seem right with what she said.

"Like a gun still fires without the pin, or a car starts without the alternator? Please. I'm not breaking that thing," Reeve says, shaking his head dismissively.

Lina formed a ball of light and started to manipulate it to heal the injury.
"Besides there's already one Demon like what I could become here. I'd rather not live with the memories of what I would do if it got control of me."

Reeve frowns.
"Gorram demons, mechs, whatever next? I promise I'll do all I can for you should that happen, but here's to hoping it doesn't..."
He raises his bottle and takes a swig.

She chuckled and took another sip.

Reeve slides down the wall into a sitting position, looking up at her.
"Do you think all this crap would just stop if we went into retirement? Like all of us?"

"Meh, I can retire from this job, but I still have to wait another..."
Lina fiddled around with her belt till she pulled her pocket watch out. She fiddled with it for a few moments and a fourth ring appeared while the hands shifted, the new ring was still just about at the starting point, and seemed that way to anything short of a microscope.
"... You know... I honestly don't know how long..."
She flipped the watch closed.
"Of course that assumes time travel doesn't come into play anyway."
She tilted her head back.
"Besides retirement sucks, tried it, kept picking up hobbies. You should check out my How-to database, or where I dumped all the projects sometime."
She had a silly grin on her face as she stood up and stretched out. She proceeded to adjust her shirt a few times afterwords, unsure what to say.

Psyche finally speaks up. And as she does so, she raises her bottle of tea into the air for emphasis.
"Retirement is for wusses!"
She flips over on the couch, somehow avoids spilling her tea, and peeks over the arm rest at Lina and Reeve.
"Besides, what fun is there in retirment? Did you know most people physically and mentally deteriorate faster once they go into retirement? Why I never stopped doing what I do."

"Deteriorate faster my bleedin' arse- most of us are dead two and three times over. I just.. Sometimes I wonder how the ones that got away from all this- how they're doing, you know? It's like I can't find a comfortable way to sleep anymore, and I stay up, thinking 'I could have been an English teacher' or some such."

Lina moved over towards the couch, sitting down and leaning against it while sitting on the floor so she'd be eye level with Reeve still.

Psyche raises a brow.
"English teacher? Nah. I agree with Lina. A bland classroom and drooling teenagers? I would lose it myself."
Then she stops and thinks about what Reeve said.
"Bleeding 'arse'? TMI, buddy. But, if you're having symptoms such as that, I would seek immediate medical attention..."
And somehow, the fox says this all with a straight and very serious face.

The shorter fox girl in the room just smiled and watched the two interacting. It was moments like this that made everything bearable.
"So, since I know one of you knows fox fire" She glanced at Reeve "and I'm assuming you do as well given where we are and all" She giggled a bit at that "either of you two want to see if you can help me fix my problem with it?"
