Rika seems to grin, though it is hard to tell while she is chewing.
Setsushi, having cleaned the washcloth and returned to the table, settles down in his chair and laughs nervously. "No," he answers. "In the Empire I am famous for my inability to get married."
"Ice Maiden," Rika adds, jerking her head towards him.

"Aren't maidens supposed to be girls?" Sofi begins to ask, and then suddenly "Ohhhhhh"s as if a grand, mystical truth had been unveiled.
"You're not really a woman, are you?!" At this, she jabs a finger accusingly at Setsushi.

"So, what, are you just afraid of commitment?" Even if Sofi has very little interest in marriage and romance and such fluffy things, she is interested in prying.

Now Sofi feels kind of bad for making such a scene in front of the udon-ya. If she'd known, she might've been a little more discreet about it!
"Maybe Lu would!"
Luna had been absorbed in her own thoughts, but now, she stares at Sofi with horror. Momentarily forgetting that Sofi can't hear, she projects STRONG feelings of DON'T GO DECIDING THESE THINGS ON YOUR OWN and YOU CAN'T GET SO PERSONAL WITH STRANGERS and a multitude of other things that blend into a rather undignified garble of OH GOD.
And once again, Jokeph tenses.

"But Madame is a human!" Setsushi exclaims, involuntarily giving off an intense feeling of shock and... not disgust, but definite aversion. He even leans backwards somewhat in his seat.
Rika, meanwhile, has a hand covering her face, as if she is deeply contemplating something; but in fact, she is dribbling her tea back into her teacup via her nose.

Now, Luna doesn't have any interest in marrying Setsushi, but there's a part of her that wants to protest and say BUT SHE IS. Genetics be damned!
But she remains silent, not wishing to spark debate or give the impression that she is interested in taking Sofi's suggestion.
"Oh," says Sofi, seemingly satisfied for the moment.... but that moment doesn't last very long. "What if they WANNA marry someone else?"

"Our marriages are not just customary or affective," he replies; "they do not work with other species." He pauses, running his hand over his lips, then turns to Rika quickly. Isn't that right? Rika can give some philosophical explanation, right?
"... He means to say that marriages and weddings are wholly distinct things, in Toukoku," Rika says, finally having managed to clear her nasal passages.
... And she looks dubiously into her teacup.

... Setsushi, who had been about to give an answer of his own, turns to look at Rika with sheer horror, then clams up his mind and curls up around his teacup, looking quite disturbed.
