PsychodelicPenguin Seraphynthetic I've seen NursePolaris around in the GCD I believe... *I'm a GCD lurker*
I hurt too when people said I'm a maid, but I got over it (until they asked me , when I actually did wear a maid dress, if I was some Ren Queen... stare ). There are people who like lolita, mostly anime, and J-rock, but they know what lolita is, even if they would never wear it (unless cosplaying as Mana). Then there are others who think that wearing a giant hoopskirt is lolita (nekkid hoop, nothing really over it), which it isn't, 'cause it neglects the issue of modesty... So I'm alone (you must also realize I attend a rich kids scool...its public, but its a rich kids school, houses range around 500000 for most people...). I don't mind being alone, I've come to like my popularity for being that girl with the most awesome outfits even if we don't know her name girl. Which once people hear my name (Recca) they usually don't forget it since it's so unheard of (c'mon people, it's not that hard...take the extra -eb out of Rebecca and you get Recca...). I would like to have some other lolitas to hang out with...but for now I can wait and spread the love of a lolita... I saw a girl who had a hoop skirt on, in my Gothic & Lolita Bible. She had a long simple black skirt underneath, and then rosed twined around in the hoop skirt. 3nodding I thought of it more gothic... ninja I wish I could just get clothes to dress lolita. I have a few things. Sometimes I feel like im being a person who I really dont want to be. I want to wear pretty graceful and innocent things, but then my mother, and other normal people come along.. and it just starts to vanish. neutral Im in a school full of ghetto black people. They wear too tight clothes, or clothes that fall off their butts. Yet they seem to still make fun of others who dress weirdly, even if it's just an interesting shade of orange. I find them to be superficial sometimes, since they freak out when dust gets on their shoes. rolleyes All in all, I think I kind of understand your feeling of being "alone"... Sounds like my college but I found a place to hang out in a corner with computer and anime people I wore my lolita outfit out there and I got such nice compliments from them, though the rest of the school looked at me like I was a freak, but I'm used to that since I wear cat ears to school on a daily basis and since it's not a head band the idiots think they're real when they are only hair clips. Oh and in the first issue of the gothic lolita bible there is a tut on how to make a hoop skirt and the model wears it exposed with a skirt over it that's a bit above her knees I thought it was a great twist on it.

Depends on how they age. Look at Elvira - she's pushing 60 and she' still hot.

GrumbleCakes This just triggered another wierd thought: What are your thoughts on Maternity EGL/EGA wear? great idea ^_^ just because youre pregnant doesnt mean you should give up fashion XD though, it would be stupid if it was expensive... its not like its something you can keep wearing unless you keep getting pregnant.

GrumbleCakes This just triggered another wierd thought: What are your thoughts on Maternity EGL/EGA wear? A friend of mine found some Maternity tops that fit the EGL and GL style perfectly. She bought them, even though she's only fat (fat isn't a bad word. I'm fat too...) and not pregnant. Like me, she thinks it is great. I think pregnant women look much better in that than some of the other slightly trashy alternatives out there. o_O Like the low-rise jeans and crop top Maternity wear...

GrumbleCakes This just triggered another wierd thought: What are your thoughts on Maternity EGL/EGA wear? I've come up with a few designs I'd think would look cute for maternity wear, though I don't plan on getting pregnant for another 8 years or so. Just because you get pregnant doesn't mean you should give up the fashion, heaven knows there needs to be nice maternity wear, and I won't be caught dead in most of what I've seen so far.

Yeah, I hate how they have to make everything skimpy - even for Moms to be. XP

GrumbleCakes Yeah, I hate how they have to make everything skimpy - even for Moms to be. XP That's why I fell in love with the lolita look and persona. The whole modesty aspect. heart I'm just too burnt out on the modern styles. I'm too jaded on the whole "SHOW IT ALL - LET IT ALL HANG OUT" fashion that rules society. I'm into the whole likening back to a more modest time, in which a female being feminine wasn't frowned upon.

I'm getting so tired of the lie that you have to look like a slut to be beautiful and attractive to men. You can be modest and STILL be gorgeous and attractive!

To be honest I think girls/women who dress immodestly just think they're not pretty enough so they try to look pretty by showing more skin. I think it's a major insecurity issue. P.S. I'm sick of these strapless wedding dresses that seem to always be in style - brides should be modest the most.

While I am a very modest lolita, I'll be damned if I let someone tell me the human body isn't beautiful. I for one think that when women show a lot of skin, it is beautiful. Women fought to be able to show their bloomers and a variety of cuss words to anyone who thinks that's wrong!!!

I don't know if I'd say it's 'wrong', but I don't think it's a very good idea. It cheapens them. It's not that I'm against showing ANYTHING--I'm a lot less modest than women were in the early 1900's, for sure...but I think when you go around wearing scraps of cloth for clothing, it just makes you look as if you'd sleep with practically anyone. Why show off areas that makes guys want to sleep with you if you won't follow through?

I get more creeps trying to sleep with me when the only skin showing below my neck is my arms than I ever did wearing a hankerchief as a shirt. It isn't the areas showing that make a guy want to sleep with you, it's what's not showing. In all honesty you could wrap yourself up in a burlap sack and men will still want to sleep with you.

GrumbleCakes Yeah, I hate how they have to make everything skimpy - even for Moms to be. XP Well more people wanted, because before, all moms to be had to wear were mumu's and those ugly jeans with white wide elastic waist bands, and large button down shirts. But today they have more variety to things they could wear. A pregnant woman can dress how she still did before she had the extrabaggage. And the whole skimpy part, I'm guessing it sprouted from the preggy fetish, and now people though pregnant women should also have their own lingere? domokun
