Forgotten Morph

. . . Damn. So the boy'd gone into his dragon form. Kishuna had just been rendered pretty much the most useless person here now. Of course, he'd been being a distraction anyway; he couldn't fight after all. But. . . couldn't he still be a distraction? He did have. . . one thing. One hand reached down, sliding the thin dagger from its sheath, and he grinned cheekily. All right. He'd probably get slammed around a little, but it would be completely worth it. And besides, Renault would do worse to him if Kishuna came back unharmed with Amelia in this state. Might as well use the one thing he had; his speed.

The morph moved aside, sliding behind some bushes, and made his way around Nils. The boy might be a powerful dragon, but he was still limited by sight and if something was behind him, it wasn't as if he had eyes in the back of his head. Hopefully. Kishuna obviously wasn't an expert on dragons, but that made sense, right? But he was already moving in that direction and he couldn't stop now. A second later, he was out of the bushes, and stood directly behind the bard-turned-dragon.

Okay. Now what would work. . . his body was scaled. That made it difficult; he'd have to have greater strength to do any real damage. But he could still distract Nils; there was one area. Reaching down, Kishuna lifted Nils' tail - with quite a bit of effort - then with a quick motion slid the dagger between two more widely-spaced scales, reaching flesh. It wouldn't be much; it would be about a pinprick to a human; but it was in a bit of a more sensitive area and it would hurt.

(( "SURPRISE I HAVE EYES IN THE BACK OF MY HEAD :D -FROSTTONGUE-" ))

Nils smirked as Amelia glared at him, moving his shoulder slightly so the javelin wouldn't impale itself in his shoulder. It still made a nice, bleeding gash by his shoulder, though small in size. His face fell slightly with irritation. In his dragon form, he was powerful, yes, and actually capable of fighting back. However, it also made him a huge target with little mobility. Dodging was a very difficult task for him, close to impossible.

Fortunately, a strike that normally would hurt more meant almost nothing to him now.

He ignored Ninian's shouts and cries, though they did irritate him a bit and cause him to think. He probably could kill her if he tried to. But... he just didn't feel like attacking the dancer.
Besides, if the others are gone, then picking her off will be easy. He thought, glancing quickly from Rhys to Amelia to Sue back again to Ninian. Hm...

The dragon blinked, his eyes focusing back on the nomad. She had that sacred bow before when we fought grandmother... His eyes widened slightly, though it wasn't too noticeable. Does she...?

He wasn't going to take any chances. If she had Myulgre and decided to use it against him, it would hurt. He prepared another Frosttongue, the intended target being Sue...

... Then, he felt the dagger. He let out a roar of pain and whipped around, eyes blazing with fury. Though small in size, the dagger hit a rather sensitive spot, and, well... it caused him a considerable amount of pain.
Consumed by his anger and agony, Nils ignored the others and fired an icy blast of Frosttongue straight at Kishuna.

Amelia gripped a rather deep cut from the shards of ice on her exposed arm, getting her breathing under control. The chill had pierced through her muscles, and she could still feel her knees shaking. With this cold, she couldn't hope to be moving as quickly, and the armor already restricted her movement. Even without full-body armor, such as what Duessel or Gilliam wore back in Grado, this was enough to slow her down as it was. This is not good, this is not good...! Sue's Myulgre shot and Ninian's dance were enough to cheer her, but as soon as those had been done, Nils had released a roar of pain, aiming a Frosttongue right for Kishuna. He could effectively dodge Rei's spells, but not the breath of a dragon.

"Leave h-him al-alone!" Amelia shrieked, voice marred by the cold. A swift tug on the rope of her Javelin sent it careening back to her hand, and she threw once more, aiming for his other shoulder. Maybe if she put both out of commission, he wouldn't be able to stay up on the front of his body, and the ensuing crash would be enough to shift him back to normal. "Kishuna, run!"

(( ... Did I misread Sue's posts? D: 'Cause I don't think she fired Myulgre, unless she used it against Rei... ))

Nils let out a satisfied growl, turning around to face in the general direction of Amelia, Sue, and Ninian. Again, he moved his shoulder to avoid the javelin, watching out of the corner of his eye as it flew by, missing his shoulder by about an inch. The dragon smirked, pleased by the effect of the Frosttongue on Amelia; it was the first time he actually used it on a human, and, well... he didn't know what to expect, really. Seeing her shivering and in pain... it gave him confidence and a bit of satisfaction.

He fired another icy blast, this time at Sue.

. . . Well. This was just great. The dragon had already been preparing his attack when Kishuna hit him, and now said attack was going to be unleashed on him. That wouldn't be good. Even against those who normally used magic, the breath of a dragon would tear through their resistance, and for him, it wouldn't even need to; his resistance had shriveled to nearly nothing because he had not been exposed to magic in so long. This was going to be. . . rather uncomfortable to say the least.

Amelia shouted a warning, and a Javelin flew by; it seemed she'd missed. Unluckily, her warning was coming quite a bit too late. The morph WAS moving, but not nearly as fast as the breath; it caught him as he moved, spinning him and sending him flying into a nearby tree. The crack as he slammed into the wood nearly sent him into unconsciousness; and would have done so to a human, but of course Kishuna wasn't. But, he was woozy, and along with that most of his body had iced over; he probably wasn't going anywhere anytime soon.

{I didn't fire it yet. I was preparing to fire it. I don't want to waste Myulgre's shots, as with all Legendaries, it's limited. D:}

Sue saw the icy blast come for her, and although she wasn't hit directly, she cursed when she noticed her steed frozen in place by one leg. Acting quickly, she drew out her rather dangerous killing edge, and stabbed the ice away before her faithful steed would be finished off.

"Andre, are you all right?" she whispered. The horse just whinnied and replied, and she smiled for just a second. That was quite a close call.

The nomad mounted soon after... it was one of the many skills she acquired through the rigorous training provided by her father and grandfather. Nomads were expected to mount fast if they were to hunt in the plains... and now was no different. She had a target. With Myulgre now strung just as swiftly as she mounted, now Sue of the Kutolah was ready to fire. "Nils... Rei. I will only ask you one more time. Stand down. Surrender. Otherwise... these arrows shall pierce you."

{Zomg, I named the horse. I thought it was something easy to remember. Certain other nomads in the guild need to tell me if the Sacaen horses have names.}

Even after all this... it seems as though they're really going to do it. Was I wrong to hope? Is death the only escape from this madness? Is the world going to literally come down to "Every man for himself?"

Rhys frowned, despair eating away at him. Rei and Nils... last time, they'd seemed to be more interested in toying with their opponents than actually doing the dirty deed. This time, they weren't even so much as talking. Well, other than the occasional cheesy one-liner, at least.

He could see Amelia visibly shaking despite her armor, could see Kishuna looking very beat-up. He wanted to heal Amelia, but no, he had to keep a clear head--Kishuna was in more immediate danger.

He concentrated, and raised the Physic staff in the air. A small gust of wind picked up, the wind spirits familiar to anima magicians carrying the healing energies to Kishuna's wounds, doing their best to mend his body.

The ice dragon ignored Ninian's cries. Amelia had managed to hurt Nils, but only slightly. The ice dragon turned its cold breath on Kishuna, sending the man flying into a tree, half frozen. Amelia's second attack missed; she was still shivering from the cold. Ninian glanced at Sue when Nils turned to face them again--

And then the nomad pulled out a new bow, one Ninian hadn't seen before. The sight of it alone scared her. What was this bow? Though the dancer didn't recognize it, she subconsciously shifted away from it, hoping that Sue wouldn't actually fire an arrow from that bow at her brother.

Nils attacked again, aiming for the nomad.

"Sue!" Ninian shouted in warning. There was no protection from draconic attacks, not for humans. If Sue couldn't dodge it. . . . Fortunately, she did, although her horse was left standing on a frozen leg, a problem quickly fixed with a knife.

Why are you doing this? she thought, looking back at the ice dragon. Nils, how could you?

You are not my brother!

Calling on Set's Litany, the third of four rings she now possessed, she began to dance again. Red lights, the same color as the stone set in the metal of the ring, surrounded the general. Hopefully, this would allow Amelia to move a bit easier, staving off the cold that had her teeth chattering.

Things were not going well. Things were not going well at all. She could hardly keep up with everything that was going on; the next blast crashed right into Kishuna, hard enough to spiral him right into a heavy tree and knock him out cold (no pun intended). Rhys used a Physic to restore his wounds, but they were still in danger. Rei had not appeared yet, so Amelia gauged the bigger threat as Nils. If they could at least keep him from using that icy breath of his, they would be safe... but in her haste to attack, Amelia had forgotten to grab onto the rope on her Javelin. After soaring just past her darkened friend's shoulder, it flew right into the trees, lost to the shadows.

Lament later, Amelia thought, immediately whipping out her Killer Lance. The cold was fading a bit, but not the stinging pain from icy cuts and slashes, but she was still trembling. The uplift from Ninian's dance elicited a quiet "Thank you" from the General before running right at Nils. He was too distracted with the Nomadic Trooper; likely, in his arrogance, he had considered her down for the count. Pulling her arm back, Killer Lance in hand, Amelia aimed to plunge the weapon deep into his arm. She was just barely too short to reach his shoulder easily with a melee weapon. Hopefully, this would at least be enough to slow him down, or even make him shift back. Rhys was also a strong healer; once Nils was back to normal, he was hopefully capable to repair the damages.

Ed leapt through the flames.

She let loose a pained howl as her body passed through the arcane wall, her muscles blazing with sudden agony as the magic coursed through her veins and seized her by the very nerves. The wolf fell to the ground, contorting uncontrollably, a mass of reflexes as though she was having a seizure. She yelped and gurgled pitiful snarls as her angry blue eyes swiveled around, looking for Rei, the one who had brought this upon her, upon all of them...

And she heard him too, the dragon bard nearby. She had known he was there, but she hadn't spotted him during her assault on Rei. And now because of her recklessness she was lying completely vulnerable on the ground...twitching...salivating...tongue lolling out...

You stupid dog.

"You stupid, stupid dog. You should be aware by now that the effects of your transformation are remarkably similar to the condition laguz are in. Granted, the process itself is extremely deviant, but the results are...extraordinarily close. You've already proven that you go into a completely feral state when you've tasted enough chaos... Ed, please tell me you plan to fix that."

...I'm so sorry. I've been stupid.

The pain began subsiding, but it drained her of energy, and she could hardly fathom the choice to stand.

Siegell and Shastah

PostPosted: Mon Apr 27, 2009 5:31 pm

Shastah's enormous, leathery wings beat the air as he snaked his way through the sky above the forest. It wasn't hard to spot the battles going on all over the place; the Hawk King was flying well above tree level-- oh no, he just dipped below it-- and over here everything was purple and on fire and there were huge blasts of ice bursting through the trees. Pretty obvious.

Siegell patted his mount's neck as they whipped around above the battle, watching Rei and Nils battle the others. Mmmhmm. He leaned back in the saddle and braced his boots in their straps as Shastah's neck dipped down, and his body followed. They dropped straight into the battle from above and then turned straight for the ice dragon. Siegell's cloak flew wildly behind him as he stood in the saddle, glaive held out to his side as Shastah whipped past Nils' head.

Steel flashed against scale as Siegell swung the blade powerfully at Nils' muzzle. Not a killing, or even truly significant blow, but certainly enough to get the dragon's attention.

Moving away from Rei and Nils, Rhys began healing faster. He'd moved out of the clearing, hanging back by the edge of the trees. It didn't take a Bishop to detect the recent Fenrir casting--in the heat of battle, Rhys couldn't be sure whether it was really Ed or a common wolf, but the fact that she bounded towards Rei like that suggested the former. He shot a Physic heal off in her direction, letting the healing energies take care of her.

That left Amelia, who hadn't quite recovered yet from her injuries. She would have been in trouble had not Siegell arrived in a timely fashion to distract Nils, giving him the time necessary to add a Physic for Amelia.

The lance hit its mark, embedding itself deep into his arm. Nils let out another roar of pain. First a dagger, and now a lance?! He couldn't really easily remove the weapons, so he had to leave them in, much to his discomfort. Ngh... He growled and narrowed his eyes, his three wounds bleeding, the blood rolling down and pooling on the ground. He brought his claw-like hand down onto Amelia, pinning her beneath it (the Physic still reached her, though, much to Nils' irritation).

He prepared another Frosttongue, this time for Rhys, but he was interrupted yet again. He glanced at Siegell, giving him a look that said "you're next", then began to recharge the blast; the blow certainly did distract him, but he had a target in mind and was not about to change it because of some person flying in and striking him.

... But Rhys was out of sight by the time he looked back again. ... Oh, for the love of--! Overly irritated and just fed up, he fired the blast at Siegell. Due to the delay, though, it was a bit weaker than all the rest.

(( AFDSFG I HAD TO ADD AND EDIT THIS SO MUCH GAAAAAH -goes to eat dinner-
DON'T KILL ME PLEASE. ;-; ))

Amelia just could not believe this. She had performed a successful attack; that Killer Lance was jammed pretty deeply into his arm, and that would hopefully be enough to get him off-balance. Or... not; his reaction was to roar out in fury, eyes narrowing before one limb rose up. Amelia scrambled to run, instinctively assuming he was going to swat her, but then it crashed down upon her chest, slamming her hard to the grass. She let out a harsh breath in pain. Her pain was alleviated by a soothing magic, Amelia assuming it to be some sort of healing, but the heavy pressure of her chest was enough to prevent easy breathing and make her lightheaded. Not to mention having a breastplate pushed hard against your body and her shoulderguards now digging painfully into the flesh under her sleeves really hurt.

Amelia turned her eyes as Nils released his Frosttongue. Panicking, she shouted to Siegell, one hand moving up to curl into a fist and pound against the scaly part of his clawed paw. "Siegell, at your side!" she shouted. Would she have warned the target in time this time around? Her other hand went up, legs and hands flailing as she tried to dig into his scaled flesh, trying to inflict damage, or at least startle him, to get free. It was getting kind of hard to breathe, air coming to her in short, rasping draws through her mouth and throat.

Siegell and Shastah

PostPosted: Mon Apr 27, 2009 6:03 pm

The Frosttongue engulfed Siegell for a moment; even for him, he was too close to dodge. His cloak was held up around his face protectively while Shastah fought to keep ice from forming on his wings, roaring in pain from the frigid blast.

As the attack relented, Siegell cast his cape away, casting a glittering powder off of it and into the air; the Wyvern Lord's flair for the dramatic was impeccable. Taking the chance to move in while Nils was recovering from the blast, Shastah rushed forward and dipped down, then shot up and caught Nils twice in the face with his powerful club tail. Then, just as quickly he turned and flew back along Nils' side. Siegell's glaive whipped out and back, drawing a long, painful gash all the way down the ice dragon's flank. "Come on!" he called. "Is that all you have, beast? Come on!"

Just have to lead Nils away from the others...
