Writ grinned at Vale's scowl, and nodded in understanding, backing off a little. This kid had guts, and his heart seemed to be in the right place. He would have to recruit Quinn at one point, he'll just have to leave out the fact that he would be on the same team of someone who wants to kill him.
"As much as I didn't like the guy, he had the right idea." Writ clapped his hands and rubbed them together, "So, you feel like toppling some secret agencies for the greater good?"

He was hooked.
Was Writ serious? If he was --
Vale had been wanting to fight. It always scratched at the back of his mind - had been reminding him, day after day. Of the havoc he could have wreaked with Ciro, of how there were so few fights that were worth it nowadays. Nothing challenging, nothing thrilling -- and the thing inside him was not pleased with that.
"Yes," he said immediately, paused, and more thoughtfully added, "Of course."
Couldn't seem too eager, after all.
His tail was wagging. And he knew, as he shifted Tepin in his arms again, his ears were alert and at attention.
"V'hat do you have ee'n mind?"

He… He was going to fight? Right like that-- right after saying those things?! He was just going to discuss their plans right in front of her, after that brave speech he made!? After almost killing this guy, he just planned to trust him like that!?
Was this ‘doing his best’ not to get caught up in this game? This was actively trying to get into it! Varu wasn’t just defending himself-- no. He had already stopped doing that when he decided to kill Quinn. Now he was even going after these “Black Suits” whoever those were. This wasn’t the boy that calmly cooked breakfast every morning after wake-up calls. This was someone else entirely!
She squirmed, pushing against his hands as her legs stretched out as best she could for the floor. She wanted down, and she wanted away. Mixcoatl had been right! Deep down, no one in the game was normal, all they wanted was to fight, and to win.
So even if it meant risking her life, she knew she had to get away somehow. Better now than any other time-- Now, at least, she could lose him in the many buildings that littered the streets, many without working doors or windows. Better now… Better now than when she grew, and her true nature would be revealed to him as if she were a bug under the microscope.
She squeaked, her voice betraying the bravado that she wanted to show. “Let me down!”

"Well..."
"Let me down!"
"Maybe you should put her down first, she doesn't look too comfortable at the moment." Writ raised an eyebrow at the boy. They certainly acted like brother and sister. But he wasn't going to bother trying to get any more information out of that.
That's when he remembered, "I don't think I got your name."

"No." It was probably the first time Valeriu had strictly denied her request, so matter of factly. His tone softened, however, as he hooked one arm under her legs to carry her (so that she couldn't kick). "No," he repeated, frowning, before looking back up at Writ.
"My name ee's Valeriu." He shuffled the wriggling girl in his arms further. "Look, I think v'e need to be getting home. This ee's not the best place to discuss such things."
Nor the best time. He'd let his excitement get ahead of him. This wasn't something Tepin should be hearing.
"Maybe v'e can talk later? Do you have a cell phone?"
Valeriu had a cell phone. A small, old thing that he'd never given much thought to. His parents had given it to him in case he ever got lost.
He didn't think he'd ever used it before, actually.

He---
He said that he didn’t want her involved-- and now this!? He wasn’t allowing her to leave?!
That--it-- but-- … What!?
But he continued-- He was going to stop this. Maybe they’d actually go home… To what? What was she supposed to do now, after seeing him like this?! This wasn’t how she wanted Varu! This wasn’t the Varu she loved!
She shifted as best she could in her awkward situation, still vainly trying to grasp at the straws of freedom.
She found that against a much larger and stronger man, that really didn’t work so well.
She was trapped.
And that, that displeased her greatly.

Valeriu? Writ was having trouble trying to pronounce that in his head. He dare not try and say it out loud at risk of sounding like an idiot. He pulled out a slip of paper out of his pocket and read Vale the number. It was a payphone number-- something he put on job applications and the like. It would have to do. Writ didn't have a reason to have a cell phone until now. He made a mental note to get a cheap one before the week was out.
"If I don't answer, you'll probably find me around Middling."

He nodded - that was an easy enough number to remember. He'd make sure to write it down later, though.
"Alright," he answered as stoically as possible, considering he had a struggling child pinned in his arms. "Expect to hear from me soon."
A nod of dismissal and he had turned on his heel, leaving the older godling behind them with quick strides.
Now...now he just had to handle Tepin.
He wasn't sure if it would've been easier to fight Writ rather than deal with this new complication.

"I'll be waitin'." Writ nodded, hefting up his ten-pound bag of explosive specialties.
He went down the street and through an alleyway thinking, Now how to get those two to work together?
