Setsushi is no longer so worried, given that it was only a temporary reaction. "Perhaps it would be good to inform Master Kumoru so that if it happens to Miss again, he will not be alarmed?"

... What does bother him is her assurance that Kumoru will not kill him for this, but he does not voice those concerns.

He looks up after drawing a third, irregular block of ice out of the water and... blinks at Lucretia's wavering expression. "Miss shouldn't be ashamed of an involuntary reaction?" he offers, with a hesitant little smile. ... Then again, it isn't such an important thing that Lucretia could not keep it to herself, if she wanted. Growing children should be able to keep some things from their parents, after all, ... ... ...

He himself starts to turn pink and looks back to the bowl in a hurry.

"Either way, if he wants to know, then I'll tell him," Lucretia says with a small shrug. "I have to. Although he does let me have some secrets."

She reaches past the Porcelain and takes one of the finished ice ... pieces and turns it over to examine it from all sides. "How do you get the different shapes?" she inquires. "I can freeze water solid, but that's about it. No cubes or flowers or anything. I can't pull the water out like that to freeze it."

Setsushi frowns a little, but accepts her answer.

As for the cubes... Well. "When freezing, to start with a specific point, then... to move outward, freezing some, holding back others from freezing." By drawing lines, partitions, veils of sorts, through the water. Similar to slicing an onion, or... making a place to put one's foot when walking on the water, or... ah... well... very difficult to explain.
sweatdrop "To achieve a certain shape, it is much easier to freeze, then cut and carve..."

Setsushi imagines that Miss could learn herself, with practice. ... Or perhaps not. "Rika believes that magic and telekinesis are the same for Porcelain; perhaps that is how..."

A fourth chunk, which, even though it is also unshaped, seems to have tired him out a bit.

Nodding slowly, Lucretia listens to his explanation, finding that it makes some sense but... well, magic always struck her as one of those things that was easier to just do rather than explain. Watching him freeze the water into cubes was not nearly as pretty as watching her father cast spells, though.

"I'm not sure what telekinesis is, or if I can do that," the Raevan says, frowning a little. "And I've also never sliced an onion. But I don't know. I might be able to do other things instead. I'll have to try making cubes."

She considers making an attempt right then, but settles instead on eating the cubes she has.

"Telekinesis is moving objects with one's mind," he explains. "Most Lucid Porcelain can learn..." But most humans do not seem able to, and Setsushi knows little about Miss Lucretia's species, of course.

"Miss Lucretia's magic is certainly far stronger than mine," he offers; this little task is tiring, and she effortlessly froze the entire bowl on her first visit. "Perhaps you will become a great mage--"

... He stops in the middle of his sentence, his brow creasing, but he hides whatever thoughts caused the pause.

He pulls out a final, fifth, large chunk, and now moves the plate to the table. ... Unsure whether or not he should pull up a chair for Lucretia, he sets it down and sits at -- almost collapsing into -- a chair, himself. Between this task and his exercise, he's quite tired... but at least the task of freezing the water cooled him off.

The girl follows the plate, taking a second piece after finishing the first. Sensing Setsushi's worry, she glances over at him, a questioning look in her eyes as she works on sipping up the ice cube.

"What's wrong? Daddy thinks I'll get better at magic as I grow down, too, and I think that sounds like a good thing, no?"

She smiles contentedly and goes back to eating the rest of the ice, hovering beside the table but not over a chair.

"Does Kouyo know how to do the whole tele...whatever thing?" she asks him once she has finished another cube.

"Nothing is wrong," Setsushi says quickly. "I was thinking of a different matter..."

Setsushi ponders her question about Kouyo. "I believe he is a specialist in magic," he replies, "But I would not be surprised if he were also adept at the psionic arts."

Setsushi wonders why Miss asks...?

"Daddy want-t-tss-" the girl stutters to a halt, her brow furrowing for a moment. Then she shakes her head, brushing some of her long hair back behind her ear. "I'm not allowed to tell you," she informs him casually.

"But what else can you tell me about him?" Lucretia suddenly asks, fixing the Knight with an intense stare.

Setsushi looks at Lucretia a moment, folding and turning over thoughts before he replies, "He is skilled at poetry and model-building. He is... really a quiet and indoors man. But the better for the woman who receives his affections.

"Kouyo was an impressive mage in the Empire, but... I fear he may have lost some of his ability." Setsushi's thoughts wander towards the plants which Kouyo now keeps outside the house -- surely if he were able, he would nurture them with magic and not with labor.
sweatdrop "Perhaps he is reliant on the Golden World for his power..."

"So, he is weaker now?" She glances back to her ice cubes, and touches her fingertips to the largest one. The bit of water on the outside of it freezes again to her fingertips, and the Raevan laughs a little to herself as she lifts the piece of ice up that way.

"Will he get better again? Daddy very much wants to see him stronger." Lucretia goes back to watching Setsushi while she starts eating the big chunk of ice.

"I would not say 'weaker'." It may merely be a change... perhaps Kouyo's powers are focusing inward rather than outward these days.

Setsushi raises an eyebrow at Lucretia's method of eating the cubes, seeming slightly amused himself.

There is a short silence before Setsushi asks, "How are Miss Lucretia's 'brothers'?" It seems he is particularly interested in the Porcelain boy whom they do not see regularly, Jilan.
PostPosted: Sun Apr 19, 2009 12:44 am

"They're both okay," she says, smiling a little at the thought of the smaller of the two boys. "Jilan just came home recently from ... the other Porcelainland. He's bigger and older and has a half-ton more books than he did before he left. Xiao Huo is happier now that his brother is home."

Lucretia considers a moment whether there is anything to add to what she said, but apparently decides no, and finishes off the last of her ice.

"The Silver World?" Setsushi puts a hand to his chin, pondering. "... If it is not too much trouble, could Miss Lucretia tell Jilan that I would like to see him again, to chat about that place? He has been there the longest of all of us, and I would like to learn more about it."

Seeing that she has finished the last of her ice, he wonders if there is anything else she might like.

The Ice Rose girl slides the now-empty plate back to Setsushi, and bows slightly. "Thank you very much for the snack. And the flowers."

She considers his request for a moment, then nods - Kumoru would not have any problems with Jilan seeing Setsushi. "And sure, I can do that. When is good for you? I think he might be planning on seeing Kouyo anyway."

Setsushi is home every day at noon, he says smilingly. "... Ah, but not the first day of next week. I have an engagement with a lady..."

The way his face falls as he remembers indicates that it is probably not something he is particularly looking forward to.
