Undine watched Glow sadly. Antirr you idiot, she thought towards the river. She moved over to Glow and gently nuzzled her. “I think he’s afraid that if he sees you he won’t be able to leave.” Hopefully that won’t get but to him, she thought to herself. “We’re going to travel together for awhile and I promise to keep an eye on him for you,” she said hoping to put Glow’s mind at ease. “I should get going before he decides to leave without me,” she said turning to the path to the river. “Goodbye Glow."

Glow looked back at her. "Yes...I know thats why he leaves without a word. He also...is worried i think, that i'll tell his father he's leaving and he'll have to talk to him. they don't get along. Well, he doesn't get along with his father. Jazz likes him perfectly fine but Antirr...Oh, i'm sorry, your right." She smiled softly. "Thank you Undine, and good bye. have a wonderful trip and take care of my little boy for me. Be safe."

Undine walked slowly down the path from the teepee. When the day came for her to have foals she hoped they’d have a better relationship with their father then Antirr had with his. As the river came into view she shook her head to get rid of the thoughts she didn’t want Antirr picking up on. She quickened her pace as she approached the place she had left Antirr hoping he was still there.

Still kicking the water and over all throwing a hissy fit, Antirr did not notice as Undine re-appeared. This was so stupid. Maybe he should just leave before she got back. Run away and never return, kinda deal. No! The great lord Antirr did not run away! He stood and fought! But what was he fighting against? He snorted and shook his head. Fine, he liked to mare, she was nice and he didn't want to hurt her. There, he admitted it. He wanted to be nice to her. But thats it. He snorted, nodding his head. Thats it. Thats all. He flopped down into the river and lay his head on the bank.

Undine stood staring at Antirr mystified by his apparent tantrum. Figuring he hadn’t seen her she turned around and once out of sight of him found a stray branch and stepped on it to make some noise. She stayed there a few minutes to give herself time to recover from the desire to laugh. Retuning to where she left the stallion she called out, “Antirr are you ready to go?”

At the snap Antirr looked up, ears flattening. He pulled himself from the river and was about ready to go into attack mode till he heard her voice. His ears returned to normal and he looked to her as she appeared again. "Hay Undine, yeah. Was that you?" He questioned, eyes looking around just to be sure, in case there was danger about. "the snapping branch, i mean." He clarified, in case she was unsure of what he was talking about. Of course the words had been from her, but the snapping branch he was uncertain about.

“Yes, that was me, sorry. Stepped on a stray branch, didn’t see it till it was to late,” she said hoping the little fib wouldn’t come back to bite her. She looked around just to be sure there was no one lurking in the shadows. She turned back to him with a grin. “We should follow the river to the ocean. It’s the quickest and safest path.”

Antirr shook his head, rolling his eyes. "I need to teach you stealth then. Its a wonder your still alive. Just like my mother, easily distracted and unobservant." Did she know nothing about the repercussions of a snapped branch in a forest? It was like a signal to all those hungry for flesh. "Pay more attention next time, least you end up in the belly of a skinwalker." He snorted. "Are you sure it would be the safest? and quickest? Rivers whined and turn about in all sorts of directions and you can never be certain your heading in the same direction you one were. Sure, you'll end up at the ocean, or a lake, or the mountains if your going the wrong direction, but you might not end up where you meant to. As for safety, out in the open is never safe, enough said." Did she know anything about safety? Had she ever traveled alone before? Then again, she was a mare with decorations a little overly ornate. Who never realized how troublesome they could be in a forest. So it must not be so. Well he'd make sure by the time he left her that she was well prepared.

Undine glared at him then started to head downstream. If he’s going to be like that I’ll just laugh at him next time he throws a tantrum, she thought ticked. She froze then turned to him with the dirtiest look she could manage. “Just because I’m a mare doesn’t mean I don’t know what I’m doing,” she hissed. She couldn’t believe it. How did he think she got here in the first place?

Antirr froze. Absolute poison in her eyes. "You stepped on a branch and alerted a forest of dangers to your presence, you wear elaborate decorations that, while beautiful, hinder your movement, and you want to travel out in the open where it is easy to be attacked or spotted. You've obviously done well getting yourself here, but its only a miracle that your still alive. I never said anything about you being a mare, but perhaps i ought to. Your weak, your easily swayed by emotions and easily hurt, and shall i apologize for trying to help you? I like you, Undine, genuinely and i don't want to see you hurt. I am not critisizing a pupil for being a horrid fighter or lazy with training, i'm telling you that your risking your life and so long as your around me i will not allow it. If you wanna die so bad, travel alone. But with me, you will listen, you will learn, and you will be safer." How dare she act as if he was the bad guy. He was trying to help her. He didn't want her to be killed and he was not about to let her be easy bait. Hot headed mare. He snorted.

She snorted, didn’t he understand that the “elaborate decorations” as he put it, where part distraction. “You think all mares are weak?” She moved closer to him, “You wouldn’t have survived two days in my fathers herd. We are warriors, trained from day one to survive at all cost.” The memories she had blocked out for so long were back but she wished she could forget again. She turned away. “Do you have any idea what its like to be looked down on and considered weak because your mother doesn’t fit with their ideas of strength. Mother was smart, she believed that fighting should be a last resort. She taught me that but that doesn’t mean I‘m not capable of fighting.”

He snorted. "That is absolutely unbelievable. You are the stupidest mare i've ever met, I think you hit your head on a tree or something. A warrior herd? Then why in the name of the spirits do you do the most foolish things? If you were trained, or even around fighters, warriors, then you should know about everything i've spoken about. A branch would never be cracked, or even bent, by you. You'd move silently, and quickly. You wear a gaudy outfit and you follow the river like some lost lamb." He was getting mad, and fast. It was taking alot to keep him calm at this point. Had she been anyone else she'd be in pain right about now, he reasoned. But he didn't want to hurt her. He didn't want to mar the perfect white hide with crimson. "If you understood what it was to be a warrior you wouldn't be doing these things."
Her almost sappy and pathetic comment about not fitting in nearly tipped him over the edge. "Do YOU have any idea what it is like to spend your days looking over your shoulder, keeping secret upon secret from someone important to you because you are terrified you will break their heart? Have you EVER wanted to do something so badly you'd kill for it? Do you UNDERSTAND how it feels to see someone leave when all you wanted was their approval and their guidance. You had a mother who taught you, and a father to look up to. Think twice before you speak such nonsense." He turned and stormed up the river a ways before stopping, about ready to kick her.
He glared at the water and took deep breaths, calming. Closing his eyes he let the calming images come to him, to save him. He had no qualms with murder but her...he didn't want to hurt her. No. Not her. When they first met...the image filled his mind and his breathing evened without him realizing it. Opening his eyes he looked skyward and then froze. He would not turn to look at her. No, it was her move.

Undine started to rear up but stopped, a fight with him was not what she wanted. She turned and silently disappeared into the forest. Moving carefully and with great distaste, she moved so she was near where he stood. How she hated the forest, normally she’d avoided it no mater the danger she found herself in but now she had to prove she wasn’t a fool. “I stepped on that branch to try and save your pride,” she called softly not sure if she want him to hear her or not. She glared at the branches in front of her. It wasn’t going to be as easy getting out as it was in. With a soft sigh she started to maneuver her way out.

Glancing behind him confirmed what he thought. She was gone. He moved forward, heading down the river. If this would lead to the sea, and she would be heading to the sea, he'd run into her sooner or later. Mentally he was kicking himself, but it was her fault. She was the one who was making him mad. He froze at a soft sound and turned to the trees. "Talking has a tendency to do the same thing as a broken branch, just so you know." He offered, standing there. "I'm not helping you if you get stuck" He added.

She stepped out of the trees with a annoyed look. “I hate the forest,” she said softly. She moved over to the river to check her reflection. She was surprised to see that her braid had survived the trip intact. She turned to him wondering what he’d do next.
