Right-you asked for it-reality time. The vast majority of acids won't eat the vast majority of glasses. And some glasses won't react with any acid. So the loupe lens, if not the casing, is fine. And, thanks to you, I now have a sample of said acid.
Hot acid isn't that much of a problem to deal with-there's plenty more hazardous substances than that-acid just gets a bad name.

(a r.l. aside... yep... i have to agree with him... used to work in a lab all throughout college... taught underclassmen and all... got acid on me all the time.... rolleyes of course now there were some you don't fool around with... liquid or evaporated... i had acid holes all over my lab coat and my jeans were holey long before it was fashionable... they'd look fine and then i'd wash them... rofl but there is one acid you never fooled with... sulphuric... it likes the taste of human flesh a little too much... to show you how much... my hubby - we weren't married yet btw - was a janitor for U.P.S. at the time and they had a breakage on the sorting line... so he was called in to clean it up... imagine my surprise when i got this call from him and his first words were... what's conc. H2SO4?... seems he tossed in a rag first... and probably a good thing he did because it kind of dissolved on him... told him to find the strongest base he could and neutralize it first... eek stare )

Rhy, the acid produced in a dragon's belly is a mixture of Chloric and Sulfuric acids...not to be messed with. The heat is merely a bonus, scalding what flesh it touches as it burns it.
And while it doesn't dissolve the glass, glass heated up too quickly shatters, does it not?
Note: I know that acid gets a bad name...I took chem. I happen to like acidic foods, so I know that they're not too dangerous. It all depends upon dilution and the type of acid in question...pure HCl is going to be much more dangerous than, say, a 10% solution of Acetic Acid.

Good, I don't want to get rid of my reserves of magic...had to mix a Diamond's worth of power from each element to get the magic I needed to shift my shape and make this orb. And I've got the ingredients for the antidote.
