((Lol, I get that. I'm kinda like that to my little brother I suppose, mainly 'cause he's the type to try an antagonize a person on purpose.))
It seemed he had calmed down, even if it was just a bit. She was glad for that. When he mentioned her having just ask if she'd want to hang out with him she smiled. Did that mean he would let her go with him when he went places from now on?
His next few questions gave her pause, though nothing that really bothered her. She really was bad at planning things out and for the most part tended to live for the moment, doing and saying what came to mind but she wasn't sure if he knew that about her. Oh well. It wasn't important. When he asked how she'd planned to hang out with but avoid him at the same time she grinned up at him, her sadness from earlier having disappeared. "Because Cole is the most fun when he's smiling and having fun! I thought if you saw me here you would get mad like you usually do." She didn't add on that she'd been right on that guess though it was probably easy enough to guess from her reply to his question.
"So if Cole is mad when he's around me but isn't mad when I'm not there, then Cole will have more fun when he doesn't see me and that makes me happy." It didn't occur to her that her words were very simple and straight forward nor the anger they might again ensue. She was just glad that she got to see him smile again; it had been a while since she'd been able to see it. It made him seem more approachable when he smiled. She wasn't sure he'd understand her logic but it made sense to her.

Cole paused again at her words. Had he noticed before how much she seemed to like him? He had always brushed it away as a little sister trying to get out of the house and using her big brother as an excuse. That, and he had never spoken to her this much, really. Their conversations usually lasted a few minutes at the most before he left. He couldn't help but find it odd that she wanted him to be happy. That it made her happy. What a strange little sister. "Well you got that right, kiddo," he said after a moment, his face returning to it's usual neutral expression. Well, usual when he wasn't mad. She seemed to understand him more than he understood her. How long had she been so curious? He had never noticed much about her besides the obvious. He looked away for a moment as he heard someone else come nearby. Whoever it was moved somewhere else in the garden. Jeez it was a big garden. He turned and looked around behind him at the hedges that seemed to form a wall. Why would someone need a garden that size? Then again, why would a family of three need a house that big? He had started to zone out and almost forgot about Shylo standing there. He slowly turned back to her without saying anything. He stared at her for a moment, glanced away, then looked back. "So what did you plan on doing here?" he asked, mostly because he had no ideas himself. He probably would have just left but perhaps his sister would have some...idea of something to do. She seemed to know him better than he had thought, after all. Maybe she'd know something he'd like to do.

((Yes, that's what I was planning. I didn't know how to get Cole and Shylo over to the gate, so I left it open for Shylo since Cole wouldn't really be one to just take a stroll through the garden.))

((I took a liberty with Cole and Jordon knowing each other, just to move things along. If this is inappropriate, just let me know and I will edit.))
Jordon was looking around, and saw many people she recognized. It was bound to happen since half the town was here, and everything was free. Most of them were not interesting.
Then she saw Cole and his little sister Shylo. She had gone to the same school with Cole, and had three classes together in senior year. They had never hung out outside of the educational world, but they became close acquaintances regardless. Sure, she didn't know his intimate secrets, but he was a familiar face. Shylo she had only met one time, but seemed like a good girl. Besides, Jo had a soft spot for kids, and Shylo was pretty cute. So, her interest peaking, she strode up to the pair.
"Hey, Cole," she said. "It's been a while. Haven't seen you since graduation. Been doing well. Hey Shylo." she smiled at the girl. Sighing, and not finding as much joy in the party as she thought she would have thus far, she took a look at the less populated back part of the house. There was a spanning maze of gardens that most were never allowed in. The house and grounds were open to the public now, though, so it would be the prime opportunity to see what there was to see.
Jordon had realized as soon as she freed her siblings that she did not function well alone, and was glad to have company. She didn't much care if it was awkward and unwilling.
"Care to check the place out with me?" she inquired, "We might as well, right?" she smiled at Shy, then up at Cole.

Cory was a bit disappointed when he dodged her question about the books but she wasn’t going to press the issue, it wasn’t her place to question his life and what he chose to say about it. When he asked about what she did in her free time she paused for a moment realizing that she really did play doctor in all her time and rarely did anything at all for herself.
Noticing she was loosing him she took a few quick steps to catch up as he headed down another path but the sight dumbstruck the girl. It was a truly beautiful area and it wasn’t until he said her name that she realized they had both fallen silent. Her voice was lower in the calm for somehow it didn’t seem right to be so loud in such a serene place, “I’m still here. To be honest with you I never really stop playing doctor. All the people I know are work acquaintances or from class even when I am not there, I am volunteering down at the shelters or as a camp counselor during the summer.” Running a hand through her hair, “I suppose if I had to pick a hobby it would be art. I love to draw people when they think no one is looking. It says a lot about a person when they let their guard down and you can see for a moment just who they are.”
While she didn’t want to admit it, she had sketch books filled with portraits and images of people going about their life whether in a waiting room or standing in line during her break. The true person, not who they displayed to the world.

((It works. They're the oldest of the group, so it makes sense that they would have gone to school together.))
Cole's eyes shifted up at the sound of another's voice. Needless to say, he didn't recognize it right away, but he did as soon as he saw her face. A spark of memory flashed through his mind as the face clicked with his conscious recollection. He had to think back to make sure she wasn't one of the ones who wanted to kill him after graduation... No, he was pretty sure she was one of the ones he actually had gotten along with fairly well. "Hey, Jo," he greeted, a bit surprised to see her. This party was just full of surprises.... He glanced back at the garden before turning back to her. "I....suppose," he agreed reluctantly. It wasn't something he was particularly fond of doing, but at least it was something.

"Ah," he murmured as she said she had no real life of her own. It reminded Andy of himself, and he paused for a moment as he thought more about it. Is this what I appear as to other people? I wonder if they ever feel sorry for me because of it, or if they just simply move on. He certainly felt sorry for her, until she mentioned sketching. "Oh, you like to draw? Well, hopefully you don't ever catch me with my guard down, I'd hate to see what I really am," he chuckled lightly.
In truth, he already knew who he was, but she seemed nice enough that he didn't want her to see that part of him. Although, after this party was over and they parted ways, he was sure they would most likely never meet again. He fell silent as they walked along a hedge that made a wall. Glancing up, he thought he saw an opening in the bush. "Do they honestly have a hedge maze in their yard," he asked Cory in disbelief when they reached the space and he poked his head in.

Jordon gave him a grin. She was pretty good with remembering names and faces, and usually didn't forget them after she learned them. Her eyes went back to the garden, where the hedge maze began. She had never seen one outside of pictures or television, and she was fascinated. Without even thinking, she entered the maze. She didn't go in too far before she stopped, looking around every which way to decide which way she wanted to go. She had always liked puzzles, but had never been very good at them.
"Which way?" she asked behind her, to no one in particular. Something inside her told she ought to go get the kids, but she shoved that idea aside. This was her break, and they would be fine for a few.

Cole reached over and grabbed Shylo's shoulder, much more gently than he had her arm earlier. "Come on," he said, motioning towards where Jordan had headed off to. "You better not get lost or mom's gonna give me hell." Not that she wasn't already, but that was beside the point. He came along behind Jordan in the maze, glancing back constantly to make sure that Shy was following. He then turned his attention back to Jo. "Like I know?" he said, glancing from side to side. "I wonder if they have some sort of map somewhere." Needless to say, he wasn't the best at mazes or anything that took effort for that matter. Some could argue that mazes are effortless, but if one wants to get out of one, they'd have to remember where they came from and make a mental map of the thing. Cole wasn't particularly of either of the options.

Cory laughed lightly, “Oh I don’t know. I like to pretend I am a pretty good judge of character. You don’t seem all too bad.” Looking at the hedge she couldn’t help but laugh again, “It would appear they do. Classic example of waay too much money and no where near enough sense to know what to do with it.” She shook her head lightly, “I swear I will never understand some people.”
As they walked Cory felt as if she was babbling. She kept speaking of her own life and was letting him say very little even if it appeared he didn’t want to speak of his own life. Then again, she reasoned, she was never going to see him again after tonight, and that was supposed to be a good thing. It wasn’t often she found someone who seemed decent and didn’t ridicule her lack of life, or her work. She had never been in it for the money. “Let’s see if we can find the center. Beats going back out there.” Pausing for a moment, “So what about you? What do you do for fun?”

Shrugging her shoulders, Jordon picked a direction and headed down it. She thought the other two might follow, which would be nice, since then she would have someone to talk to, but now there was an obstacle to surmount, and she had to, even if she had to take a chainsaw to these hedges to solve the maze. That's bullheaded determination for you.
She set a quick pace, taking turns while trying to remember where she had already been. She was fairly sure she had it messed up, and that thought was confirmed when she took what she was sure was the last option she hadn't tried and ended up in yet another dead end. Erasing her mind of what she thought she had figured out, she started over at square one, now well within the maze, which made it all the harder. At least before she had a starting point to return to.
If the others were speaking, or with her, she hardly noticed. She was determined to defeat this damn thing.
