Cyr'd been smiling at the young man by Crystal when Arcanos spoke. Reflexively, the Shifter had smacked Arcanos' shoulder and sent a look his way that clearly said you're so rude! With an apologetic expression the soon turned to one of joy, Cyr returned her hug and patted her back, "They're well. Active little imps still, but not so terribly mischievous - I think." Casting a look over their way, he chuckled.
Bowing deeply, Cyralthein flashed a winning and gentlemanly smile at Lady Moanna as he straightened, "It's a pleasure to meet you, M'lady. Any friend of Crystal's is a friend of ours..." He trailed off when Crystal pointed away from the group, "Yes, where is your litt- oh my." Tilting his head as he caught sight of the beautiful Kaoru, he lifted a hand to wave at the pomegranite scent. "Your girl's grown into a beautiful young woman, many congrats." Glancing at Arcanos, he grinned as if to share that opinion with Arcanos. While the Kitsune was and would always be the most important person in his life, it didn't mean Cyralthein's appreciative eye wouldn't wander.
And Kaoru was certainly someone to admire.
The sound of laughter lifted into the air as his twins pinched several different samples and ran off, with fists full of little papers and the occasional tiny vial. "You tw-" Raising his voice as he made an apologetic gesture to go after the terrible two, he blinked as they suddenly made a ninety degree turned and ran towards Kaoru. Oh, well then. Stopping, he simply shook his head and sighed, "Or... perhaps not." Leaning back against Arcanos, his hand found the other's as he chuckled, "I get to stay and chat for once it seems."
Indeed, Lucian and Rion had heard their names called and had made a beeline for the voice they both recognized and missed. "Kaoru!" Their voices rang out in unison as they came to a stop before the other and grinned, samples in hand.
"You grew up!" Lucian remarked, eyeing the other before tossing a glance back at Cyr and deliberate ignoring the cut off summons. After all, if the Shifter didn't call them by name, it wasn't that serious.
"Really well. You have twigs and... uhm," his gaze lingered on her chest for a moment before rising to meet her eyes, "You're really beautiful."
"Have you seen these? Some are really nice." Lucian held his loot up, grinning, "Wonder if they go with us." Indeed, their rich and complex scent hung in the air, a slight fragrance that drifted on the wind and mingled with Kaoru's own.

((I'm in ur arpeez, rudely barging in 8D ))
Ba-DUM. Ba-DUM. BA-DUM. BA-DUM!
"I AM HERE NOW."
The door flew open with a startling crash, and a skinny little waif of a girl who looked like a horror movie extra strolled in - or rather, limped in. She had clearly kicked the door open.
"Hallo hello hullo," Maira sang, going up to Kaoru randomly and tugging on her hand. "I was lost and I wanted to find somewhere to go and are you having a party? I bet it is, thank you for having a party."
And off she wandered again, looking for food.
"I want a sweet," she said, twirling a thick lock of hair between her fingers. She paused, thinking for a second, and going cross-eyed with a giggle. "Please."

"Yep. Just like you." Ment smiled, making sure to shield Remi from grabby hands and stampeding children. He pondered that for a moment; how many of them really were out there? Not every oil sold became a child, and out of every oil-child he knew would definently emerge, there could have been several more who simply just didn't speak to him.
"I think it's safe to bet there is a lot of us, Remi." Ment said, as Celyn's voice rang into view as well as his face.
Ment gave Celyn a wave, and hoisted Remi up over the other children so she and himself could make their way to the churro-smelling child quicker.
"Hi Celyn!"

Orpheus' jaw literally dropped, and that's a hard thing to accomplish. Dark gaze swept from the white boy to the twins attempting to preoccupy his Kaoru's time, and then quickly up to Kaoru to find that, not only was she entertaining these twins, she was referring to Amahte as charming. Was she with his best friend? Why hadn't Amahte told him? What about that Ment boy? Fluttered lashes gave a few blinks, as if it would clear the people around him and he'd not have to worry longer about the multiple rude intrusions against his honor. Well, that not only didn't work, but it brought Maira passing on through, who Orpheus didn't find nearly as amusing as she apparently thought she was.
The boy gripped one of Kaoru's hands, hard, and it looked like he'd decided that the best choice of action was to close his eyes and stop breathing. Brows wrinkled, frown upon his face, the boy wasn't pleased and even from a distance Qadir could sense it. Hurrying from behind the tree, he grabbed Orpheus from around his waist and pulled him away from the group. Unfortunately he hadn't noticed how very firmly the boy had latched upon Kaoru, and he'd accidentally tug her a foot before realizing. With a very uncharacteristically short and empty apology (not even a ghost of a smile?) Qadir unwrapped Orpheus' fingers from Kaoru's hand and continued to haul the still statue-like boy away from the others. They didn't get very far, just the next tree over, so that Qadir and Orpheus could talk alone, both looking angry at the other.

The setting was starting to feel rather claustrophobic for poor Moanna. Crystal politely introduce her to Cyralthien and in her most polite expression, which was her normal absence of expression, she bowed back as a curtsie was not at all applicable considering her clothes were form fitting.
"It's a pleasure to meet you as well," She commented.
It was so hard for her to keep still and not be a tad fidgetty. When the moon wants to glow in the light of the stars, it glows, but with so many meteors around how can the moon share in the stars light?

Amahté, as sure as there was a sun in the sky and grass on the ground, was miserable. Truly, achingly miserable. What kind of person would drag their young charge out early in the morning for errands? What sort of king allowed himself to be manhandled so?
What sort of god succumbed to a child leash?
Amahté stared down at the vinyl cuff around his wrist.
He had thought Mary might have shut up if he acquiesced to her ministrations. I need a leash to keep track of you! she had said when he had somehow ended up across the street from the music store. He had laughed in her face and told her that leashes were for mongrels - they were - and a king could do as he pleased! She had stared down at him (in defeat, no doubt), before turning and leaving him to wander as he pleased.
A good half an hour later, she had caught him, snapped a cuff around his wrist and hauled him down the street like a belligerent Pomeranian panther. The little boy’s throat was raw from howling.
“You are going to be good for once, Amahté, today of all days,” she had threatened tersely from over a bag of groceries. His fury, overpowering in his misery and self-directed angst, made his scent dominate the area around them, made her eyes water. Less apple, more spice.
He had tugged and tugged and pulled, hoping she would let go. He picked at the cuff around his wrist, bit and gnaw, but couldn’t get it off. He belittled her in public, threw tantrums, curses, but they had fallen on deaf ears.
Amahté had never, ever hated someone so much before.
It was the quiet din of celebration that captured the boy’s attention. Milling at the corner, just a stone’s throw from the celebratory event, they stood. Facing the opposite direction. Amahté tugged on his leash.
“Let’s go.”
Mary tugged back, “We don’t have time.”
Amahté spun on his caretaker, glowering, “YOU don’t have time. I am a boy-king! I make time!”
For once, she looked unimpressed. Chewing on his inner cheek, Amahté turned away. He felt like he hadn’t seen anyone in ages. This was most certainly not fair. Mary was his caretaker, but he was his own man! He stole a glance over his shoulder at her; she was staring at a folder of music in her hands, pleasantly distracted.
The little Egyptian Scent sidled out into the street. She didn’t notice. He crept across the cobbles. She didn’t look up. The leash was offering a lot of give. Finally, a meter away, it tugged.
“I’ll stand here until I am hit by a car! And then you will have murdered a king!”
Mary pursed her lips, “I thought gods were immortal?”
Amahté never missed a beat, “I am wearing human flesh!”
The young woman stepped out into the street, impassive mask crumbling to reveal her weariness, “Please, Ama….” She looked down the street. A car was trundling down the road - talk about appearing on cue. Amahté followed her gaze.
“I’ll be hit,” he prompted. She stepped forward again, as though approaching a frightened animal. He stood his ground. The car was nearing.
“We’ll BOTH be hit, then!”
“No, we won’t. Come here, you silly b-- Amahté, don’t you dare. You get back here RIGHTNOW--”
A screech, a scream, and one loosened hand later, and the little boy was making a break for freedom.
And freedom smelt like Spiced Apples and looked like the tail end of a snapping leash. (( i'm ttly pretending he made it to the store or sommat. 8| i'll post again in a few... maybe. i dunno. ))

It looked like xe hadn't managed to get anyone's attention. Instead, they were all mobbing around the teenager who had trees growing off her. That was awfully strange. Though more open to magic than xir mother, Phoenix still didn't think many supernatural things were actually possible, and some he thought were absolutely absurd. Trees didn't grow off people, right? They grew off soil... or maybe fungus. Maybe she had fungus on her shoulders.
Eww.
Attempting to follow the twin scents, though, had brought Phoenix in range of not only Celyn, who xe decided to leave alone for the moment since he seemed to be talking to some people, but also a strange girl who looked cross-eyed and was asking for some kind of sweet. Intrigued by something else, the gregarious child decided that he would follow the crazy looking little girl instead.
"I think there's a guy with sweets in the crowd," offered Phoenix loudly, strolling over to the crazy girl. "Of course, there's a big crowd around him, so that might not be good." Xe stroked a fake beard and glanced up to the sky. Why anyone would want sweets was beyond xir understanding, but Phoenix did just want an excuse to talk.

Maira's head snapped towards Phoenix, eyes narrowed suspiciously.
"Hush," she hissed suddenly, pressing her finger against xir lips. "Hush, shush. You don't get to talk to me. You don't get to talk to no one ever again, never ever."
Looking alarmingly angry, Maira's head tilted to one side and she blinked, leaning forward until her nose was pressed against Phoenix's cheek.
"Oh, wait! You're not that boy," she said, looking relieved. "Or the girl. I think it was a boy. He told me not to push him but I did anyway and he fell and he hit his head and then he was a she, I think?"
Maira leaned back again, looking puzzled.
"No, that was on the tv-box last night. But that's okay. He was a she and then she was a zebra."
Nodding resolutely - yeah, that conclusion made total sense - Maira twirled around on her bare heel and poked Phoenix in the chest.
"I'm not s'posed to talk to strangers," she said confidently. "But that's okay 'cause I like you 'cause we've been talking but I'VE been doing all the talking so does a cat have your tongue or your throat or your heart? 'cause...'cause I'm afraid of cats. And you'll have to get whatever it ate back yourself, sorry-sorry."

...What?
The young one swore that xe had never felt so confused in xir life. What was that supposed to mean?! Xe couldn't talk, and then xe could, and then she confused him for a, err, what did New Ma call boys who became girls? A T zebra or something!
The medicinal child stood still for so long mainly because xe was absolutely baffled by all of the odd information. This girl's thoughts didn't even seem to go with each other... Why did xir tongue get eaten out by cats? There were no cats around, were there? The confused child glanced over his shoulder just to check before turning back to Maira.
Was there medicine for this? "I-I-uhhhhh." Phoenix was dumbfounded. Perhaps a metaphorical cat had grabbed xir tongue. Then, things to say hit him like a ton of bricks. "I don't like cats very much because they don't like to take baths, and baths are good for everyone. So if a cat had something of mine, I would probably let it keep it since it hadn't taken a bath in a while and touching something that it's dirty hands had touched would be gross because then I would get sick and I would have to spend all day cleaning and in bed. But I like you 'cause you're wearing a lot of bandages so you must be clean and you talk a lot."
It gave him time to absorb what she was saying, at least.

Picking at one of the rather dingy bandages on her arm, Maira listened with half an ear to Phoenix. Something about sickness and bed and cats being dirty? She was getting bored very quickly, shrugging her shoulders and rolling her head from side to side.
"I'm clean," she said sulkily, frowning at Phoenix. "Someone said I got bleached and that's why I'm all not-colored but I DO have color and you better not say I'm bleached 'cause I tasted it once and it made me SICK."
She paused, rubbing her nose thoughtfully.
"I lied. I tried to taste but then Jess found me and took it away and yelled at me," she said. Her expression darkened and she hunched, brooding. "I hate it when people yell it hurts when they yell."
She turned on Phoenix again, pushing xir shoulder hard and looking upset.
"DON'T YELL AT ME," she shrieked. "I HATE YELLING."

But xe said she was clean and that was a good thing! Phoenix didn't say she was bleached but she certainly looked very pale, there was no denying--why was she shrieking?!
As she declared she hated yelling, she yelled at Phoenix and made xir ears hurt. Not only that, but she had shoved xir rather hard, and Phoenix whimpered in both pain and fright. This girl had gone from baffling to absolutely terrifying in no time flat, and the poor medicinal child didn't know how else to react then by wrapping an arm around xirself to touch xir shoulder gently and stare in fear. For once, Phoenix was too scared to go straight to cleaning off where he had been touched.
There had to be medicine for this kind of loopy girl! Where could Phoenix get some, though? This girl needed it soon! "But, but," Phoenix stuttered, trying to get out that he hadn't done anything wrong, "I didn't yell. I just said you were clean which is good, right?" There was nothing Phoenix could think of that would actually rationalize her illogical behavior. The saying that she was clean had nothing to do with painful yelling! Well, maybe clean had to do with bleach when it came to clothes. New Ma bought bleach sometimes. Xe had never heard her yell about bleach, though.
"Your screaming gives me ear pain," whined Phoenix. Maybe she just wanted the medicinal one to say that yelling was painful so xe wouldn't yell at her. Yeah, that was it. She was just making sure xe wasn't going to yell...

"Yay!" Giggling Remi was glad to be off the ground. Who knew so many kids would come for the candy! If she had known maybe she wouldn't have ran over. Hearing the little voice of her friend Remi squealed in delight. "Celyn! You're here! I heard about the candy. Some meanies pushed me down then stepped on my pretty outfit." Pouting herself Remi noticed the upset look of her best friend.
"I'm sure we'll get candy! This really pretty person said we could get candy! So don't be upset I don't like when you're upset!" Frowning Remi wondered how to make Celyn happy. Suddenly an idea hit her and she grinned brightly. "I know something that'll make you feel better! Excuse me Mr. Ment but I need to pretty please get down." Squirming around Remi looked at Ment with puppy dog eyes. She needed to get to Celyn to make him happy!

The young churro boy was delighted to see Ment make it possible for the two of them to get to him faster. "How're you today?" He asked Ment cheerfully, using one of the polite phrases his dad had taught him to greet people. He felt special and awesome when he said fancier phrases! Of course, he giggled after saying it, breaking the formal facade.
When Remi said the meanies pushed her over, the little boy pouted. "Aww! They're a bunch of pushy meanie-heads," Celyn wasn't very insulting. "I hope it's not ruined too bad! But we'll get candy, so things will be better, right?" What was Remi's idea? The little boy tilted his head curiously as he watched Remi ask Ment to let her down. What did she have in mind? Ooh, maybe it had something to do with sweets! Or perhaps it had to do with the fact that she was awesome! The little boy began to bounce on the tips of his feet, excited to see what Remi would do once Ment let her down.

Vanyel made a late, hesitant entrance, her citrus gaze shooting left and right in quiet worry. As much as she remembered, this was the first time attending an event without Kitten, and to compound that: she was late arriving. Scanning the crowd, she could see most everyone had already, in some way, paired themselves into little crowds. Of course she spotted Orpheus and Kaoru, though she was confused at the odd actions taken by the older vampire. Recognizable as well was Ment and Phoenix - but for the most part the other faces were totally new to her.
Shuffling to the side, Vanyel simply waited, either for someone to notice her, or something to happen. Wasn't there supposed to be dancing? Or was that not today? Either way, she was going to be patient, because patience is a virtue.

Moanna simply could not take it any longer. The amount of people crowding around her and Crystal was beginning to be absolutely too much for her. In the sky with the stars, despite how many there were, they were miles away and gave the moon a feeling of personal space, but here with so many meteors in sights there was no space for her.
Almost without realizing it Moanna had already dipped back into the crowd where no one was paying attention to her, and as she lingered on through the oblivious throng of people she spotted someone. Hesitant, with a curious orange light about her. Moanna decided to greet this person and perhaps get a peaceful place amongst such a bright star.
As she made her way through the the people towards Vanyel, something bang into her and she fell too the ground, a dark skinned boy toppling down next to her.
