"Good evening," Aesculus answered and nodded politely as well as giving a slight bow. A soft smile lighted his lips as he turned to the woman who had just walked up. He had only vague ideas, and frankly, he didn't care too terribly for all the masks.
"How fair thee this evening?"

Filix glanced at both for a few moments, trying to figure out who each of them might be. She had a good idea by now, even more so since the Phantom had made her heart race just a tiny bit more... there was only a few that had that effect with a smile alone... but she wasn't going to voice her ideas. "I'm quite well... had an encounter with Rosa already, she's in that direction if anyone feels like commenting on her hair."
If that comment didn't give Filix away, nothing would. Her face had lit up in a slightly wicked grin, as she gestured behind her. The mask didn't hide all of her face, and it didn't mask her voice either. But Filix didn't mind, she felt a bit odd. She'd normally greet friends with a hug, but now she wasn't sure which were her closer friends. "How fair you gentlemen this evening? Have you both just arrived?"

"Yes, just. My Kithain showed a great amount of disdain lately for any sort of... well, shall we say a formal social affair? I was trying to persuade her, but all to no avail. Unfortunately, this caused my tardiness as well." He was almost certain he recognized her now, but he wasn't going to jump to conclusions or anything of the sort- if he was wrong, he'd commit social suicide of a sort.
And of course, he completely ignored the comment about Rosa.
"Do not tell me a fine lady of this court could not find an escort to this ball? I am ashamed on behalf of all the gentlemen if this is the case."

"My kithain couldn't contain her excitement... I'm ashamed to admit she is the one that choose this costume. It's not too terrible though, just a little tight." Filix added the last part quickly, she didn't want to hurt Neith's feelings if the half-elf was listening and added, "Perhaps your kithain will come down later?"
Filix's face went a little pink underneath the mask, and she shook her head a little too quickly. "I've not spent as much time around fey in the past month. So I have no escort, and I can only blame it on the lack of time I spent with others. But what about you, Phantom? Could you not find a beautiful noblewoman to escort?"

Smiling, Feles handed over the cup eagerly, watching the girl sip from it. Perfect! "I not princess," he said, looking down at himself. Well, he DID look like a girl in this getup... yet another reason to turn his Kithain into a scratching post later. "You princess?" he asked, managing to keep himself from wincing at the fact that he really was kissing up to a HUMAN at this point. Still, it was for the greater good, so he'd stomach it.
Just this once.

"No, I have no consort tonight. My Kithain, being a woman of nobility in my own mind was to be my "date," for she's the woman I care for the most at present... but she is as stubborn as the night is long.
"Your Kithain has good taste, my dear. You wear a beautiful gown tonight, one certainly that makes the day brighter and tries to wistfully compete with your own beauty. I'm surprised that you are not at ease in such a beautiful ensemble."

"Oh... you look pretty anyway." Winny told the boy, and puffed up as she answered, "Sometimes, I'm called a Princess! My mommy says I'm a princess. ...Do you want to play a game?"
"I... Prehaps later tonight, should she not turn up, you could return to ask her again?" Filix went red again, but she kept her eyes locked in his, not looking away. She shifted in the shoes, one hand brushing at the silky fabric. Filix didn't notice her actions, she was too busy reminding herself that she was stronger than this. She didn't just melt at pretty words! ...at least, not normally.
"You flatter too much, my Lord, many women here are dressed in costumes that outshine my own." Filix replied, her voice a bit weaker and softer than usual.

He laughed lightly and made a wide gesture around the room. "Really, then who? No, my dear, they are not more beautiful. I fancy that everyone is beautiful, or handsome, in their own way. People and Fey are like flowers or colors; they are all so unique and different they cannot be compared. All people are equal in their beauty, no one is better nor worse, unless a dark heart and tainted wishes shine through their husk of a body and reveal their true selves..." He paused a moment as if caught in his thoughts, before shaking his head to himself.
"I am sorry. I ramble and often find myself in another realm entirely, one filled with quite boring and inappropriate discussion topics."

Game? What good were games?
"Sure," he replied, smiling softly as he watched her. He'd positioned himself so that he was facing towards the door, and he hadn't seen any of the other Moon Court enter yet. This was going to be a long night. "Wha kinda game?"

Winny put the barely touched drink down, and clapped her hands in delight. "We could play... um... PRINCE AND PRINCESSES! I'll be the princess, and you be the prince, and all the adults are bad evil people, and we got to hide from them... I can make you a crown too, there's lots of paper to make one from!"
"I cannot see how you find your ramblings inappropiate and boring." Filix replied quickly, "They just stir the mind into thinking about a subject on a deeper level, and it's a rare person that I've spoken to who can provoke minds like that."
She glanced around at the others, but Filix couldn't reconize anyone straight off. She glanced back at the Phantom, adding in a quiet voice so that only those nearby could hear, Filix leaning in to give him a friendly hug at the same time, "Although, it also betrays your identity rather well, Aesculus."

The fey smiled at both the other fey that he was standing by. As they continued to talk he silently excused himself so the other two could talk alone, without another such as himself there. He glanced around in the general direction Filix had said Rosa was in and slowly began heading over there, grabbing a drink for himself and Rosa along the way.
"Greetings mi'lady." He began, "You're hair is looking quite nice this evening." He had decided to do what Filix had sort of suggested and commented on her hair. "Care for a drink?"

Damn. Feles thought quickly, then snickered as he watched her. "I saw game like that before. 'Dults had tea, like dis." He lifted his own cup then, putting on a snooty expression with half lidded eyes as he held the cup with one pinky straight out before drinking the punch.

He laughs and if there were any blushing or flushing of his cheeks it was certainly covered well by the white mask. Perhaps he had been "caught," but it apparently didn't bother him too much.
"To be honest, I care not for guises like these. I feel more at ease dressed simply as myself... although this is quite an interesting spectacle. Some of my readings have suggested that our costumes are a way of expressing the hidden self we hide from society and the court." Of course, he wasn't about to explain much more- he'd have to divulge more about his personal self, and that was one subject that he didn't discuss well, in detail, or comfortably.

The patting that came from a feathered fan Rosa had been using on herself ceised as Alces had come over. She had been keeping an eye on her sister, quite certain but still partially unsure that it was indeed her sister - for she could think of nobody else malicious enough to tourment her beloved hair without cause. Except Aesculus.. and he didnt have "enough of a backbone- unless it was done in private snakey little meetings with her King."
This thought made her scoff somewhat triumphantly, and might have seemed rather odd to Alces when he walked over. "Greetings." She eventually said, looking him over slowly. "That would be lovely.. Thank you, sir." She said in an only mildly impressed voice while taking one of the drinks, staring into its contents cautiously before sipping at it. After doing so, she glanced up, "What.. did you just say about my hair?" She asked in a rather testy tone, making sure she had .. heard that right.

He watched as she took one of the drinks from his hand and brought the now empty hand back down to his side. "You're welcome Miss." He smiled at her and had been raising his own drink to his lips when she had asked a question. Alces lowered the cup and was a bit confused as to why she seemed angry at the comment.
"I said your hair looks quite nice this evening." He repeated and gave her a kind smile, "Because it does." After answering he took a drink from his cup, after which he placed the bottom on his other hand, using it as a makeshift plate.
