"Zyk is my light," Zinnia said. "I bet he can see better than anyone, even though he doesn't have eyes. I..." Zinnia cut herself off and glanced apologetically at her pokemon. She wasn't sure if he was sensitive of his blindness or not. But then, could the zubat see the apology on her face? Oh great, Zinnia thought huffily to herself. Zyk isn't a baby; he's been with me long enough to know what I mean... Probably... She shook her head and continued on.

Zyk fluffed up against Zinnia to comfort her. He sensed her unease, though her words were confident. Maybe she was finally getting nervous about going into a stranger's camp? Zyk puffed up even more, this time for courage. He would protect her no matter what!

Adriel tilted his head slightly, but said nothing as he continue walking. It amused him sometimes how people saw their pokemon as. He hoped for silence the rest of the way, but he decided maybe if he kept quiet..

It took a while, but they made it to camp. A chair sit next to a dead fire, a tent was set up, along with a hammock, which was quickly taken over by the large persian, and a small cart, which contents were hidden under a thick loin.

The healer kneeled and lit a new fire, throwing some papers and sticks into it before sitting onto the chair with a groan of exhaustion.

A pidgeot peeked out from under his wing at them and chirped his greeting before going back to trying to slumber.

"Wooooow...." Zinnia sighed, squatting in front of the fire with her hands out in front of her. "It's like you live here!" Zinnia stared at Adriel wide-eyed for almost a minute before she realized the stupidity of her statement. "I mean you're really good at setting up a camp," she amended, laughing with embarrassment. She glanced at the large bird. He looked quite beautiful.

Zinnia scanned the camp. Her eyes slid right over the cart; it did not look interesting. She smiled at the persian in the hammock. Other than that, the place looked rather empty... "So, what's your name?" Zinnia asked, turning back to Adriel. She thought that she might get an answer if she surprised him with a question. Most people said their names without thinking; Zinnia would be happy to just get one shred of information about this mysterious man. It was a challenge!

He arched a brow at her comment for a moment before he rose from his feet and walk to the cart. Coming back a moment later with a second foldable chair and setting up. Adriel couldn't help but smirk at her attempt. "I thought I said I don't give my name out just because someone asked." He went back to his chair and made a notion for her to sit before he began preparing dinner on the rising fire. "Thought some people call Hartless..."

Zinnia sat on the offered chair, grinning. "Well, Hartless, you seem to have a heart, in my opinion!" Zinnia eyed the food appreciatively. "But if you don't tell your name to people who ask, who do you tell it to?" Zin tilted her head to one side as she spoke.

Zyk was cocking his ears and squeaking at intervals in order to scan the camp. He sensed nothing out of the ordinary, although anything could be in the boxish object covered with a blanket-- the cart.

"Perhaps I should amend my statement, I give my name out to whoever I believe deserves to hear it." The healer continue his cooking slowly, the smirk not leaving his face. "You think giving you some food and a chair makes me have a heart? Physically, yes, I suppose I do, but to tell you the truth, I must agree with those who gave me the nickname. I am quiet heartless when it comes to several points of my attitude towards humanity."

The healer stirred the food. "For example, if a child is born retarded, I believe that it should be put down, just like breeders put down growlithe pups who are born retarded. Fair is fair." His purple eyes flicker for a moment to Zinnia then back to the food.

Zinnia's eyes widened. "You're kidding!" she said loudly. "Both of those things are wrong! How could anyone kill a baby before it even had a chance at life? I know that pokemon are very intelligent; just because most of them can't speak doesn't mean they aren't..." Zinnia stopped. She knew that it would be pointless to yell her opinions at this man; hadn't he just said that he was heartless towards humanity? But the fact that he had two pokemon almost proved that he was quite kind towards pokemon. His relationship with the persian, at least, Zinnia had seen was strong.

Zyk did another scan of the camp before he started nibbling on his foot in a satisfied manner. It seemed that, for now, all was well.

Dr. Hart leaned back on his seat as he let the soup brew for a bit. "Indeed, both things are horrible, yet, one of them is applied freely without consent of the pokemon parents themselves. So if the breeder has the right to kill an offspring because its a defective, shouldn't a doctor have the right to relieve the human parents from a defective offspring? After all, taking care of one is highly stressful and could be life-long, since defective offspring might not be capable of becoming independent?" His purple eyes looked around silently. "You might think my reasoning is cruel, but I am just poiting out that if humans do this to other species just because they themselves are the 'superior' breed, shouldn't those methods be apply to themselves? I have nothing against 'defective' offsprings, as you can see yourself, I myself are one and so is one of my pokemon. He was born blind and my cells is incapable of producing enough pigment to give me a correct skin color."

The man stirred the food for a moment before serving it into bowls for Faraon, himself, the girl and her pokemon. The pidgeot was long asleep and did not want part on the late night dinner. "Pokemon themselves see when their offspring will survive or not. Faraon's mother saw that he was capable of surviving, even thought he lack sight. And she was right, as he did survive for quiet a long time before he was caught by a trainer, who did not understand that if a blind meowth could survive out in the wilderness without support from others in a snowy environment it means that this creature can make make one of the stronger pokemons out there." His eyebrow arched. "Now if the pokemon parent believes its offspring cannot survive without support, it has two options, one is to kill its offspring, or gain the support needed." He looked towards the sky. "You know what a persian mother does when one of her kitten is born with a defection or disease that would prevent the kitten from survive on its own? She feeds the kitten until its weave from her milk before taking it where people live and leaving it in a place where a human, that she trusts, will find it. People think that they are finding this pokemon by chance, they don't realize that they were chosen by a very good mother to look after her offspring."

Zinnia stared at the ground as she listened. She wasn't sure what to make of it; clearly, Hartless was not as evil as he seemed at first. Obviously he was glad that neither he nor his persian had been killed for their defectiveness-- though Zinnia could hardly count pale skin and blindness a serious setback. Zyk was blind as well, after all. "So... if people stopped killing pokemon, then would you change your mind about people?" she asked tentatively.

Dr Hart chuckled. "Somewhat, but not entirely. Humanity is an extremely faulty race." He tilted his head. "Besides, humans will never stop their ways, they have been trying for centuries and look, they have done no improvement. They have only improve how to kill faster and in larger numbers."

"... Mm..." Zinnia clenched her hands into fists, feeling helpless. This man was unlike any other she had ever met... Her instinct was to yell at Hartless what she believed to be the truth-- that people could and would change for the better-- but she knew that it would be useless. She sighed, then leaped to her feet, suddenly getting her second wind. "So! Hartless!" she shouted, pointing an accusatory finger at the doctor.

Zyk was startled enough by Zin's actions that he fluttered into the air and onto a tree branch, where he promptly flipped upside down, wings wrapped tightly around his body like a blanket. "Zu," he said, slightly annoyed.

The man barely blinked, have been accused in such manner many a time. "Yes? What is it?" He smile was empty of most warm emotions that would come along with one.

The persian perched on the hammock gave a startle, but he lower his ears against his skull and gave a huff.

Zinnia took a deep breath and began, "I'd bet you anything that--" but she was interrupted by the appearance of a certain black mew, almost indistinguishable in the darkness.

Shadow Mew blinked, looked at Zinnia, then up at Zyk, and finally at the man and other pokemon that was there. She remained silent for a while, purple eyes glowing faintly in the night. she spoke finally. Her eyes were on Adriel and she did not act as if she knew Zinnia or Zyk at all.

"Oh..." Zinnia said, sitting back down. "I wasn't expecting that..." This was the first time Zinnia had seen the mew at night since the time Shadow Mew rescued her from the river the first time they met.

Adriel looked up to the strangely black mew, he arched an eyebrow, he admit that he was surprise, thought it didn't really show in his face. At this point of his life, he was quiet used to seeing strange sights. He just wished they would stop getting stranger and stranger.

He couldn't hear the physic, his mind block keeping her words out. His violet eyes looked around, as if expecting something else to jump out. Where was that annoying blue-purple and white furball of psychic energy when you need it?

His eyes looked up when he felt a tinge on the back of his mind. Ah, there he was. Over-protective stupid furball....

A shift on the feeling and the healer looked across from himself, out towards the forest in the darkest of shadows, he could see two glowing blue eyes.

He turned to Zinnia. "I was...." though to what he was referring was a bit sketchy.

"Hm?" Zinnia said, looking truly startled. "Have you met her before? Did she tell you she was coming?" She had assumed that Adriel meant the mew that was floating before them. She had not noticed the glowing eyes.

Shadow Mew, however, did notice. (here, Zinnia complained about being referred to by her full name) The black mew felt a chill down her spine.
