((I'm actually starting to feel a lot better. ^_^ I think I'm finally fighting back whatever this thing is that I caught. It's been going around work, apparantly.))

Angel worried for a moment that she might have unwittingly embarrassed him somehow. She hadn't meant to do that; she only wanted to make a point. The question he posed was one she had asked herself often, but she knew human nature.

"It would cause problems, yes," She started, seeming to ponder over it as she tried to explain it. "It may not be done intentionally, though. It could be a simple miscommunication, but that is when being thorough is important....to make sure that no critical errors are made in those situations. I would hope that no one would lie to me on purpose in a battle.....though I'm sure it has probably happened in the past somewhere, in cases where people do not like each other to that kind of extreme."

About to dip into somberness, she was pleasantly surprised to see him sit up and open his arms up for a hug. The smile that crossed Angel's face was perhaps as bright as the new snow as she leaned in and hugged him in a friendly squeeze. It had been a while since she had hugged someone.

"I'm glad you like me. I wouldn't want to get on your bad side." She added with a giggle, then began to wonder; he was so sweet. Was it possible that he even HAD a bad side?

[OoC: That's good to hear! Lots of sleep and fluids, yes? ^^]

"That's mean." Keiran pondered her words carefully, and somehow he could imagine the Drill Sergeant lying to someone and then laughing when that someone got eaten by a centipede. Now all these thoughts seemed quite morbid, but in Keiran's mind, it was all chibified into a cute little scenario that would've made anyone laugh. The humor was quickly lost when he imagined himself as the victim with a centipede chasing after him due to the Drill Sergeant's direction.

The smile on his face widened as Angel accepted his hug, and he squeezed her lightly before pulling away, face glowing in happiness. Keiran hadn't hugged many people outside of his family before because most of the recruits here kind of ran away when he asked for a hug. But he was glad his new friend liked him enough not to be scared - he knew he could be a little rambunctious at times.

"What bad side?" he asked, furrowing his eyebrows in thought. Keiran had heard people talk about this 'bad side' several times but he had no idea what he meant. He looked down at his stomach, his right arm and then left arm, and then he tried to turn his head to look at his back. "Am I ugly somewhere? Is there something sticking out of my butt?! Oh no, it's my head, isn't it? That's the bad side!"

Keiran placed one hand on the back of his head with a look of slight horror, wondering if there was a foot growing out of it. He didnt feel anything...

((About normal sleep but no real strenuous activities, medicine and warm clothing. Oh, and suppliments. It's saved my life many times.))

Angel smiled, happy to see that he enjoyed hugs. She admired him in a way, being so free with how he felt. She felt comfortable being the same way now that she knew he was so open.

When he made the wrong assumption to the meaning of 'bad side' she couldn't stop herself from laughing as he examined himself and asked the panicked questions. She was almost tempted to tell him he had grown a tail and was becomming a wolf.....but she wasn't that mean.

"No no no...haha....that's not what I meant," She tried to talk through her laughter, taking deep breaths to calm down. "When someone says something about getting on someone's 'bad side' they usually mean their temper or being disliked by them somehow; basically somehow bringing their wrath down upon them. You don't really seem like you have a temper."

Angel was quite glad to believe that he didn't seem to have a single vengeful bone in his body....but of course, it was usually the nicer ones that could have the worst kind of wrath if they were provoked enough. She only hoped that it would take A LOT of provoking to get to Keiran.

[OoC: You should sleep more. XD]

Keiran stopped his examination when he heard her laugh, glancing over at Angel with a confused expression. But the confusion disappeared as he found that her laugh was contagious and he couldn't help but grin as well, though he had no idea what could possibly be so funny. Maybe he had grown whiskers and a tail so she thought he looked cute?! Keiran touched his cheeks.

"Oh, a temper," he responded with an understanding nod, having heard that term used many times though it took him awhile to figure out that it did not mean his temperature. Keiran grinned sheepishly as he put his hands back down on his lap, but glad that Angel got a good laugh out of his antics. He wasn't feeling bad, rather good that he made her happy in some way. And he was very glad he wasn't sprouting any extra limbs, because that would've worried him... unless he was turning into a wolf, that might've been fun.

"I hope I don't have a temper, because then I would be like the Drill Sergeant!" he exclaimed, before leaning in and lowering his voice. "Or worse, like Nightwing!" Keiran had no idea how either of them lived like that, always acting so mean - didn't they get tired? And that wolf always looked like he was scowling.

Keiran scrunched his face into what he thought looked mean and scary, baring his teeth as he feigned a wolf growl as he imitated the Drill Sergeant's wolf. "Gr, I'm Nightwing!" he grunted in a low voice, arms spread over him as his hands curled down to act as claws. "Rawr!"

((Haha, that's what everyone thinks XD))

Angel smiled at him, curious as to how he wasn't sure if he had a temper or not. Then again, he didn't seem like the kind of person who had ever experienced being mad or any such thing towards another person.

"Yeah, seriously!" She added to his comment abou the Drill Sergeant and Nightwing, giggling a bit when he decided to pretend to be Nightwing.

"Eeek! No, don't eat me!" She feigned being scared, though with the smile on her face it was hard as she curled up and held her arms in front of her as if she were going to defend herself. "Oh who will save me from the dreaded Nightwing?!"

Now Angel couldn't stop her giggling. She hadn't had fun like this in quite a while. For once, she felt like a kid again.

[OoC: Well, I sleep 8-10 hours a day, so more sleep for me would be 12 hours. XD And I hope you don't mind Keiran pulling Angel up. =X]

"You cannot escape me, the evil wolf!" Keiran continued, trying to keep his face scrunched in a dark scowl but failing miserably as he broke into a smile as well. Then he jumped to his feet and spread his arms up above him, trying to look scary as he towered over Angel. "Rawr!"

Keiran had been about to say more, but a dark shadow behind Angel had him looking at the newcomer to the scene, and his face dropped from his playfulness to one of fright. Not the 'There's a drooling centipede, run for you life!' type of scared, but more of a 'There's an evil wolf behind you, run for your sanity!' type of fear.

Nightwing had caught the voices a few moments ago, but he had chosen to ignore them as he padded back to his den for a nice nap. Then he heard his name and he couldn't help but wander over, only to see these two recruits making fun of him!

The dark wolf lifted his lips to reveal white fangs and a deep rumbling growl erupted from his throat.

All Keiran needed was for the wolf to growl and he had tugged Angel up from the ground. "RUN!" he shouted before taking off in the opposite direction, not bothering to see if she was following him. He figured that Angel was a smart girl and if she valued her life, she'd be flying after him.

Nobody wanted to stick around when Nightwing was mad.

((XD No problem. She'd probably be grateful))

Angel couldn't stop her laughing as he tried to be fearsome, falling back into the snow as she tried her best to pretend to be afraid.....which was even harder when he smiled. She saw his eyes look up and wondered who else might be behind her. The falling of his expression so suddenly made her laugher die immediately. That wasn't good.

She sat up and turned around in time to see the wolf's bared teeth and hear the growl. Keiran tugged her up right as she set herself to jump up. To his shout of 'run' she didn't need a second telling. Her feet pushed her right after Keiran, picking up speed quickly as she ran in long strides.

"Crud crud crud crud CRUD!!" Was her mantra as she ran as fast as she could after her new friend. The fun was over. She just prayed that the wolf wasn't following them.

Fortunately for the children, Nightwing was not in the mood to be chasing after recruits as fun as that may have sounded at the moment. He had had a long and tiring day consisting of watching the obstacle participants and he really wanted that nap. And since he was satisfied with the fear that reeked from the running pair, he went along on his evil little way.

Keiran did not dare to look back and had no idea that the wolf was not chasing after them, the fear for his life overriding all senses and logic. He could hear the crunching of snow behind and prayed that it was Angel keeping up with him and not Nightwing closing in on him.

Darting around the corner of the academy, he noticed a rather large tree and recalled that wolves could not climb trees. Or at least he hoped they couldn't, because Keiran doubt that two recruits could outrun an evil wolf.

Immediately jumping up the base of the tree, Keiran pulled himself up on a low branch. He paused and looked back to see if Angel was following, and saw her running his way.

"Over here, quick!" he shouted as he reached a hand down to help her up the tree. Keiran was too panicked to notice that there was no wolf behind Angel.

Like Keiran, Angel didn't think twice about turning to look back. That was one of the ways you could get yourself killed all too easily. She kept running, keeping the boy in her sights. She was perhaps only a few paces behind him, but she still didn't want to let him out of her line of vision.

When she saw him duck around the corner of the academy, she followed suit and saw him climb up onto a low branch of a large tree. She wasn't sure if it would matter, but still.....a way out was a way out.

Angel didn't need a second command and grabbed his hand while leaping up onto the branch, already looking around for branches suitable for climbing.

"Hurry! Head up!" She called down to him as she grabbed into another thick branch and pulled herself upwards, using her shoes to walk on the trunk.

Keiran helped Angel up the tree as she found her foot, waiting patiently as she searched for holds and footings, allowing her to climb up first. Then when she called down to him, he nodded and quickly climbed after her.

Or at least he tried, except two branches up, Keiran's shoe slipped on a moist part of the tree and he found himself hurtling back down towards the ground. Fortunately, he was only a couple of feet up and the fall was short, and the snow on the ground cushioned what would have been a painful impact.

Reflex had Keiran curling into a protective ball as he hit the ground and rolled. Then he remembered why they had climbed the tree in the first place, so he started flailing his arms and legs wildly about as he screamed loudly, hoping to scare away the wolf (that wasn't there).

"NOOO!! GET AWAY!! DON'T EAT ME!!! NNOOO!! I'M TOO YOUNG TO DIE!! NOOOOOOOO!!! DON'T TAKE ME!! NOT THE LIGHT!!!"

Angel had pulled herself probably halfway up the tree when she heard the clear sound of something slipping on the bark. She looked over her shoulder in tim eto see Keiran fall back down on the snow-laden ground. Her eyes widened and a loud gasp escaped her as she immediately forgot about her own safety and became more concerned for him.

"Keiran!" Was the first thing that came out of her mouth, as if to let him know she was there. She swung herself down and landed on a thick lower branch with almost cat-like grace She might have felt proud of herself........until she slipped on a spot of slush and came tumbling down into the snow with a fairly loud crunching thud.

"Ow," She mumbled, the snow cushioning but still hard to suddenly drop on. She could hear Keiran screaming and forced herself to roll over, push up and crawl over to him. She tried to grab one of his flailing arms by the wrist and hold gently, but firmly.

"He....didn't even follow us." She admits almost sheepishly, feeling rather stupid suddenly for many reasons.
PostPosted: Sun Mar 29, 2009 1:01 am

In his panic, Keiran was not paying attention to his surroundings and did not realize that Angel had called his name or that she had fallen down as well. If he had, he would've quickly come out of his stupor and rushed to her side. But he didn't, so he continued to scream and flail.

Until something grabbed him on the wrist and Keiran stilled, completely quiet as his muscles tensed. His eyes were squeezed shot as he saw his life flashing behind his eyelids, and he succumbed to his fate - if Nightwing wanted to eat him... "Make it quick!"

...then Keiran realized that Angel was speaking next to him. He pried his eyes open and saw her holding onto his arm, and not rows of large white teeth. A big sigh of relief came out of his mouth as he sat up. Realizing what she had said, Keiran blushed and started laughing, feeling quite stupid for running, climbing a tree, falling down the tree, and then flailing around like an idiot. But in retrospect, the whole thing was very fuuny.

"Now I'm tired," he commented, realizing he was panting rather heavily. Keiran fell back onto the snow. But even his tiredness couldn't shut him up. "I wonder why he didn't follow? He loves to chase after recruits. I wonder if he's ever eaten a recruit. Do you think he can climb a tree? I was kind of surprised that we were outrunning him, but I guess he wasn't even running after us! Maybe he got tired, or maybe we don't smell good? Or maybe he's trying to trick us and he's waiting around the corner!"

Angel was glad when he stopped flailing, which allowed her a moment to finally collapse face first into the snow. Her cheeks and nose were getting icy cold really fast, but she didn't care. She could hear him start laughing and, of course, laughter is contagious....so it wasn't long until she was laughing hysterically right along with him.

Rolling onto her side to allow herself some air and more room to laugh, it seemed that as their embarrassment died down their fatigue became all the more apparant. She suddenly realized that her legs burned and her wrist and shoulder were throbbing. She probably hit them pretty hard when she fell. Angel could have probably fallen asleep right then in the snow...but Keiran's never-ceasing voice kept her aware. Bending her head back to look over at him she half-smiled.

"Nah," She shrugged as she tried to sit up, "I think he's had too much of recruits lately. I mean, with the obstacle course training going on, he's probably getting more exercise than he thinks he needs." She giggled a bit as she pushed herself upright, then winced as soon as she put weight and force on her arm.

"Ow ow ow. Dangit, I think I sprained my wrist." She massaged her bones a little, trying to see how far she could flex them and if there were any restrictions.
PostPosted: Sun Mar 29, 2009 11:47 pm

Keiran continued to laugh along with Angel, pleased that she was not angry that they had been running and climbing for no reason. People often got annoyed at him for making big deals out of nothing, though he never really thinks he's doing anything over the top. Keiran had always been a cheerful and optimistic boy, so nothing really bothered him, and he always tried to make others feel the same way. He knew he couldn't change the negative thinkers, but he still tried. Which was why he was always happy when he made others happy, or at least laugh.

"That's okay, I think Nightwing is getting a little fat," he whispered with a giggle, pushing himself off the ground to sit up as well. Keiran was a bit tired from the sporadic running, but sitting up was less pressure on his chest. His breath came out in pants that created puffs of steam as they escaped his mouth. Yet he was feeling warm after that run.

Keiran glanced at Angel in concern when she expressed her pain, crawling closer to her to examine her hand. At least she seemed to be able to move it without a lot of pain, which by what he recalled, meant it probably wasn't broken. "What happened? Did you hurt your hand climbing the tree?"

Injuries normally didn't phaze Angel all that much. She had a habit of getting hurt when she was younger and, between her accidents and her father telling her to toughen up, she had developed a fairly high pain threshhold. It proved useful as she trained at the academy. Yet now, after a rather sudden fall, she felt her wrist and shoulder actually paining her.

"I think I hurt it when I fell out of the tree, actually," She mentioned as she flexed her fingers slowly and turned her wrist, which caused her to wince. "Ow. I hope I didn't sprain it. Maybe I just bruised it and my shoulder, which means it'll go away in a few days. If it starts swelling up a lot in the next few hours, I might have to see a medic. Doesn't hurt too bad, though." She spoke in a way that was half to him and half thinking out loud. She was satisfied with her own conclusion and decided she could be alright.

"I think you may be right about Nightwing," She said with a grin, "He seems to have gotten a little bigger over the years, and I don't mean vertically." She spoke on a whisper, her eyes darting around to check that the furry fanged death machine wasn't nearby.
