Silarial felt bad for both Xiang and Toshiro, but the truth had to out someday, after all. Allowing the two of them to settle their own issues was the best way - she was in no position to offer advice here.
She couldn't help but stare at Cadeyrn at his last words, though. Did he mean, literally, breakfast as in food? Or...?
Arching a delicate eyebrow, she picked her way over to the next bush to allow Toshiro and Xiang some privacy.
"Try the berries and leaves over here, they're pretty good." She said stiffly, unsure of exactly what he meant. "And by the way... what is your name?"

Xiang turned away. She'd hurt him, she shouldn't be around anyone. "It's not your fault," she muttered, starting to sniffle. "It's mine. You're my 'brother,' so I just can't see you any other way," she said miserably. "And I hurt you. It's all my fault." She stopped eating and walked away, more tears falling more freely. She didn't entirely realize how much her creamy coat, scales, and mane and tail caught the shy rays of sun piercing through the leaves, and she wasn't in a mood to care. All she could think of was that she'd hurt her "brother," and didn't deserve to stay in the presence of two amazing kirin like Silarial and the handsome winged stallion. She definitely wanted to get to know Silarial better, and she also definitely wanted to meet and get to know the handsome black stallion, but...she'd taken Toshiro's happiness, so how could she ask for her own?

Toshiro blinked in mild surprise. That's what she was upset about? Cause she had hurt him? He quickly went after her when she started to walk away. "Xiang, wait," he said, blocking her way and gently nuzzling away her tears. "Don't blame yourself for anything, I'm fine, really. I've always known that you see me as a brother, I just sorta kinda secretly hoped otherwise. No harm done, sis." He said the last part with a smile, trying his best to cheer her up. He then jokingly added, "Though I'm a bit offended that you thought me so fragile as that. Give me some credit here." He chuckled lightly and nudged her once more. "Chin up, yes?"

His tail gave a slight flick, still a bit uneasy. It had been a while since he had been around other Kirin. Yet as some would think he wasn't a complete loaner. Of course there were times where he had to get away and then there were other times where he rather not be alone.
He followed her to the bush, eying the berries and then back at her for a slight second before he took a mouthful from the bush. He swallowed his mouthful, "There sweet," he replied "Just like you," He then took another batch chewing on them thoughtfully as well. When he was finished he spoke his name "Cadeyrn, yours?"

She let him wipe away her tears, but said nothing for a long while, not even meeting his eyes. "It's not that you're weak," she said finally, shuddering as she did so, "but it's that I did something mean like that. What if I do it again? You wanted to be happy with me, but I'm taking that happiness away. I can't ask for my own, Toshiro. You're not fragile," she sniffled, "I'm a bad sister." Sobs again wracked her. She had never wanted to hurt anyone like this, least of all her own "brother," and it might prove all too easy to inflict pain again.
She proceeded on her way out of Toshiro's sight, back toward the river, not looking back, not once. When she got there, she walked along the banks until she found a secluded spot to curl up. She glanced into the water at her tear-streaked cream-and-brown visage. Nothing special, and certainly nothing worth anyone's heart. How long she lay there, miserable, lost, alone, and incredibly, guilty, she could not say, but at least she wasn't hurting anyone anymore. She fell asleep, tears still falling.

Toshiro was momentarily shocked by Xiang's reply. How could she possibly see herself that way? Was she blind? Toshiro was happy because of Xiang. Her cheeriness had always helped to uplift his own, and he had only been kidding about the weak thing. Even if the only love they could share was that of siblings he was fine with it.
In his daze it took about half a minute before it registered in his mind that she had dashed away. "Xiang!" he called out, galloping off in the direction he had seen her go. He had to find her and set her straight. There was no way that he could just leave her hurt and alone right now.

Silarial paused in her chewing, and a slow rose blush spread from her face and all the way down her neck. "You... are very kind," she murmured, embarrassed. Nobody had every complimented her this way before. "Call me Silarial."
She started at the commotion, and whipped around just in time to see Toshiro's heading back towards the river. Xiang was gone as well, which meant... oh, this wasn't good.
"Caydern, I'm sorry... I know you really like these berries, but Toshiro and Xiang I consider friends, even if I just met them. And I think it's my fault for causing trouble between them." The mare bit her lower lip, feeling guilty. "You can stay here and breakfast if you like, or follow me and munch along the way; I'd like to make sure they're at least alright."

He had waited too long to chase after her. Search as he may, the stallion could not tell which way she had gone. He eventually slowed down, giving up for the time being. I'm such an idiot, Toshiro thought to himself, face scrunching up in frustration and anger. In his frustration he charged at a nearby tree, ramming into it with his horn. "Damn it!" he exclaimed through clenched teeth, ramming the tree a few more times before stopping. He'd marked it up good, that was for sure. Why? Why did I have to do something so utterly stupid? I knew how she felt about me, so why did I have to go and fall in love? Now I've only hurt her because of it.
He paused for a moment to look around him. All was silent in the forest except for the usual twittering of birds in the treetops. For the second time in his life, he found himself to be lost and alone. "... Damn it." The brown stallion trudged through the forest, resuming the search for his sister at a slower pace now. I'm sorry, Xiang. Wherever you are please just be alright...

 "Xiang!"
The cry tore at Kindle, tearing her from a deep sleep. Her ears flattened as she fought off the waking world, wings folded delicately against her back.
There! Again!
Lifting her head, she blinked muzzily in the light, looking left, then right. What was that? Starting to wake, she came up on all fours gracefully. Had she wandered onto someone's territory during the night? Were they angry now? The sounds from the first battering ripped the air. Her cupped ears swiveled forward as she looked toward the noise. It came again, and again.
What... what was that? Maybe someone was hurt and needed help. After a few moments of silence, she swallowed hard and crept forward, head bowed low, wings flattened at her sides. Look smaller, less threatening. Not that she felt threatening. Should she be threatening? Oh, Goddess! "H- hello?"

Toshiro halted in his tracks when he heard someone speak, turning his head to see who had addressed him. Sadly, it was not the one whom he sought. "Um, hello," he greeted, unable to keep himself from briefly looking over the new mare. She was positively gorgeous. Though she appeared just a bit nervous. "I apologize, did my ruckus disturb you?" He hadn't rally thought that there was anyone in the area when he started attacking that tree, but then again the sound had probably traveled quite a distance through the forest.

"N- no... not really." Kindle moved through the brush uncertainly, stepping daintily as though afraid to upset even the leaves and the grass. The adornments on her mane and tail jingled softly with every movement. "I- are you hurt? I heard a loud sound, and yelling."
She flicked her muzzle to one side, then the other as though searching for his companions. Surely a single stallion couldn't have been making that much noise. There had to be others, right? "You were calling for someone?" At least, she thought it might be him. The voice had sounded male. "Xiang..."

Toshiro glanced away, abashed. He hadn't meant to be so loud in his venting. The stallion's ears perked slightly at Xiang's name. "No, I am not hurt," he replied with a faint smile. "But I seem to have lost track of my sister. We had a bit of an, um, 'misunderstanding' if you will, and she dashed away quite distressed. I tried to follow, but I can find her anywhere." He chuckled nervously as he eyed the damage he had inflicted upon the tree. "I, uh, got a little frustrated..." That was an understatement.

Kindle's gaze followed his, her blue eyes widening in alarm. "Oh, that poor tree!" She frowned thoughtfully. "Who could have-..." No, not the time. She shook it off, looking back at the chocolate stallion. "Perhaps I could help you look? She was near here when you lost her?" Come to think of it, how did you lose another Kirin? An adult, even a female was rather- well.... large. "Is she very small? A- a-..." Confusion marred her features as she lifted a hoof, indicating a height about two feet off the ground. "Foal!" That was the word...

Despite his less than cheery mood at the moment, Toshiro couldn't help but chuckle at the mare's assessment. "No no, she's just very fast," he explained with a smile. "I could certainly use the help searching though. I'm Toshiro by the way. I don't think I've caught your name yet."

"Kindle." She ducked her head in a light bow. That's right, manners. She groaned inwardly. Needed to work on her social skills. "So- this- this Xiang? You lost her? What does she look like?" Smiling lightly, she seemed to relax somewhat, now that they had a purpose, something to work toward. He didn't seem all that threatening. And if this was his territory, he didn't seem to mind her tramping all over his grass.
