well with freshwater aquarium salt (not marine salt...TOO many extra things fresh fish dont need >_<) its always natural and safer because its never iodized
you could use table salt if its the sea salt non-iodized stuff
im lazy and wanna be careful so i just get the aquarium stuff.
ich meds (which contain copper almost always) are aimed to kill the larvae (you want the water extra warm...i have seen ever 90 degrees F suggested because it speeds the move to larval stage) salt just ruins the things natural balance
and again
connection to my saltwater knowledge XD (keep a little tiny saltwater tank with cheap hermit crabs people...you will learn A LOT)
when a saltwater fish is sick you throw it in freshwater. salt and fresh sicknesses are different and cant live in completely different water. my bf has used fresh water dips for things and saw ich literally all off the fish.
of course this change in water also stresses the fish out because it too isnt used to this density (thats if you do a full strength bath/dip) so some fish like tangs who are ich magnets can be a pain to treat in salt
adding a little salt for electrolytes and stress prevention is ok

The copper bottle says "great for ich" on the side. :3
Next time I go to church (in a different town) I'll stop at the pet store and get some salt. I don't wanna use table salt. D;< It seems..weird. xD
I don't think there is anything wrong in the tank anymore, they don't act strange, but I guess I can't be sure.

if you put in some ammonia detox/ammo-lock you should be ok. your test can also detect ammonia that isnt lethal. its very low and shouldnt be a problem. you could also do a water change to lower it.

1 and higher is when i start to go oh crap >_<
when it actually looks GREEEEEN (mine shows different shades of green and yellow)
but i have had tanks with ammonia at like 8 but the fish never suffered (i used ammo-lock) and it eventually went down with no problems. but then again i never had fish who were PARTICULARLY sensitive to ammonia.

no
they should be ok. but pick up ammo-lock just in case. it detoxifies it
you can still detect ammonia but it does no harm
and maybe try to feed less? dunno how much you are giving but if it was ok till now you may be feeding a little much. i feed mine a little once a day or every other day
the puffers get fed every other day no matter what

I'll start doing it once a day.
Got some ammo-lock from my brother. Didn't even know he had it.

Never believe what most fish food containers claim.
I used to feed my fish everyday, give them a treat once a week and after that treat not feed them one or two days.
Currently I'm feeding my gouramis twice a day, but I'll be going to once a day next week or sooner. I just want them to fatten up a bit.

I just got some floating plants, and they look really weird. The roots are really long. I have 12 in there and they just look wierd. Could I cut off the roots?
