Being a Packer fan since I was a child, I grew up with Favre and I felt very...betrayed.
Personally (this is just my opinion) he had no right to retire from the Pack, and then attempt to take back his position after Rodgers had been told that he would start.
I have a lot of respect for Brett as a player, but I think that he made a mistake by going on to the Jets for one more year. His last season with the Pack was a great one, especially that snowy game against the Seahawks...but instead he went out with a not-so-great season with the Jets. It's just disappointing. I wanted better for him, we all did.
Hopefully he will just retire for good this year before he tarnishes his rep any more.

I think Brett had every right, hes the God of the QB positon....

Brett going to the Jets just shows how excited he was to play the game of football. No organization, to amount of money, and no critic could turn him away from doing what he loved best. I don't blame the Packers for naming Rodgers the starter, because Favre had his chance to make an earlier decision, but he ultimately wanted to come out of retirement for one more season.

But you guys have to look at it in the eyes of a Packer fan, I would most definitely feel betrayed if Peyton Manning did this.

Well yeah, it's because as a fan, you want a happy ending for your team and a player of Favre's caliber.

...But that doesn't mean he should not play, or stick with the options. Favre showed up late, wanting to play, after the Packers committed to Aaron Rodgers. But what was pretty low was that the Packers offered Favre something like $20 million to stay retired. Both sides didn't do their best to resolve it in the right way.

Some how I think he might try to come back again. He always pulls this crap. I really think he likes having the attention on him. That is what I think.

What do you mean he always pulls this crap, lol? He came out of retirement just once. xp

I don't think he'll return. His news conference where he announced retirement was small and humbling. Also, in his last game with the Packers, Favre was still physically able to play at a high level. You could see how bad and tired Favre looked toward the end of the season, with the Jets.

It has more of an emotional feel when he "retired" with the Packers. But after coming back, playing for the Jets, and doing it all over again, it's a bit more mellow.

Yea, he'll stay retired this time. After looking at his season last year, he will know he's tiered, getting old, and isn't as good as he used to be. I'd like to see him come back though, so his last season won't be remembered as a sucky one.

He should have thought about it with his last seaon with the Packers. Would have retired as a contender instead of a has been like he was last year. Poor Favre rolleyes

Report: Favre to meet with Vikings coach Childress
1 hour, 50 minutes ago

FILE - In this Dec. 21, 2006, …

AP - May 5, 8:02 pm EDT NFL Gallery MINNEAPOLIS (AP)—Just when Brett Favre looked to finally be out, the Minnesota Vikings could be pulling him back in.

Citing an anonymous source “with direct knowledge of the discussions between the two parties,” ESPN reported Tuesday that Favre is scheduled to meet with Vikings coach Brad Childress later this week about a possible comeback with Minnesota.

Favre’s agent, Bus Cook, did not immediately return a phone call to his Mississippi office left by The Associated Press.

Childress did not immediately return a message. A Vikings spokesman declined to comment on the report.

Both Favre and Cook have said this spring that Favre intends to stay retired. But Favre’s statement after he was released by the New York Jets last week left the door open.

“At this time, I am retired and have no intention of returning to football,” he said.

Those three little words—“At this time”—set off rampant speculation that he was indeed considering a second return to action.

Childress said Friday he had been too busy to concentrate on Favre, but did acknowledge the subject would soon be broached.

“We talk about everything,” Childress said then, “from what’s going on in the United States on the front page today. … We talk about everything, so yeah, I’m sure we’ll talk about that.”

It wouldn’t be the first time.

Favre spent 16 seasons in Green Bay, retiring in 2008 after leading the Packers to the NFC title game. He changed his mind a few months later, which set up a long and messy soap opera that ultimately led to his trade to the Jets.

It was believed all along that Favre, after hearing Green Bay’s plans to go with Aaron Rodgers at quarterback, wanted to come to NFC North rival Minnesota so he could exact some revenge on the Packers.

But the Packers would have none of it. The team filed tampering charges against the Vikings, alleging improper contact between Favre and Vikings offensive coordinator Darrell Bevell, a friend of Favre’s from his days as Green Bay’s quarterbacks coach.

The league cleared the Vikings of all charges. Green Bay included in the trade to New York a clause that made it all but impossible for the Jets to turn around and ship Favre to the Vikings.

But when the Jets granted the 39-year-old Favre his release last week, it made him a free agent who is eligible to sign with any team he chooses. And many experts say the Vikings are a quarterback away from being a legitimate Super Bowl contender.

With unproven veterans Sage Rosenfels and Tarvaris Jackson slated to duke it out in training camp for the starting job, it would come as no surprise that the Vikings would at least consider adding a three-time MVP who holds the career records in every major statistical passing category, including interceptions.

But the move would not come without questions.

After an impressive start to his first and only season in New York—he threw a career-high six touchdown passes in a win over Arizona in Week 4— Favre’s production dipped considerably over the final five games while he dealt with shoulder and biceps injuries. He threw nine interceptions in that span and the Jets stumbled to a 1-4 finish.

Tell me about it. But at least there was encouraging news. He went to the high school he visits every year and then said that he could not do what he was able to do without discomfort. So that is an obvious sign.

He is opting to go with cortizone shots instead of surgery. So that will be leaving some very questionable possibilities right now for him and the vikes.
