I read them. Got the only english book in Oslo's airport and picked up the next one in JFK airport.
Well I said they were aimed, not only for them.

Still, its clearly a romance book for women.

Edit: wait, you actually paid the rediculous cost for a book in an airport? I would never buy a book in an airport, they are way overpriced.

It's called a 8 hour flight from Oslo to JFK and another substantial long flight home. not to tmention the extra hours that we waited on the runway to lift-off.
Yeah. I would have just brought a few books from home.

I was not going to lugg books all around Scandinavia for three weeks when I was already pushing a weight requirement for my bag.
Books are small though...
But metal gear, like belts and such do weigh their weight.

I dont get the big deal. So what if Stephanie Meyer called her beasts Vampires. It's a fiction book about .......fiction.
I just hate those books because they are aimed at 12 year old lonely girls. I'm not a 12 year old lonely girl so thats pretty much why I dislike it.

i bought the brothers karamazov at the boston airport and it was the same price as at any normal book store. it's the magazines, food, and drinks that are insanely expensive, i didn't find the book prices to be too bad. maybe a little more, but not too much

stephen king said stephanie meyer can't write worth a darn. now, i enjoy king's writing, but he isn't a particularly masterful wordsmith, and if her writing is really as bad as he thinks... i wonder how she got her books published

Because just because an author thinks another author doesn't write well, doesn't mean squat. It's all subjective and it's all opinion. Her books got great reviews from well known and credible magazine and editorials. Stepthen King writers horror for adult auidiances, Stephanie Meyer writes fiction for Teens.

a person with 50 years of experience in a trade's opinion doesnt matter? i doubt you'd say the same thing if it was, say, an experienced carpenter critiquing another, less-experienced carpenter.

They have such different writting styles that his opinion does not matter. It's not his cup of tea nor his background. King writes descriptive long paragraphs describing situations from a third person point of veiw and Stephanie Meyer predominately is a conc=versation based writer. Meaning most of the plot and descriptions are revealed through a conversation between two individuals or more.

As far as anything goes, King would have no business giving his thoughts on a romance novel, correct? Yes. The Twilight series is bascially a romance book for teens. As far as I'm concerned, whether or King is the greatest suspence/horror writer in our day (which I believe he is) he expertise only reaches as far as his own genre. He's probbaly pissed because her vampires are different than his. Get over it. It's bloody fiction.

True....

@Mega: Well, in Rhode Island and D.C, the books were over priced. Not by tons but still more then they should have been.

so... bob dylan, a master of folk songwriting - the only songwriter to get a pulitzer for his writing - has no business commenting on black metal lyrics and how poorly they're written... because it's a different genre? i mean, yes it may be a different genre than what king chooses to write, but he was commenting on the quality of her writing, not the stories themselves. he said it was easy to see why the stories had become popular. we're not talking about stylistic differences here - everyone has stylistic differences, and a good writer can appreciate that. we're discussing the actual quality of the writing, and whether that writing facilitates suspension of disbelief.

and i'm not saying stephen king has the last, authoritative word on the subject. i just said IF he was right... not that i thought he was - i cant judge, having not read the books.

I've always enjoyed her writting, and so have thousands, even millions others. She has good suspence and her endings are decent too, unlike 'Salem's Lot. The end fight in that book was RIDICULOUS. How can you spend 200+ pages leading up to this big battle and have only a small paragraph relating to it. I have NEVER been dispointed with a book than I was with 'Salem's Lot.

And as far as your Bob Dylan thing went, no I don't believe he has any authority in the matter.
