Nutsy coo coo is a good term for it. xD
I think the nutsy is more why Christine was leaving him in the first place. When she thought he was an angel she loved him, when she found out he was a man she hated him, when she saw his face she pitied him... it was when he started getting mad, controlling, obsessive and generally nutsy coo coo that she got afraid and tried to escape.

I still like the term batshit crazy. I think it's better for him. XD
And yeah, it really is. When Erik "became" nothing more than an ordinary (haha, ordinary) man in a mask, that beset the feeling of betrayal but as I think Fox said, it also bubbled to the surface pity because then she began to realize why he approached her that way he did. And even though she feared him in the instant his mask was gone, the pity sank in deeper. He was ugly and he lived below an Opera House. He loved her and lying was all he could do to be near her.
Oh granted some people would think then that "pity can turn to love". AHAHAHAHAHA... no. You don't say, "oh poor baby. Here, take me now." That just doesn't work and doesn't constitute any relationship beside unrequited love.
Baka has a point and I agree with her theory about the "smell of death".
And I can't add much more XD

Quote: ...perhaps he did that the first time, maybe that was the "smell of death" just a theory... Yes, that's what I just said a few posts above you. xD; Sorry if I didn't explain it well. I think nutsy cuckoo and batshit insane both apply depending on Erik's mood. The batshit = angry crazy, when he's all mad and homicidal and asking what people's noses look like; The nutsy = pleasant crazy, when he's rambling on about how happy he and Christine shall be together when they're merrily, merrily married.

Pfft. It'd be like
Erik: Who wants to see a card trick?
Kids: Me! Me! Me!
Erik: Alrighty! *pushes up sleeve* Nothing up my sleeves..
Kid #1: Your arm is ugly! D:
Erik: Your mother's ugly. ANYWAY! So nothing up this sleeve and nothing up the other! Now, pick a card! *goes over to another kid*
Kid #2: *picks card*
Erik: Now put the card back in and remember what it was, okay?
*kid puts card back in*
Erik: Alright! So.. with a little magic--*shoves hand down kid's throat and comes out with a lung* Here we go! *squeezes the lung and the card pops out* Is this your card? ... Kid? o_o
Everyone else: HO'SNAP!

I agree with Fox, for I think he said this, but Erik probably could have been musty, and then the chloroform didn't help at all.
